The People's "Berning Man" Sanders rolls into CD 1's Lincoln Park for Monday Rally (** Morning Update)

With little more that two weeks remaining before the June 7 California Presidential Primary, the surging People's Campaign of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, preps for a Monday Campaign Rally at the City of Los Angeles Council District (Gil Cedillo) One's Lincoln Park.
The "Berning Man's Campaign" arrives at Lincoln Park.
Morning Update at 7 AM: Media Trucks Galore at Lincoln Park.
Mid-morning gathering of Rally attendees.

** Blogger's Note: As a beautiful Spring afternoon descends into the shadows of evening, a lone truck stands now where tomorrow at around noon, thousands will gather in solidarity with the "Berning Man" of the 2016 Presidentional Campaign, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. With the June 7 California Primary approaching, the surging Presidential Campaign of Sanders is going all out in its battle against embattled Candidate Hillary Clinton. Tomorrow's CD 1's Lincoln Park Rally, most likely planned with the help of Sanders endorser City Councilman Gil Cedillo, should help reinforce the reality that the local Los Angeles Democratic Machine, is divided between the Hilary-supporting Crony Establishment .........., and the Progressive True Believers/ Grass Roots activists. But more important, the choreographed visuals of Monday's Rally will play into the media narrative,  that Hillary is a candidate with issues ............, especially when it comes to likability among the supposed Democratic Party Base----Scott Johnson.
** A Lincoln Park Sanders Rally Parking Advisement: For those driving to Monday's "Berning Man Rally", PLEASE consider arriving early (before 8 AM) because local street parking is acute due to the multitudes of "Big Corporate University of Scandalous Conduct (aka USC) Health Science Campus" Students and Staff, who are NOT USING a new on-site parking garage ..... and adversely impacting Park Parking along Valley Blvd and Mission Road.
Si Se Puede!! Si Se Puede!! ........., in beating Hillary's Phony/Crony Establishment Machine.
The Berning Man with supporter One Bill Gil.
A Pre-Berning Man Rally Song from Steve Earle: "Revolution Starts Now".
Your thoughts ..............

A Comment Section Dialog on the Best Usage of Park Space

On the eve of the Los Angeles County-sponsored Park Space Needs Assessment Workshop at the Lincoln Park Recreation Center, we present a past "Comment Section Dialog/Debate" regarding the usage of Green Space at CD 1's Lincoln Park between noted Cycling Advocate Josef Bray-Ali and known Councilman Huizar Supporter Ray Rios.
Flyer for Los Angeles County Parks Needs Assessment Workshop.
** Blogger's Note: On the eve of Los Angeles County-sponsored Parks Needs Assessment Workshop for the communities surrounding CD 1's Lincoln Park (see flyer above for information), now would be the bloggin appropriate time to share a recent missive via Richard Rosenberg at the Flying Pigeon LA Blog (associated with noted Cyclist Advocate Josef Bray-Ali), that took CD 1 City Councilman Gil Cedillo To task for allowing Green Space at the Historic Lincoln Park, to be paved over for Parking Usage by Plaza De La Raza Patrons. In a area of Los Angeles that is in need of more Park Space, is not surprising that the $800,000 Parking Lot, would meet with opposition, but as we post below ..........., there is a solitary, connected enabler (or more) who has no qualms (in commenting support) about "Paving Paradise ..., and Putting Up A Parking Lot (for the exclusive use of a selected few)"---Scott Johnson.

Hazard Park Preservation Committee Member Ray Rios, with Wife Ruth, LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis and USC President Max Nikias.
From Ray Rios:

To respond to your criticism of Councilman Cedillo creating a parking area for Plaza de la Raza. What’s wrong with that? I am a long time resident and community advocate who still resides in the area around Lincoln Park, Hazard Park, and El Sereno and I’ve been around long enough to see both the good and the bad in our community. This parking area is a good thing for OUR COMMUNITY. It provides our community with a whole variety of programs in the arts that would otherwise not be available to our residents. We loved our old Boat House but if it were to be used for something else, Plaza fulfills it in a very positive manner. The video that you showed is so misleading to viewers about all the free parking space around the park. The truth is that there is little community parking on most days, especially weekdays. Between the DMV, Forever 21, and USC Health Science using up all the community parking and access to the park, their leaves no parking for the residents until after 6pm weekdays. So the loss of a little green space is certainly alright with me. Leave the few positive aspects of our community in peace. If you want to use your blog constructively, look at the other side of the park where all the community parking to access the Lincoln Park is being taken up daily by USC employees/students for free. Ray Rios

Cycling Advocate (and Flying Pigeon LA Blog Administrator) Josef Bray-Ali (with microphone).
From Josef Bray Ali:
Raymond Rios,Proving you wrong about “the lack of parking” is already done – I’ve filmed, photographed, and documented the open parking in numerous free lots and on the surrounding streets around Lincoln Park. The question I have for you: how many folklorico classes do I have to teach before I can drive into the middle of a public park? Why can’t people in wheelchairs have the $5,000 needed to bring access to the park up to the bare minimum of access standards? The users of the Plaza are a nasty, entitled, group of snobs when it comes to their place in this community. You teach culture and the arts? Great! Please stop ruining the park grounds!!!\

Saturday morning open thread

The Times has a feature on Campaign Strategist Ace Smith this morning, but missing is any mention of a certain bloggin driver, go figure.

Mayor Tony V. and a certain award winner held a "PHOTO OP LOVE IN" to tout the LAPD efforts during the May Day marches

"BIG SUNDAY" events all around the city. One will take time to plant a tree today with the official "IF YOU WILL" from Lisa Sarno.

After all there are over 900,000 trees needing a piece of ground in and around the city.

Will $4,000,000 dollars of Union dues and COPE money buy Mark Ridley-Thomas a seat on the Board of Supervisors?

$50,000,000, then $60,000,000, now try $120,000,000 for the cost of the Grand Avenue Civic Park according to the Downtown News.

And flashing back to the "GOOD O' DAYS", what a beautiful weekend it would be to sit at Lincoln Park with "D.Q.", paper bagging, swaying and doing the "ALARCON" with the chulitas to the sounds of Santana, Tierra, War, Los Lobos, Tower of Power, then ending the day with a rumble between Hazard and Clover........

Happy Cinco de Mayo Weekend!!

By the way, we found this little nugget of information in the Downtown Garment and Citizen.

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS AT SIERRA CLUB?: Word on the street says the LA Chapter felt more than a little pressure from the enviro group’s state HQ to endorse John Perez for the 46th District seat in the Assembly...Seems the LA chapter initially voted against endorsing any candidate for the Dems’ primary in June…Well-placed sources say the local’s political committee pushed for a second try at the behest of higher-ups and then strong-armed a nod for Perez, who happens to be a cousin of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa…Word has it that more than a few local members left the April 27 meeting grumbling about “machine politics.”
