Morning Briefs on Petitioning for Basic Constituent Services in CD 14

The late CD 14 City Councilman Art Snyder must be rolling in his Grave as constituents are force to craft Petitions for Basic Services from its current City Councilman Jose Huizar.
The Late CD 14 City Councilman Art Snyder was the Role Model for Constituent Services (and you did not need a stinking petition).
** Blogger's Note: Long ago in CD 14 Political Folklore (late 1983, early 1984), a then embattled City Councilman Art Snyder was on KABC Eyewitness Channel 7, debating Recall challengers Steve Rodriguez and Lou Moret. Snyder who was facing a strong Recall challenge (and charges of personal and political nefarious conduct), cited his much-touted reputation for responsive Constituent Services by noting a fluid "In and Out Box Flow" of resolving issues brought to his Office's attention, as a reason for remaining Councilman. Snyder won, only to resign in 1985. Now some thirty years later, the now late Art Snyder would be rolling in his grave in witnessing what has become of Constituent Services in CD 14. This week, the same KABC Channel 7 Eyewitness News reported that Highland Park Senior Citizens were relegated to crafting a Petition to CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar, demanding a resolution to a stalled restroom modification at the community's Senior Citizen Center, which forced the elderly to use unkempt Porta-pottys. Just recently, we were made aware of the supposed comments of CD 14 El Sereno Office Staffer Julio Torres, who stated that a Petition may garner faster attention from Councilman Huizar, regarding the Homeless/Artist Colony on the infamous Elephant Hill. Simply, this reeks of Constituent Discrimination (as documented via "Listgate" in 2011), because we know for sure that the likes of Huizar-loving Hillside Village Property Owners Association would never be force to submit a "Petition" for their desired Valley Blvd "Quiet Zone" ........, right Julio? But maybe we should submit a formal California Public Records Act Request (CPRA) to Julio, on what happen to the $5,000 given to the supposed El Sereno Chamber of Commerce? Just a thought---Scott Johnson.
Homeless/Artist Colony on El Sereno's Elephant Hill.
Does Julio Torres practices what he recommends, especially for those who are documented CD 14 Councilman Jose Huizar Supporters?
When did it become a CD 14 Constituent Services Policy that you must start a Petition for Basic Actions?

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

Members of Team Villar are farmed out to save the third term incarnation of the Mayor Villar Political Machine, Mayoral Candidate Wendy "The Villar Greuel"
The Villar Greuel's "Left and Rights Turns" have discombobulated her campaign message.
Will Janell Erickson be able to right the floundering, pandering campaign vessel of the Villar Greuel?
Former Mayor Villar's Chief of Staff Jeff Carr "favorite duo" of Janelle Erickson and Matt Szabo.

Hola and great Cesar Chavez Day to all as Spring Break begins for hundred of thousands of LAUSD charges, with shuttered city facilities, in honor of the great anti Illegal Alien Activist.
Numerous discerning political observers (Parke, the Calitics Blog)  are openly questioning the rationality of these latest campaign team changes and skeptical of the Election Day outcome for the “Villar Greuel Campaign“.
** The tabulation of outstanding Provisional and Absentee Ballots from the March 7 Elections, will take place tomorrow at the City Clerk’s Piper Tech Office. The final tally could determine whether CD 1 City Council Candidate Gil Cedillo wins outright and avoids a runoff with current City Council Ed Reyes Chief of Staff Jose “Mini Density” Gardea. The final results could also push CD 7 City Council Candidate Felipe “Mini Padilla” Fuentes into a May runoff with Nicole Clark.
** While “Mini Padilla” Fuentes awaits his quest to become the next CD 7 City Councilman (then in short order, “City Council President Mini Padilla II”), he is not lacking for income as new Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, has found ample public duties for the former assemblyman, to justify a $8,500 a month pay check (pardon the “bullsh.. cough“).
** A great turnout took place for the Eagle Rock dedication of the Art Snyder Community Room. County Supervisor Mike Antonivich, City Councilwoman Jan Perry, Former City Councilmans Richard Alatorre and Mike Hernandez were in attendance. But notably absence was current CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar.
Lastly, we bring you this episode of State Parole Agent minus brain cells, who brings his new “AK 47 toy” to assigned CD 9 job site, which contains hundred of violent parolees. From the Pacovilla Corrections Blog.

los angeles sleuth says:March 25, 2013 at 02:23Information received by more than 20 individuals, parole agents and parole supervisors from several different assigned locations. PA 3 did take his new purchased toy ( assault weapon ) unclear if weapon was loaded or not to the previously referred to South Central Parole Complex. He was observed showing off his new toy to fellow co-workers by a parole administrator who then called Region 3 Headquarters and reported the incident. Many are saying that this PA 3 received an LOI less than 3 months after the initial date of the incident. Many unanswered questions. DOM written policies were violated. Unanswered questions. Did anyone notify CHP, after all the location of the incident was in a State Office ? This PA 3 placed the lives and welfare of his co-workers , clerical staff and others in harms way. He should have been re-assigned until a formal and complete investigation was completed. Formal letters to be sent out next week to many to and include state elected officials, State AG’s office , news media, LA. DA office, and others informing them of this latest incident and cover up by the Queen of parole MF and others. I have been told of yet another attempted cover up by parole administrators in Region 4 where a Parole Supervisor lost his cool and some type of altercation took place with a parole agent. I have been told that this incident took place in the Pomona-Ontario Parole Complex. Both parties involved has been transferred to other parole locations. I was also told this is why the current head of Region 4 made the decision to retire now than later. ( soon to retire.)
Lastly, we will have later posts on the growing list of "Waste, Frauds, and Abusers for the Villar Greuel".

Outtakes from CD 14: "The Great White Ghost of CD 14 Speaks"

The "Great White Ghost" of CD 14 politics has spoken.
He was the enabler who gave special meaning to the "ins and outs" of constituent services, in a time when "cut and pasting" involved exacta knives, rulers, cardboard, and rubber cement.
His driving exploits, would of loaded the barrels of Top Gun DUI Attorney Miles L. Berman with gainful employment during those days of driving, weaving and dealing through the barrios and exclusive domains within CD 14.
Investigators, whether local, state, or feds, never fear of running out of shady dealings to investigate during his reign. Red Devil Fireworks, TELACU, and Enterprise Zones, brought an constant source of monetary deals that benefited the district, but invited investigated scrutiny, that in the end was the cause of one, Councilman Arthur K. Snyder's political demise.
Arthur K. Snyder in recent years has kept close to political controversy. His role in outing Steve Lampson as the President of the Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce and his cooperation with Lincoln Heights Real Estate Broker Steve Kasten, was an flashback to the ways things where done.......and still are under the "Reign of Huizar".
But unlike Huizar, who goes through staffers like Snyder went through "fifths and city own cars", Snyder valued his rapid "ins and outs" when responding to constituent concerns.
One of those responsible for that prompt response was the late Boyle Heights resident Ross Valencia, or simply, "Mr. Boyle Heights".
Valencia, was an civic institution in Boyle Heights for decades, his work on behalf of the Boyle Heights Community, prompted civic leaders to rededicate the former Lani Park on First and Chicago, as the Ross Valencia Community Park yesterday.
Valencia's former boss Councilman Arthur K. Snyder, made this rare public statement in the comment section of the Eastern Group Publication story on the dedication of Ross Valencia Community Park.
Ross was a good man. He served the community because he loved it, and he felt called to help it. That is why I hired him to represent me in Boyle Heights and to assist me in the creation and completion of the projects that raised the quality of life for its people and brought the community back into the mainstream of Los Angeles life. He spent the hours, days, years that are the currency of a life for the community that he and I loved. May the people not soon forget him, and may that memory continue to lift the community as did his life.
Art Snyder Member of the City Council, 14rh District, Retired
Indeed, Ross Valencia served his community with distinction and honor and is befitting of the honors accorded him.
And in closing, it would be wise for our current crop of political staffers in CD 14 to emulate Valencia in their role as public servants and remember the "ins and outs" of constituent services.

Outtakes from CD-14, The "Cut and Paste" Capital of Los Angeles.

Hola and TGIF, from the "Cut and Paste" Capital of Los Angeles, where 2011 cannot come soon enough.

We start today's outtakes with an salient commentary from the political wit that is "Parque Esqueleto", this in light of Councilman Jose Huizar's latest challenge with ethics and supposed outburst during a National Night Out Event at Hollenbeck Police Station.

** NOW now, children, to be fair, no one is really allowed to fill the "Arthur Snyder (pre)Memorial Council Seat" - aka, CM for CD14 - unless they are currently under investigation, have been within 3 months of running, or are expected to be by the time they pass their first 100 days. It's a RULE, and it's how you make your bones, and prove you're "good" people. It's also your buy-in to being an "OC" ("old councilman") once you leave. One old guy actually has his ethics' case numbers tattooed on the inside of his eyelids, so he can smirk about beating them any time he likes.

(Name the last CM here that wasn't "under" investigation more often than not, and I'll show you a G-D CARPETBAGGER).

Not only do we expect (and respect) it here, we get VERY suspicious if someone in that position goes more than a year without someone laying legal paper on them.

Don't get me wrong, we know they're STILL doing something thats "technically" illegal, it just worries us if they're too smart -- for too long -- to get caught.

It's the councilmember's who don't get investigated that you REALLY have to worry about.

(There's even a little-known standing rule that the swearing-in ceremony when they first take office in CD14 doubles for the one during depositions. It saves TONS of time have them "stay" sworn in for the full 4 years).

No worries, Jose, they can't PROVE a damn thing! And, if they can, we'll make sure none of your failthful actually believe it.

Now the News:

** One of CD-14's oldest piece of "political bounty" for the connected, has been a Commission Appointment to El Pueblo De Los Angeles.

For years, many have been appointed to oversee operations at the Cultural Landmark but yet controversy and dubious accounting have been a mainstay.

Now the Eastern Group Publications becomes the P.R. medium for Councilman Jose Huizar's efforts to bring financial sustainability to L.A. oldest cultural landmark.

** Many CD-14 "cut and paste" veterans surely remember ex. City Councilman Nick Pacheco's former campaign duo of Robert Urteaga and John Edwards. Now, Montebello Councilman Robert Urteaga and his consulting sidekick are embroil in a controversy over the hiring of the Montebello Police Chief, promises of endorsements, and add allegations of racism. And one wonders why Urteaga faces a Recall.

** Former "Ass Clown Award Winner", Eliot Sekuler is one conflicted insider who right now couldn't "spin" his emotions. His loyalties are no doubt connected to the insiders who will advance his and employer Universal Entertainment's agenda. But one still has to walk through the neighborhood and withstand the "virtual vendido label" associated with his support for the Autry National Center agenda.

Now Sekuler is having seconds thoughts about being the "Minister of Spin" for the Autry and the "Southwest Society of Connected Vendidos y Venditas" This in the wake of the stonewall stance of the Autry over discussing the future of the Southwest Museum.

** EGP Headline: "City and County May Consolidate Redevelopment Projects for BioMed Tech Sector". Guess who is front, center, behind close doors, and shilling day and night for this merger ?? Can you say USC lobbyist and former Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council Czar, David Galaviz.

But surprise, surprise who is opposing this merger is none other than the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council under the new, positive and refreshing leadership of Elena Popp.
No word whether Galaviz will attempt to get his childhood friend Councilman Huizar to send General Services Police to silence Popp.

** Your thoughts and remember that there is always a "In Box" and "Out Box" in CD-14, as noted by ex. Councilman Art Snyder, Just what is in the respective boxes will cause speculation and investigations, right Huizar ??
