Is Controversial Educator Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson seeking the help of Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez in overturning Charter Revocation in Sacramento?

Is the controversial co-founder of the Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson, seeking the help of new 51st Assembly District (by the way of Riverside) Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, in overturning the Charter Revocation of LAUSD?

In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we have learned that the controversial co-founder of the Lucrative 1% Charter Education Collective, Academia Semillas del Pueblo, Mark(os) Aguilar-Ferguson, is seeking the help of 51st Assembly District Newby Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, in supporting State Board of Education Action, to overturn the LAUSD Charter Revocation of the Semillas High School Campus.

Mark(os)-Ferguson tweeted the above photo of Assemblyman Gomez (at the far left of front row) at a community meeting yesterday within the LA-32 Neighborhood Council area. Assemblyman Gomez has been making himself notice at a large number of community events (which prompted one constituent to call him "Councilman Gomez", but I digress), but surely, the First Term Lawmaker (via Riverside) is not well-verse in the controversial and troubling history of the El Sereno Charter School.

The appearance of Aguilar-Ferguson at the Assemblyman Gomez event, can be seen as a last act of desperation in having the State Board of Education overrule the decisions of LAUSD and LACOE, which Assemblyman Gomez must support, if the Semillas High School Campus stands any chance of a Sacramento intervention.

But for Assemblyman Gomez, he should be wary of planting the seed of a Sacramento intervention on behalf of Aguilar-Ferguson's discredited Educational Collective, for the negative backlash (especially in the El Sereno Community), that surely would sprout, may prompt some to send Gomez back east on the 60 Freeway.

Evening Briefs for Election Eve 2012

Support Stephen Smith for Congress in the 31st District. 

It was nice to know that my current Congressman Hector Becerra thought to send out a campaign mailer as he goes through the motion of campaigning for reelection in a largely democratic district. That said, my absentee ballot will show that Republican Challenger Stephen Smith has my support via vote to replace Becerra in Congress. Voters in the 31st District face a looming double whammy of increase taxes thanks to the efforts of their current congressman. Most don't give Smith a chance to win, but vote by vote, we can affect change and elect someone who will put fiscal responsibility before irresponsible tax and spend policies that have this country facing a fiscal day of reckoning.

State AssemblymanRoger Hernandez (D-West Covina) was sued Monday by a woman alleging that he physically abused her during a months-long relationship and that he used illegal drugs.The civil suit was filed on behalf of Carolina Taillon by attorney Gloria Allred and seeks unspecified damages against Hernandez over allegations of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.The lawsuit was filed the day before Hernandez stands for reelection in a contest with Republican Joe Gardner, a retired police officer. The assemblyman's attorney, Joe Weimortz Jr., said the allegations were timed to hurt the incumbent politically."Assemblyman Hernandez adamantly denies these allegations,'' Weimortz said. He characterized the allegations as a calculated effort to "tarnish the assemblyman's reputation on the eve of an election.''Allred said Taillon and the lawsuit have nothing to do with the Gardner campaign. "She is not affiliated with him and is not a supporter of his,'' she said.

** The California Fair Political Practice Commission has found the dastardly groups responsible for spending $11 Million dollars to defeat Prop 30 and support Prop 32. The actions of the FPPC and the California Supreme Court reek of a Left Wing witch hunt against conservative groups. 

** One prediction we can make on tomorrow's election, is that a certain campaign consultant/campaign manager, who is known for his blogging and driving exploits, will continue his losing streak of elections as the Zorro Marxist known as CD 2/7 City Councilman Richard AlarCON, goes down to defeat in the 39th Assembly District.

The San Gabriel Valley showdown pitting two successful Asian-American professionals, a doctor and a lawyer, against one another is getting cutthroat in the dwindling hours to election day--with accusations of tax evasion, lawsuits and a restraining order to boot.Joy Lin, wife of candidate Dr. Matthew Lin, filed suit on Friday, October 26 claiming that the campaign of Ed Chau unlawfully distributed her social security number in filers and advertisements on television and YouTube.She is seeking $25,000 in damages.Chau's campaign did not remove the video, so on Wednesday, Lin filed a temporary restraining order as well.Lin's social security number is visible on images of a tax lien, issued in 1997 and featured in the image. (The Pasadena Star-News reports that of the three tax liens shown in the video, two were issued erroneously and the third was settled in 2008.)Superior Court Judge Edward Simpson ordered Chau to remove the YouTube video and pull a television advertisement featuring the flier.But, as you can see below, the offending video is still up on YouTube:

 A South Bay Assembly race is among the most expensive in the state, attracting millions of dollars in donations and expenditures, finance records show.One of as few as four districts statewide that could go to either party on Tuesday, the 66th District race between Republican Craig Huey and Democrat Al Muratsuchi could decide whether or not Democrats gain a supermajority in the chamber.It's a rematch of the June primary, when Muratsuchi won 40.9 percent of the vote, beating Huey by about 2 percentage points. Republican Nathan Mintz won 20.6 percent, but only the top two finishers were eligible for Tuesday's general election.Democrats have a four-point registration edge in the district, and most political analysts say it is a true tossup.

Along with a win in the 43rd AD, Republicans can create a red interface in Los Angeles County.

** Blogger's Note: With no apologies to noted Jimmy Gomez shill and recent losing LA-32 Neighborhood Council Candidate Ari Ruiz, the definitive Halloween Political Makeover Award goes to a "certain carpetbagging educator". A couple of weeks back, an irate Northeast LA Voter forward us the above picture of a Jimmy "The Educator" Gomez mailer, that was among many sent to their residence. The person who's employment was within the public education field, took offense at Gomez's attempt to mislead voters by labeling himself on the ballot, as an "Educator". The reality is that Gomez taught a Labor-theme class at LA Trade Tech as noted below,

Even though he is being paid very little, this is what allows him to list “Educator/Nurses Advocate” as his ballot designation.
His campaign bio says that he is “an adjunct faculty member.”
Jimmy is a mentor with the Puente Mentorship Program and an adjunct faculty member of the Los Angeles Community College.

Note though that Gomez’s SEI lists only himself as receiving a salary from the Los Angeles Community College District; if his wife received at least $500 during the reporting period (and after their April 2011 wedding), then her income should also have been reported.
Neither Gomez nor Hodge appear on the ratemyprofessors.com website.  

We can only speculate on some of Educator Gomez's course titles, maybe they included "101 Ways of Carpetbagging", "The Science of PAC Money :Laundry", "The Political Makeover of a Riverside PACman", "The Use of GPS in establishing Political Residency", "The Exploitation of Burrocrats", "There is No Such Thing as Dirty Political Money" and "101 Mailers to Cover Up My Carpetbagging Truth". But most important in vetting the background of supposed "Educator Jimmy", is asking a simple question. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A EDUCATOR? In the latest indication he will take money from any source, no matter how despicable, Assembly candidate Jimmy Gomez took funds for his campaign 

from a politician under an emergency protective order for battering a woman this summer and this weekend.

Gomez now faces calls from leaders against sexual and domestic violence in the district he recently moved into to run for office, to give the money to a charity serving local survivors.

"I am utterly appalled to learn that Assembly candidate Jimmy Gomez took a four-figure contribution from a politician, Assemblymember Roger Hernandez, who beat his girlfriend and is under a restraining order," said Alva Moreno, former Board President of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault and a longtime leader in victims' assistance and stopping sexual and domestic violence in the communities of the 51st District. 

"I am tired of the general ignorance, hostility, and indifference of politicians to the facts of sexual and domestic violence and its consequences on the health and lives of women.

"If Jimmy Gomez has a shred of decency, he would donate all the money he took from Roger Hernandez to a charity here in his new district working to help people overcome the trauma of domestic abuse. It is the least he owes to the hundreds of survivors of sexual and domestic violence in the communities of Northeast Los Angeles and East L.A."

Mid Day 2012 Election Briefs for Monday

Will 50th AD Candidate and current Assemblywoman Besty Butler's "non-vote" that help kill State Senator Alex Padilla's SB 1530 (the bill to speed up termination process for teachers convicted of sex crimes), hurt her chances for reelection?   

The above video expose by CNN's Anderson Cooper is not likely to help Assemblywoman Butler as election day approaches and during last week's Santa Monica Daily Press "Squirm Night" festivities, challenger Richard Bloom asked her again to state her opinion on SB 1530 (link to see video). As the 50th AD contest enters its last week, Butler has spend $1.5 Million dollars on her campaign, but a non-vote in Sacramento may trump those expenditures.

"Little Mikey" cannot even play fair in a simple debate, judging by the numerous cheat sheets he recited from during the hour-long forum.

CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar involved in Traffic Accident.

We like to give props to the Princeton Graduate City Councilman for this teachable moment in safe, defensive driving, while behind the wheel of a city-owned vehicle. 

City Councilman Jose Huizar's city-owned custom $53,000 Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

In the interest of objectivity, we excerpt the latest LA Times posting on CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar's accident last night in Boyle Heights.

Three cars were involved in a minor traffic accident that City Councilman Jose Huizar was in before he was given a DUI sobriety test that he passed, a spokesman said."I can confirm that three cars were involved and the Councilmember was given a breathalyzer test, which registered a zero," Huizar spokesman Rick Coca said in a statement Thursday night after the accident.The accident was reported about 7 p.m. on East 1st Street near the 101 Freeway in Boyle Heights, the Los Angeles Police Department said. One person at the scene complained of injuries and was examined by paramedics but not taken to a hospital, police said.Police described Huizar as cooperative as he was being tested. He was released afterward.At the scene, Huizar's Toyota Highlander was parked behind a General Motors Saturn, which had major damage on the trunk. The accident was being investigated by Central Traffic Division detectives.Huizar, 44, was elected to the City Council in 2005 with the support of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. He lives in Boyle Heights. His 14th District stretches from downtown to Eagle Rock.

The remaining question here is whether the Princeton Graduate was driving unsafely at the time of the accident.
