Former CD 14 CM Art Snyder New Interim Chairman of Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce

The headline says it all, y'all. Steve Lampson, current Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce Chairman of The Board of Directors went on vacation. The Board held a surprise meeting to vote Steve out, and vote Art Snyder in until a new Chairman can be selected. And I'm sure it has nothing to do with Mr. Lampson stumbling upon a second Chamber of Commerce bank account that they need to keep covered up. And I'm sure USC's plans to build workforce housing in the area has nothing to do with it, either.

Are you talking about former CD14 Councilman Art Snyder who pleaded guilty in 1997 to NINE misdemeanor counts of MONEY LAUNDERING AND CONSPIRACY; he served six months in jail and paid a $216,000 fine.

I can't believe that drunk is still around. Didn't something similar happen when Oscar was on the chamber? Lincoln heights is very sneaky with money. they need to be investigated big time.

This is good news:
Google is “hugely dangerous” and is one of the major preoccupations of News Corp, according to the editor-in-chief of Times Online.

Anne Spackman, speaking as part of a panel about the future of newspapers at the Society of Editors conference, said "the number one topic of conversation at News Corp is Google."

“Its move into DNA is a massive threat and I wonder whether we will all start feeling that they are behaving a bit too much like big brother," she said. Talking afterwards to Press Gazette Spackman said: “Google now affects everything we do online

Until recently the Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce had been nothing but a social club for a selected few business folks in the area. It is terrible that someone who wanted to do positive things and bring the organization into the 21st century was voted out.

Wonder if Art Snyder is the puppet master pulling the strings of his best buddy Steve Kasten...

Many would not be surprised by this news if they had any contact with Steve Kasten and some of the older board members from the chamber. Kasten has all of the guise of being a nice community leader, all the while he is a "snake in the grass". There are tons of long-term residents and business owners in Lincoln Heights who would like nothing else than to see someone of Kasten's low calibur gone forever from the community. Just ask anyone on Broadway.

But it is not only Kasten who is the problem. Where have some of these other board members been these last few months? I haven't seen them at luncheons, at the educators night at Sacred Heart or working at the sidewalk sale. Yet they all fall in line and listen to King Kasten. As a group they voted out Steve Lampson because he would not play their game. Lampson is for the community-always has been. As a community member I am disgusted by this report and am ashamed of those responsible for this thing today. They should hang their heads down in shame-these chamber members do not represent my community or any of the businesses in Lincoln Heights.

August 25, 2001
ARTHUR K. SNYDER [#30600], 69, of Los Angeles was suspended for three years, stayed, placed on three years of probation with
a six-month actual suspension and was ordered to take the MPRE within one year and prove his rehabilitation. The order took effect
Aug. 25, 2001.
A former Los Angeles city councilman, Snyder stipulated that he was convicted in 1996 of one count of conspiracy and eight counts
of making campaign contributions in a name other than the actual contributor, all misdemeanors. The convictions were the result of
Snyder’s role in an influence-peddling scheme.
He operated a law firm engaged in high profile political work, including consulting and lobbying. The scheme involved funneling
hundreds of thousands of dollars in small campaign checks from a large network of friends, relatives and associates — the named
contributors — to various political candidates. Money received from certain corporations, who were the real contributors, was used
to pay back the named contributors.
The scheme lasted from 1989 to 1992.
Snyder also was found to have violated several anti-laundering provisions of the Political Reform Act in separate FPPC
proceedings.
He stipulated that his conduct involved moral turpitude.
In mitigation, he has no record of discipline, cooperated with the bar’s investigation and demonstrated rehabilitation.

It is sad that Kasten reaps off of the Lincoln Heights community with nothing to show!

His so-called Chamber is a bunch of old timers that have noting to do and they do nothing, nor are they open to any new ideas for the community........anyone with the mentality that "mixers" are the answer, says alot.

Sidewalk sales are not the answer!
Steve Lampson's ideas and goals were too much for Kasten's narrow, selfish views......what does he really care about Lincoln Hts. except $$$$$?

And, to bring in Snyder in another illegal action on the part of Kasten is a total insult to the Lincoln Hts.

Do what you got to do Steve Lampson!

Art Snyder falls in the company of Mike Hernandez, Richard Alatore, and other corrupt officials with bad habits. Just look at his rapsheet on this blog.

What has Kasten done?

While Kasten was President, the Chamber voted to approve the Las Villas Project on Broadway-the one Alice Corona owns. The same project that is fighting to obtain a liquior license even though this "restaurant" is within less than a 1/4 mile of three elementary and one high school. The same project that has now created a huge eye-sore dirt area for all those who live and come to Lincoln Heights.

Truly how many members are there in the Lincoln Heights Chamber of commerce?

What have they've done in the last 10 years?

One thing they take pride in is there 3rd World sidewalk sale..

And there luncheon that are held outside of the community.

Why not go after all the property owners (slum lords) on Broadway and have them improve there properties.

A few years ago, Business owners thought out Lincoln Heights had to pay a special tax to improve N.Broadway, Why?

Nothing was ever improved, and the money was lost?

We need change in Lincoln heights,
Better change comes from residents who grow up in L.Hts and home owners.. Not from people who don't live here or thoughs who just move in..

10:57 am: O.K., then what brings UP Lincoln Heights?

11:35 am: Maybe alcohol IS the answer. Any alcohol would be served there, not for take-out as with a Liquor Store.

The private v. public funding really is the question. The former building is now demolished and the "eyesore" dirt complained of at least cannot be hit with graffiti. Where does it go from here?

And how do people complain about the LHNC as there is typically low attendance from thecommunity? Most attendees are there for a specific issue being presented and then they return infrequently at best.

On November 20, Steve Lampson was kicked out of office as President of the Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce by 80% of the votes. Yes, he received only 20% percent of the votes to stay in office.

That proves beyond any doubt that he is the worst President in the 90 year history of the Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce. He was a total disaster, and the voters agreed.

Yes, it was not just 50.1% of the votes that were against him. It was not just 60% that voted against Lampson. It was not just 70%. It was not just 75% who voted against him.

Eighty percent voted to kick Lampson out as President of the Lincoln Heights Chamber of Commerce. Indeed, there had been no worse President of the Chamber in its 90 years.
