The Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Faces Charter Revocation, Again (in 2018)

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Administration has recommended, once again, that the Indigenous/Communal-impersonating Learning Compound operated by the Lucrative 1% Charter School Duo of Markos and Minnie Aguilar-Ferguson, have its Charter Revoked ......., as the likes of infamous Sharia Law/Terrorist-supporting Linda Sarsour ........, endorses the continuing operation of the dysfunctional Public Education Facility in El Sereno.
Board of Education Report No. 080 – 18/19Charter Schools Division(Denial of Renewal Petition for Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory of North America School) Recommends denial of the renewal petition for Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory of North America School beginning July 1, 2019, to serve 425 students in grades TK-12 in each year of the charter and adoption of the attached Findings of Fact In Support of Denial of the Charter.

Mayor Sam Exclusive: Wendy Carrillo's Educational Misadventures with Marcos Aguilar?

On the eve of the next 51st Assembly District (AD) Special Election Candidate Forum at the Sotomayor Learning Center, the Mayor Sam Blog discloses links between Wendy Carrillo and CONTROVERSIAL Charter School Educator/Indoctrination Marcos Aguilar, as the Luis Lopez Campaign (along with former LAUSD School Board Member Bennett Kayser) condemns her recent disparaging remarks about Public School Teachers.
Information regarding tomorrow's (Wednesday 11-15-17) 51st AD Special Election Candidate Forum at the Sotomayor Learning Center.
** Blogger's Notes: FINALLY!! The gloves are coming off in the 51st Assembly District Special Election Runoff between the Homegrown Progressive Luis Lopez and the CADEM Establishment/Special Interests United-financed Wendy Carrillo ........, just in time to add some spice to manana's Candidate Forum at the Sotomayor Learning Center.
In recent days, 51st AD Voters have been the recipient of phone calls from Carrillo Campaign that attack Lopez for his alleged ties to Corporate Medicine and Big Pharma (a dubious charge).
Meanwhile, the Lopez Campaign crafted the following Mailer (pictured below) that repudiate (with contributing testimonial from former LAUSD School Board Member Bennett Kayser) recent disparaging comments via Carrillo that targeted Public School Teachers.

The Recent Pronouncements of "Tata Coco(nut) Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson"

The "Aztec Male" of the Lucrative, One Percent Husband and Wife Charter School Indoctrinator/Educator Duo of Mark(os) and Minnie Aguilar-Ferguson, knows no cease in keyboarding controversial pronouncements.
Mark(os) to Minnie: "I just deposited the latest rent payment from the school to us, in time for your latest shopping spree (allegedly)".
Upcoming Disney-Pixar "Dia de Muertos" Animation Film "Coco".
** Blogger's Note: We will anoint this missive a "bloggin exercise in assumption" ..........., considering the latest controversial pronouncements from the "Aztec Male", of the lucrative, One Percent Husband and Wife Charter School Indoctrinator/Educator Duo of Mark(os) and Minnie Aguilar-Ferguson. We assume prior (or still on-going) issues with low API Test Scores and questionable Fiscal Issues are in the past ........., considering that the "Tata Coco" of Academia Semillas del Pueblo has ample time to keyboard pronouncements regarding what (and who) constitutes the latest "Coconut Vendido" to betray the "Brown Collectivist Cause", by selling out to the evil Disney Corporation ........, and that would be noted Chicano Artist Lalo Alcaraz. Apparently, Alcaraz committed a crime against the "Collective" by merely accepting a position with Disney Pixar to share his 'gift of art" with a larger audience and "Tato Coco" feels slighted/betrayed, as evident in this Facebook exchange between the two.
From Lalo:

From Mark(os):
Lalo Alcaraz I'll go back on your show to address this whenever you want. There are millions more just like me. As I recall when you volunteered we were facing real hate from a DISNEY-owned corporate strategy to spread anti-Mexican violence in our community FOR PROFIT (** Did Academia lose a lawsuit against Disney?). Perhaps now that Hollywood is the priority volunteering with the chusma may become beneath you. You wouldn't be the first. Your sharp wit and amazing art is historic. Will you be a player or get played?

LMAO!! After years of musing on the various, self-created controversies by Mark(os) and Minnie, its laughable that the "Aztec Male" would call someone else a "Coconut", considering his own mastering of the "Gabacho, Crony Capitalist Way to Self-enrichment", especially when you use the marvel of counting by Aztec 20, to inflate "Average Daily Attendance" records (allegedly) ......... Plus, billing the Charter School that pays your salary, rent for utilizing the property you, along with wife Minnie own, to pay for their lucrative, "One Percent Lifestyle", on the slopes of Mt. Washington.

Remember, you too can become a "Ragged Poncho to Riches Story" by having your fellow Board of Directors vote to grant to yourself (and wife) a lucrative salary (allegedly).

A Walking "Academia" Fact-Finding Idea for Mayor Garcetti, State Senator De Leon and Assemblyman Gomez

As Mayor Eric Garcetti, along with State Senator Kevin De Leon (via San Diego) and Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez (via Riverside), walk the streets of Highland Park touting the resources of city government, we invite the trio to a side excursion in El Sereno, in the spirit of responsive governance to possible Zoning Violations at the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School.
Bring the supposed benefits of Municipal Government to your front door steps.
** Blogger's Note: As Mayor Garcetti, with Sacramento political chums State Senator Kevin De Leon and Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, walk the streets of Highland Park this A.M., touting the resources of local government, we thought of a way to grow this idea in civic engagement to another level. With supporting documentation below, we invite the trio to jointly engage in a walking investigation of the issues pertaining to the Controversial Lucrative 1% Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School Collective fronted by Mr. and Mrs Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson. In supporting today's exercise in bring government to the doorsteps of constituents, we invite the trio of Garcetti, De Leon and Gomez to take this morning's symbolic exercise to the next level of sustenance government resolution to the issues documented below .........., and BTW, were positive that the co-owners of the Hecho En Mexico Eatery would be more than willing to host the pre and post festivities gathering (for the right percentage of the proceeds of course)---Scott Johnson.

Is Controversial Educator Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson seeking the help of Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez in overturning Charter Revocation in Sacramento?

Is the controversial co-founder of the Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson, seeking the help of new 51st Assembly District (by the way of Riverside) Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, in overturning the Charter Revocation of LAUSD?
A dejected Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson sits to the right of his wife Minnie Ferguson at recent Los Angeles County Board of Education (LACOE) Hearing. The County Board voted to affirm the decision of LAUSD, in revoking the Charter of the Semillas  High School. The action prompted this Tweet from Aguilar-Ferguson below.
Marcos Aguilar@SemillasPueblo 9 Oct
In the Republic of LACOE, all is quiet today. Under a veil of silence evil thrives.
Marcos Aguilar@SemillasPueblo 11 Oct
Assmblmbr Gomez at Grifols bioresearch, billion $$ company in El Sereno, what does it give back?
In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we have learned that the controversial co-founder of the Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson, is seeking the help of 51st Assembly District Newby Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, in supporting State Board of Education Action, to overturn the LAUSD Charter Revocation of the Semillas High School Campus.
Mark(os)-Ferguson tweeted the above photo of Assemblyman Gomez (at the far left of front row) at a community meeting yesterday within the LA-32 Neighborhood Council area. Assemblyman Gomez has been making himself notice at a large number of community events (which prompted one constituent to call him "Councilman Gomez", but I digress), but surely, the First Term Lawmaker (via Riverside) is not well-verse in the controversial and troubling history of the El Sereno Charter School.
The appearance of Aguilar-Ferguson at the Assemblyman Gomez event, can be seen as a last act of desperation in having the State Board of Education overrule the decisions of LAUSD and LACOE, which Assemblyman Gomez must support, if the Semillas High School Campus stands any chance of a Sacramento intervention.
But for Assemblyman Gomez, he should be wary of planting the seed of a Sacramento intervention on behalf of Aguilar-Ferguson's discredited Educational Collective, for the negative backlash (especially in the El Sereno Community), that surely would sprout, may prompt some to send Gomez back east on the 60 Freeway.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Wednesday

As residents below the Hollywood Sign continue to express discontent with the tourist influx into their neighborhoods, we have a blogging flashback to remember which CD 4 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Staff, help contribute to the controversy.
From a past blog post: CD 4 City Councilman Tom LaBonge's "Chief of Field Operations" Dave Ahern moonlighting as landscaping worker at supposed Hollywood Sign tourist spot.  Wonder if the project was exempt from CEQA requirements?

Two years later, what is the out-going CD 4 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Tom LaBonge comments about the problem he contributed to?
Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge, who represents the area, believes the problems would be lessened if the tour companies would park at the Griffith Observatory to view the sign.
"I absolutely do support people visiting here from around the world," LaBonge said. "But the impact on the neighborhood has been great."

...... with contribution from your "all hands on staffers".

Did the Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective Duo of Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson (along with supporter Richard Alatorre), have a good day at the Los Angeles County Board of Education Meeting? Maybe not, judging from this morning's Twitter comment below.

Marcos Aguilar@SemillasPueblo 2h
In the Republic of LACOE, all is quiet today. Under a veil of silence evil thrives.

** Mayor Eric Garcetti has already one-up former Mayor Antonio Villar in the area of information technology, as he unveil a new link on his website that supposedly allows you to check in on your favorite city department. In the same spirit of openness and transparency, we call upon City Controller Ron Galperin to create a link on his official webpage that chronicles how all fifteen members of the LA City Clowncil Central Committee, dispense and allocate discretionary funds.
** Sacramento Politicos State Senator Kevin De Leon, Assemblyman Ricardo Lara and Assembly Speaker John (First Cousin of Tony Villar) Perez, got caught up in the emotion of the moment, as the mass crowd at Boyle Heights Resurrection Church, chanted "SHUT IT DOWN!", referring to the City of Vernon Exide Battery Plant. From the LA Times.
At one point in the raucous meeting, the crowd started screaming, "Shut it down! Shut it down!" Pérez and state Sens. Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) and Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) clapped in time to the chant.
..... we wonder if Senator De Leon would clap along for a "SHUT DOWN THE CITY OF VERNON" Chant? $50 Million Dollars of Dirty Vernon Money, naught.

Stand Up for Educational Accountibility by Affirming the Charter Revocation of the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School

The Controversial Lucrative 1% Educational Collective of Academia Semillas del Pueblo faces its "moment of truth" and you can help in putting a end to the true purveyors of hateful, divisive and shameful rhetoric in education.
Academia supporter's hateful attack against Doug McIntyre and Paul Harvey.
Academia's hateful attack against a certain Mayor Sam Blogger.
** Blogger's note: Contrary to the backroom support of the likes of LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo", LAUSD School Board Mouthpiece Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia, former CD 14 City Councilman Richard Alatorre, current CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar, former Mayor Antonio Villar and others, there is a growing majority of El Sereno community members who support the recent LAUSD Charter Revocation of the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Education Collective of Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson. A petition and this form letter below, is being circulated to support the Los Angeles County Department of Education's recommendation to affirm the action of LAUSD and deny the appeal of its June, 2013 vote. Contrary to Academia's repugnant and racist attacks against the likes of KABC 790 AM Talk Radio Host Doug McIntyre, LA County Board of Education Member Douglas Boyd and a certain Mayor Sam Blogger, the letter below, highlights education deficiencies, nefarious fiscal issues and nothing about race, in supporting the recommendation of the LA County Board of Education Superintendent. Simply, there is nothing race-related in our discerning reporting on Academia, only the outing of fraudulent educational and fiscal actions by Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson and their collectivist enablers---Scott Johnson.

RE: Letter and Petition to Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) to deny the charter received on appeal for Anahualcalmecac International University Preparatory AKA Semillas Sociedad Civil “Semillas” on October 8, 2013

Dear Board President and Members of the Board of Education,

On September 6, 2013 residents and taxpayers of the community of El Sereno who live and reside near or around the three sites currently used for the Charters Semillas Sociedad Civil - Anauhualcalmemcac University Preparatory High School, AKA “Semillas” wrote a letter and enclosed a petition to voice our concerns and demanded that the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) deny the charter petition received on appeal for Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory.  The letter cited low academic performance, failing to comply with the Office of Inspector General, Federal and State tax violations, illegal Café and school cafeteria, health and safety concerns specifically L.A.M.C. zoning and parking violations and most importantly cited the school governance as problematic that has led to financial conflicts of interest by the school administration.   Semillas’ lack of transparency and possible misappropriation of funds raises questions as to the ethical behavior of the School Administrators as the school was operating with negative net assets and negative net income which called into question whether the governing board – husband and wife duo  is adequately “exercising its fiduciary duty” to oversee and manage the school’s finances.

In a similar case, the husband and wife founders of a San Fernando Valley charter school were sentenced Friday for the misappropriation of more than $200,000 in public funds.  This legal case will have major impacts and will affect charter schools statewide and will expose other Charter School operators such as Semillas Administrators:

As in the San Fernando case we believe that a similar conflict of interest exists between the School Administration and Board of Directors including the Executive Director and Principal, a married couple.  According to the most recently filed IRS Form 990 – 2010, the married couple has received both a salary and a stipend as Board Members/Trustees of over $261,104.  In addition the owner of the properties Tzicatl Development Corporation which leases the buildings to Semillas lists the Executive Director as Mr. Marcos Aguilar who is also “Executive Director of Semillas” and “Non-Voting Member of the Board of Trustees” for Semillas, raising legitimate questions as to the conflict of interest that exists between the two Non Profit Entities.

Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson need your help to preserve their Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective

As a bloggin PSA, we ask for your momentary consideration of supporting (naught!) Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson's crusade to preserve their controversial Lucrative 1% Charter School Education Collective, as they face a final vote manana, from the Los Angeles County Board of Education, regarding their appeal of LAUSD's Charter Revocation of its High School Campus.
Will Mr. and Mrs. Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson face the same faith tomorrow as the last time they were denied by the LA County Board of Education?
** Blogger's note: In twenty-four hours, the remaining students, supporters and political allies of the Controversial Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo will gather for their next-to-last Charter Revocation Appeal at the Los Angeles County Board of Education. For Board Member Douglas Boyd, the pressure being put on him by the likes of fellow Board Member Thomas Saenz, along with LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo", her Senior Deputy (and LAUSD School Board Member) Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia and now apparent Lobbyist Richard Alatorre, must be immense on the eve of tomorrow's revote (this due to previous 3-3 deadlock vote). School Board Member Boyd has be the recipient of repeated vile Academia attacks as exampled by this from their Facebook Page. This blogger can relate to the attacks being directed at Board Member Boyd as Mark(os) knows no limits in attacks upon his detractors and feigning false attacks upon himself---Scott Johnson
No amount of demonstration (or intimidation), shall be spared in the effort to overturn the LAUSD Charter Revocation.

Or no amount of political pressure will be sacrifice (with payoff later) to put pressure on the LA County Board of Education to reinstate Semillas High School Charter as evident by the support of the "Last Don of CD 14 Politics" and now Lobbyist Richard Alatorre. We bring you an Azteca Tweet from "Tata Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson"

Scandalous ... and LMAO! This coming from the reigning Azteca Payaso of Collectivist Charter School Education, Academia Semillas del Pueblo's Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson.
"Tata Mark(os)" in costume behind LAUSD School Board Member Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia.
Your public education tax dollars at work, espousing censorship of a certain "Mayor Sam Bozo Blogger".
** Blogger's Note: Please pardon this Bozo Blogger while multi-tasking typing, mixed with laughing my ass off over the above tweet by controversial Collectivist Classroom Indoctrinator Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson. It seems like yesterday that the husband of my former Lincoln High School Student Government Homeroom Classmate Minnie Ferguson, was being exposed by KABC 790 AM Morning Drive Talk Show Host Doug McIntyre (who would get sued for his factual reporting) for his Extreme Left-Wing, Racial Identity Political Viewpoints. Aguilar-Ferguson's comments, along with the assault against KABC Reporter Sandy Wells, ignited a nation-wide debate on immigration, but what went unreported for most part (with the exception of former Mayor Sam Blogger David "Zuma Dogg" Saltzberg), was the questionable fiscal background of the Charter School. Now in the closing months of 2013, its becoming more apparent to most that the supposed seed of indigenous-based education, is in reality, a fraudulent education scheme which have enable Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson and their selected supporters, to become part of the "Crony Welfare One Percent". But as more bloggin questions are raised and the investigators review the fiscal records, Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson's retort is to call for censorship and label a certain blogger a "Bozo", that coming from the "Reigning Educational Payaso", is a blogging laugh---Scott Johnson.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

We bring you this Public Service Announcement regarding a Downtown LA Protest this afternoon via a "Gorda Boo Boo/ Molina Boo Boo Production".
Its easier for LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo" and her Staff Deputy (and LAUSD School Board Member) Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia to choreograph this rally from the nearby confines of their office.
** Blogger's Note: Great Tuesday AM to our blogging friends as yet another Downtown LA Rally/ Protest is set for the Civic Center at the end of the work day. We want to extend this blogging PSA to all our Civic Center readers, to give you adequate planning time for today's 4 PM exercise in drumming, dancing, chanting and feigning discrimination, on behalf of the lucrative 1% Educational Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson. We would not doubt that today's theatrics are being choreographed in part by the new Hall of Administration duo of LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo" and her now Deputy Staffer Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia. This in the hope of putting pressure on the LA County Board of Education and its Superintendent, to change their position in supporting LAUSD's Charter Revocation of the Semillas High School Campus. Thus, for those leaving work around the Civic Center later today, think of the chants of protest, being in actuality, a celebration of governmental oversight, done properly in the spirit of closing down a failed and fraudulent educational enterprise---Scott Johnson.
Now we bring you this bloggin disclosure in the spirit of propose new FPPC regulations, regarding "compensated musings", on behalf of political causes and personas (as approved by our alleged blog owner Campaign Consultant Eric Hacopian ; ).

An Upcoming "Molina Boo Boo, Gorda Boo Boo and Academia Production"?

The Struggle to preserve Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson lucrative 1% Educational Collective is coming to a Downtown LA Hall of Administration Protest/ Press Conference next Tuesday.
The Academia Charter Denial Protests continues ....................

The moment of truth (or the full disclosing of education fraud) for the controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, will be upon us as the supporters of Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson lucrative 1% Educational Collective, gear up for another mass attempt of intimidation, targeting the LA County Board of Education.
As we previously reported, LAUSD School Board Member Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia was hired by LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo" in June, as a Senior Deputy overlooking the County Board of Education, apart from other responsibilities. Further, we noted that sources told Mayor Sam that "Gorda Boo Boo" and "Molina Boo Boo", were lobbying County Board of Education Members to overturn the Charter Revocation of the Academia High School Campus by LAUSD last May.
Its interesting that Academia would hold a press conference at the LA County Hall of Administration before there mass gathering at the Downey Headquarters of the LA County Board of Education, but it would not be surprising that Tuesday's Academia Press Conference and Rally, were being choreographed by the duo of "Gorda and Molina Boo Boo".

"When Gorda Boo Boo met Molina Boo Boo": LAUSD's Monica Garcia new job with Supervisor Gloria Molina

"When Molina Boo Boo met Gorda Boo Boo": A new political working relationship is born.
Hillel Aron of the LA School Report Blog breaks story of LAUSD School Board Member Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia new job with LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo".
Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor Gloria "Molina Boo Boo".
"Molina Boo Boo's" new employee LAUSD School Board Member Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia.

Great TGIF to all, especially Hillel Aron of the LA School Report Blog for blessing us with this forthcoming blog post of political, tongue in cheek commentary.
Aron reported yesterday that "Gorda Boo Boo" has now become a "part-time board member" by accepting her new gig with "Molina Boo Boo" as we excerpt below (** with salient thoughts in bold).
In an under-the-radar move ( its hard to envision Gorda Boo Boo doing the limbo under a radar beam, but I digress), Monica Garcia has taken a job in LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina‘s office, which means she’s now a part-time member of the LA Unified school board (with still, a full size presence).
“For seven years, I did the LAUSD Board member job full time,” Garcia told LA School Report. “While I appreciated that intense focus on education, I took this opportunity that came through with Supervisor Molina’s office. I wanted to learn. I respect her a lot ( one "Boo Boo" to another). She is a model for serving for ( double predicate) the public.”

Garcia’s official title is Senior Legislative Deputy, focusing on three areas in particular: the LA County Office of Education ( hmmm, more on that below), the Probation Department and the Fire Department. She took the job in June, shortly before her six-year tenure as school board president came to an end.

“Certainly, my role changed ( elections do have consequences) and it did give me an opportunity to accept a new responsibility,” said Garcia. “Change is good.” ( and added pay is good for my bottom be ....., line).

Maybe her first responsibilities as Supervisor "Molina Boo Boo's" Deputy overseeing the LA County Office of Education, was an under-the-radar lobbying effort to get the LA County Board of Education to overturn the Charter Revocation of the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School High School Campus, which was upheld in a vote on Tuesday.

Its been a open secret for years that Supervisor "Molina Boo Boo" had a favorable opinion of the El Sereno Educational Collective, but for political reasons, has never been overt in her support. We understand from sources that "Gorda Boo Boo" was actively lobbying County Board of Education Members, which lit up the political radar screens of those against the school. A petition against overturning the Charter Revocation quickly made the rounds and were submitted to Supervisor "Molina Boo Boo" and her County Board of Supervisors colleagues.

We will report more, once further documentation becomes available.

The Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter High School loses Revocation Appeal Hearing

The Controversial Educational Collective founded by Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar, loses its Los Angeles County Board of Education Appeal Hearing, despite support via former LA Mayor Antonio Villar Legal Counsel, turned, Board Member Thomas Saenz and allies.
From the halls of the LAUSD School Board Chambers ( not Montezuma's) to ...
.... the floor of the Los Angeles County Board of Education, the look of Charter Revocation and dejection are the same. ( ** But the County Board of Ed must have a professional dress code).

The "Ethical Horns of Fiscal and Educational Accountability" are blowing in from the "Four Directions of Governmental Oversight", on the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, but its Founder/ Executive Director/ Ex Officio Board Member Mark(os) Aguilar, still has friends within the educational establishment.
"Tata Mark(os)" and his followers staged two days of protests, leading up to yesterday's Los Angeles County Board of Education Appeal Hearing on the Academia's High School Campus Charter Revocation, recently approved by LAUSD in a 6-1 vote ( with Board Member Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia the lone vote against).
As Public Radio Station KPCC reports, unlike LAUSD, Academia had more support from County Board of Education Members, but the 3-3 deadlock vote after hours of discussion, was "Strike Two" in the Educational Collective's quest to keep its High School Campus open, with a looming "Strike Three" coming from the State Board of Education.
Yet, Saenz and his board allies fought hard, but at the same time, spotlighted some inconvient fiscal truths pertaining to the questionable finances at the lucrative educational collective. An excerpt ......
During Tuesday's meeting, board member Thomas Saenz questioned whether the school was held up to extraordinary scrutiny when LACOE staff pulled its federal 990 tax form or considered media reports. Staffers conceded that this was not an ordinary part of the process to which they had subjected other schools.
Board member Douglas Boyd said the major problem with the school's appeal was its inability to provide requested information - echoing a complaint by L.A. Unified officials who criticized the school for refusing to provide school officials' social security numbers for routine background checks.
“The problem is there is very little or no transparency outside the school," Boyd said.
From Academia's 2011 IRS 990 Returns ** Note that Mark(os) list himself as a "board officer" while drawing a salary. A major non-profit no no.

.......... maybe the former Academia Ally Mayor Villar and current MALDEF Legal Counsel did not want to disclosed the six-figures salaries of Mr. and Mrs. Mark(os) Aguilar? Then there was this from Saenz Board Ally Jose Calderon as excerpted below.
Another board member, Jose Calderon, rebutted the superintendent's criticisms of the school. He pointed out that while the school had a $650,000 deficit at the close of the school year, it secured a grant to cover it.

........... maybe Board Member Calderon would care to note where the loan (from self?) originated from as KPCC noted in a previous story which we excerpt below.
As for the deficit, Aguilar said the school received a grant from the Tzicatl Community Development Corporation for $650,000 that will eliminate the funding gap.
Parents and supporters of the school believe L.A. Unified's decision is not so much about its fiscal deficit or test scores, but about the fact that the school has stood up to the district.
Most recently, it refused to provide it's board members' social security numbers on paperwork that can be accessed by the public.
Aguilar cited federal laws that protect privacy, and added that if President Barack Obama doesn’t have to put his Social Security number on publicly accessible documents, neither should the school’s leaders.

Hmmm, not normally a betting man, I would be willing to bet in dominations of "Aztec Twenties", that the names on the Academia School and the Tzicatl Community Development Corporation's respective IRS 990 Forms, rhyme with each other ( ** See respective IRS 990 Page 1s after the jump). Thus, that would blow the horn on a fiscal shell game that transcends cultures, on the way to a court of law ...... and beyond to an enclosed, barred collective.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

Building the "Huizzy Broadway Choo Choo" is going to cost an unexpected more, good chunk of change, try almost $200 Million Dollars.
Geez, who forgot the cost of the electrical infrastructure for CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar's legacy project to self, the "Huizzy Broadway Choo Choo"?
CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar after getting whack with LA Times Fishwrap disclosure of the estimated, additional $200 Million Dollar cost to build his "Huizzy Broadway Choo Choo".

One would surmise that a graduate of a top-tier university would have the conceptual abilities to manage numbers ( or massage them for political gains), especially on the projected cost of a proposed legacy project to self, whoops, meant selfless vision to reinvigorate the Downtown LA "Broadway Corridor". But we must remember, numbers ( or the truthful disclosure of them in the case of the CLARTS Fund), is not a Councilman Huizar "pillar of ethical strength".
As we hop on the cyber choo choo of background, we can recall that the Downtown News outed Councilman Huizar and his "LA Streetcar/ Bringin Back Broadway Team", for understating the true tax limit on Broadway area property owners ($85 Million compare to the publicly stated $64 Million). Thus, a Councilman Huizar mouthpiece, can argue that low balling estimates is a virtue as long as the end result benefits everyone ( especially a certain councilman's legacy, but I digress), as Bringin Back Broadway Executive Director Jessica Wethington McLean states ........
A representative of Councilman Jose Huizar, who has championed the project, said his office would "aggressively pursue" additional federal grants. Staff members also suggested that the Department of Water and Power cover the cost of replacing some utilities, such as aging water pipes, under downtown streets.
"We're not losing any sleep over these numbers," Jessica Wethington McLean, the executive director for Bringing Back Broadway, told officials. "They represent a 100% perfect solution, which is very unlikely."
She referred to the expectation that engineers will modify the plans to make them more efficient. That could involve reducing the number of streetcar stops or slightly shifting the tracks to dodge utility lines.

........ and judging from the image above, the "Huizzy Broadway Choo Choo", has been dodging poles, power lines and fiscal reality for some time.

More Acts of Denial Against and By the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School

The Los Angeles County Board of Education is the latest Educational Body to recommend Charter Revocation for the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, prompting the below posted, "rant of denial" from its leader Mark(os) Aguilar.
Will the "facts behind Charter Revocation" come crashing down on Mark(os) and supporter CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar? Photo via Eastern Group Publications.
Will former LAUSD School Board President Monica "Gorda Boo Boo" Garcia bellow words of support for her campaign donor Mark(os) Aguilar, at upcoming LA County Board of Education Meeting (** BTW, did "Gorda Boo Boo" eat all the offerings from "Tata" Aguilar's bowl?).

** Blogger's note: Good Sunday morning to all, in the public interest of openness, we present the following from the Controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School "Founding Tata" Mark(os) Aguilar, as he responds to the recommendation of the Los Angeles County Board of Education to stand by the earlier decision of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), in denying the Charter Renewal for Academia's High School Campus. In the best CD 14 tradition, we "Cut and Paste" "Tata Mark(os)" rebuttal to the County Board of Education's recommendation, as a teachable moment on "acts of denial" ( or embellishment of facts)---Scott Johnson.

Yesterday, the Los Angeles County Office of Education- Charter Schools Office headed by Judy Higelin, issued a report rejecting an appeal to justice from Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory Schools of North America (AIUP). AIUP's student body is composed of a higher than average percentage of Special Education students, whose parents have sought refuge from the District's segregation of their children into a failed track of inferior schooling. AIUP's success with Special Education students are also successful English Learners and International Baccalaureate World School students fully engaged in a college preparatory curriculum. While the LACOE report affirms AIUP's solid academic standing and comprehensive educational program, noneducational biases are given greater weight.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

As the candidates for mayor prep for today's "much-discussed debate on Education", Wendy Greuel supporter LAUSD School Board President Monica Garcia links to the controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, may become a unwanted distraction.
....... but I also supported Charter Renewal for my campaign contributor Marcos Aguilar's controversial Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School, which continues to stonewall LAUSD's Office of Inspector General Audit requests.
But despite Garcia's "bullhorn devotion" (aided by timely contributions) to Marcos Aguilar's (and wife Minnie Ferguson) educational collective, the LA School Report Blog is reporting that LAUSD Superintendent John Deasy and Garcia may be on a collision course, again, regarding possible Charter Revocation of the El Sereno Indoctrination Collective.
Superintendent John Deasy responded directly to the school: “If you can’t comply with this, then I can’t recommend that school’s renewal,” said Deasy. “It looks like we’re heading in that direction.” Deasy said he didn’t know of any other examples of a school flouting district regulations like Semillas has done.“It always troubles me when a school is not consistent with our expectations and transparencies,” said Deasy, referring to Semillas. Deasy also said that he’s asked LAUSD attorneys about “other steps,” including the possibility of revoking Semillas’ charter.“I have to see if this falls into that category,” said Deasy.Deasy and his team at LAUSD didn’t recommend the renewal of Semillas’ elementary school last year, but they were overruled when the School Board voted, 4 to 3, to give the school another five years.

But while "Gorda Boo Boo" may be oblivious to longtime "Waste, Fraud and Abuse" at Academia, look for newly-reelected School Board Member Steve Zimmer to be the swing vote in the other direction this time around Then watch for Marcos and Minnie's supporters to make some uncomfortable disclosures regarding the likes of Garcia, Councilman Jose Huizar and Mayor Antonio Villar.

** Via LA Weekly's Patrick Range McDonald, both Mayoral candidates have seen the light and found common ground on the contentious Parent Trigger Issue, after a trip to the 24th Street School

** The reigning Editor of the Downtown News and "Scribe of Wit" Jon Regardie channels a "Pravda Editor of Note" in his latest Regardie Report on the CD 1 Campaign between Gil Cedillo and Jose Gardea. We excerpt "Media Commissar Regardski" below as he channels a Soviet perspective to a recent Gil Cedillo comment.

“City Hall is like the old Soviet Union,” Cedillo remarked. “It’s about protecting itself and there’s not going to be change from the inside.”The line is as fantastic as it is farfetched. Is Cedillo, who first won a State Assembly seat in 1998, comparing Reyes to old bloc leaders like Nikita Khrushchev and Leonid Brezhnev? Does he think Reyes is settled in the First District equivalent of Red Square building up a nuclear arsenal to hand over to Gardea.Even more interesting is what the comparison means for Cedillo himself. If he’s the change agent, then he’s probably a CD1 Mikhail Gorbachev, who introduced the openness concept of “glasnost,” which made him adored by the West and hated in the fading USSR (though there is little evidence he could become “Gorby II”). Maybe he’s salty Boris Yeltsin. Or perhaps Cedillo fancies himself a Los Angeles Vladimir Putin. The mind boggles. After the debate I asked Gardea about the remark. “You’ve just been compared to Soviet Russia,” I said. “Do you agree?”He responded with a bemused smile.“Nyet.”

"Nyet", may be the Russian translation for Gardea's chances of becoming CD 1 City Councilman "Mini Ed" Gardea on May 21.

** We join CD 9 City Councilwoman and former Mayoral Candidate Jan Perry in prayers and meditation that she endorse City Attorney Carmen Trutanich for a second term. In the spirit of joint reflection we provide the following inducement to help bring about this needed political union (or cutting of the endorsement bread).
Never leave the Office of City Attorney to a Politico Hack.
