Mayor Sam Is Now Part of Home Depot
We've been blogging here at The Sister City for nearly four years and are grateful for our success. Thanks to your support and the hard work of many bloggers, we've built a community, really, a family. We're building a dream and want to do so much more.
So we've taken the best in blogging and joined forces with the best in hardware - to create a powerful alliance that will give us the resources to do so much more and never say never.
As of today, Mayor Sam's Sister City has been acquired by Home Depot.
You won't notice a whole lot of changes at first but as time goes on expect us to just get a whole lot better.
We're building a dream...Mayor Sam and Home Depot.

It's a team effort - thanks go to Joe Barrett for the idea and his crack up of an article and of course to Antonio Watch for the re-design. I'm even blown away by how he changed the links color to Home Depot orange.

One time I was at the Home Depot in Panorama City, the one at The Plant.
I was over in the electrical aisle and I heard this big crash.
I walked around the corner and I could see on the other end of the store all this lumber had come crashing down.
I asked the manager what happened.
He told me Jack Hoff farted.
Another time I was at the Home Depot in Glendale and they told me it was closing.
Jack Hoff had farted in the propane section.
I was at the Home Depot in Santa Clarita and they told they stopped selling manure.
Jack Hoff made a deal with them to sell them his "fart in a bag" composting kits.
Flowers are blooming big in Valencia!
Speaking of Wal-Mart, Jim Algor told me why they closed down the one in Northridge.
Jack Hoff was getting a prescription for his farts.
But before he could take a pill he farted.
That was the end of that.
When it comes to Las Lomas, Richard Alarcon tells me why the project was cancelled.
Jack Hoff was on his way to Magic Mountain, he farted, and blew off half the mountain.
After that the county saw how unstable the hills were.
Do you know why Henry Waxman put an end to the Red Line through Fairfax?
Because there was a methane explosion that caused a Ross Dress for Less to catch fire and blow up.

They are based out of Georgia. And they make a lot of money off hurricanes.
There are a lot of hurricanes in places like Florida, Alabama, Mississippi; all up and down the Gulf Coast.

The Home Depot in Simi Valley is doing well.

Memo to the "NIMBY LACKEY",
You should be clapping your hands in unison, celebrating this merger. Home Depot does care about the communities that they grace. Where else do you find an example of Corporate America reaching out to provide opportunities to our hard working immigrant community. These immigrants are demonize on a daily basis by extreme elements of Xenophobic haters.

Alvin Parra started this rumor about Huizar during the last council race.
If Huizar (who's now pretty much guaranteed 10 more years at $180,000 per, annual salary), is looking to jump ship and take a whopping 35 per cent pay cut to work as one of a mostly faceless crowd of 120 legislators in Sacramento making $116,000 instead, then he's denser than Alvin "DOH" Parra (if that's possible).
There's ambition, and there's pure stupidity.
People go to assembly when they're termed out at the cushy, high-priced job that is L.A. City Council, where they hasically have to support two homes, and less money and sit through 3-times as many boring, mindless meetings.
(Or, when they want to get away from home and cheat on their spouses freely, like Villaraigosa).
Can someone please direct me to the day laborer site, or should I just hang out here on the curb and flag people down on there way in to past comments.

Huizar will go where ever Antonio sends him. Where ever Huizar is going, he is collecting money, just waiting until he or Antonio needs it. If Antonio goes to the Feds, or the State, Huizar will move somewhere; Mayor, DWP, County, etc. CD14 is the highway to political success in LA.
So are you saying Huizar is NOT raising money? I didn't hear it from Alvin, but you know how the area is. One source could easily start this buzz. But my source has been very credible in the past. So I know you think it would be fiscally imprudent to leave his CM seat, but are you also saying he is not raising money?

If Huizar is raising any money, it's either for his officeholder account (if he hasn't reached his $75K cap for the fiscal year) or for his re-election campaign, which he probably won't do for another year or so.
I'd like to know if Huizar is raising money for an office, since he can't accept any checks until he has filed with the state for a Campaign ID number (just like how recently Villaraigosa filed for his re-election campaign).
If you get a campaign name and ID number, please post it up. Wondering minds would like to know...
He better be raising money cause word on the northeast side is constituents are talking RECALL. So many people are dissatisfied with Huizar and his corrupt ways with developers and not doing a damn thing in his district they've had it. No one ever sees Huizar at any functions or meetings. His staff are bailing the ship, no one is taking care of the residents, and he's lost over 16 employees in just 2 years.
.......Thus the moniker "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN AS JOSE HUIZAR". BTW, his re-election account is listed as active at Cal-Access.

Are the same people who are crying for a recall the same people who worked with Ted Hayes and his crazies to "attempt" to recall Villaraigosa from City Council??? Oh yeah, how did that recall process go for them??? Hmmmm...
Look, here's the bottom line - unless a formidable opponent comes out from under some rock that has the blessing from either the Mayor, Labor, or the rich downtown money powers-at-be, don't expect anybody to make Huizar even lose 1 minute of sleep in his re-election efforts.
Say whatever you have to say about him and his staff, whether it be true or false. Unless somebody with major name ID and a funding operation that can raise $500,000 (along with a good IE program or 2 to support their efforts), don't expect nothing more than Johnny Jay Jimenez and William Morrison.
I wonder what kind of circus those 2 will bring with them this time around...

....As Villaraigosa attempts to highlight enhancements aimed at curtailing illegal activity, soup kitchen volunteers seize the moment to decry the treatment of the area's homeless. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is accustomed to being the center of attention when he holds news conferences. This morning, he got upstaged...he stepped to a portable lectern at the corner of Sixth Street and Gladys Avenue, about five impromptu protesters appeared from a soup kitchen across the street, taking up position directly behind him and drowning out his press conference with chants of "Shame on you" and "Housing, not jails."
Not easily intimidated, Villaraigosa soldiered on -- delivering his prepared remarks even though reporters only a few feet away could barely hear him. City Council members Jan Perry and Jose Huizar, who represent downtown, stood at Villaraigosa's side -- looking mildly uncomfortable. ..Oe of the mayor's press aides shook his head glumly.
As the event wound down, the disruption finally appeared to get at Villaraigosa. Briefly acknowledging the protesters, he said: "The folks behind me, almost none of them live on Skid Row."
That video by Home Depot is the most nauseating piece of fluff I have ever seen!
