In the race to find a reason to oppose
Jamiel's Law local politicians try to point to the validity of
Special Order 40 by saying that the move was none other than the brainchild of controversial
former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates. It appears Gates is no longer on the
Special Order 40 train. Though he feels that fighting gangs requires a far more holistic approach than just Jamiel's Law (and I don't think
Walter Moore or
Jamiel Shaw, Sr. would disagree with that), Gates says Special Order 40 "has been following me all these years" and "was written at a different time in (the city's) history."
In other news related to
Gates one of our readers noted that the former Chief received cheers at the funeral for slain Officer Randall Simmons (like
Jamiel he too murdered by illegal aliens) "a slap" to current
Chief William Bratton.

Gates was extremely popular with the troops. They give him standing ovations everywhere he appears. Why? Because he wasn't a kiss ass or political as the previous chief's have been. First and foremost were his officers and he didn't let anyone criticize. He stood up for them regardless of political bullshit. Too bad the following Chief's have become so political they can't wipe their butts without approval from antonio
It's interesting to note in modern timethat just about every other Chief (not counting the temporary ones in-between) has been pro-community policing.
Parker - against it
Davis - for it; created it in LA
Gates - against it
Williams - for it; expanded it big time
Parks - against it, took it apart
Bratton - says he's for it and tries to be the poster boy for it but it appears to be languishing. Bratton is even more arrogant than Gates was
Michael Higby, you have no shame, and even less credibility. Simmons was murdered by a US CITIZEN.
I feel sorry for Joe Mailander, who has Don Quackers using Joe's Blog to rant, rant and rant some more about Michael Higby.
I wonder how many comments Don Quackers has tried to post up here, only to find his new enemy Big Mike Higby at the gate?
There are reports that Edwin was born in El Salvador and was undocumented. This comes from a newspaper in El Salvador.
All of a sudden you're using El Salvadoran newspapers? LAPD reported that he was born here, but that's not good enough for you?His family came bere before he was born, got amnesty under Reagan's amnesty, so do the math moron.
The family was granted amnesty. They are citizens. Edwin Rivera was a citizen.
Uh-oh Mayor Sam you're going to have Don Wackers, Wally Barf In The Hat and anonymousa going crazy posting anoymouse comments defending the illegals and gangs. Did you want to keep them busy today?
HEY DON WACK-OFF - - -
WHO DO YOU BELIEVE THE LAPD OR THE BOY'S SISTER???
GO HOME
HEY WACKOFF,
Edwin Rivera's father had a DRIVER'S LICENSE FOR A TRUCKING COMPANY. GET IT. HE WAS A CITIZEN.
I BELIEVE LAPD AND DMV.
RACIST MORON.
This is silly.
California gives driver licenses to illegals.
ASK Ed HeadUpHisAss.
Mayor Sam you got Don and his friends going crazy on Mailander!
California does not give licenses to illegals, much less TRUCKERS LICENSES. Mayor Sam doesn't have the liberals going crazy on JMs blog. But they sure are laughing their asses off at his mountain of mistakes.
Edwin was the son of parents that were granted amnesty as a result of the war in El Salvador (which U.S. financed). He was born in the states and sadly had a mental illness in which at the end he took the lives of his own family and a wonderful officer. Nothing to do with been an illegal alien.
Surprisingly, the LA sheriffs dept has voluntarily formed part of the ICE enforcement, rather than asking LAPD for answers, shouldn't the focus be on who released a killer into the LA streets?
