Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson need your help to preserve their Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective

As a bloggin PSA, we ask for your momentary consideration of supporting (naught!) Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson's crusade to preserve their controversial Lucrative 1% Charter School Education Collective, as they face a final vote manana, from the Los Angeles County Board of Education, regarding their appeal of LAUSD's Charter Revocation of its High School Campus.
Will Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson face the same faith tomorrow as the last time they were denied by the LA County Board of Education?
** Blogger's note: In twenty-four hours, the remaining students, supporters and political allies of the Controversial Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo will gather for their next-to-last Charter Revocation Appeal at the Los Angeles County Board of Education. For Board Member Douglas Boyd, the pressure being put on him by the likes of fellow Board Member Thomas Saenz, along with LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo", her Senior Deputy (and LAUSD School Board Member) Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia and now apparent Lobbyist Richard Alatorre, must be immense on the eve of tomorrow's revote (this due to previous 3-3 deadlock vote). School Board Member Boyd has be the recipient of repeated vile Academia attacks as exampled by this from their Facebook Page. This blogger can relate to the attacks being directed at Board Member Boyd as Mark(os) knows no limits in attacks upon his detractors and feigning false attacks upon himself---Scott Johnson
No amount of demonstration (or intimidation), shall be spared in the effort to overturn the LAUSD Charter Revocation.

Or no amount of political pressure will be sacrifice (with payoff later) to put pressure on the LA County Board of Education to reinstate Semillas High School Charter as evident by the support of the "Last Don of CD 14 Politics" and now Lobbyist Richard Alatorre. The Great City of Vernon/ Senator Kevin De Leon $60 Million Payoff, ** and its dubious Legacy

Blogger's notes: We like to commend the great work of Los Angeles Times reporter Sam Allen for exposing to a larger audience, on what will become "The Great City of Vernon/ Senator Kevin De Leon Payoff". As we noted at Mayor Sam in an earlier post, State Senator Kevin De Leon "one up" his San Diego buddy former State Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez by "suggesting" that the city Of Vernon set aside $60 Million dollars to be parcel out to surrounding municipalities and yes, "connected non-profits". The big winner among the connected non-profits was the politico-created Legacy LA which was "selected" for a $5 Million dollar grant. Since our earlier report, Legacy LA has lost its GRYD Prevention Contract and been targeted by multiple break-ins that has seen rampant vandalism and thief of property, not exactly a great organization to be investing millions of dirty Vernon dollars---Scott Johnson.
The ex. City of Vernon Power Plant Lobbyist/Assemblyman/CD 14 City Councilman Richard Alatorre with former staffer now Legacy LA Executive Director Maria Lou Calanche. How much influence did Alatorre have in Legacy LA's selection as part of the "Great Payoff"?
Note the collaboration of Richard Alatorre and Senator Kevin De Leon in the recent Legacy LA fundraiser that was partially supported by 7-Eleven which wants to increase beer and wine sale in sensitive communities.
BTW, this person wins the political perception award.

Ken Murray at 8:29 AM December 13, 2011 from the Times comments. The piece of the puzzle that is not mentioned is how the $60 million will be spent.  Sure, on various parks. sure. But in reality, it will be on various contractors, or relatives, or friends, that when examined, will be seen to be giving lavishly to the same pols that accomplished this shakedown.  And shakedown it was. (Something Richard, Lou and Kevin know all to well.)

HACLA reforms start here ............

A Robbie Canal incarnation of former CD 14 City Councilman Richard Alatorre via City Beat.
If you want true reform at the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) or ast the City of Los Angeles Housing Department, then answer this (and shallow, white-wash "Valley Greuel" audits don't count), why did former CD 14 City Councilman Richard Alatorre turn "stealth lobbyist to the connected few", get this type of no paper contract from HACLA? This from Los Angeles Times Scribe David Zahniser.
At the same time that he was helping ADI lobby city officials, Alatorre was also a consultant to the city's housing authority, which manages low-income rental units for 60,000 needy families. That agency paid Alatorre $79,200 between August 2005 and April 2008 to handle political strategy, government affairs and union relations, spokesman Eric Brown said. Brown also said a written contract between his agency Alatorre does not exist. Does anyone get the "big picture" here?

There is no doubt that the political grandstands are filling up with those who feign outrage at the latest fiscal transgressions at an agency that could of breed "grand staffers of corruption" after years of dubious dealings, but as the likes of KCET, the Los Angeles Times, City Councilman Dennis Zine and the City Controller Wendy "The Valley Greuel" (with former City Controller Laura Chick damning her replacement's oversight of HACLA) join in denouncing HACLA's "corporate culture", lets not loose site of those who created this nefarious culture of corruption long before Rudy Montiel's reign at HACLA. And in the end, $1.2 Million buys alot of hush.

** LA TImes via David Zahniser and Steve Lopez have more on the HACLA Scandal with comments from a mayor's office in denial and tenants of the Jordan Downs Projects respectively.

More on this in the days ahead ..........

Legacy LA's Lou Calanche's "$5 Million Dollar Public Comment" to the Vernon City Council

Did former CD 14 City Councilman and Legacy LA Executive Director Lou Calanche boss Richard Alatorre's lobbying on the behalf of the City of Vernon Power Plant proposal, help with expediting the $5 Million Dollar gift to Legacy LA?
As more becomes known about State Senator Kevin De Leon's "City of Vernon Payoff, errrr, Reform Package" it becomes more apparent that Vernon's late-hour approval of Senator's De Leon's shakedown, whoops, proposals may have some legal consequences for one 'connected non-profit". IRS statues state that a 501-C3 cannot advocate for a political position or cause. Thus, the comments below by Legacy LA's Lou Calanche and a youth associate may have some repercussions. Further, we have learned that Senator De Leon's Vernon proposals, garnered a negative response at Resurrection Parish in Boyle Heights, with chants of "you can't buy our dirty lungs". But apparently, Calanche and her associates operate under a different mindset, which should not be surprising, considering that Legacy LA was created by the politico community.
Maria Lou Calanche of Legacy LA, advised that she supports the new reforms proposed by Senator de Leon. She described the reforms as good for Vernon and a benefit to surrounding communities. Marlene Arazo, a youth at Legacy La echoed Calanche's support. As a youth who has experienced the air quality issues, she supports Senator de Leon's proposals.

It would not be a surprise if the likes of Assembly Speaker and AB 46 Author John Perez's office, might find some interest in Calanche's comments and others may see the Legacy payoff as just a "continuation of business as usual in Vernon", with new puppet masters.

Legacy LA Fundraiser co-hosted by Richard Alatorre and sponsored in part by 7-Eleven

If anyone questioned the notion that the politicians-created non-profit Legacy LA was not connected, the picture above of Legacy LA's Executive Director Lou Calanche with former boss and CD 14 City Councilman Richard Alatorre should end that thought. BTW, wonder if Alatorre shared with his former staffer what he did for the $79,200 dollars that the City of Los Angels Housing Authority paid him without written contract, between 2005-2008?
Turnout for Legacy LA Fundraiser at the Hazard Park Armory.
It pays to shill for more corporate beer and wine sales in sensitive communities. Legacy LA's Mission Statement should state, "supporting increase beer and wine sales in sensitive communities to better serve at-risk youths". (and garner future GRYD Contracts).

Former ADI Lobbyist Richard Alatorre to co-host fundraiser for Legacy LA while Veteran fears lost of American Dream

Will Richard Alatorre share some ADI love with his former staffer Lou Calanche? Maybe Kevin De Leon can implore the youth of Legacy LA to dream of shilling for the likes of beer and wine seller 7-eleven, at the expense of a navy veteran turned small business owner? (read document of De Leon's support for 7-eleven after the jump).
Legacy LA supporter and Ramona Gardens Resident Advisory Council Member Liliana Martinez testifies (at 26:45 mark on video) on the behalf of 7-eleven as noted in previous Mayor Sam post. What did Legacy LA get in return for their support of 7-eleven at this hearing? View pictures of Martinez "side-(walk) business" after the jump.

Mid-day Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Scene for Monday

Note to LA Weekly's Simone Wilson, "La Raza Democrats" do exist. From Baldwin Park Mayor Pro Tem and former Boyle Heights Resident Marlen Garcia (pictured above) in a LA Times story regarding San Gabriel Valley Redistricting.
Marlen Garcia, a Democrat and mayor pro tem of Baldwin Park, which is in the proposed new district, said her community had been anxiously awaiting the proposed district maps in hopes that they might bring better representation for low-income Latinos. She said she hoped a new representative would be a Democrat and Latino.
Since she cast her first vote as a teenager growing up in Boyle Heights, Garcia said, "I knew I needed someone in office who has my color skin, spoke my language and understood my living conditions and culture. It had a huge impact." So much for judging leaders merely by the content of their character.

2005 meet 2009 in the political world of "Ace"

If one cups his ears in the direction of the local political past around 2005, most would surely hear the echos of the "Big O" imploring us to re-elect "Mr. Persona" to another four dull years overseeing Spring Street from some boring third floor office.

Others will surely remember the columns of disinformation originating from the "GRAYING COUGAR IN HEAT FOR VILLAR ON SPRING STREET" who would know no journalistic boundary or fact checks in accepting Ace/Parke's (with Mike driving the car) dirty missives about James Hahn as gospel, as they flung themselves on the new political flavor of the moment, one Antonio Villaraigosa.

Indeed for some fleeting moment in 2005, many including myself did buy into the Ace/Parke (with Mike behind the wheel), created facade that the former hill-sliding homie from "Northern Boyle Heights" would unite us in his dreams of a better "CIUDAD DE LOS ANGELES".

Now four years later, Ace minus Parke (with Mike nearby in the car), are resorting to the same political comic book of kid-like antics (the Rat), in Villar's quest to seat the "westside political guy", Jack Weiss as City Attorney.

But what Ace did not count on when he undertook this latest effort for the Villar Machine, is a city populance who has grown wary of backing any person or initiative from the 11/100% Mayor.

The defeat of Prop B highlighted the brewing backlash at City Hall. Mix in the likes of IBEW, Nahai, Latham & Watkins, Home Depot, Billboards, Density, Jackie Autry, and marches for law breakers, City Hall has become a "superfund site of toxic political waste".

But with Ace and his cronies fixated on their efforts to demonize Carmen Trutanich as a rat, lets take a moment to highlight the some rats that Ace and Villar know well and how they have benefited during the "Reign of Villar".

The names are familiar and the numbers speak volumes.......

The names and numbers above, along with their effect on the current ethical environment at City Hall are cause enough to elect someone who would control the special interest rats that scamper through the third and fourth floor on a daily basis.

Thus lets hope the voters help to "pop the rat facade" of Ace and send a message about the need to rid City Hall of needless political rats starting with Jack Weiss.

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Sunday

The LA Times reports that District Attorney Steve Cooley's office is investigating former City Councilmember turned lobbyist Richard Alartorre on ethics issues.  Though officials are not talking much about the investigation the inquiry centers around alleged lobbying of City Council members and other officials Alatorre may have done though he was not properly registered as a lobbyist.  Alatorre has been involved with consulting work on the controversial development project Las Lomas, a 5000+ home planned community in the Newhall Pass andvarious airport related contracts.

If you had forgotten that State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas was elected to the County Board of Supervisors, he has a plan to make sure to remind you.  Ridley-Thomas will be sworn in Monday at the County Hall of Administration with a ceremony befitting a Presidential inaguration.  Marching bands, chors, military color guards, singers, TV anchors and stars galore will be on hand for the festivities

Every time in history that the railroad has come to town it's changed the area around it.  And now the same thing is happening in Eastside communities like Boyle Heights as the MTA's Gold Line heads eastward with an extension of the rail line that runs from Pasadena to Downtown.  Interesting story in the LA Times chats with residents looking for upscale retail that has evaded them for decades are divided among those who feel the community could lose it's primarily Latino, working class feel.  That being said change is already come to the area and completion of the rail line will only do the same.

Everyone from the guys who own Google to Hollywood actors are lining up to buy one but Chris Paine, director of the film  Who Killed The Electric Car?, already has one of the much anticiapted Tesla Roadsters, an electric vehicle which gets the equivalent of 120 miles to the gallon and can do zero to sixty in 3.9 seconds.  Paine writes at the Revenge of the Electric Car blog that curious Sheriff's officers on Ventura Boulevard pulled Paine over and that Paine has also given a ride to Council President Eric Garcetti.  Besides being such a fabulous piece of engineering that is great for the environment, the Tesla is a testament to free enterprise as the company, headquartered here in California, was built with private investment (mostly from Silcon Valley sources) and not the government (nor government bailouts).

MSNBC talking head Chris Matthews says he isn't but reports are that he's lining up a campaign staff for a run at  Arlen Specter's Pennsylvania US Senate seat.  Initial polls show Matthews running well behind the 80 year old liberal Republican but that's apparently because voters don't know him well enough.  No truth to the rumors that Anderson Cooper and Greta VanSusteren are eyeing Senate runs.

Outtakes from the Red Spot Institute for Friday

Hands are out all across Washington D.C. as Wall Street and the "MSM" await the vote in the House on the "Bailout of ACORN, Democrats, and their cronies in the mortgage industry".

***Vote was yes, Democrats are having "diarrhea of the mouth" in congratulating themselves in bailing out this massive public fraud that was the mortgage scandal.

Back on the left coast, the "Kennedy Republican" has completed his political de-evolution from "Populist Hero" to "Pandering Pauper".with his plea to the feds for a "little scratch" that totals $7,000,000,000.

A thought that the "Kennedy Republican" might want to ponder from the "Sinking Buick" of his "tenure" as Governor, is declaring a "Regulation and Tax Holiday" to stimulate some "redness" into the blue-ailing California economy.

The Los Angeles Times, aka "THE OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STRRET" says "NO" to LAUSD"s $7,000,000,000 bond proposal Prop Q (uesidillas for Monica), while giving a "YES" to the Los Angeles Community College District bond proposal Prop J (acking public money to turn the Southwest Museum into a college campus).

Then check out the spin on the Southwest Museum's "Line Item" in the bond proposal,

The debate about this sensible measure has been sidetracked by one of its proposed projects, the construction of classrooms at the Southwest Museum, currently undergoing a much-delayed renovation. Museum partisans, who are fighting to see it reopen, have alleged that supporting Measure J would transform the museum into a campus. That's not true. The district is only setting aside funds should space become available. If that happens, classrooms would supplement the museum, not replace it, and building them would represent an entirely legitimate use of this small portion of the bond proceeds. That neighborhood disagreement should not be an excuse to scuttle a measure so important to the entire Los Angeles area.

Nice of the Times to remember that there is a "Southwest Museum Controversy".

.....and lastly, David Zahniser has a little diddy on an out-going department head who wanted to have a "BIG" party as he transition from city employee to future shill for businesses who seek investments from the city employees retirement fund, aka LACERS.

One can say that you must be on the fast track to becoming a "Big Shill" if you get Richard Alatorre and Goerge Pla (your new boss) to attend.

Friend of Alatorre, Villar, Huizar faces Eviction from CalTrans Property

He went before the City Council and had choice words for Zuma Dogg. His CD 14 connections include Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Richard Alatorre and of course the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN AS JOSE HUIZAR" among others. A attorney by day he sleeps in state-owned housing for a nominal rent, or should we say "did"?

A couple on months back we posted a rumor connected to the person above,

***........and this from a source in CD 14. A official from CalTrans who oversees State owned properties in El Sereno, South Pasadena, and Pasadena, quickly departed a meeting when informed that an "certain person" was invited. Apparently threats has been made against this official by a person with interest in CalTrans properties.

Now it has been learned that Caltran Tenants Association Rep. Don Jones faces eviction from his Caltrans residence.

Whether this is related to the above incident is still murky at this time, but his past actions reveals a confrontational persona, and a connected one at that.

Posters in the past have made the connection to Jones and the "cast of characters" that make up the LA 32 Neighborhood Council, with a good number of them benefiting from their access to CalTrans porperties that lie along the 710 right a way in El Sereno, South Pasadena, and Pasadena.

More to follow.............

Eastside Insider Lou Moret faces lawsuit in South Gate for "Robles Era Dealings"

In CD 14 political folklore, the 1984 attempted recall of then Councilman Art Snyder stands out as one of the formative political events which help heralded the entry of Latinos into modern day City of Los Angeles politics.

One can remember Steve Rodriguez, once the host of President Jimmy Carter for a overnight visit in his Hillside Village home, who parley that visit into political capital, thus initiating the recall of Snyder. But who was the late minute entry into the race to unseat Snyder that year? That person, Lou Moret, is in the news today for his dealings with convicted South Gate politician Albert Robles.

The City of South Gate since recalling the associates of the Robles Machine, have been working non-stop using the legal system to go after after the recipients of the political payola dished out by Robles and their cronies.
During the Federal Corruption Trial of Albert Robles it was disclosed that Robles and Lou Moret had a relationship that dated back to the heady days of Robles entry into politics.
Moret, former Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Richard Alatorre and well known for his work inside the boxing ring as a referee of numerous Championship Prize Fights, offer advise to the young ambitious Robles which grew into a "mentorship" over time...and a $12,000 a month consulting contract.
That relationship led to advising Robles on the issuance of contracts and hiring at South Gate City Hall. Those dealings have led South Gate officials to file a lawsuit against Moret for his role in issuing the "KlistoffTrash Contract" that was a key part of the successful prosecution by federal prosecutors of Albert Robles.
Moret, who holds a Doctorate in Public Administration was just appointed to a seat on the CalPERS Board of Directors by outgoing Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez. The board oversees investments of public employees retirement funds.

Outtakes from Metro, East by Northeast.......

Mid-day missives on topics germaine to points east and northeast of the "Tower of Waste on Spring Street".

"Look for the un...,err, Reagan label"
State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas support by labor unions in his quest to replace Yvonne Burke on the Board of Supervisors, has been reported, discussed, and debated, in regards to the impact on the outcome in November's runoff.

But today, the LA Times reports how the Thomas campaign bought their way onto a Republican "Slate Mailer"which honors the virtues of the Reagan Revolution. This is the same guy who strategy was to paint his opponent City Councilman Bernard Parks as someone "too conservative" for the 2nd District seat.
Excerpts below,
Ridley-Thomas paid $2,400 to get his name on a Republican mailer touting the legacy of Ronald Reagan, according to a campaign finance report. The mailer praises Reagan for "his ideals of limited government and personal freedoms" and name-drops President Bush. It was shipped by an organization called "Continuing the Republican Revolution," an outfit run by Newport Beach political operative Scott Hart.

Candidates who received "endorsements" on the mailer paid Hart’s organization, according to campaign finance records. The Times got curious and asked if we can indeed count on Ridley-Thomas to champion a "Republican revolution." Ridley-Thomas' campaign spokesman, Fred MacFarlane, said: "Well, I think, you know, we can appeal to Republican voters as the best choice for all the people in the 2nd District, notwithstanding any revolution."

The mailer comes shortly after Ridley-Thomas said he would highlight his opponent's conservative streak and assist Parks, who is a Democrat as well, "in identifying himself as a
Republican."

You can get 3 toilets for that amount at Estrada Courts. BTW, if the US Attorney has some spare moments to look for corruption in local government, then this is a good place to start.

Motives of "LA Voice Pico"??
Word from activists in Boyle Heights is that this organization "bussed" in supporters to inflate their audience at an event last week in the St. Teresita Church. Maybe this had to do with Jeff Carr, Monica Garcia and mayor staffer Abigail Ramirez being in the audience.

The world's market for copper has spark numerous acts of theft in Boyle Heights and other areas in the city. Some have posted on Mayor Sam that Public Works Commissioner Cynthia Ruiz has been tardy in dealing with these acts of thievery.

FRIENDS OF THE SOUTHWEST MUSEUM RAISE MONEY:
If anyone thought that Councilman Jose Huizar's"Self-proclaim victory" would be the end to the controversy in retaining the "full museum" on the slopes of Mt. Washington. Then you believe in facades, or are an "exclusive" member of the Southwest Society.
Friends of the Southwest announced that they have raised over $20,000 for their righteous fight to preserve a CD 14 cultural icon.

COUNCILMAN HUIZAR LEADS MARCH AGAINST VERNON POWER PLANT:
Councilman Huizar led a march with members of the Boyle Heights community to protest the "MALBURG POWER PLANT" in the City of Vernon.
It should be notice with interest that former CD 14 "COUNCIL DON" Richard Alatorre and South Pasadena resident Victor Griego have lobbied on the behalf of the City of Vernon for the proposed project.

MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA, COUNCILMAN HUIZAR, SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT = VICTORY FOR MAYOR'S EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP:
Mayor's Villaraigosa "Education Partnership" has proclaim victory in yesterday's election at Roosevelt High School, and its two middle schools, Stevenson and Hollenback. **But losing at Jordan and Santee High Schools.**
The Los Angeles Times stated that stakeholders could vote in this special election regardless of citizenship. One can theorize that "Team Villar" in addition to providing buses and vans for transportation to the polling place, could of hired "COYOTES" to provide additional voters to guarantee victory.
There is one rumor that at the CD 14 Turkey giveaway, recipients of free turkeys were ask to sign "support cards" for the Mayor's Education Partnership. Sounds like a "PRI Tactic" if true.

ELECTION RESULTS FOR ARROYO SECO AND HISTORIC HIGHLAND PARK NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS:
Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council
Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council
How will these elections affect the on-going Southwest Museum saga?

HUIZAR'S WINTER WONDERLAND:
This is no joke. This event will take place on Sunday, December 16 on the corner of Huntington Dr. and Van Horne, from 3:00-8:00 PM.

WHO SAID THIS??:
Is Pollo Loco a "fast food restaurant"?

Please send any CD 14 issues to redspotincd14@yahoo.com "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!"

Alatorre registers as lobbyist after outing by "ZUMA", ... and LA Times

Day after Halloween, and one Richard Alatorre has removed the facade of "CONCERNED CITIZEN" to register as a lobbyist with the City Ethics Commission.

Alatorre has been seen everywhere shilling on the behalf of a diverse group of friends, err, clients. In El Sereno, it is a certain "CHARTER MADRASA". Alatorre also does Unions. Out of town, Alatorre and friend Victor Griego shill for the City of Vernon on a propose Power Plant.

Yet, when he file his paper work with the city, he listed only a corporation working to build affordable housing. Just maybe "Friends of Antonio" are held to a lower standard ??

Alatorre is a institution in Latino Politics. Yet he has become the symbol of a "OLD BOYS MACHINE" that has reinvented itself under the new generation of latino leaders such as Antonio Villaraigosa, Fabian Nunez, and others.
