Perez Hilton is a Hosebag

Bloggy gossip columnist Perez Hilton has got himself in hot water again.

First it was the crap that he pulled at the Miss USA paegeant, then he got into with the Black Eyed Peas and claimed they kick the shit out of him and the latest is that the bitch boy up and dissed M Jax.

Yesterday when the news came out that Michael Jackson had collapsed and was rushed to the hospital Perez threw up a snarky post that Jackson was "faking." When word came quickly that the King of Pop had passed, Perez grudgingly removed the post.

Mario Lavendeira - Perez's real name - has shown the remarkable ability to piss off all kinds of people with his mouth.  Here's a guy that both Ann Coulter and GLAAD have serious issues with. That's not easy.  Tabloid celebrities like Tila Tequila, Kris Jenner and others have taken Hilton to task publicly many times.

Following the M Jax post Hilton found himself under Twitter attack from Ashlee Simpson and her husband musician Pete Wentz.  That began a greater Twitter war from thousands of Tweeters who began a movement to encourage other Twitter users to "unfollow" Hilton by consistently sending out the #unfollowperez hashtag. One report on Twitter said that Perez - who has one of the largest followings of celebrites on the social networking site - had lost over 800,000 followers after his comments on Jackson.

And we thought Don Quixote was annoying!

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

In a stunning development City Controller-elect Wendy Greuel says she has "Changed her mind" and will not take the position this July 1st.  Greuel told the LA Times that she didn't know she'd actually have to "do spreadsheets and stuff" and decided that being a City Council Member was more fun.  No word yet on who will be City Controller following Greuel's decision.

KABC Talkradio host Doug McIntyre has announced his latest film project.  McIntyre, who produced the award winning "Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon" with his wife Penny will soon release the next installment in the series.  "Trying to Get Laid: The Love Odyssey of Antonio Villaraigsosa" will feature rare and never before seen footage of the Mayor along with interviews with notables such as Mirthala Salinas, Fabian Nunez, Bob Hertzberg and longtime aide Michael Trujillo.  In one memorable scene Hertzberg remembers his time as Villaraigosa's housemate in Sacramento when both were serving in the legislature.  "If I showed up and an empty bottle of wine and a half-eaten box of El Pollo Loco was outside the door, I made myself scarce for 45 minutes," Hertzberg told McIntyre.

Proving that the only color that matters is green bitter enemies Don Quixote and Walter Moore have put aside their hostilities to partner on a lucrative business deal.  The unlikely partners will open a chain of "Sanctuary City Diners" which will serve Hispanicized versions of suburban Anglo comfort food, such as Meatloaf Asado and Pot Pie de Birria.

Blogger and activist Ron Kaye has won a six month battle with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the non-profit organization that hands out internet domain names such as the dot-coms of every website.  Kaye will now become the proud owner of crotchedyoldman.com, his latest blog project.

LAist editor Zach Behrens has announced his latest project.  Using Google Apps and Google Street View Behrens will began an impressive project to catalog the number of pedestrian crossing buttons in Los Angeles.  These are the buttons usually attached to lightpoles at intersections to request that the stoplight display a "Walk" sign for pedestrians.  Behrens was amazed to find out the that City's Bureau of Street Repair had no accurate estimate of how many of the devices were in service.

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday

LA County Supervisors have raised taxes again.  Property owners will be required to cough up another $50 million per year to fund the County's beleaguered hospital system.  Supervisor Mike Antonovich cast the lone dissenting vote.

Media Alert: If you thought the City using law enforcement resources to hassle the Shaw Family August 17th at Leimert Park was an abuse of power by the City, check back here on the blog at about 9:00 a.m. for a story about how a City agency has threatened community activists with police action for speaking their minds.

The scandal around deposed union leader Tyrone Freeman has fired up the battle between the SEIU and the EAA which represents the City's engineers and architects.  EAA has begun running radio commercials calling on LA's elected leaders to begin an investigation of the controversial SEIU. With labor divided and potentially in hot water, does this open the door for a candidate with means to enter the race and challenge a wounded Mayor Villaraigosa?

A Mexican national who allegedly massacred 19 people in Tijuana ten years ago has been found living in East Los Angeles. Jesus Ruben Moncada was arrested while taking out his garbage by ICE agents and handed over to 500 Mexican federal agents at the border Friday.

We usually ignore local blog crank Don Quixote, however I had to note his comment on our post about potential John McCain running mate Bobby Jindal.  Quixote who often posts comments on other blogs calling me a racist posted a bigoted comment about Jindal's Indian heritage. Good to see Don being consistent.

If you didn't have a chance to visit the blog over the weekend, here are some stories you may want to catch up on:
And finally, apparently actress Denise Richards' Hidden Hills neighbors weren't big on her shooting a reality show at her home.  So now, the 5600 square foot, five bedroom home is listed for sale at $4.25 million, about $100,000 than she paid for it.

Saturday morning open thread

The Times has a feature on Campaign Strategist Ace Smith this morning, but missing is any mention of a certain bloggin driver, go figure.

Mayor Tony V. and a certain award winner held a "PHOTO OP LOVE IN" to tout the LAPD efforts during the May Day marches

"BIG SUNDAY" events all around the city. One will take time to plant a tree today with the official "IF YOU WILL" from Lisa Sarno.

After all there are over 900,000 trees needing a piece of ground in and around the city.

Will $4,000,000 dollars of Union dues and COPE money buy Mark Ridley-Thomas a seat on the Board of Supervisors?

$50,000,000, then $60,000,000, now try $120,000,000 for the cost of the Grand Avenue Civic Park according to the Downtown News.

And flashing back to the "GOOD O' DAYS", what a beautiful weekend it would be to sit at Lincoln Park with "D.Q.", paper bagging, swaying and doing the "ALARCON" with the chulitas to the sounds of Santana, Tierra, War, Los Lobos, Tower of Power, then ending the day with a rumble between Hazard and Clover........

Happy Cinco de Mayo Weekend!!

By the way, we found this little nugget of information in the Downtown Garment and Citizen.

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS AT SIERRA CLUB?: Word on the street says the LA Chapter felt more than a little pressure from the enviro group’s state HQ to endorse John Perez for the 46th District seat in the Assembly...Seems the LA chapter initially voted against endorsing any candidate for the Dems’ primary in June…Well-placed sources say the local’s political committee pushed for a second try at the behest of higher-ups and then strong-armed a nod for Perez, who happens to be a cousin of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa…Word has it that more than a few local members left the April 27 meeting grumbling about “machine politics.”

Sunday Notes on Illegal Immigration

The following are a few recent items concerning the topic of illegal immigration. Publishing them does not necessarily I agree with any of the views expressed.

The former Fishwrap of Record may have got cold feet about allowing comments on their piece logging 40 views on Special Order 40. According to Mayoral candidate Walter Moore, the Times deleted his comments as well as those of others. Maybe there were too many comments from Don Quackers?

Debate continues over our comment whether Edwin Rivera, the alleged shooter of SWAT Officer Randall Simmons, was an illegal alien or not. Though the Los Angeles Times reported Rivera's uncle as saying he was born in the United States, a story on an El Salvador newspaper site quotes his sister as saying that Edwin was born during a return visit to El Salvador after the family had first emmigrated to the US. Another site with a now expired link quotes another story from elsalvador.com that alleges that Edwin was undocumented. Whether or not Rivera was ever illegal; it is clear that the shooting of Simmons - unlike Jamiel - was not related to gang violence.

A report by a Tuscon television station claims that while a significant number of US born Latinos are opposed to illegal immigration and efforts to provide amnesty, most are afraid of speaking out for fear of being ostracized by others. "There are a lot of Hispanics that are upset about the illegasl just the same way as the Anglo population," a third-generation Mexican-American told KVOA television.

A report by Men's Health says that 59% of Americans see illegal immigration as a "very serious" problem and that 74% find the impact of illegal immigration to be negative.

DON QUIXOTE'S" salient observations about the "LAS VILLAS PROJECT"

Much has been posted here regarding the controversal "Las Villas Project" in Lincoln Heights. But if one is to form a opinion on this project, then lets base our opinion on local voices.

"DON QUIXOTE" is a local who post these thoughts,

"As a former student of Lincoln High and from the old neighborhood, family goes back to the 30's in LH's I am disgusted with this project and the people who are shoving it up the ass of the community.

Every school day thousands of students will walk right by the bar and video arcade, there will be unsavory characters hanging around the bar drinking beer waiting for school to get out.Little Flower convent and orphanage, which has been a part of the community for decades is located right above on Thomas St. and will be impacted by the noise and swearing and fighting and car noise of all the drunks coming and going.

Speaking of parking, where's this going to happen? You know where, all over the surrounding streets!Another poster was correct when stating that if a meeting place is needed for community affairs then go to the San Antonio Winery, or why not spend some money to fix up the Boys and Girls Club? It once was the pride of Lincoln Heights and salvaged many young lives but now it's been mismanaged by politicians and crony's and has turned into a welfare cheese distribution location and is falling apart at the seams.

No bar and video at the old Dupont/Rose Eye care location!Think of the kids and the neighborhood, are you people nuts!?dq"

And as a "Jim Healy Fan" I'm sure he would tell the likes of Councilman Ed Reyes and the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council to go "AH, BLOW IT OUT" in regards to this CRA financed scam.
