HOT Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles (and Beyond) Political Machine for Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers Icon (and former National Football League Announcer) Vin Scully gracefully waded into the Controversy over NFL National Anthem Protests during a Pasadena Speaking Engagement ............, and declares that he will NEVER watch another NFL Game, due to the disrespect of our Men and Women in Uniform.
Video of Vin Scully's news-making response to question regarding NFL National Anthem Protests
** Blogger's Notes: For the 59 years that Los Angeles was blessed to have Vin Scully as the VOICE of the Dodgers, RARE was their a moment when the Baseball Hall of Fame Announcer (inducted in 1982), would engage in espousing a viewpoint on a contentious issue, especially political.

HOT Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

Second Term-seeking 39th Assembly District Assemblywoman Patty Lopez, is the recipient of a $7,500 FPPC Fine/Lesson on following Campaign Finance Rules.
Now 39th AD Assemblywoman Patty Lopez (center) during 2014 Ballot Count.
** Blogger's Note: Its a safe bet that any discerning observer of the 2014 39th Assembly District Contest between then Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, and now Assemblywoman Patty Lopez, would NOT cite the Campaign of the upstart candidate as an ideal Grass Roots-structured example to emulate ..........., especially in regards to its finances. As the Second Term-seeking Assemblywoman NOW KNOWS (via last week's FPPC ruling) , even the best of intentions in campaigning, are still held accountable as noted below.

6. In the Matter of Patricia López, Patty López for Assembly 2014, and Carolina Perez; FPPC Nos. 15/313 and 15/314.Staff: Senior Commission Counsel Angela Brereton, Special Investigator Paul Rasey, and Program Specialist Soni Mangat. Meanwhile ......., a Federal Grand Jury is still outstanding in rendering Justice against a Northeast San Fernando Valley Democratic Machine, that holds Accountability in contempt (allegedly).

THEE Classic Los Angeles Magazine Cover of a now former Failure Mayor.
** AHHHH, to paraphrase a certain former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar ........, AHHHHH, I have alot of Service left in me (or servicing of Telebimbos?). Thus, we can safely keyboard here that the "2018 Tony Villar for Governor Campaign" is nearly bloggin upon us. But with no apologies to "Team Tony", we must ponder whether a "Failure Politico" is fit to govern "The Greece on the Pacific (formerly The Golden State)" if he can't properly identify an ISIS-inspired Terrorist Attack as exampled below from his Twitter Account yesterday.
18 hours ago18 hours ago. and I agree, to honor victims of mass shooting, both and should debate there.

AHHHHH?? Maybe "MEAT/Chief Parker" should craft the Tweets (when not driving Tony).
CD 12 City Councilman and LAPD Reserve Officer Mitch Englander.
** Nuch 2.0?? Did I hear a bloggin backfire after the latest campaign shot aimed at LA County Board of Supervisor Candidate Mitch Englander regarding his Ballot Designation as "Councilmember/Police Officer" by opposing Candidate Elon Carr's (and noted Hector Chacon Political Machine Associate) Campaign Consultant John Thomas? In noting his Tweet below that seem to insinuate that the CD 12 Officeholder ........., and LAPD Reserve Officer, is a "Nuch in Uniform" ......, we will simply state, be careful what you wish for.

Mar 18Could Mitch Englander be LA County's 2.0?

........, to be continued.

Your thoughts ...............

HOT Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

From "Boy Wonder Republican Consultant (with help of Daddy's Money?)" who managed an Upstart Barrister into the One-term incarnation of City Attorney Carman Trutanich (before turning on him), John Thomas has now been relegated to consulting the likes of Central Basin Water District Bad Boy Art Chacon, damned the potential ethical consequences.
John Thomas with his California Alliance Group Teammates.

** Pardon the bloggin pause .............., but isn't that the former "Boy Wonder Republican Campaign Consultant" John Thomas, standing behind (and to the right) of infamous Southeast LA Political Operative Hector Chacon, his partner in FPPC-sanctioning campaign practices, Paul Fickas ........, and former California Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante?

Happy Bloggin 50th Birthday to Michael "Mayor Sam" Higby!!

Michael "Mayor Sam" Higby is fifty years young today as we send bloggin B-day wishes to the man behind Los Angeles premiere political blog.
Mayor Sam with B-day Cake and wearing the Official B-day of Sunland-Tujunga's Joselito's Restaurant Saturday.
** Blogger's Note: We are sure that the likes of Jim Alger, "MEAT", Zuma Dogg, Betty Pleasant, "Mayor Frank", Ex "Mayor Poopy", Mary Cummins and Gatto Truthers will join in wishing Michael "Mayor Sam" Higby a most bloggin sincere 50th Year of Being. A great crowd (including Joseph Mailander and wife Lynn, Ed Padgett and lovely daughter Kristin, David Hernandez and lovel spouse) was on hand Saturday evening at Sunland-Tujunga's Joselito's Restaurant to celebrate, with chocolate party treats via Frank Sheftel's Chocolate Factory, great food and of course, Mayor Sam. As can be seen below, Political Consultant John Thomas was on hand, taking a brief break from the Elon Carr for Congress Campaign, as he takes a moment to display a CD 14-centric B-day Gift from a certain "Spoll-checking Blogger"---Scott Johnson.
Who needs a City of LA Certificate of Appreciation when you can have a framed, autographed (by a certain CD 14 Blogger) copy of the 2011 Rudy Martinez for City Council Campaign's "Councilman Huizar (still?) under FBI Investigation Mailer" as modeled by Political Campaign Consultant John Thomas?

Assemblyman Warrwn Furutani endorses fellow Assemblyman Feuer for Mayor?

We bring you another John Shallman Communications snafu.

How much did "Private Citizen/Political Consultant John Shallman charge for this mistake?

ASSEMBLYMAN MIKE FUER RUNNING FOR MAYOR?

Los Angeles, October 11th – Today the Mike Fuer campaign announced the endorsement of another Sacramento politician, Assemblyman Warren Furutani. There is only one problem: the Assemblyman endorsed Fuer not for City Attorney, but for Mayor. There are concerns that the termed-out Assemblyman is looking to use the City Attorney’s office as a stepping-stone to higher office, and this latest announcement only raises more questions.

Greg Smith’s chief strategist John Thomas stated, “With this latest move, Mike Fuer has confirmed that he is not interested in actually doing the job of the City Attorney. How focused can Fuer be on the office of City Attorney if he and his staff can’t keep straight what office he’s running for?”

“Fuer and Trutanich are two pees in a pod. We need a City Attorney who is concerned about winning the next case, not the next office.” continued Thomas.

The screenshot of Mike Fuer’s website with the latest endorsement for Mayor is linked here:http://gregsmith2013.com/Fuer-for-mayor.png

I think these two campaigns are in need of "fact check" and "spoll check" respectively.

Your thoughts ..............

Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Monday

Over 125 medical marijuana dispensaries filed for permits under the City's new get tough law.  However only 41 of those shops met the criteria in the City's view to qualify. Joseph Mailander's favorite assistant City Attorney told the Daily News "We were surprised more did not meet the standards."  The City may have set itself up for a war with the pot shops' operators however as San Fernando Valley activist/businessman Frank Sheftel, operator of the Toluca Lake Collective, said "The City Clerk gave no reasons for why they deemed someone eligible or ineligible. They are opening themselves to a floodgate of lawsuits."

Curbed LA reports that Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency Chief of Operations Glenn Wasserman has resigned.  This follows the replacement of former chief Cecilia Estolano by former CD 2 Candidate Christine Essel.

Los Angeles Politics Hotsheet for Friday

I had heard this earlier in the day Thursday; Farmers' Insurance is moving it's massive headquarters operation from Simi Valley - where they've been housed since 1982 - to Woodland Hills.  It extremely rare that a large company like that moves from nearby pro-business cities to business unfriendly Los Angeles. However Farmers picked up some real estate in Warner Center when they bought 21st Century Insurance so it makes sense to move.  According to Mulholland Terrace the move caught the Mayor's office completely unawares.  Perhaps the folks at Farmers could join Councilman Dennis Zine at the new Warner Center Costco for a cheap hot dog.
