The Mini Mayor has chosen a superintendent for his mini school district. Once again he turns to San Diego to find a bureaucrat, this one, Angela Bass, an administrator in the San Diego schools has long personal ties to the superintendent of the big school district, Admiral David Brewer.

NBC Universal has big plans for their property - which means they need the support of politicians and the community. So why are they not playing ball and supporting the LA River Bikeway? They don't have to, but they should.

The LA County Republicans once again prove they're expert at eating their own. And continue to further relegate themselves to a permanent minority status.

Some geniuses in City Hall thought it might be a good idea to implement toll roads going into LAX. However, other bureaucrats and even a few Clowncilmen find it to be a really dumb idea.

Boyd Screws Another Republican

We've talked before about how ineffective and useless the County Republican Party is, particularly under the leadership of Doug and Linda Boyd. They raise money from Republicans but in my view don't do anything worthwhile to get Republicans elected to office. When a Republican ran for Mayor - Walter Moore - they supported Democrat Jim Hahn. Of course they got some nice chump change from good old ex-Mayor Poopy.

Now that the Republican Party has a real chance to beat Rick Caruso's favorite you know what Maxine Waters, the Boyds and the LA County Dumbass Republicans can't manage to make it happen.

Homeless activist Ted Hayes, an African American, nationally known figure wants to seek the Republican nomination for Congress against Waters. Hayes is no usual dinosaur Republican - he's an effective, articulate, dreadlocked wearing, roller blading dude with real street cred. Hayes is probably the one person - Republican or otherwise - who could beat Waters.

In years past, the Republican Party Leadership in the County and State as well as the Republican National Committee had paid the filing fees for Republican Candidates in races where only one Republican candidate is running to avoid the embarrassment of not even fielding a candidate against a Democrat incumbent.

Because Ted Hayes is the only Republican who pulled papers to run in District 35, a request was made for his $1,600.00 filing fee to be paid by the Republican Party.

After submitting requests for help at the County level, State level and National level, Mr. Hayes contacted Los Angeles County Republican Party Chairman Linda Boyd and asked for help.

“We support you Ted, but there will be no help with the filing fee” was the response.

Typical Linda Boyd bullshit.

I keep saying it - the Boyds have to go. When are you dumbass Republicans at the county party going to get a clue?

Is Eric Garcetti on Barack Obama's short list for Vice Presidential candidates? Not likely but he joined City Controller Laura Chick at a rally to support the popular Presidential candidate.

The LA Downtown News has come out with their "80 in 08" list of people, projects and events that "will power Downtown this year." This blog was honored to be on that list under the category of "five blogs downtowners will visit frequently in 2008."

latinopoliticsblog.com questions the strategic wisdom of the Hillary Clinton campaign having Mayor Villaraigosa tag along in New Hampshire. More importantly - the blog drives home - why isn't the Mayor at home solving problems instead of playing Presidential politics out of state?

So much for "We Report You Decide" at Fox News. Maverick Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul has been bounced from their on-air debates as well as third party candidates. An activist group, rockthedebates.org is pressing to get pledges from the Democratic and Republican candidates to debate Libertarians, Greens and other third party candidates. So far Paul and Mike Huckabee have signed on; Barack Obama, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney are opposed. What are they afraid of?

The one candidate who could take down the incumbent in the 35th Congressional District here in California. Ted Hayes has announced his candidacy for the seat currently held by Maxine Waters.

There's a slew of propositions on the ballot next month that deal with Indian Gaming with some tribes and their money on one side and some on the others and some of them lined up with horse tracks, all in the name of stopping competition. This all points to the fact that Indian Gaming has become a big scam and if we're going to have gambling in California, lets open up casino ownership to anyone.

Like many LA denizens, bloger Los Angelista finds lot of reasons to hate LA - including gangs, traffic and Mayor Villaraigosa - but every reason to love her own neighborhood.

We covered the story of the Disney Company turning NIMBY when someone wanted to build condos near Disneyland. Looks like Disney may have run the developer off with the threat of a ballot measure to shut them down.

Joseph Mailander has what could be the photo of the year, certainly the best photo of a government vehicle since this one, that is an LAPD patrol car reportedly parked in front of Mayor Villaraigosa's Mount Washington home for several days. Amazingly, the members of the spin zone have managed to convince themselves its not a police car, its not there and it never happened. Keep repeating that mantra kids!

Tuesday the Los Angeles City Council voted to have the Los Angeles City Clerk take over running the elections for Neighborhood Councils. Generally in favor of the idea but wanting to delay it a bit was Councilman Bill "Open Shirt" Rosendahl who told reporters "You don't need to make a decision today and shove it down the throats of my neighborhood councils.'' Wow. Really?

The Coliseum Commission meets Wednesday to try and come up with a relatively acceptable plan that will convince USC to stay in the historic stadium and not move to the Rose Bowl. So far the Commission's counter-offers have yet to satisfy USC's concerns as to whether or not needed renovations to the facility will be made.

Thursday is the long anticipated "Day Without A Bag." Proving he's ready to celebrate, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will appear Wednesday on KCRW Radio at 1:00 p.m. to kick off the big day.

David Hernandez reports that Ted Hayes - convicted of trespassing in the Mayor's Office - was refused by the Judge in the case to allow him to serve time in jail. Hernandez is behind a campaign to draft the longtime homeless activist Hayes to run against controversial Congresswoman Maxine Waters for her 35th District seat.

The Downtown News agrees that Angelenos should be allowed to hail cabs just like in New York, San Francisco, Chicago or any other real city in America. And it needs to be done to provide the cabbies market incentive to pick up short hop fares by removing the stupid fare zones where folks can currently grab a taxi.

Some are accusing Carson City Clowncilman turned Assembly candidate Mike Gipson of trying to bribe voters with a chance to win free gift cards at Target if they presented a ballot stub to his campaign office (thank God it wasn't Home Depot) but Gipson claims it was just an effort to turn out the vote. State officials say the move is legal; though probably skirts the spirit of the law. Didn't matter, Gipson lost the special election for the Democratic nomination to LA Community College Trustee Warren Furutani (get ready - open College board seat - line up candidates!)

Is this any surprise? Her older sister drives around with her infant child on her lap; now 16 year old actress Jamie Lynn Spears will disclose to Ok! Magazine that she is 12 weeks pregnant.
