Eastside Insider Lou Moret faces lawsuit in South Gate for "Robles Era Dealings"
In CD 14 political folklore, the 1984 attempted recall of then Councilman Art Snyder stands out as one of the formative political events which help heralded the entry of Latinos into modern day City of Los Angeles politics.
One can remember Steve Rodriguez, once the host of President Jimmy Carter for a overnight visit in his Hillside Village home, who parley that visit into political capital, thus initiating the recall of Snyder. But who was the late minute entry into the race to unseat Snyder that year? That person, Lou Moret, is in the news today for his dealings with convicted South Gate politician Albert Robles.
The City of South Gate since recalling the associates of the Robles Machine, have been working non-stop using the legal system to go after after the recipients of the political payola dished out by Robles and their cronies.
During the Federal Corruption Trial of Albert Robles it was disclosed that Robles and Lou Moret had a relationship that dated back to the heady days of Robles entry into politics.
Moret, former Chief of Staff to Assemblyman Richard Alatorre and well known for his work inside the boxing ring as a referee of numerous Championship Prize Fights, offer advise to the young ambitious Robles which grew into a "mentorship" over time...and a $12,000 a month consulting contract.
That relationship led to advising Robles on the issuance of contracts and hiring at South Gate City Hall. Those dealings have led South Gate officials to file a lawsuit against Moret for his role in issuing the "KlistoffTrash Contract" that was a key part of the successful prosecution by federal prosecutors of Albert Robles.
Moret, who holds a Doctorate in Public Administration was just appointed to a seat on the CalPERS Board of Directors by outgoing Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez. The board oversees investments of public employees retirement funds.

I've heard about that Art Snyder recall, which was before my time. I've heard that it was only a trumped up excuse, so the Latinos could take that seat. We've seen what's happened since -- every latino seat adds to the ethno-centric pandering, to their unashamed unity as a "latino Machine" to steamroll over the "gringos," and now Special Ed Reyes with Alarcon's Marxist help, is directly setting his sights on moving the barrios to the westside, hills dales and valleys.
If Moret was part of this, I hope he goes down. Better late than never, karma gets you eventually.

Snyder did more good than bad, had a drinking problem and was dumped by the The Mexican Mafia, goverment branch.
Alatorre and the other fat guy on the Council had heroin problems.
They should all go down.

Big hole in the Times story this morning. Wasn't Monique Moret cooperating with govt in the Fleishman Hillard case while her father was being investigated by the FBI in the Robles case?? She gets immunity and the Robles prosecutor is quoted as saying that Lou Moret "probably" was involved in the conspiracy but he's never charged. What's going on on?

Is there anyone in Los Angeles scuzzier than Richard Alatorre?
Isn't Alatorre a felon? Can someone please confirm this?
It's worse than Villaraigosa, who's a scumbag, but not a felon!

Moret has been taken care of by Alatorre for a long time, well taken care of, along with David Lizarraga and TELACU.....

All these reports of corruption surface the same shameful names over and over: Nunez, Alatorre, Reyes, why are people so stupid as to keep re-electing all these self-serving crooks? Unfortunately the Latino politicians we have are no better than their corrupt counterparts south of the border.

Lizarraga and TELACU are huge democrat suppoprters so just forget that!

TELACU also supported Republicans and it was a Republican administration that got them off in 1982 when they were on trial for misappropiation of public funds - it is rumored that Ed Meese got the payoff. So Moret, Alatorre and TELACU's corruption is not only a Democratic Party stain but also a Republican - corruption runs rampant in both parties.
As for the 1984 recall on Snyder - it would have succeeded and Rodriguez probably would have won if not for Moret's entry. Moret split the Latino vote and guess what, Alatorre gets the seat in 1986. Alatorre needed to support his $5k a day cocaine habit and his Assembly job wasn't cutting it. Moret sold out the Latino community - at Snyder's and Alatorre's bidding.
Rodriguez should have won that race and Alatorre would have been nothing more than a Willie Brown after thought in the history books instead of the most influential insider in Villaraigosa's regime.
Al Robles knew which corrupt pond to fish in when he sought out Moret and Moret saw another Alatorre when he decided to help.
Alatorre and his cohorts have brought nothing but shame to the Latino community and what makes their path to power more sinister is that they always used the "Latino Empowerment" mantra to further their personal agendas - just like Villaraigosa. The good thing is that there are other Chicano historians out there besides vendido Fernando Guerra from LMU to bring out the truth - and the truth always surfaces. Just ask Corina.

1:38: Only problems with your little theory are that your would=have-been hero Rodriguez turned out to be a cokehead, too. No better than Alatorre, just a matter of luck and alignments. You're crazy to lump Art Snyder in with Alatorre, who took HIS seat -- Snyder was dumped as a Jew by a nascent Machine that ONLY wanted a Latino in the seat.
Like they do to this day, but far more efficiently and ruthlessly; like they'd wanted Takofsky out for years on School Board because he wasn't Latino; it's all racist.
Blaming Snyder for his own expulsion based on being the wrong race and color, despite doing a good job (allegedly he drank, but wasn't a junkie like the Latinos) is ignorant.

There is no comparison between TELACU party connections. TELACU was a nothing business in the 80's it became a behemoth in the 90's.

Snyder and Alatorre were co-hosts to some very wild parties up in those Monterey Hills condos. Both Snyder and Alatorre were good to the local gentry and they hired their maids from nearby El Sereno - and boy did they have some stories to tell. One of them quit because she couldn't get used to the idea of picking up someone else's used condoms.
After Alatorre took over Snyder's seat, he was very well taken care of - Snyder was the top paid lobbyist at City Hall for the following decade. And yes, Snyder did take care of his business - that is his district - in a manner that Alatorre could never approach.
Don't be so naive. Scratch the surface a little - one's character is easily read and a look into Alatorre and Snyder's court records speak volumes on their integrity. The Moret deal to split the Latino vote is testament of such chicanery. Not to be confused with Chicano who are the only people getiing screwed here by the politico's backroom deals. don't kid yourself, Snyder is a full fledged member of these "politicos" - even to this day.

Another corrupt person is Alarcon's cousin John de la Rosa who was forced to resign from the city back in 2002 and is now working behind the chamber seats to continue on with the nepotism and downright stealing of city labor for personal benefit. I bet that truck driving school and training center being developed up at Lopez Canyon (former landfill)is affiliated in some way to both Alarcon and his cousin John. these people do not work for the people. They are self service and thieves. This stuff is not only in the east side but in CD7 district and it's disgusting. Someone should investigate how this training center developed so quickly when other programs take so long to get off the ground.

Hey, I'm watching the fights here in las vegas(gil meret is refering the fight) and I told my wife that I remember the pots and pans selling morets' from ELA. I know all of these guys and they behave no different than their gringo counter-parts. Things don't cahnge in political scenarios whether here in las vegas or in ELA, CA.
Why not go after the big fish in the WHITE HOUSE?
