Outtakes from the Red Spot Institute for Friday
Hands are out all across Washington D.C. as Wall Street and the "MSM" await the vote in the House on the "Bailout of ACORN, Democrats, and their cronies in the mortgage industry".
***Vote was yes, Democrats are having "diarrhea of the mouth" in congratulating themselves in bailing out this massive public fraud that was the mortgage scandal.
Back on the left coast, the "Kennedy Republican" has completed his political de-evolution from "Populist Hero" to "Pandering Pauper".with his plea to the feds for a "little scratch" that totals $7,000,000,000.
A thought that the "Kennedy Republican" might want to ponder from the "Sinking Buick" of his "tenure" as Governor, is declaring a "Regulation and Tax Holiday" to stimulate some "redness" into the blue-ailing California economy.
The Los Angeles Times, aka "THE OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STRRET" says "NO" to LAUSD"s $7,000,000,000 bond proposal Prop Q (uesidillas for Monica), while giving a "YES" to the Los Angeles Community College District bond proposal Prop J (acking public money to turn the Southwest Museum into a college campus).
Then check out the spin on the Southwest Museum's "Line Item" in the bond proposal,
The debate about this sensible measure has been sidetracked by one of its proposed projects, the construction of classrooms at the Southwest Museum, currently undergoing a much-delayed renovation. Museum partisans, who are fighting to see it reopen, have alleged that supporting Measure J would transform the museum into a campus. That's not true. The district is only setting aside funds should space become available. If that happens, classrooms would supplement the museum, not replace it, and building them would represent an entirely legitimate use of this small portion of the bond proceeds. That neighborhood disagreement should not be an excuse to scuttle a measure so important to the entire Los Angeles area.
Nice of the Times to remember that there is a "Southwest Museum Controversy".
.....and lastly, David Zahniser has a little diddy on an out-going department head who wanted to have a "BIG" party as he transition from city employee to future shill for businesses who seek investments from the city employees retirement fund, aka LACERS.
One can say that you must be on the fast track to becoming a "Big Shill" if you get Richard Alatorre and Goerge Pla (your new boss) to attend.

The Friends of the Southwest Museum has been distributing the actual bond project listing for the use of the money. It reads:
"Southwest Museum Campus: The Southwest Museum has provided a unique opportunity to provide training for LACCD students in museum management, Southwestern culture as well as other core curricula. This budget allows for ADA improvements, HVAC, electrical and other modernization to enable use of this facility as classrooms and other educational uses. $11,546,998"
But the ballot argument written by LACCD bureaucrats claims that the $11,546,998 will be used on ONE non-historic building -- the Braun Library. Well, the Braun is 7,000 square feet. The District is asking us to believe that the whole $11.5 million will be used for ADA improvements to access this one building, and courtyard and add new air conditioning/heating, electrical, and "other improvements"? It does not add up. The LACCD is hiding something about the real use of the money if the bond is approved. The broad language of the bond list does not match the narrow purpose of the funding (mis)represented to the voters in the ballot argument.
It appears that the Los Angeles Times has completely failed to investigate how the Southwest Museum got onto the LACCD bond measure.
And, while the Southwest Museum is constructed with unusually thick concrete and steel rebar and has withstood earthquakes since 1914, it obviously is not completely up to seismic code to meet the requirements for school buildings. The Braun Library built in the late 1970s, also does not fully meet earthquake code. Is the LACCD hiding the fact that it will undertake expensive seismic improvements instead of requiring the Autry Museum to provide an seismic compliant building?
The Autry Museum silently lobbied the LACCD to slip this into the bond as a way to shift Autry's prior commitments to care for the buildings with private funds onto the backs of the taxpayers.
Something is most rotten in Denmark and public records of the LACCD need to be checked immediately to see if the ballot argument by district officials matches the underlying documents.

God Bless George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. You still need to remember their sacrifice in leading the country in very difficult times immediately after 9/11.
Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they're bad people. They are dedicated patriots, no matter what you say.
We should all appreciate and applaud their sacrifice for us.
God Bless Laura Bush and Lynn Cheney, and their beautiful families, too. They have all sacrificed for your benefit, and God wants you to love them.

Since when has it been news that the Northeast Dems are acting in bed with the Autry? Please...the Northeast Dems are the tool kit for the Villaraigosa-Nunez crowd that includes DeLeon, Huizar and Reyes. Where do you think these guys get their PAC money from besides the Sierra Club and the unions? At one of the coffees there were "envelopes" passed out for donations to candidates. Did John Gray give money to candidates? Now THAT would be something interesting to know.

"should space become available"
Can someone tell me when, and why "space should become available"?
Where and when is the criteria to determine that "space has become available"?
Does anyone know? Will they tell?

Yes. John Gray (Autry Chief), Jackie Autry (Gene's widow), and Bill Delvac (Latham attornrey for Autry) have recently given campaign contributions to people who will be making decisions on the Autry expansion at City Hall.
