Where are the bloggers?? Mailander, "WWG", Mayor Sam (just found), and Zuma Dogg are bloggin missing from cyberspace this morning.

Ron Kaye reports for duty this morning, continuing his crusade to take a "HOOVER" to corruption at the "Tower of Waste on Spring Street". He picks up on our disclosure of the monetary outlays to the likes of Steve Sugerman and Richard Alatorre.

Alan Mitttelstaed has taken up bloggin residence at Witness L.A. after his forced departure from City Beat. But his quest to expose the follies of the "Shah of Water and Power", H. David Nahai move to the "Blackball shores" of Ivanhoe Lake.
City Council President Eric Garcetti will officiate wedding ceremonies today as gay couples flock to court houses across the state to take the vows of marriage.
.....and a note to the "OLD GREY HAG ON SPRING STREET". When noting last week on the "great tank jobs in L.A. sports history", you posted a picture of the Rams "Quarterback" Jack Youngblood, what is wrong with this description??

Red Spot. A dose of reality -

Mayor V. really DOESN'T/didn't know about the illegal dumping here in CD14, even though he collected a paycheck as our "man" in the horseshoe for two years.

He also doesn't/didn't know about crime in CD14, or public works in CD14, or infrastructure in CD14, or parks in CD14, or other open space in CD14, or planning in CD14, or education in CD14, or (etc., etc.)

He NEVER did.

You may be the "red spot" in CD14; when Villaraigosa was in the council office, he was the "invisible" spot.

He wasn't here in CD14 with us in any significant form when he was a councilmember, and he certainly doesn't know or care about our woes anymore.

On the "up" side, however, I hear he's made a pledge to organize:

80 FAKE ILLEGAL DUMPING CLEAN-UP CREWS

in CD14 -- RIGHT before the next election.

Same old shit from a shitheel. The guy is a proactive stain on intellectual pursuits. You have to wonder at the beginnings, the motives.? Then you realize this is LALA land.

Is it just a stupid reflex to stereotype by using catchy ethnic titles for ethnic people? The "Shaw of DWP" just because he happens to be Persion?

Maybe not, but Mayor V. knows when and where every damn TV news crew truck is parked in the city, in any district, just in time for his next photo opp.

The last really impressive things Tony V. did was to knock off an incumbent councilmember amd mayor. Since then it's been all downhill.

Of course, in both cases, they were self-inflicted wounded prey. But it's still not something you see every election cycle. I'd sure like to get a small franchise selling the snake oil he uses to impress people and get elected, with no accomplishments to back any of it up.

Anyone can call City Sanitation at 311 and get bulky item pickup for free. (At least for NOW, if AlarCON doesn't have his way, and start charging for that, as well as for the large bins that could hold this stuff in alleys. If screw-the-homeowner- gringos- Alarcon gets his way, even more people will just dump oversized items.)

Bottom line, these people are pigs, this is how they're used to living in their Third World hell-holes where the street is the trash dump, and it's like with their turning backyards into barnyards, with the huge rooster/chicken/ goat problem.

These same people throw food wrappers and plastic bags in the street even when bins are a few feet away, even right in the parking lots of the fast food place or in front of their schools or shops, anywhere. This all ends up in the sewers to the oceans.

That's why we all will have to pay 25c for plastic bags at the store, making it messy and inconvenient, and forcing those of us who recycle those bags for cat litter and bath cans, etc., have to buy the bags.

Instead of worrying about banning fast food itself, Jan Perry, Janice Gang Enable Hahn, Bash the "homeowner associations" Special Ed Reyes, Parks and the rest need to EDUCATE THEIR PEOPLE ON HOW TO DISPOSE OF TRASH AND BEHAVE IN A CIVILIZED SOCIETY.

Put up big signs all over, with phone numbers to report dumping as well as advance pickup. Meanwhile, at least weekly have trucks cruise the streets -- those dead animals and debris getting into our sewers and oceans is serious stuff, how we'll get sick from these Third World low-lifes.

Contact apt. building owners, make sure they've provided ways to dump trash and large items. Buildings over 4 units don't contract with the city -- if some are too cheap to pay for privage disposal, FINE THEM BIG-TIME.

415, that is exceptionally well stated.

5:15, Thanks. The wording was a bit strong, but the situation merits it: this dumping affects all of us, as everything not only adds to our trash fees but the debris and carcasses and diseases go from sewers to oceans and will be spread by those who come into contact with it.

We've already got more diseases normally seen only in Mexico/ Central America than we're being told about, but the CDC is quietly becoming aware of the problem.

4:15 Its not the apt owner's trash it's the tenant's trash!

No wonder this city has little affordable housing and nobody wants to invest. If the tenants were responsbile all they have to do is call 311.

That's unprovable, and most probably wrong. When apt. owners ditch people in affordable housing (every chance they get), or when the Section 8-ers bail, furniture and trash is often left behind - and more often than not it's the owners dumping the stuff to make room for the next tenant.

If tenants had the means to move this stuff, they'd most likely be moving into a new place. Apt. owners have no place to store and don't care what happens to the communities they drive through on the way to their rental properties - so they just dump it and run.

Affordable Housing" is a myth perpetrated by the welfare state Democrats.

All housing is "affordable". Ever hear of supply and demand?

All rent control does is transfer the wealth from the owners to the tenants; the sad part is that it creates slums. Yes, I said "slums".

With liminted income and no one moving out, there is no incentive to the owner to spend a dime for upkeep, maintenence, or beautification projects. In the parlance, properties are allowed to simply go to seed.

If all the tenants who are protected by rent controls were to move to somewhere where they could truly afford the market rents, the apartments would all level off at prices that people were willing to pay to live in them.

Welcome to Economics 101.
