Friday morning outtakes from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE"

Wet morning to all from the "RED SPOT INSTITUTE". Storm whimper out but streets are still slick. Think safety as you make your way to "SPRING STREET". Topics to ponder.

CHIEF SHILL SPINSTER" FOR THE EXCLUSIVE "SOUTHWEST SOCIETY":
Former Mayor Sam award winner, Universal P.R. flack, Mt. Washington resident, Eliot Sekular(picture above), spins the latest in the contentious Southwest Museum saga.

This blatant attempt to remove the contents of a CD 14 icon and give them over to "BIG AUTRY" has split the Northeast communities into pro and anti Autry factions.

But one needs to probe what "PERKS" members of the "POLITICAL INSIDERS EXCLUSIVE, SOUTHWEST SOCIETY" are receiving for their duplicitous role in the "GIVEAWAY ON MARMION WAY"
**Response from the "Friends of the Southwest Museum"** on the Arroyo Seco Journal web page. Scholl down below "High School story". Thanks to Zuma and Dan Wright for the heads up.
Also, on NELA list yesterday, the Coalition announced that the community's response to the betrayal of the Mayor and Huizar was to raise $21,000 in one night last week. These funds will be used to legally enforce against Autry. Raising so much money in one night, I think, speaks to how pissed people are at the Mayor and Huizar.

DEATHS UP AT ANIMAL SHELTERS:
Daily News reports that deaths from illness and other causes are on the upswing at City of Los Angeles Animal Shelters. I will let the "FRIENDS" of Animal Services GM Ed Boks provide the commentary on this story.

Q and A WITH CLOWNCILMAN LABONGE:
City Beat has interview with City Councilman Tom LaBonge. Labonge shills for his future job as "CITY HISTORIAN"

PORT EXPANSION PLANS "LIME GREEN"?
City leaders reveal their plans for port expansion. Port area residents and environmentalist say plans are not "GREEN" enough.
Your thoughts and contributions appreciated, example below.

Villaraigosa always says everyone should support LA businesses and help the economy. Then why was he in Beverly Hills two weeks ago getting a haircut and his hair dyed? The cost was $400.00. Will someone please tell him he can go to the local barber shop and they can do a much better job for $8.95.

The number of cats and dogs that died on their own in their cage doubled in the last year from 696 to 1,263. The number of other animals that died more than doubled from 704 to 1,984. This is a major problem. They are dying from illness and injury. They are not being cared for properly.

"Boks attributed the increase to 1,470 illegal slider turtles that died after they were confiscated during a downtown bust."

700 turtles died, not 1,470. These turtles didn't die after a bust. They'd been there a while. They bust the street vendors all the time. These turtles had been in the shelter months and months.

And how did they die? They were in an outdoor unheated filthy overcrowded tank with no dry land area. They rotted to death from bacterial infections.

"Boks said the "died in shelter" category also can include deaths at the city's burgeoning foster-care homes, at private vets or while being rushed to local animal hospitals."

Most of the cats/dogs that died were adult cats that died of pneumonia from untreated URI. 99% of all foster animals are kittens, not cats. He's trying to blame it on the fosters or private vets when they are dying in the actual shelter under his care.

"Overall, he said, shelter officials are holding sick or injured animals for treatment, keeping geriatric animals longer and nurturing newborn kittens. And animals with greater chances of dying are being given medical care.
"Prior to this past summer, they would have been euthanized to end their suffering," Boks said. "Now we try to save them."

Again, it's adult cats that are dying. He's keeping all animals longer which is how they are getting ill and injured. Most didn't come in ill or injured.

He keeps touting these new bigger better shelters as if that will save lives. Research has shown that building bigger shelters does not save more animals. You need to stem the flow coming into the shelters and increase the number leaving alive. If he did that, you wouldn't need bigger shelters. Bigger shelters just leads to warehousing.

Thanks, Dana for writing the article.

Yes, I wanted to see that controversial video of the old sleeping at a boring meeting, where he is the only one attending.

Can some add special effects and a sound track to the YouTube video??

I want to see this video at least 4times a day. It is most controversial video seen in decades.

The outrage of an old guy dozing off in the afternoon. What are the city and the country coming to when an old dude takes a snooze in the afternoon, after a heavy lunch? I demand an investigation by the FBI, LAPD, City Attorney, City Controller and City Attorney. Everybody write the city officials, we need a law against afternoon naps, just say no to afternoon naps.

We can not tolerate afternoon naps in our society, we need to riot in the streets if necessary to stop afternoon naps. I say hell no to afternoon naps.

Please post this video on every website in the country. This can not be tolerated.

Northeast "progressives" quoting the bible (sekular) - hoooo-weee.

That's tough to imagine.

1) Where did they find a time to dig up a copy of that old book (and who helped them find the appropriate passage in the "good book" in time to use it anyway?)

(Answer: It was made into a 60s anti-war rock ballad recorded by "The Byrds," otherwise they'd have never heard of it).

2) How ever do they sleep at night on their constantly embattled hillside (where one nasty land-use battle always leads right into the next), cynically quoting religious sayings out of context one minute, and gathering socially to listen to music from blasphemously named local band "The Evangenitals" the next.

We're paying a fortune for electric and DWP is transferring millions to the city's general fund yet they can't fix why we keep getting power outages. I remember when Ron Deaton said the problem would be fixed. No way should our rates be increased if this is still happening.

The Department of Water and Power (DWP) says nearly 13,000 customers are facing outages, the majority in South Los Angeles. But outages are also being reported in the mid-city area and Brentwood.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen (removes hat and bows low with flourish): Our own Pirate Ball is a little more than one week away, and with other holiday parties happening all over town, we’re sure there’s going to be some “live entertainment” in the form of social gaffes, alcoholic mishaps and our personal favorite, loose lips. And to help each and every one of you get into the proper spirit, our Bard would like to sing a little ditty that we sort of borrowed from an extremely talented and witty chap who deserves ALL the credit for writing the initial song. (Whispers) We’ve changed it a bit because we are, if you will, pirates and that’s what pirates do. Again, all the credit goes to someone else and not us, savvy? Bard, come forward. (Bard comes forward) What say you, Bard?
(Smiles as Bard clears throat, steps up and begins to sing.
CHORUS A:
I'm not going to the Christmas party
that His Nibbs having this year.
I'm not going to the Christmas party,
regardless of all the free beer.
There'll be too many women that he wants to date.
The conflicts will be too immense.
Too many women that have learned to hate.
The drama will be too intense.

Verse 1:
Yeah, it sounds like a splendid time
is sure to be had by all,
unless he makes an appearance
and starts another free-for-all.
Monica still resents Linda
for the press conference down at the beach.
Dahlilah doesn't like Rosa
for keeping him out of reach.
Maria and Lucy and Cindy
all used to be best of friends.
But, after each had a fling with him,
the best of friends had to end.
CHORUS A:

Verse 2:
Yeah, it sounds like a magnificent time
is sure to be had by all,
unless he makes an appearance
and starts another free-for-all.
Corina and Mirthala aren't speaking
since the last time he talked to them both,
just 'cause they both caught him kissing
Penelope behind a parade float.
Luisa, Rachel and Lupe
had fights at the barbecue.
They'll drink as you know that they're gonna:
no telling what they might do.

BRIDGE:
You'd think they think they've each got a monopoly
wanting all his time.
You'd think they think they each own a piece of him,
screaming “Hands off you bitch! He’s mine!”

CHORUS B:
I'm not going to His Nibbs’ Christmas party
if I'm going to plan to survive.
I'm not going to THAT Christmas party
if I want to come out alive.
There'll be too many women that are out for blood.
The conflicts will be too immense.
Too many women up to no damned good.
The drama will be too intense.
(Crew applauds. Bard smiles, takes bow and steps down)

The cute kitten pictured in the Daily News article about the increase in deaths in the shelter is on the euth list. She will be killed soon if she doesn't die from an upper respiratory infection. She's listed as sick. Please, someone go save that kitten.

save this kitten

Here's her info. Note that her age is listed as unknown when it's clear that she's a 7 week kitten. She's one of those kittens Boks claims to have saved. Another way he is sneaky with the numbers is to not age the animal. Just don't call it a kitten then you haven't killed a "kitten." People will then think it's just a "cat."

Name : FATE

A910963 - FEMALE, TORTIE AMERICAN SHORTHAIR.

Shelter: EAST VALLEY Condition: SICK Age: AGE UNKNOWN

This animal has been at the shelter since 11/01/2007 and on this list since 12/03/2007 . EAST VALLEY

Why is this guy smiling at a funeral?

Is a $9,00 haircut really the same as a Beverly Hills cut and die? Even if your aunt cuts your hair for free, the box of drug store hair dye will run you the other nine. Somehow it doesn't add up.

Me, I don't like the fancy shmancy hair places anyway, because they're too nosy and tell you what you should do with your hair instead of listening to you.

They think they're "artistes," just like the fashion designers, landscape designers, interior designers... They just want to design your head.

I say to that, I'll tell you what you can redesign.

So where do you go to get a cut and dye, in between these two options?

Maybe someone can start a blog here about the best, nicest friendliest places to do that -- where they give you coffee that's really free, know what I mean, and not really an excuse to charge a couple of hundred more for it.

My Beverly Hills hairdresser and his boyfriend already have a posher million-dollar condo than I can afford, so I say, screw them, figuratively, I mean, and let them see how the other half lives.

Standing 14 hours a day cutting and cutting, just to pay the rent.

Those are the people we should help out and recognize with business.

If they're good, that is. Once, I went to one of those little holes in the wall and the Chinese lady was very nice, but she cut off so much of my hair I wanted to deck her. I won't recommend her, however tired her feet get from standing and cutting all day. She should know better by now.

There's already a food blog: maybe if wet spot stops just looking for other wet spots around town and starts a hair blog, we'll have something to really comment on.
