Images from "No on Charter Amendment 1 & 2" City Hall Media Event

A small, diverse cast of political candidates and activists turned out at City Hall to speak out against Charter Amendment 1 & 2 as the "Tepid White Mayor" is again, outed for not remaining true to his past comments regarding the issue of combining Elections.
"No on Charter Amendment 1 & 2 Frontperson" Hans Johnson speaks to the assembled media and supporters.
** Blogger's Note: Please indulge with me in a momentary flash back to Saturday's evening where a certain blogger predicted at the end of the Randy Economy Radio Show, that the BIGGEST UPSET on Election Night tomorrow, would be the defeat of Charter Amendment 1 & 2. Further, those candidates who sided with the "No on Charter 1 & 2 Campaign" would reap a "Coattail Affect" for their respective endeavors. Many of those candidates were on hand today, joining with Hans Johnson in seeking a final round of support to maintain the timing of Municipal Elections, as is. As the morning festivities commenced, the LA Weekly was disclosing, via a video from the 2013 Mayoral Elections, that now Mayor Eric Garcetti had taken a negative stance against the idea of merging Elections, while now taking a "Tepid, Non-Committal" approach .........., we can only wonder why?---Scott Johnson.

"No on Charter Amendment 1 & 2" Media Event at City Hall

What: Press Conference, No on Measures 1 & 2: Don’t Be Suckered

Who: Opponents of Charter Amendments, including Councilmember Bernard Parks, former L.A. County Supervisor Gloria Molina, LAUSD School Board Member Bennett Kayser, and City Council candidates Cindy Montanez, Grace Yoo, Bobbie Jean Anderson, Fred Mariscal, Ross Sarkissian, and other City Council and school-board candidates.

When: Monday, March 2, 10 a.m.

Where: City Hall, South Steps (separate nearby covered location in case of rain: City Hall East)

Visuals: Vote NO sign-wavers handing out suckers, Council and school-board candidates, ordinary Angelenos voting NO, City Hall.

Community leaders and prominent advocates opposing Charter Amendments 1 and 2 on the March 3 city election ballot will hold a press conference to convey reasons why the measures deserve rejection by voters.

"Out-of-state billionaires are trying to buy my school-board seat as we speak," says LAUSD Board Member Bennett Kayser, seeking reelection in District 5. "Candidates backed by their communities, and not sponsored by special interests, will have no chance in school-board elections if Measures 1 and 2 pass."

Placed onto the ballot by City Hall politicians, led by Council president Herb Wesson, the 2 measures to change when Angelenos vote for city and school-board representatives are coming under scathing criticism for burying local elections and failing their stated purpose of improving voter engagement, while actually extending the terms in office and enriching the pensions of their sponsors on City Council.

The campaign to pass the measures has incurred searing news coverage for repeated falsehoods in communications with voters and reliance on huge contributions from corporate special interests, including a Big Tobacco company and several out-of-state billboard companies, with business before City Council. That campaign is co-chaired by an activist caught lying to voters who doesn't live in the city and another co-chair who is a registered lobbyist. When challenged by the fact he is promoting ballot measures that fail their stated purpose and depending on out-of-state corporate special interests' cash, the lobbyist lashed out at a leading opponent of the measures

The 2 ballot measures would change the charter of the City of Los Angeles. Changes to the city charter are extraordinarily difficult to undo.

Save Our City Elections, the grassroots community-based coalition opposing the charter amendments, will lead the press conference.

Images and Notes on the Upcoming Municipal Elections for Saturday

As the Candidates for City Council, LAUSD, LACCD and the dueling on either side of Charter Amendment 1 & 2, initiate their respective "Get Out The Vote (GOTV)" activities this weekend, we post for our review, news, images and notes from the various races across the city.
With appreciation to Hans Johnson from the "Save Our City Elections/No on Charter Amendment 1 & 2" Campaign, we now have our Official "Private Citizen/Deceitful Campaign Consultant" John Shallman Portrait.
** With no apologies to "Private Citizen/Deceitful Campaign Consultant" John Shallman, we make this early Tuesday Election Perdition, that the superbly orchestrated "Save Our City Elections" Campaign, will have an impact upon several City Council Elections, as those who were smart enough to join the growing "No on Charter Amendment 1 & 2 Coalition", will likely benefit from a Coattail Effect as evidenced below.
Voter sentiment on Charter Amendments 1 and 2 appears to be souring. At a community forum Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Eagle Rock attended by more than 100 people and featuring candidates for the seat representing Council District 14, including candidates who are opponents and supporters of the measures, event moderator and NBC reporter Mekahlo Medina asked the crowd for a show of hands on whether they support or oppose the charter amendments. According to estimates by several observers, more than 80 percent of attendees indicated they opposed the measures.
** The following photo was seen on the "Facebook Wall" on the politically-connected El Sereno Restaurant "Hecho En Mexico".
Would Francine's former Boss support the veracity of this message?
** As the Los Angeles Times Editorial Board takes the "Tepid White Mayor" Eric Garcetti to task for his silence in regards to taking positions on Ballot Measures and endorsing Candidates in Tuesday's Municipal Election, his appointed, paid President of the Board of Public Works Kevin James, has this message for CD 6 Voters.
Mayor Garcetti to now City Hall Insider Board of Public Works President Kevin James: "Your endorsement of CD 6 City Councilwoman Nury Martinez, looks so Establishment!!
** With a US Court Judge choosing to overlook the blatant, racial motivations behind the now litigious 2012 City of Los Angeles Redistricting Commission Backroom Dealings, City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herman "Mini Amin" Wesson got a mailbox reminder of some of those supposed, racially-theme comments made behind close doors .........., and surprise, surprise, he was not too happy with the content.
An African-American Strongman needed to cleanse a certain ethnic group?

Evening Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

Hypocrite on Display!!
"Private Citizen/Shameless Political Consultant" John Shallman says "Yes to Odd Year Elections", while being a paid shill for Corporate Interests supporting Charter Amendment 1 & 2, which would do away with LA's endemic Municipal Elections.
Which face of "Private Citizen/Shameless Political Consultant" John Shallman, is speaking on the video above?
As afternoon showers make their way east across the San Gabriel Mountains Interface, another downpour of bloggin hypocrisy is set to deluge "Private Citizen/Shameless Political Consultant" John Shallman.
The fine folks leading the David-like "Save Our City Election" battle to defeat the Goliaths of Special Interests fronting Charter Amendment 1 & 2, have rightfully targeted the habitual recipient of IRS Tax Liens, for his public utterance of supporting Odd Year Municipal Elections, while charging inflated fees (allegedly) for shilling the opposite as Save Our City Elections states below.
Shallman has changed his tune in 2015, however, now that the campaign to pass Charter Amendments 1 and 2 has become his clientShallman's staff has defended the campaign's reliance on corporate special interestsmany from out of state, to fund their drive to change L.A.'s city charter.
Shallman for his part, has become the reigning poster child of "Client/Consultant Betrayal" this Election Cycle as he puts revenue before supposed long time client relationships, exampled by his much repudiated, racially-themed attack on former client, LAUSD School Board Member Bennett Kayser.
** Judging from the LA Times missive regarding the upcoming Summer Corruption Trial for Montebello Political Crime Family (allegedly) Brothers Tom and Ron, expect the siblings to "sing a tale" that the likes of self-crowning California State Senate Presidente Pro Tem "Kevin de Leon the First", State Senator Ricardo Lara, and a certain "Los Angeles City Councilman", may not want to take a liking to.
** Just how beholden is CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar to the Downtown Money Interests? LA Times David Zahniser gets ample story budgeting (in the form of column inches) to note the monetary breakdown of his numerous donors and how they affect his decision making.
** Sadly, we must report that the former "Downtown Weekly of Record", has descended into merely being the "Downtown Establishment Weekly PR Organ" as it endorses CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar for another six year term while also pledging "Yes" for Charter Amendment 1 & 2.

A TGIF Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine

CD 14 City Council Candidate Gloria Molina takes a "NO stance" on the Charter Amendment 1 & 2 Election Change Scheme, disregarding the benefits to her if she defeats Incumbent Clowncilman Jose Huizar.
Laying out the priority of community benefit before self-interest.
Great Friday to all as we endeavor to note the copious amount of local political and campaign news breaking within "Ciudad de Los Angeles" (whoops!! In the xenophobic mindset of Northeast San Fernando Valley Democratic Machine Operative Rosemary Jenkins, failure to use proper English in describing our city, is disqualifying of respect, Que No?).
** From "Save our City Elections" ........, Gloria Molina urges L.A. voters to reject 2 deceptive charter amendments Gloria Molina, the longtime public servant and first Latina to win election to the California legislature, the L.A. City Council, and the L.A. Board of Supervisors, has announced her strong opposition to Charter Amendments 1 and 2. The measures are set to face Los Angeles voters in our March 3 city election.
"The charter amendments don't raise engagement in local elections. They reduce attention. They give insiders more time in office and special interests more power to pick winners and losers, not voters.
"The charter amendments make public servants less accountable, not more so. Angelenos should not be fooled. Please join me in voting NO."
To read the recent article by former police chief and current Councilmember Bernard Parks citing dangers of the charter amendments, click HERE
To find out more about the 2 bad charter amendments facing L.A. voters and how you can help stop them, click HERE.
Voters should note that if the twin Charter Amendments win at the ballot box, the winners of the respective City Council Elections, are gifted with almost a six year term seat on the Horseshoe.
** LAPD Chief Charlie Beck is accepting the respective criticisms of Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Commission President Steve "Mini Riordan I" Soboroff, regarding the "Downtown LA Meet and Greet the Mexican Mafia Member Event". Commission President Soboroff and Mayor Garcetti, focus their queries on the LAPD resources utilized for this supposed private event.
** "The Weekly Weedleaf of Record" takes a break from its Pot Coverage, as its great young writer Hillel Aron, channels back to his LA School Report days, in musing on the reasons for LAUSD School Board District Five Incumbent Bennett Kayser bailing out on two debates with Challengers Ref Rodriguez and Andrew Thomas. Its proper to note here that in the past, candidates have chosen not to partake in debates that our organized by a subjective entity.
** The following below is another update on the legal proceeding involving Activist Laura Lake's Lawsuit against now City Attorney Mike Feuer and his 2013 Campaign Consultant John Shallman. Please note that we do not take responsibility for the veracity of the content.
MIKE FEUER AND JOHN SHALLMAN PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SETTLE COMPLAINT FOR CAMPAIGN FINANCE VIOLATIONS
