Day after Halloween, and one Richard Alatorre has removed the facade of "CONCERNED CITIZEN" to register as a lobbyist with the City Ethics Commission.Alatorre has been seen everywhere shilling on the behalf of a diverse group of friends, err, clients. In El Sereno, it is a certain "CHARTER MADRASA". Alatorre also does Unions. Out of town, Alatorre and friend Victor Griego shill for the City of Vernon on a propose Power Plant.
Yet, when he file his paper work with the city, he listed only a corporation working to build affordable housing. Just maybe "Friends of Antonio" are held to a lower standard ??
Alatorre is a institution in Latino Politics. Yet he has become the symbol of a "OLD BOYS MACHINE" that has reinvented itself under the new generation of latino leaders such as Antonio Villaraigosa, Fabian Nunez, and others.

Who is Victor Griego?
Alatorre is an institution in Latino politics just like the PRI is an institution in Mexican politics.
The PRI, even within it's title - The Institutionalized Revolutionary Party - is an oxymoron. How can a revolution be institutionalized? The PRI is responsible for all that is wrong in Mexico, including the brain drain due to immigration.
Alatorre registering as a lobbyist is also an oxymoron. Richard had so many crooked back room deals with so many people that his influence will be felt for years. Alatorre is responsible for the disgusting state of Latino politics in L.A.

Despite Parke Skelton's attempts to distance Antonio from Alatorre - and rightly so - the two are earily similar:
Alatorre has long had a drug problem: Antonio used to deal drugs and is probably one of Alatorre's snorting buddies.
Alatorre screwed his best friends wife : Antonio screwed his best friend's wife while he was at the office raising money for him.
Alatorre lost his daughter due to his lack of discipline : Antonio's goddaughter ran away from home after he broke up that happy marriage.
Alatorre totally mismanaged MTA as chair, opening the door for multi-million dollar contracts to his buddies: Antonio steered contracts for his contributors and buddies as chair of MTA.
Alatorre surrounded himself with the slimiest characters: Antonio wraps Alatorre around him.
Parke, this is your worst nightmare. Don't you think the feds are on this case? It's just a matter of time.

Alatorre is clearly trying to diffuse the controversy by registering an innocuous client.
He still has a bunch that he hasn't registered yet.
If he makes calls on their behalf, he'll have to register them, so everyone should just look out for him in any deal and report it here.
As a registered lobbyist he can no longer give donations to city elections.
Shady is a shady does.
Griego was Alatorre's hand-picked candidate to succeed him at City Council. They brought him in (carpetbagged) from South Pasadena and got him a lot of money and a lot of endorsements. Griego then lost to Nick Pacheco and went back to So. Pas., to his political consulting business. Now, when Alatorre gets a client, it would appear that Griego also often gets a "gig" out of it as well.

Victor Griego was also Alatorre's cheif of staff.
Alatorre's brain is fried by decades of cocaine use and Victor is just a dumb shit who begs and cheats his way into contracts. Griego's won lost record as a politcal consultant - less than 5% succes rate.
Judy Chu hired him for two lost elections, until she finally gave up and hired Skelton.
Antonio bypassed Griego for Skelton - too bad, if Antonio chose Griego we wouldn't be having these problems.

doesn't anyone find it odd that someone who pleads guilty to accepting payoffs while a member of the city council is then allowed to register as a lobbyist? Shouldn't his guilty plea ban him for life from this type of activity?
As a convicted felon, Alatorre doesn't even have the right to vote anymore. Yet he can easily lobby corruptable politicians like Antonio and Huizar.
I wonder if Alatorre is getting a cut from his sister's salary who works for Antonio. What is her job anyway?

Altaorre is a crook. Why didn't the LA Slimes dig deeper and see his ties with Estrada Courts and Housing Authority corruption?? It was reported Alatorre has spoken to hundreds of developers and wasn't registered as a lobbyist. Victor Griego has close ties to Huizar and is working the demolotion of Wyvenwood Apts. acting like a pr consultant. Dumb ass Latino politicans are so damn corrupt and only in LA can they get indicted or arrested and still work in city hall. Mike Hernandez is a perfect example. He was caught on tape using coke and soliciting hookers during lunch but he has a job in city hall.

The reason LAzy Times didn't go deeper on the Alatorre story is because the whole thing is kinda a "controlled burn".
Everyone knows it's soooooo much deeper than simple lobby registration issues...
And with more and more questions being aksed (like here on this blog)...
The Times puts out the limited piece on Alatorre about simple lobby registration...
But here's a reason why the Times not only didn't dig deeper, but put out a "controlled burn" piece:

LA Times Editorial Page Editor, Jim Newton, wrote the smoothcy article about (CRA/LAANE) Janis. ZD’s Batcomputer says they have been close and friendly with each other (along with Antonio’s Chief of Staff and fomer Alatorre-mentored, Robin Kramer).
So the Batcomputer says Jim Newton may be a reason why the 3rd Floor of City Hall gets to control the City's major newspaper.
So if you believe the LAzy Times won't go against the City Hall grain (and they are friendly with each other), then why put out the piece at all?
