Gil Cedillo to Re-register as a Political Independent

In a seismic political event, CD-1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo will re-register as a Political Independent as the Democrat's latest Leftist/Green Embrace, leaves traditional values, pro-business members of its Party in a backroom minority.
Gil Cedillo's traditional Democratic Values too Extreme for today's Democrat Party?
** Blogger's Notes: Basta!! In a seismic political event, career politician and current CD-1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo, will become a mere Politico ......., without Party Affiliation.
In a decision influenced by the Democratic Party's Leftist/Green Policy Initiatives, the formerly known "One Bill Gil", has decided to become "No Party Cedillo" as its apparent that his Traditional Values and Pro-business proclivities, are frowned upon by an increasingly Progressive majority.
As the shock waves of Cedillo's decision reverberate through the local Democrat Establishment, the reality is that the former SEIU 660 Local Union Leader, has been the late-John McCain of the California (aka, Calizuela) Democratic Party, with his maverick-like (in a backroom) dealings with those across the political divide.
President Donald Trump Mega-donor and Downtown LA Developer Geoff Palmer.
Local political observers will remember that the then 2016 Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders supporter, scheduled a meeting the day before the California Primary, with the California Mega-donor to the successful Donald Trump Campaign, Geoff Palmer ........, and accepted a contribution from the Downtown LA Developer, soon after.
Chevron greatly appreciates the "No Party Cedillo's" support of Big Oil.
A select (angry) few will surely remember "No Party Cedillo's" embrace of the original "Green New Deal", that preserved a high velocity of vehicular traffic (minus bikes) along Figueroa Blvd in Highland Park ........., in exchange for contributions to an Independent Expenditure Committee supporting his 2017 Re-election Campaign ............., from Chevron. Also, local CD-1 constituents will remember the Cedillo/Chevron Voter Outreach done around this time period in 2017.
Former "No Party Cedillo" Daughter-In-Law, now Montebello City Councilwoman Angie Jimenez.
While "No Party Cedillo's" maverick backroom dealings are well-documented, the final act that may have been the reason for his new political independence, is rooted in an extreme-adherence to traditional values. During the recent Montebello City Council Elections, the ex wife (and current LA Mayor Eric Garcetti Aide) of Gil Cedillo Jr. Angie Jimenez, disclosed a riff with her former Father-in-Law, who wanted her to abort her successful campaign for City Council, to care for his Granddaughters. Thus, expediting Cedillo's exit from a political party that values a woman's contribution to political discourse----Scott Johnson ;) ;)

Friday Free for All

Los Angeles City Controller's
Token Accounting System
Phil Jennerjahn, who recently found fault with Mayoral candidate Kevin James' disclosure of his homosexuality, now is upset with the talk radio host's views on garbage pickup.  Jennerjahn blogs that James is a "dangerous enemy of trash." We're not sure what that means and James had no comment at press time.

How does the City keep track of accounts payable? Paul Hatfield has investigated a number of City Controller audits and found that the collection of business taxes is recorded via a token accounting system. Token accounting, first developed in Ancient Sumeria uses clay markers to record transactions.  An attempt to upgrade to an abacus based system failed when the City cancelled the transaction due to the abacuses being manufactured in Arizona, at conflict with the Citys self imposed boycott of the Grand Canyon State.

Breaking News: Court Overturns Council's Veto of DWP Rate Hike

SAN FRANCISCO—A federal judge ruled late Wednesday night that the Los Angeles City Council could not block a planned rate increase approved by the Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners.

Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Alex Kozinski found that, during a dramatic and unprecedented emergency evening session, the Council violated the law when they sought to take jurisdiction over the issue from the DWP panel and overturn a series of rate hikes sought by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

Kozinski's decision nixed a unanimous vote by the Council that would have cancelled rate hikes scheduled to take place April 1st.  "In effect, the Council reasoned that it has authority over the DWP Commission, but once they voted on the measure and turned over to the Commission, it cannot impose further restrictions. Hogwash," Kozinski wrote.

Kozinski has scheduled a hearing for June 12th where both sides will make their case.  In the meantime, the DWP can move forward with the hikes.

Jennerjahn to Drop Recall Campaign

Phil Jennerjahn attempts to get recall signatures from Republicans at the LA Zoo

"I was wrong," stated local gadfly Phil Jennerjahn when asked why he was shuttering a weeks old effort to attempt to recall every elected official in Los Angeles.

Jennerjahn, who had initiated the effort on several social networking sites and called into local talkradio programs frequently, planned to recall the entire Los Angeles City Council, the Los Angeles City Controller, the Los Angeles City Attorney, and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Jennerjahn also planned to include referendums on half the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Congressman Howard Berman and Ohio Representative Marcy Kaptur ("They are all statists," explained Jennerjahn).

Following his discovery how difficult a recall actually was, Jennerjahn dropped the effort. "That's just too much work and there's no chance of victory. I was wrong," Jennerjahn told the Sister City.

Now that Jennerjahn has dropped out of the recall he plans to host a cable television reality show about local figures who are "somewhat known."

There were no comments from the recall targets at press time.

BREAKING NEWS: Garcetti to Announce for Governor

http://laist.com/attachments/la_zach/mayor_eric_garcetti.jpgEXCLUSIVE: Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti will join a crowded pack of candidates Wednesday for the Democratic nomination for Governor of California.  Also widely expected to run are Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, former Governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown, Lt. Governor John Garamendi and, some speculate, Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Sources tell us Garcetti will announce his candidacy on the steps of Los Angeles City Hall with his domestic partner Amy Wakeland, father and former District Attorney Gil Garcetti and several other relatives, friends and supporters.

Garcetti intends to highlight his experience of several years on the City Council and his service as a Navy Seal. If elected Garcetti would be the youngest Governor of California elected since Brown's first term in 1974.

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Wednesday

In a stunning development City Controller-elect Wendy Greuel says she has "Changed her mind" and will not take the position this July 1st.  Greuel told the LA Times that she didn't know she'd actually have to "do spreadsheets and stuff" and decided that being a City Council Member was more fun.  No word yet on who will be City Controller following Greuel's decision.

KABC Talkradio host Doug McIntyre has announced his latest film project.  McIntyre, who produced the award winning "Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon" with his wife Penny will soon release the next installment in the series.  "Trying to Get Laid: The Love Odyssey of Antonio Villaraigsosa" will feature rare and never before seen footage of the Mayor along with interviews with notables such as Mirthala Salinas, Fabian Nunez, Bob Hertzberg and longtime aide Michael Trujillo.  In one memorable scene Hertzberg remembers his time as Villaraigosa's housemate in Sacramento when both were serving in the legislature.  "If I showed up and an empty bottle of wine and a half-eaten box of El Pollo Loco was outside the door, I made myself scarce for 45 minutes," Hertzberg told McIntyre.

Proving that the only color that matters is green bitter enemies Don Quixote and Walter Moore have put aside their hostilities to partner on a lucrative business deal.  The unlikely partners will open a chain of "Sanctuary City Diners" which will serve Hispanicized versions of suburban Anglo comfort food, such as Meatloaf Asado and Pot Pie de Birria.

Blogger and activist Ron Kaye has won a six month battle with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the non-profit organization that hands out internet domain names such as the dot-coms of every website.  Kaye will now become the proud owner of crotchedyoldman.com, his latest blog project.

LAist editor Zach Behrens has announced his latest project.  Using Google Apps and Google Street View Behrens will began an impressive project to catalog the number of pedestrian crossing buttons in Los Angeles.  These are the buttons usually attached to lightpoles at intersections to request that the stoplight display a "Walk" sign for pedestrians.  Behrens was amazed to find out the that City's Bureau of Street Repair had no accurate estimate of how many of the devices were in service.

No Home Depot and Home Depot Strike Deal!

Breaking News! Settlement Reached!
It was a tough and long meeting last night, but it looks like The No Home Depot Campaign has worked out an agreement with The Home Depot. Thanks to everyone involved and just know this isn't the best agreement in the world, but it was the best we could do!

What We Got:

-The Store can only open after the morning rush hour is complete (9:30 am) and all the kids are safely in school.

-The Store must close between 1:30 and 3:30 pm to accommodate all the kids leaving the nearby school.

- The Store will close at 6 pm to accommodate all of the seniors that live adjacent to the property at Monte Vista Mobile Estates.

- All forklifts must be electric powered, and the "beep-beep" sounds they make when backing must be replaced with sounds of birds chirping.

- Contractors are restricted to purchasing a maximum of 3 2x4's per visit or 2 bags of masonry.
Only one visit per contractor is allowed each day.

-The tool department will be replaced with a socks and underwear department.

-The Garden Center will instead be a mini Target store.

-Diesel truck deliveries to the store will be restricted to one per day. All trucks waiting to make deliveries will be stationed in front of Rocky Delgadillo's home until it is their turn. Idling their engines while waiting is encouraged.

-The Home Depot will provide an on site attorney to process legal claims against the company
in response to all the inevitable accidents that will occur. Latham & Watkins Attorney, Cindy Starrett has been suggested for this role, followed by former City Attorney Peter Guiterrez.

-The Home Depot will be required to erect a monument on the property in honor of "Bad City Planning".

- Additionally, Home Depot must construct an amusement ride in a local park.
The ride will be called "The Backroom Dealer-Wheeler". No one that lives here can actually ride the ride, since Sunland-Tujunga is considered a "Special Interest Group", but employees of the City Attorney's office and Home Depot can use it as a meeting place when future deals need to be made.

-Brendan Huffman, CEO of VICA (Valley Industry and Commerce Association), a guy that has never seen a development he didn't like, will assume the role of Official Store Greeter. He must don an orange apron, and is only allowed time off when he must puff up before the City Council about how the City is going to collapse if we don't give developers even more say.

What They Got:

-On a rotating basis, residents of Sunland-Tujunga will be sent to Home Depot's corporate office in Atlanta for something called "Re-Education".

-Everyone will be required to turn in their "No Home Depot" T-shirts to the store manager and be issued an orange T-Shirt that says "Thank You Home Depot" on the front and "Resistance is Futile" on the back.

-All Sunland-Tujunga residents will be required to be paid "supporters" of Home Depot at other Hearings in other communities where Home Depot is trying to force their way in. Except you won't be paid (sorry, we fought hard on that one, but just couldn't make it happen). When you are needed you will be notified, and a bus will pick you up.
Remember to wear those orange shirts and most importantly,
No Communication With The Press!!

-I have been scheduled for something Home Depot calls "Recycling". Gosh, I haven't been on a bike for years!

Mayor Villaraigosa to Open Restaurant

Not wanting to be outdone by former Mayor Richard Riordan who owns The Original Pantry Downtown, Gladstone's 4 Fish in Malibu and Mort's Deli in Pacific Palisades, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced Saturday he is going into the restaurant business.

Villaraigosa detailed plans for "V's Pacific" at the soon to be built W Hotel at Hollywood and Vine. The eatery will serve gourmet Asian dishes such as beef sautéed with glass noodles in chile and black sesame seeds, lobster with caviar and fava beans and Chilean sea bass in passion-fruit sauce.

Villaraigosa also announced that he has hired former City Council and Assembly Member Jackie Goldberg as the restaurant's sommelier.

Alarcon Declares for Louisiana Governor's Race

Just one day after taking the oath of office for the City Council seat he won in March's primary, Richard Alarcon announced he will be a Democratic candidate for Governor of Louisiana.

A number of Republicans and Democrats are seeking to succeed current Democratic governor Kathleen Blanco who is retiring.

The first round of what Louisiana calls its "jungle" open primary will be held October 20th. Should no candidate in the primary receive a majority of votes, a run-off between the top two vote getters will be held November 17th.

Alarcon will join a field that includes among others Democrats John Breaux and Mitch Landrieu and Republicans Walter Bossaso and Bobby Jindal.

Alarcon cited his vast political experience and his three trips to New Orleans as making him ideal for the post.

McIntyre to Establish Charter School

Los Angeles morning radio personality Doug McIntyre has announced that he has formed a new charter school to be located in Woodland Hills.

The school tentatively named Deig Skóli af Djass, will be housed in a former House of Pancakes store and offer a curriculum for kindergarten through 8th grade students based on Icelandic/Norse culture. Students will study the works of Snorri Sturluso and Sæmundr Sigfússon. Composition and grammer will be based on the Poetic Edda.
