A Post CD 14 Election Message from Gloria Molina

Judging from the Post Election Message via Gloria Molina below, she plans on remaining engage on issues touted in her CD 14 Campaign.
Gloria lays out her Post Election Plans.

Dear Friends and CD 14 Residents:
Thank you! I am honored to have had your trust and support – we built a spirited campaign and brought the issues of importance to the forefront – the simplest and most basic of public service – that your elected representative be attentive to basic services and to be responsive to all constituents.
Because of your help, our community has been empowered. We pressed for attention to critical issues – and, during this election cycle, the streets began to be fixed, graffiti began to be removed, the trees began to be trimmed, we saw more police cars on the streets, and the homeless problem became part of the council office’s platform.
Let’s continue to watch over our community so that our issues of concern about homelessness, crime, buckled sidewalks, and basic services are addressed; and so that our neighborhoods and affordable housing are protected from special interests. I am hopeful that we will continue to demand accountability and responsiveness for ALL across CD 14 -- every day – not just during election time!
Sincerely,
Gloria Molina

The Morning After Brief on the CD 14 Election Day Proceedings

Its all about The Machine as the City Council Incumbents, Charter Amendment 1 & 2 coast to victories, while three sitting LAUSD School Board Members face May Runoffs. But for a self-noting Princeton Graduate, a Mayoral Dream looks more plausible after his impressive victory.
Giving credit to "My Councilman" regarding his resounding (sounding like 2017 Mayoral Candidate) Election Victory.
The Power of the Machine ($1.5 Million), mixed with a healthy dose of Patronage (Mega allocation of CLARTS to targeted CBOs), was just too overwhelming for former LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina, in her quest to beat Incumbent CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar ......, and the numbers tell the magnitude of the self-noting Princeton Graduate's impressive victory.
Councilman Jose Huizar 11,061 votes, 65.75%
Gloria Molina 4,033 votes, 23,93%
Nadine Diaz 740 votes, 4.40 %
Mario Chavez 612 votes, 3.63%
John O'Neill 385 votes, 2.28 %
The tale of the numbers from a 9% turnout of voters city wide, but more important in CD 14, are already prompting many to speculate that the "formerly-embattled Eastside Councilman", will strongly consider a 2017 Mayoral Campaign against "The Tepid White Mayor" Eric Garcetti. Many in CD 14, especially Molina Supporters, are very disappointed with Team Garcetti, for not backing up its "Anti Huizar Talk", with a Molina Campaign-supporting "Walk", that would of help with growing support and fundraising. Now, the rehabilitated Huizar-fronted, Labor-dominated Machine, can set its sites on a "Tepid White Mayor" come 2017.
Will Pepe Aguilar choreograph a Mayoral Rancho Song between Jose Huizar and Eric Garcetti in 2017?

An Objective Forum or a Subjective Ambush to protect the flow of "Patronage"?

On the heels of a successful, objective LA-32 Neighborhood CD-14 Candidate Forum, El Sereno-based 501 3C Organizations and Property Owner Groups, with fiscal and close ties to Councilman Jose Huizar, are planning their own forum, prompting concerns about its objectivity.
Discerning community members should question whether the groups listed above are more concern with maintaining their "patronage", than having an objective dialog on all the issues affecting the greater neighborhood.
"The El Sereno Birdies of Patronage" awaiting their next Councilman Huizar "fiscal feeding".
** Blogger's Note: From the "Christmas Tree Smoke-filled mind" of esteem Councilman Huizar-endorsing "Community Leader Joe Cano", we bring this dire warning of ambush that was a "bong water backwash mental episode", come to naught ........., I want to warn folks to avoid going to a candidate forum being planned by members of LA32NC. It is going to be an ambush. The adhoc planning committee is populated by the usual fools Angela Duarte & Jose Aguilar two known Huizar haters & Kaprisha Vallecillo head of the committee appears to be promoting Scott Johnson's racist blog. The candidate forum last night (actually Saturday morning Joe) in Boyle Hgts had a group of hecklers all Gloria Molina supporters. Val Marquez was there with his troll of a sister Tere, Jose Aguilar, Angela Duarte, Scott Johnson and all of them Molina supporters. The event being planned for the 13th is nothing more than an ambush. Boycott the event on the 13th it is a setup.
With no apologies to the noted "Corner Store Stroller", it would seem that "Community Leader Joe Cano" would rather have you attend the February 19, 2014 'exercise in civic engagement (or is it an ambush to protect the "Patronage Daddy"?) planned by assorted community groups at Farmdale Elementary. We are attempting to ascertain form the Gloria Molina Campaign, who and how, they were invited to this event, but in noting recent Councilman Huizar Campaign Mailers and recently-obtained fiscal documents (which will be disclose on Sunday), they may want to reconsider not attending this questionably-objective forum ....., when reviewing organizations fiscal and campaign ties disclosed below, to the embattled Incumbent---Scott Johnson.
El Sereno Chamber of Commerce Member (and Councilman Huizar Staffer) Julio Torres (on left) at recent Chamber Mixer at Grifols.
** El Sereno Chamber of Commerce: The Chamber was given $5,000 from Councilman Huizar's General Purposes Fund Account in October of 2014 and Chamber Member Bernard Gandera, is a listed Huizar-supporting "Community Leader".

Live from the LA-32 NC!! A Friday Evening Dialog on the Issues featuring the CD 14 Candidate Trio of Chavez, Diaz and Molina (minus a certain Incumbent)

In what many are describing as the best 2015 CD 14 Candidate Forum to date, the three challengers seeking to unseat the current, embattled City Councilman Jose Huizar, engage in an objective, wide-ranging Q & A on the issues (minus the Incumbent and "Rent-a-Mob Entourage").
CD 14 City Council Candidates Mario Chavez, Nadine Diaz and Gloria Molina, seated a table, opposite LA-32 NC Forum Moderators Vice-President Kaprisha Vallecillo, President Marleen Fonseca (out of chair for moment), Jose Aguilar and Tom Williams.
** Blogger's Note: With kudos to the LA-32 Neighborhood Council Ad-hoc Elections Committee Team of President Marleen Fonseca, Vice-President Kaprrsha Vallecillo, Board Member Angelica Duarte, along with Jose Aguilar and Tom Williams, local democracy was well serve with an excellent facilitation of the CD 14 Candidate Forum Q & A last evening at the El Sereno Senior Center. The roughly 100 Stakeholders present, were treated to a thoughtful, objective dialog on the myriad of issues facing CD 14 voters as they decide who will represent them for the next term starting on July 1, 2015. Of particular interest to area voters, was the former Supervisor's comments regarding the 710 Freeway. Molina stated that despite her past support of a plan to fill the 6.2 mile gap, the political will and fiscal resources do not exist to complete any alternative within our (and a crying baby's lifetime). Further, Molina describe the demonization of her on the issue by The Huizar Campaign, citing how they are spreading false, malicious rumors about her to voters. We should note that the current Officeholder Jose Huizar chose to not attend, this despite the efforts of the organizing committee, to plan the date and time of last evening's forum around his schedule. Apparently, the self-noting Princeton Graduate is planning to attend a planned February 19 Forum at Farmdale Elementary School, we will have more background on that "forum" in a later post---Scott Johnson.

Stakeholders enjoyed a dialog environment devoid of the antics of a certain "Staffer-constituting Rent-a Mob".

BREAKING NEWS!! LA Times Endorses Gloria Molina for CD 14

The LA Times lays out its Editorial Endorsement for a Fiscal Conservative, Independent Choice needed at City Hall ......, and in CD 14.
The LA Times Editorial lays out in no uncertain terms, its reasoning.as we excerpt below.

Molina, who also served in the Assembly and had one previous term on the City Council, is the best candidate for the job. She is well known for her independence — a characteristic that is sorely lacking in City Hall at the moment. She has never shied away from questioning the status quo or challenging the power structure, though at times she has been more combative than productive. (A county department head once collapsed and had to be hospitalized during one of her grillings.) She was a fierce advocate for her district, developing neighborhood-level solutions in areas that had been long neglected. Molina became far more fiscally conservative after the county neared bankruptcy in the 1990s; her hawkishness on spending and labor demands is one reason the county didn't face the kind of severe budget crisis the city faced during the recession, and didn't have to lay off employees. Los Angeles needs more leaders who can say “no.”
.........., and CD 14 needs to say "YES" to Molina in leading Los Angeles to a better tomorrow.

Notes and Photos on the Morning After CD 14 Candidate Forum/Debate Number One in Boyle Heights

On the morning after the first 2015 CD 14 City Council Elections Candidate Forum/Debate, we bring you notes and photos from a festive late AM dialog among the officeholder aspirants.
Candidate Nadine Diaz (center) is all smiles after her performance and following retort of Councilman Huizar's "Workplace Recreating".......,
"I will not cost the taxpayers excessive amounts of money for recreational activities that have nothing, nothing to do with government,"
** Blogger's Note: Its 24 hours (10 AM) after the start of the first Candidate Forum/Debate of the 2015 CD 14 City Council Campaign (hosted superbly by the student staff of the Boyle Heights Beat Newspaper), and thanks to the stinging retort of the proceedings, directed at Councilman Huizar by challenger Nadine Diaz, many observers and voters will be pondering the true cost of "recreating at work" in the weeks leading up to Election Day. From the start, Candidate Diaz exhibited her understanding of the local issues as she passionately retorted the "Talking Points of Spin" via the Incumbent Councilman, which played well to the overflowing audience. For his part, the self-noting Princeton Graduate was clearly, knocked off debate stride by Gloria Molina's repudiation of his leadership on the Wyvernwood Project. The Incumbent spent the next couple rounds of questioning, seeking to get Molina on record, regarding either supporting or opposing the Fifteen Group's efforts to redevelop their property. Former SEIU Political Director, turned Candidate Mario Chavez showed that his grasps of the endemic issues, were worthy of him having a place at the proceedings. More photos below---Scott Johnson.

A Bloggin Exercise in Fact-checking Gloria Molina's "Paycut Mailer"

With the first of Gloria Molina's Campaign Mailers arriving in the mailboxes, we engage in the Public Service of deconstructing the alleged factual statements made within its glossy contents of what we will call "The Pay Cut Mailer".
With the disclosure of Councilman Huizar's Property Tax Issues, its a given that he will not match Gloria Molina's "Paycut Pledge".
** Blogger's Note: The waiting is sometimes the hardest part when seeking the first issues-related campaign mailer from a prominent politician, who has not been engage in a contested election in recent times. Surely, the discerning political observer were wondering when the fiscally-challenged Molina Campaign would counter the recent rain of Incumbent Councilman Huizar mailers into mail boxes district-wide......., but the wait is over and it was worth it. In what can only be described as an effective use of pledges and facts, the Molina Campaign has crafted a Talking Points Document to voters, which should instill greater interest in her latest political endeavor, while rekindling debate on past Huizar's CLARTS Fund Controversy, as we extrapolate upon further below----Scott Johnson in CD 14.

A TGIF Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine

CD 14 City Council Candidate Gloria Molina takes a "NO stance" on the Charter Amendment 1 & 2 Election Change Scheme, disregarding the benefits to her if she defeats Incumbent Clowncilman Jose Huizar.
Laying out the priority of community benefit before self-interest.
Great Friday to all as we endeavor to note the copious amount of local political and campaign news breaking within "Ciudad de Los Angeles" (whoops!! In the xenophobic mindset of Northeast San Fernando Valley Democratic Machine Operative Rosemary Jenkins, failure to use proper English in describing our city, is disqualifying of respect, Que No?).
** From "Save our City Elections" ........, Gloria Molina urges L.A. voters to reject 2 deceptive charter amendments Gloria Molina, the longtime public servant and first Latina to win election to the California legislature, the L.A. City Council, and the L.A. Board of Supervisors, has announced her strong opposition to Charter Amendments 1 and 2. The measures are set to face Los Angeles voters in our March 3 city election.
"The charter amendments don't raise engagement in local elections. They reduce attention. They give insiders more time in office and special interests more power to pick winners and losers, not voters.
"The charter amendments make public servants less accountable, not more so. Angelenos should not be fooled. Please join me in voting NO."
To read the recent article by former police chief and current Councilmember Bernard Parks citing dangers of the charter amendments, click HERE
To find out more about the 2 bad charter amendments facing L.A. voters and how you can help stop them, click HERE.
Voters should note that if the twin Charter Amendments win at the ballot box, the winners of the respective City Council Elections, are gifted with almost a six year term seat on the Horseshoe.
** LAPD Chief Charlie Beck is accepting the respective criticisms of Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Commission President Steve "Mini Riordan I" Soboroff, regarding the "Downtown LA Meet and Greet the Mexican Mafia Member Event". Commission President Soboroff and Mayor Garcetti, focus their queries on the LAPD resources utilized for this supposed private event.
** "The Weekly Weedleaf of Record" takes a break from its Pot Coverage, as its great young writer Hillel Aron, channels back to his LA School Report days, in musing on the reasons for LAUSD School Board District Five Incumbent Bennett Kayser bailing out on two debates with Challengers Ref Rodriguez and Andrew Thomas. Its proper to note here that in the past, candidates have chosen not to partake in debates that our organized by a subjective entity.
** The following below is another update on the legal proceeding involving Activist Laura Lake's Lawsuit against now City Attorney Mike Feuer and his 2013 Campaign Consultant John Shallman. Please note that we do not take responsibility for the veracity of the content.

Former Mayor Antonio Villar abandons Jose Huizar to endorse Gloria Molina for CD 14

In a Los Angeles City Hall and CD 14 Political Earthquake, Former Mayor Antonio Villar abandons his hand-picked CD 14 Political Mijo Jose Huizar in Endorsing Gloria Molina.
Even a troubled ex Failure Mayor Antonio Villar can grow weary of his Political Mijo's Tonto-like behavior which has cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees and settlement costs.
** Blogger's Note: Mayor Sam has confirmed that former CD 14 City Councilman and Mayor Antonio Villar has dumped his longtime Political Mijo Jose Huizar and endorsed Gloria Molina for City Council. The former Two-Term Mayor becomes the second member of the Villar Political Family to not support the current CD 14 Officeholder for a Third Term. In the Fall of 2014, First Cousin and former Assembly Speaker John Perez stated that despite the overtures from the Princeton Graduate during a morning coffee meeting, he could not support or endorse Huizar for re-election at that time. Now with the former Mayor endorsing the pioneering Latina Politician (in addition to US Senator Barbara Boxer and CD 1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo), look for the endorsement floodgates for Molina and Huizar to open, with the biggest one being the possible endorsement of Mayor Eric Garcetti---Scott Johnson.

** LATE EVENING UPDATE VIA THE LA TIMES ON THE THREE ENDORSEMENTS:
"All I can say is, I'm proud of every single one" of the endorsements, Molina said in an interview. "All these endorsements are good, and the reason they're good is that these are people who know me. I've been in the trenches with them from day one."
The endorsements were first reported Thursday by the Mayor Sam political blog. The former mayor did not immediately return a call from The Times. A Boxer representative confirmed the endorsement, saying an announcement had been planned for later this year.

Images from Gloria Molina CD 14 Campaign Office Holiday Season Open House in Eagle Rock

Great turnout Sunday afternoon for the Gloria Molina Campaign Office Holiday Season Open House in Eagle Rock.
Welcome to Gloria Molina's Eagle Rock Campaign Office.
** Blogger's note: What were the initial impressions from Sunday's afternoon Gloria Molina for CD 14 Holiday Season Campaign Office Open House? The Gloria Molina Political Brand transcends generations of supporters, both old and young. While today's Open House saw many of Molina longtime supporters in attendance, what stood out was the high number of youthful supporters, who worked the room with donation envelopes. The Molina Campaign is keen on reaping the advantages in matching funds by aggressively seeking the small donations from district voters and judging from the efforts of her team, they did quite well in collecting needed campaign contributions. Molina took time to address the assembled crowd and introduce her campaign team. Lead Consultant is longtime Altadena-based Fred Register, Campaign Treasurer/Manager is Jon Fuhrman, Field Director will be Sue Burnside and spearheading the day to day operations is Danielle Zapata. (**BTW, Mayor Sam has learned that Method's Campaign's Brian Van Riper will be running Councilman Huizar's Field Operations, with former CD 14 Staffer Jesse Leon, managing the Campaign, via Consulting from "Parque")---Scott Johnson.

Mayor Sam Exclusive: Councilman Huizar leads Supervisor Molina 45-36% in Internal Campaign Poll

In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we disclose details (actually the full document) of an internal Councilman Jose Huizar Campaign Poll, that shows him leading Supervisor Gloria Molina by nine points, with 18-22% undecided.
Councilman Huizar can't rise above 50% in Internal Campaign Poll.
** Blogger's Note: In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we have obtain a copy of an internal Councilman Jose Huizar Campaign Poll (posted below after the jump) that shows the CD 14 Incumbent leading Supervisor Gloria Molina 45-36% in a one on one matchup. In the voter survey by the same polling group commissioned by the Huizar Campaign's Consultant Parke Skelton in 2010, 18-22% were undecided. Further, the poll did not included three other candidates Nadine Diaz, Mario Chavez and Alex San Martin. The results were based upon interviews with 351 register voters who are likely to cast a ballot in 2015. The plus, minus on the polling results are 5.2%. Of interest when reviewing the questions and polling numbers, is the timing of the survey, which was done before the announcement of the "Private Settlement" between Councilman Huizar and his former Deputy Chief of Staff Francine Godoy, regarding her Sexual Harassment Lawsuit against the Princeton Graduate and the City of Los Angeles. In further extrapolating the data from the survey, its readily apparent that despite months and hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in community projects/ name recognition building, the two term Incumbent is in for a tough battle, especially when the Molina Campaign shifts into gear---Scott Johnson.

Its Vote Buying Time in CD 14!!

Its Vote Buying Time in CD 14 as City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose "Tonto Huevon" Huizar, abuses the power of incumbency in seeking to confront the potent challenge of LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina, in bid for 2015 reelection.
From the "Tonto Huevon's" Bribe, whoops Survival Bag.
** Blogger's Note: Great Sunday morning from CD-14 as the loyal, high-voting percentage Huizzynistas are waking up to a special gift from the reigning "Tonto Huevon" of the Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee (who went to Princeton). In reviewing the photo above sent to us here at Mayor Sam, its evident that the "Tonto Huevon" will spare no expenditure from any discretionary account (or campaign donor), in seeking a third and last term on the City Clowncil Central Committee. Thus as a bloggin public service, we offer our commentary regarding some of the contents from the Vote Buing/ Survival Bags (and take note of a glaring absence in lieu of recent news).

T. Gloria I.F. Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine

Its all about Gloria as the Political Musing Class keyboards analysis on the upcoming battle between the termed-out Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor and the embattled CD 14 incumbent Jose Huizar.
CD 14 City Council Candidate and LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina, with some potential CD 14 Campaign endorsers?
With apologies to Van Morrison and Patty Smith, there is a new G-L-O-R-I-A climbing the Political Musing Class Charts in Ciudad de Los Angeles.
At 66 years of age and not ready to slow down, CD 14 City Council Candidate and out-going LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina, has been a musing God-send as the likes of Jill Stewart, Doug McIntyre and others, have taken to keyboard as we excerpt below.

** Late Morning Update: Councilman Huizar's Sexual Harassment Trial postpone to March 2, 2015. One day before the CD 14 Election.
Molina’s decision to take on the ethically challenged incumbent, City Councilman Jose Huizar, raised eyebrows among City Hall watchers since professional politicians in L.A. tend to stay out of each other’s way. Of course, Huizar is a special case; his personal indiscretions have made him particularly vulnerable. In 2012 Huizar, driving a city-owned vehicle, plowed into a motorist stopped at a traffic light. Despite the late hour, no Breathalyzer was given until several hours after the accident, and when the victim finally agreed to a taxpayer-funded $185,000 settlement, Huizar had the chutzpah to declare, “I take full responsibility.”The second shoe will drop in November when a sexual harassment suit filed by former Huizar aide and paramour Francine Godoy goes to trial.
Godoy alleges Huizar, a married father of four, retaliated against her for refusing to carry on a sexual relationship. Godoy’s salary jumped from $47,000 in 2006 to $132,000 in 2013, during which time she moved into an office next to Huizar’s with a “specially constructed connecting door,” according to City Watch LA columnist Jack Humphreville.

From Jill Stewart in the LA Weekly:
Former city controller Laura Chick had harsh words for both Huizar and Molina: "I was surprised and a little aghast" about Molina's announcement, she says, "because I happen to believe in something called the art of leaving. Gloria Molina has served this city long and well, but it's time to pass the baton. I was very surprised that in this long time of public service that she hasn't found someone to mentor. Men — or especially women. And it's disappointing to me."
But, Chick adds, "That said, I hope to heck someone puts Jose Huizar out of office."
Grace Yoo, a Koreatown activist involved in a federal lawsuit that claims the 2012 Wesson-led redistricting chopped apart legally protected communities, has not taken a side in the Molina-Huizar war.
But if Molina can persuade voters that the City Council is emerging as a new version of the old boys' club — 14 males who vote in lockstep on 99 percent of council matters — she may pose a threat to Huizar.
Yoo says, "I think the fact that Gloria Molina stepped into the CD14 race means that this very quiet race has, all of a sudden, become a very major race. ... She's been the first Latina on so many occasions. She certainly wouldn't be the first Latina City Council member — but the fact is that we currently only have one" woman on the council: Nury Martinez, who represents part of the San Fernando Valley.
