A Morning Brief on Antonio "Tony" Villar's latest and past Flings for Thursday

Yes!! We still bloggin care to report on a former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar's present and past relationships. Care to join us?
LA Weekly's Gene Maddaus broke the latest regarding former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar's "new serious relationship", with 31 years old New York City Saleswoman Kim Honig. As a bloggin gift to the young Ms. Honig in honor of her new union, we thought we share some flashbacks from some of her new Sugar Papi's past relationships and prep her for life with Tony.
As the young Miss Honig will soon find out her Sugar Papi craves, loves, adores attention, witness his past infatuations with Telebimbos, who's reading of his political exploits, or in the case of the photo above, dropping out of the race for governor, led to romance (with Lu Parker). Then when the fine wine (and medical drugs) brought out his "inner-Machismo", breakup (allegedly).
In the spirit of building that special bond in their budding romance (at least to the next Telebimbo catches Tony's always, straying eyes), young Kim should consider a thematic, Date Night, where she role plays an aspiring, young politico bed-hopping Telebimbo. Remember Kim, your ability to handle the "microphone", will keep the Sugar Papi happy.
Young Kim should understand that her new Sugar Papi will need to spend quality time with his guy pals on occasions. Both don't worry, what happens with the guys (and their hired party companions), stays with the guys, unless somebody tips off TMZ.
Some day, if this new father/daughter, whoops, romantic relationship gets really serious, then the Sugar Papi may jet Kim out west to meet the family, well political familia. Just think how proud Kim will be to meet her future "Political Mijo in Law", CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar. Maybe Huizzy will hire her as an "Office Scheduler" (with monthly pay raises for performing "assigned tasks") but that may provoke anger from Sugar Papi.
Being objective and contrite, we hope that young Kim has the mental fortitude to handle all the gossip (and truths) regarding her new Sugar Papi's proclivities to stray away from the main love nest. Just remember that the thoughts behind that bleached-white smile, are not always innocent and focus on maintaining any semblance of fidelity. Just ask his ex. wife.
But lastly as parting advise to the young Kim, remember in your current union with the Sugar Papi known as the Failure Mayor, you are in Tony's World now. And all the attention this fleeting blog post will bring, is all about him, with Tony's current fling for the moment, to be soon filed away in the bloggin archives (** BTW, wonder what Tony's fellow City Terrace OGs, think about him dating a young Gabacha?).

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

Only 361 days left in the reign of Mayor Antonio Villar.
Great post "Fourth of July", "Fiscal New Year" and in CD 14 "Happy June 29 (or 30) Fireworks Day" to all who participated in any of these yearly celebrations during the last week.
** "Bottom feeder"? "Idiot"? You could guess that these duo words would of been directed at this blog over time by various sources (Lil Mikey, Betty, Huizzy, Private Citizen John Shallman to name a few). But no! That was the choice verbiage of Mayor Villar when questioned by Los Angeles Times reporters about his now past relationship with KTLA Channel Five Reporter Lu Parker. Verbiage is in fine form within the comment section, kinda like the old "wild west days" of non-regulated comments here at Mayor Sam. Some samples.

92805a at 7:50 AM July 3, 2012When is he going to become a man and change his name so he won't tarnish his ex-wife's name anymore. You are Tony Villar, man up.

A warning for the local female media contingent.

USC Trojan Alum at 9:00 PM July 2, 2012Look out, female reporters at ABC7, CBS/KCAL9, FOX11, KCOP13, NBC4 and Univsion, the mayor is now heading your way.....

Verbiage need for moderation.

Beast_SPQR at 9:19 PM July 3, 2012Hey Tony,Just think, while you're busy cleaning toilets, she is busy juggling some other guy's nuts at this  very moment. Happy scrubbing.

** We chanced upon this "forlorn editorial" from the Downtown News which called upon Mayor Villar to skip out on his upcoming Democratic National Convention duties and focus on his job. We admire audacity in print but what odds would the Downtown scribes give on this transpiring, 1000 to 1?

Another Soulvine Thursday via Betty Pleasant
This week Betty has some dire news for her "brother and sisters" in Labor.
A PALE HORSE COMETH — You know, there is a horrible anti-union measure scheduled to appear on the California ballot in November. It is just sitting in the hopper waiting to get a proposition number from Secretary of State Debra Bowen. This coming atrocity is one in which right-wingers are seeking to outlaw payroll deductions from employees in all the unions in the state — not just the public employee unions — but all of them! They are no longer content to weaken the clout of public employees, but they want to wipe collective bargaining off the face of the earth for everybody. Get ready to beat this dog to death!

The horror of regulating non-democratic unions!!

Saturday Hotsheet

The Lu Parker Project

Want yet another way to buy some influence with the Mayor? Now you can donate to his TV anchor girlfriend Lu Parker's "charity" which doesn't seem to be doing anything innovative or different with it's most recent achievement being the painting of the lobby of animal shelter. Kathy Cheng of California Common Cause told the LA Times that "vigilance is needed with such charities to make sure they are not a back channel way for special interests to find special access to electeds that regular constituents don’t have." According to Parker her "The Lu Parker Project" is an "outlet to express love and compassion." I thought that was the Mayor's Lu Parker Project.

As the City Council is considering an elected DWP Ratepayer Advocate Jack Humphreville has a suggestion.  Writing in CityWatch the presumptive CD4 challenger suggests the Council hire a consultant who can clearly define the role of the position.

Much has been written about the sweetheart giveaway the City has in store for billionaire Eli Broad to build a memorial to himself downtown (also called an art museum).  But now another organization has come forward to lay claim to the Grand Avenue parcel that Broad has been salivating for.  The Shen Yun Performing Arts Organization is vying to build a 3000 seat theatre and arts training center.  However they can't seem to get a fair shake from the CRA or City Council who has the fix in for the politically connected Broad.  Incredibly the CRA staff told the Chinese organization that they would be better off at one of several sites in Chinatown.  Hmmm, is this 1953?

Don't forget today is the day.  The launch party for the Clean Sweep Movement is happening in North Hollywood.  Speakers include former Mayor Richard Riordan, Walter Moore, radio talk show host Kevin James and South Central Farmer Tezozmoc.

Mayor Villarparker at Peace, City falling into Financial Abyss

Mayor Antonio Villar with Lu Parker

"Mayor Villar before meatless Mondays"

If you really needed any more column inches of newsprint to reinforce the premise that the Los Angeles Times aka "Old Gray Westside Hag on Spring Street", is sinking fast into the depths of irrelevancy, then this latest puff piece/profile of Mayor Antonio Villar will surely provide the final "newsprint of evidence" that the "Old Gray Hag" is nearing the "journalistic flat-line" of death.
My first reaction to this PR piece, was to check the byline. For a fleeting moment, I thought that West LA blogger Kevin Roderick had return to his old place of employment. Many of you long time bloggin political observers will remember his infamous "Pop Star Mayor" puff piece that he authored for "West Los Angeles Magazine", some time in the recent political past. But upon further scrutiny, it was City Hall reporter Phil Willon , who was channeling Roderick when reprinting the "talking points" provided by the likes of maybe, Deputy Mayor Matt Szabo, who knows.
Then there are the interesting tidbits about our now, "at a great place Mayor" (maybe he is channeling back on all those great international places he visited on the public dime?). First is his new "meatless Mondays" pledge. Does "meatless Mondays" have an double meaning? Maybe this means in addition to avoiding the "carne y carnitas y pollo", he is also avoiding the "MEAT" of Mike Trujillo? In hindsight, the City of Los Angeles should take an oath of going "MEATless" after Trujillo's consulting of Measure B. I would be the first to sign that pledge.
But what strikes me the most about this supposed piece of informational journalism, is the absence of reality at Getty House and the miss opportunities to ask some probing questions of Mayor Villar.
One can perceive from reading this PR missive, that an virtual moat has been built around the confines of Getty House. While the Villars lavish themselves in acts of narcissism, a city is falling deeper into an financial mess that has dire repercussions for its citizens. The Daily News in yesterday's edition, had an ominous story on $175 million dollar plus deficit that is growing by the day. So while the Villar's celebrate Antonio's new found "greater place of being" many city workers and residents are confronting an lesser state of reality, that includes pay cuts, layoffs and less services.
Reporter Phil Willon also missed an opportunity to ask questions such as these examples. Why is your divorce from Corina Raigosa not been finalize? Why have you asked for delays in the divorces proceeding due to an lack of both, available time and of legal counsel? How is your current relationship helping to improve your public image? What steps are you taking to correct the economic problems at City Hall? Miss opportunities galore indeed in this story.
Thus, as Los Angeles heads towards the edge of falling into an financial abyss that bottoms out in bankruptcy, we can rest assured that the former Antonio Ramon Villar/Tony Villar, now "Mayor Antonio Villarparker" is in a "greater place" while the rest of us Angelinos perpare for an "worst place of reality" at 200 South Spring Street.

Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday

Dénouement | Photo by Video Louis | From the Downtown NoHo Blog

So what's Mayor Villaraiogsa going to do now that he's a lame duck? Run for US Senate in 2012, at least that's what the LA Weekly is reporting pundit Charles Feldman is positing.  It's a good landing place and helps the Mayor keep his track record of never finishing one job before running for another.  And I think Betty LuParker would make a great DC social hostess! (But keep her away from Tiger Woods!)

Phil Jennerhan handicaps the 2013 Mayoral race. Phil doesn't include himself or Walter Moore but gives odds-on favorite to City Council President Eric Garcetti. That's correct, for now Garcetti is the front runner until something better comes along.

Betty Pleasant, who always stays classy, is at it again.  She has a disease called PDS which stands for Parks Derangement Syndrome. She is obsessed with Bernard Parks and is already accusing him of abusing new LAPD Chief Charlie Beck.

Sandy Sand writing in the LA Daily News hits local pols for excessive travel.  Just after getting back from a trip to a city sponsored book fair in Mexico, Mayor Villaraigosa was off to Coppenhagen for the phony Climate Change Conference (complete with free hookers).  Councilmember Dennis Zine wants to put the squeeze on such travel however Dennis is known for his own junkets such as a recent trip to Israel to "study" water conservation.

In case you were keeping track we had another water main break. Put a pin in the map in Baldwin Hills.

Not that I'm against medical marijuana but while the City of Los Angeles seems paralyzed on how to deal with the issue other agencies have no problems.  The County moved fast to shut down an illegal dispensary in Whittier Thursday.

Hotsheet for Friday

Sunland-Tujunga is the place to be tomorrow at high noon. That’s where Paul Krekorian and Christine Essel will square off in a debate moderated by Fox 11’s Christina Gonzales. Rumor has it, topics will range from CD2 to CD2; red herring, hot air balloons, magic mirrors, and gyroscopes will be confiscated at the door. Find the details here and don’t forget to frequent Joe B’s CD2 Special Election blog for the latest.

And now … the fun stuff. Yesterday, Essel was accused of circumventing campaign finance rules with a rigged independent expenditure. Today, we bring you the countercharge against Krekorian. The synopsis is this: Krekorian cuts checks to consultant Eric Hacopian from his campaign account (some of which being taxpayer money). Hacopian and family then make contributions to Paul4Council, thus getting taxpayer money matched with taxpayer money. As snipers on both sides point out, such games are all too common. It just proves that money is the problem in politics.

Scroll down for Phil Jennerjahn’s interview with Special Assistant City Attorney David Berger. It’s a great read.

Councilmember Paul Koretz wants to see digital billboards come down en masse following a ruling by Superior Court Judge Terry Green that LA City acted “beyond the scope of its authority” in allowing CBS Outdoor and Clear Channel Outdoor to proceed with the conversions. Judge Green, however, says challenges must be considered billboard by billboard. The City Attorney’s office is reviewing. City Council is waiting. The two companies, of course, plan to appeal.

Start refreshing LAist because later today, Zach Behrens promises to explain why the biannual time change always screws traffic. Would Zach also kindly explain why traffic isn’t yielding to the highest unemployment in 26 years?

And wrapping up, Oprah might move to LA, Waltarrrrr of the Highland Park 90042 blog says MTA’s brand new website isn’t running on schedule, Lu Parker posts her first LA Times blog, and let’s add 28,000 FAKE STIMULUS JOBS to the Mayor Sam lexicon, courtesy of the Sacramento Bee.

The Next Mirthaluparker Comes to Town!

Memo to the third floor Mayoral staff that troll for babes for "AV."

There's a hot new prospective in town:

Alycia Lane is coming to Channel 4 on August 19 as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter. She takes over as the weekend evening anchor from Kim Baldonado, who last month was promoted to anchor the Monday-Friday Midday Report and KNBC's weekly News Extra.

Lane, a perfect Mirthala or LuParker look alike is a half-Puerto Rican New York native.  That probably would put to the rest the "Why are you dating a gabacha?" questions Tony gets.  She's been embroiled in all kinds of fun stuf including allegedly sending racy photos of herself to a married television executive, allegedly beating up a New York cop, making homophobic remarks and a former married co-anchor of Lane's admitted to have an improper relationship with her.  And she speaks fluent Spanish too.

Read more fun details at Lane's page on Wikipedia. Which interestingly enough has far more content than LuParker.  Mirthala doesn't even have a Wikipedia page.

I bet the third floor boys are camped outside KNBC right now!

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday

Time to fire up the Mayor V Flight Crew Again.  The Mayor is only one month into his second term as Mayor and he's already on his second international junket, this time on a trip to Doug McIntyre's favorite destination, Iceland. Trouble is we're not getting much out of the 3rd floor as to what's behind the latest punch of the Mayor's passport. KTLA's Eric Spillman files an excellent piece featuring the usual stonewalling by Villar spokeshole Matt "I need an intervention" Szabo and from the Mayor's attorneys in response to the veteran journalist's public records request. Spillman's investigation is interesting too in that Villaraigosa's most recent overseas trip was to South Africa with latest Mayoral squeeze and KTLA anchorcupcake, the Betty styling Lu Parker. Wonder if Spillman's quest is making things a bit uncomfortable in the KTLA newsroom?  Anyway the chatter we hear is that the trip is a "retreat" for the Mayor and some of his closest political advisors to re-chart the future of his political "career" in the wake of the crash and burn of his Gubenatorial hopes.

Former Paramount Pictures executive, the address forgetting Christine Essel currently leads the field in fundraising for the special election in Council District 2.  Essel has raised nearly $120,000 putting her far ahead of all other comers.  Essel's campaign consultant John Shallman says this is reflective of the popular support Essel has in the District, however as noted here by Red Spot this weekend almost all of Essel's campaign cash has come from the usual suspects outside CD2.  In related news, I have endorsed Essel opponent Assemblyman Paul Krekorian.

Following the "re-branding" of a part of Van Nuys to get away from (using Mr. Howell voice) "those people," looks like another neighborhood makeover is underway though for different reasons.  Atwater Villarge Newbie reports that Councilman Tom "Where'd You Go to High School" LeBong wants to shave off a section of Atwater Village and rename it "River Glen." A fake neighborhood named after a fake river.  The blog opines that LeBong's effort is to push through industrial projects in this residentless section of Atwater Village and remove it from the sphere of that community's influence.  Interesting.

Yet another effort by a local politician to do something to create their "legacy" on your dime.  Councilman Jose Huizar wants a trolley to run through Downtown primarily through a "revitalized" Broadway.  Some $40 million has been set aside for this effort.  I think a trolley would be cute; might even be a tourist attraction.  However the City is broke and this is a luxury item.  $40 million is an easy amount for local business and non-profits to raise if they really want it.  Let's hope somewhere rational minds prevail and put a stop to this project being funded by the City.

Personal note: Though I've returned to writing some posts for the blog, my posting will be light the next several days.  Monday morning I'll be having dental surgery and will be out of it for a day or so. My thanks to our great team here at Mayor Sam for keeping the ship sailing!

Morning Briefs and Outtakes on the Eve of Independence Day

"Gone to Africa with the book ??"
Are Tony and Lu off to Africa ??
At least we know that Mayor Villaraigosa has vacated his third floor confines for some "telepromptive speaking" and "R & R", but the mayor's chief spin-master is mum on whether girlfriend Lu Parker is along to provide some "tummy love".
And with both the Mayor and City Council President Eric Garcetti vacating the city, Councilwoman Jan Perry reigns as the acting head of the city.
Time to proclaim "Happy Fast Food Day" in the City of Angels.
Ron Kaye has some great inside information on the discussions between the City Council and the Employees Unions and the cost to you ?? You may not want to know.
One may remember the recent freeway shooting that killed the driver and lefted a expensive Bentley pockmark with multiple bullet holes.
Now speculation has this being a possible "hit" by a Mexican Drug Cartel.
****And lastly, we close with this rarity from CD-14, "praise for Councilman Jose Huizar".
Your thoughts...........
FREEDOM FOR ALL, FREE ENTERPRISE, AND HAPPY FOURTH TO ALL!!

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

Assemblyman Paul Krekorian is looking more and more like he's running to succeed Wendy Greuel on the City Council following her ascencion to City Controller. We reported months ago the other Paul K was planning to run and now the Daily News reports he has rented an apartment in CD2 to establish residency while he mulls over the decision.  Stay tuned.

Great article by Jon Regardie in the LA Downtown News about Mayor Villaraigosa's Summer of Love 2.  Dating former Miss South Carolina and Betty styler Lu Parker it appears the Mayor has taken to saying "Y'all."  Despite the Mayor's protests,  Regardie says that Villaraigosa :has made the public almost as interested in him as they are in Octomom."

Speaking of Summer of Love 2, the box office returns are not the same as the original.  Eastside blog Franklin Avenue ran a poll and their readers - by 65% to 23% - prefer Mirthala Salinas over Lu Parker.  Also nabbing votes were write-in candidates such as Sharon Tay, Paul Moyer and Huell Howser; none of whom I was aware had dated the Mayor.

Janice Hahn was just re-elected to her third and final term and already potential successors are lining up to seek her seat in 2013.  Among those possibly interested are former CD15 Councilman Rudy Svorinich who thanks to Measure R could pull a Richard Alarcon one term return act and be an immediate lame duck; also considering former South Bay based school board member Mike Lansing.

Mayor V's Girlfriend Gets Her Betty Done

Yes folks KTLA's Lu Parker actually did a television news story about styling her pubic hair.  Somehow I don't think Mirthala would ever have done this.  Does anyone want to call the 3rd Floor and ask what color she got? Now I think I've seen everything. Hat tip, to an anonymous reader.

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

Woo-hoo it's already Wednesday!

It's the battle between Joseph Mailander's and Antonio Villaraigosa's Eastside. Latinos in the traditional neigborhoods east of the LA River are aghast as the yuppies who've moved to Silver Lake, Los Feliz and Echo Park and have annexed it to East Los. As one Boyle Heights poet said "If you look at the downtown skyline and city hall is on your left, you are not the Eastside.  It's a simple geographical fact."

Zuma Dogg is still mulling over whether or not he will run for the City Council seat to be vacated by Wendy Greuel. He notes the uphill battle of gathering hundreds of signatures for a nominating petition; tasks that were barely surmounted by Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and City Controller candidate Nick Patsaouras (and failed at by candidates Guillermo Huesca and Ben Austin).  If Zuma does run he says won't use the occupation of economist as his ballot designation; especially since we know one candidate who had a cow over that. In the meantime, an anti-ZD Mayor Sam reader says they'll challenge Zuma Dogg's residency but in this world of the City Clerk's "don't ask don't tell - you are if you say you are" policy that won't go anywhere.

NewsBusters points out that in reporting of the controversy around Mayor Villaraigosa's latest girlfriend the LA Times has failed to note his party affiliation whereas they do so for embattled local Republicans such as former Orange County Sheriff Mike Carona.  In the meantime The Enterprise Report notes that KTLA General Manager isn't so concerned that his reporter Lu Parker is dating the mayor because he himself has dated reporters who have worked for him such as KCAL's Mia Lee. Well it's all in the family in LA.

In between the playa move of taking his new galpal to a bookstore (a classic maneuver any guy worth his salt knows will impress a lady), Mayor Villaraigosa signed the City Budget.  Lots of cuts and layoffs are promised; with the Mayor stating that fiscal realities will require to City to "calibrate' to the new financial paradigm.  One of the Mayor's plans to raise dough for the City has been to sell the City's parking meters and municipal lots to private operators.  However Councilmember Bill Rosendahl told his fellow members as well as the Ctiy's Chief Legislative Analyst that's a prescription to be run out on a rail as he expects Chicago Mayor Richard Daley will be for enacting a similar plan in the Windy City.

The controversial plan to build thousands of homes in the Newhall Pass known as Las Lomas may not be dead after all.  The Santa Clarita City Council is considering a draft environmental impact report while the company behind the project, Las Lomas Land, LLC says they plan to move forward.  Of course pigs also will fly and Mayor V will stop dating reporters.

Let's Hope The Mayor Got His Swine Flu Shot

Yes this is a new low but a reader sent it along and I could not resist.  Feel free to flog me.  Or read any of the other articles on the blog. Move along now. C'mon.  Nothing else to see here.  Please don't feed the pigs.

Lu Parker Spits on Bill Cosby

UPDATE: KRLA's Kevin James approves of Lu's physique. Thanks Kevin for your support!

In this clip from the KTLA Morning News new Mayoral squeeze Lu Parker hocks a loogie on Bill Cosby.

And here Lu shows off her modeling talents:

And where it all stared, the 1994 Miss USA Pageant Swimsuit Competition (Lu is the eighth contestant featured, she also appears to have lost her Southern accent):

Another Girlfriend for Mayor Villaraigosa?

undefinedCan you say soncha? Does Mayor Villaragiosa have another TV reporter girlfriend? The LA Times and KNBC are reporting the Mayor and KTLA journo and former Miss USA Lu Parker (has Perez Hilton questioned her views on gay marriage?) were seen to be very "chummy" at a Larchmont book and were overheard to discuss an upcoming "trip."

From the Times "The mayor’s spokesman, Matt Szabo, declined to comment 'on the mayor's personal life.'" (Please Wendy Gruel hire Matt back and get him out of these nonsense. We are very worried for him. Working in the Controller's Office would be a great relief for Matt.)

What a great way to start another summer of love! The last one was so much fun! Thanks Tony!

UPDATE: LA Times reports Parker told her bosses she is dating the Mayor and KTLA has confirmed such: “There is no concern as to the ethics whatsoever,’’ said Don Corsini, general manager of KTLA-TV, which like The Times is owned by Tribune Co. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s a personal matter.’’ However some are raising questions that Parker, who has interviewed the Mayor before, may have been covering him (as a reporter) while she was dating him. Parker denies such however it would behoove KTLA to conduct a full investigation if the wish to maintain journalistic credibility.

UPDATE #2: Though Lu Parker has been reported as denying that she reported on Villaraigosa since their relationship began, the LA Times reports this may not be the case. According to The Times, "On Sunday, while working as a weekend anchor, Parker announced a story about the likelihood of Villaraigosa running for governor in 2010." This would have followed the couple being seen in public at the bookstore.  KTLA has said that Parker has been removed from reporting on local politics.
