A LA Times October Surprise Targets City Hall's "Political Tricks and Contributing Treats Proclivities"

Will a LA Times Investigated Report, outing an alleged "$600,000 Washing of Campaign Contributions" to City Hall Politicos by a Harbor Gateway Apartment Developer, become the October Surprise that adversely affects Measures JJJ and HHH on Election Day?

The LA Times still knows Investigated Reporting (occasionally). 

LA County Board of Supervisors Candidate Janice Hahn ($203,500) and CD-15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino ($94,700) love the smell of "washed campaign contributions (allegedly)".

** Blogger's Note: What came first in CD-15's Harbor Gateway Community, the Political Money Laundromat or the $72-Million Apartment  Complex, both owned by a certain Samuel Leung? The answer as reported in a LA Times Investigated Report and political ramifications ensuing from the reactions via various community members, is bound to have November (and March) Elections cogitations 

For former CD-15 City Councilwoman (and current LA County Board of Supervisors Candidate) Janice "Money Babs" Hahn, the timing could not be worse as she is force, again to deal with questionable campaign money issues.

Former LAPD Senior Lead Officer, turned "Money Babs" Hahn's replacement on the City Council Joe Buscaino has pledge to return all questionable contributions pending he results of a Ethics Commission Investigation. 

But for every "Average Joe (Politico)" on the City Council, there are the likes of Nury Martinez, Mitch Englander ........., and the Developer's "Perpetual Bridesmaid" Jose Huizar who have remain silent regarding the latest City Hall "Pay to Play Expose"  ............, and HOPEFULLY the result will be an adverse outcome for Measures JJJ and HHH on Tuesday Ballot.

As Neighborhood Integrity Initiative Frontperson Jill Stewart stated to the LA Times.

“We need to know whether L.A. city officials are selling their votes,” she said. “Every city needs housing. Most cities don’t go corrupt in order to do it.”

While many Angelinos were taking advantage of the Memorial Day Holiday to partake in a three-day getaway or simply BBQ with friends, LA Mayor Eric "Gar-SOFT-ee" was expressing his "THANKS" for those who have "SERVED". In a Memorial Weekend Getaway Friday Presser/Photo Op, with CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino, to announce a $9 Million Dollars Jobs Partnership with CalTrans, the Naval Reservist/Rhodes Scholar ........, and Second Term-seeking Mayor, reaped an immediate KFI 640 AM "John and Ken Show" retort for his comments that thanked ..........., THE FORMERLY INCARCERATED FOR SERVING THEIR TIME.Most of the time, comments such as those showcasing "Mayor Gar-SOFT-ee's" inner-tenderness for the time-served veterans of California's Penal System, would be forgotten by the Tuesday-after a Holiday Weekend. Is CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino playing a dangerous game in escalating the contentious Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) West Coast Ports Labor Dispute, by his supporting of a March along the San Pedro Waterfront?

** The former "Average Joe of San Pedro" who brought San Pedro and the Greater CD-15 together in electing a Native Son done great, to replace now Congresswoman Janice Hahn as its Councilperson Joe Buscaino, is using his homegrown, political capital, in taking a side on a contentions labor issue with local and nation economic implications. Via the "Average Joe's Official Facebook Page, the former LAPD Senior Lead Officer is organizing a Major Rally in support of ILWU's grievances against PMA as noted below.

The PMA's action in further cutting night shifts at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach is another step closer to a lockout. It’s the wrong time to take the type of actions that will hurt the hard working residents that I represent. It will only serve to worsen the slowdown and congestion at the ports, disrupt the global supply chain, and result in irreparable damage to the reputation of our ports complex at a time when competition is peaking. I believe we are at a point where there may be no winners in the end. I beg the PMA to come to a resolution by allowing the ILWU jurisdiction over the chassis issue and bring our economic engine back to efficient operation before we lose business permanently.

From Willie Brown Jr. in today's Column within the Opinion Pages of the San Franscisco Chronicle ......, State Attorney General Kamala Harris and former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa were spotted having dinner the other night. I assume they were talking about her — and possibly his — bid to replace retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer in 2016.

My speculation is that Villaraigosa was looking to cut a deal under which he would opt out of the Senate race and Harris would stay neutral in the 2018 governor’s campaign, which could well pit Villaraigosa against Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom.

CD 15 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Joe Buscaino, along with CD 12 Clowncilman Mitch Englander, pull proposed Half Cent Sale Tax Hike, for Sidewalk and Street Infrastructure Repair, from November Ballot.

The "Average Joe from San Pedro", along with the "Spring Street RINO" make the right decision in pulling the proposed $3 Billion Dollars plus tax hike to pay for "SOS LA". 

For the near future, saving our streets within LA, will have to come from existing fiscal resources. 

The "Average Joe" and the "Spring Street RINO" come to their political senses.

With Mayor Eric Garcetti not willing to sign on in supporting another tax hike on Angelinos, the duo of City Clowncil Central Committee Members Joe Buscaino and Mitch Englander, blinked in their efforts to fund $3 Billion Dollars plus in new labor-friendly, public works projects, that was being sold as "Save our Streets, LA" (SOS LA).

Despite being supported by former Populist Radio Host, turned paid Board of Public Work Committee President Kevin James, the Rhodes Scholar Progressive, now Mayor Garcetti, exhibited political intuitiveness in judging that this November was not the time to place a tax hike on the ballot in what could be a high Republican turnout election.

......, and BTW, what happen to the pot holes that provided the background for showcasing the voluminous SOS LA Manuel? Hint, the right people in government obviously read this blog, photos later.

** Public Indoctrinators, whoops, Teachers Unions are raging in unaccountable anger that a mere Superior Court Judge would dare strike down Indoctrinator/Teacher Tenure Laws, that protect their Indoctrinating Brothers and Sisters, from facing termination for nefarious conduct in the classroom. We sincerely hope that this ruling stands and acts as a tool to hold the likes of a certain "Wilson High School Faculty Member" accountable for engaging inappropriate political conduct. 

** As LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy commends the Vergara Ruling on Teacher Tenure, we would like to point out that District Administrators have ignore an request for an investigation into the inappropriate use of uniformed Wilson High School LAPD Magnet Cadet for political campaigning. We reported last weekend that LAPD Hollenbeck Division Captain Martin Baeza recently responded in writing, regarding the incident. Yet, LAUSD staff are either ignoring or covering up another incident involving lack of faculty oversight of students being mislead to engage inappropriate conduct by former LA-32 Neighborhood Council Elections Chairperson (and member of the race-baiting and youth exploiting El Sereno Historical Society). ** Letter to LAUSD below.

Just Say (and Vote) NO to "Save Our Streets LA" SOS Sale Tax Hike BS

With no apologies to City Clowncil Central Committee Members Joe Buscaino, Mitch Englander and Mayor Garcetti-appointed Board of Public Works President Kevin James, the only thing your $4.5 Billion Dollars-plus, "Save Our Streets Scheme" will preserve, is high-paid, union patronage at City Hall, that has been responsible for the current conditions pictured below.  

Will "Save Our Streets LA" only serve to delay the fiscal crumbling of  Los Angeles into "Detroit on the Pacific"?

** Blogger's Note: As a blogging disclaimer, I take no responsibility in accepting a copy of the City of Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee's latest assault on timber reserves, but then when has the Clowncil Central Committee feign accountability for any fiscal transgressions in recent memory? That said, Neighborhood Councils Members at Saturday's Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition (LANNC) Meeting were treated to a copy per NC, of Clowncil Central Committee Blue Dog Democrat Joe Buscaino and RINO Mitch Englander's proposed $4.5 Billion Dollars plus, Sales Tax Hike Scheme to "Save Our Streets and Sidewalks". We should note that the additional weight of this voluminous report in the respective vehicles of LANNC Meeting attendees was bound to have an immediate impact on LA's crumbling streets. Thus, in a moment of civic compassion, we embarked, in the spirit of activism, to find quick, bloggin usage for this latest political production, as noted below---Scott Johnson.

Living in CD 14, you do not have to venture far from home to find examples of civic neglect (especially ethical). The picture above was taken on Indiana Street between Alcazar and Valley Blvd (information for Councilman Huizar's Staffer assigned to monitor this blog).

In the spirit of objectivity, Clowncilman Huizar recently garnered fellow Clowncil Central Committee approval to transfer $250,000 from the balance of the CLARTS Fund to pay for sidewalk repairs. But one does not need to be a Princeton Graduate, to discern how many pot holes like this one, his recent $185,000 Accident could of repaired in CD 14. 

Despite the best effort of Clowncil Members Buscaino, Englander and sadly, former City Hall Watchdog, turned paid Board of Public Works President Kevin James, this report will not stand up to Angelino's ire over irresponsible fiscal priorities, that can't be tax over in correcting.

At this time in civic history, LANNC needs to take a stand in opposing any tax hikes until City Hall undertakes concrete fiscal reforms that combat growing employee obligations against the General Fund. No shadow can hide the fact that "the growing pot hole of pension obligations", will swallow up all proceeds from any short term tax schemes. Thus Angelinos should ask the likes of Clowncilman Buscaino, Englander and former Talk Radio Populist, turned paid Political Opertative Kevin James, to show us the savings in reforms that will pay for this proposed Sale Tax Hike (to paraphrase Collectivist Dependentcrats, in asking Republicans how they would pay for tax cuts).

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

We start off Political Blogging for 2014 by getting to the "MEAT" in the news.

Former Mayor Sam Blogger/ Sometime Tony Villar Driver/ Small Business Owner and the top Political Consultant against terminally-ill candidates Michael "MEAT" Trujillo.

Great bloggin 2014 to everyone as yesterday's celebration of a New Year turns into thee first regular work day back behind the keyboards. Thus, what better way to start 2014 than with a little bloggin "MEAT".

Our former bloggin colleague never fails to surprise us with his ability to find the entry way into a local news cycle. Imagine this blogger's surprise (or not) upon reviewing the daily edition of the "Old Gray Collectivist Hag on Spring Street" (aka LA Times) and finding numerous quotes from Trujillo regarding the larger than expected crowd for the New Year's Celebration at the Downtown Civic Center's Grand Park.

We should not be surprise that MEAT would find his way to a large downtown gathering, after all, with Tony Villar moving on to the Herbalife and his candidates of choice for Mayor, Wendy "IBEW, DWP, the Villar Machine and Boss D'Arcy's" Greuel not getting elected, the chance of "MEAT/ Chief Parker" getting invited to a local Political A-list New Year's Party, were slim.

But lets give credit to "MEAT/ Chief Parker" for not becoming part of the problem on New Year's (he can save his political problem-making abilities for the Billary 2016 Campaign). It would seem from the Times report that event officials and venders were caught off guard with the large turnout.

The Civic Center has a decades-long track record for turning out large crowds for musical events going back to the 1970's "Street Scene Events" (especially if booze is for sale). Plus, lets not forget that Downtown has become a more desirable living destination within the last few years.

** Kudos to KFI 640 A.M. for allowing now LA Public Works Commission President Kevin James to host Holiday Afternoon Drive the last two days. James was splendid back in his Talk Show Host role, with a nice interview of CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino regarding the removal of parking meters, in the Business Districts of Wilmington and San Pedro, to promote enterprise.

** Its a Happy 5.5% New Year for thousands of city employees who go back to work after the mid-week Holiday to the last in a series of pay raises crafted by former Failure Mayor Tony Villar. It would by a big shock if Mayor Eric Garcetti would challenge the pay raise from going forward.

** Our favorite City Council Sane Budgetary Hawk Bernard Parks had some interesting comments (Calling out California Governor "Moonbeam II" and the timing of former Failure Mayor Tony Villar's USC job) following a Superior Court Judge Ruling that forced the Coliseum Commission to pay the LA Times and California Aware's legal bills their collective investigation of Brown Act Violations originating from the Coliseum Giveaway to the "University of Scandalous Conduct".

** Lastly, but MOST IMPORTANT, the 2013 (in 2014) Mayor Sam Political Ass Clown Awards will begin the first full political blog week of 2014 on Monday.

CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino's Block Party an "Above Average Celebration" of Columbus Day and Italian Heritage.

 

** Blogger's note: Kudos to the "Average Joe", now CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino, who sure knows how to throw a Block Party. Since his election to succeed now Congresswoman Janice Hahn, the former homegrown LAPD Senior Lead Officer, has done a great job of remaining connected to his constituents via the power of Social Media and the utilization of old fashion community events such as yesterday's Block Party. Its refreshing to see a community event where the connection between constituent neighbors and its homegrown elective official, was mutual. Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

Local Political Columnist Tony Castro is the latest to muse on the controversy involving the alleged actions of CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar.

 

 

As we near the end of our first week of a bloggin, political news cycle since our return, Former Herald Examiner Newspaper Scribe Tony Castro is the latest to offer his observations on the most recent controversy involving CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar.

Castro, who's deconstruction of Parke Skelton's crafted façade of the former Los Angeles Mayor known as Antonio Villaraigosa, was lauded by many, draws parallels between the behaviors of the "Political Papi/ Mijo Duo" of Villaraigosa and Huizar respectively.

When he was first elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 2005, Jose Huizar appeared to be the second coming of the history-making new mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa.
Perhaps even better, some said.
Huizar, after all, had the trappings that possibly could better rally the Democratic Party that controlled Los Angeles, Calif., and that could potentially lead to a new American political landscape nationally.
He was the first Latino immigrant elected to the city council of a major American city. He was likable, attractive, smart and educated and connected in a way Villaraigosa wasn't.

So true ...........

When this blogger first meet the Princeton Graduate, Barrister via the UCLA School of LA and recently elected LAUSD School Board Member at former CD 14 City Councilman Nick Pacheco Re-election Kickoff in 2003, my initial impression was Huizar's political future could only trek upwards.
But a decade later ( and many broken promises left on the side of the road of his political journey), the potential has been replace by the facts that points to an insecure persona, prone to episodes of angry, irresponsible, petulant, vindictive behavior, in both his political and personal conduct.

......... and rest assure come 2015, a once promising political rising star will face a challenge for his political life regarding this most recent, alleged "Tonto-like Conduct", which will reflect negatively on CD 14 voters, who have grown weary of the narcissus behavior of a Political Mijo connected to a fail, former Mayor name "Antonio Villaraigosa".

** Another controversial politico (with gun and badge) Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca, will surely face a growing list of challengers to maintain the title as LA's top sheriff come 2015. Most intriguing is today's "Old Gray Collective Hag on Spring Street" (aka LA Times) report that former LAPD Senior Lead Officer, now CD 15 City Councilman Joe Buscaino, has been approach about running against Baca. We should note that the "Average Joe of San Pedro", stated that his intention was to serve long term (three terms) as CD 15's officeholder.

** With the "Old Gray Collectivist Hag on Spring Street" pronouncing Mayor Eric Garcetti's appointments to the Police Commission as a "shake up", of follow up interest to discerning political observers should be the nomination of Sandra Figueroa-Villa to the oversight panel. With the FBI investigating the alleged nefarious doings of the Montebello Calderon Political Family, it might raise some eyebrows to note if any of Figueroa-Villa's employees/ associates have close ties to the Calderon Political Machine.
