We think Garcetti is the most likely candidate to take advantage of what the city has to offer, and we expect he will balance his even-keeled nature with an appropriate scale of vision. The tenure of Villaraigosa demonstrated what can happen when a cocktail of massive vision and unbounded personal ambition exceed a leader’s focus and abilities. Garcetti doesn’t dream as big as Villaraigosa (nor does Greuel), and that’s probably a good thing. Garcetti’s vision is more focused and practical that the current mayor’s. We like his recognition of the need to seize on technology in the next four years — hiring a city technology czar is a wise move. His Great Streets program, an effort to improve 20 key corridors, is another good start. We expect more big ideas will develop and that they will complement the focus on nuts and bolts work.

As the "polling rate of return" becomes apparent regarding the "mega-endorsements" of the Wendy "The Embraced Villar Greuel Campaign for Mayor. Mayor Sam uncovers the true monetary cost of Impeached Ex President Bill Clinton endorsement of the "Embrace Villar Greuel".

As Eric Garcetti was growing his coalition this past weekend with "Meet and Greets", the elite insider supporters of the "Embraced Villar Greuel" gathered at Cantor's Deli on Saturday, for a choreographed pandering session with Wendy and Willie. Not surprising, was the presence of our former blogger, turned perennial losing campaign consultant Michael Trujillo. MEAT was full of his usual self with this comment.

Recap of today's (Saturday) LA Mayors race. Today Wendy Greuel hung out with President Clinton a man who brought more people out of poverty than any modern President ever, a lot of Latinos were helped. While Eric Garcetti hung out with shock jock Kevin James who believes sheriff Joe Arpaio should be Chief of LAPD. Nuff said.

We're surprise that "MEAT" would not mention his former bloggin comrades, but maybe he would like to comment on this fiscal arraignment between the "Embraced Villar Greuel Campaign" and the Clintons? After all, if the "Embraced Villar Greuel" was to dream her way into a new third floor office on May 21, the public should know how the true cost of the Willie/Wendy Relationship, could affect their future.

Will both candidates take a stand in preserving Hazard Park in its current state? Live from CD 13!! "Its Run, John, Run"!

Self-proclaimed Union Boy CD 13 City Council Candidate John Choi, is on the run to the Election Day Finish Line.

 HELLO!! My name is Michael "MEAT" Trujillo and as John Choi Kitchen Cabinet Campaign Advisor. I support the running efforts of Union Lackey John Choi (** City Maven Exclusive coming in the next few moments).

 If John can't outrun the chasing cast of characters (or regressive poll numbers and stinging LA Times commentary), then how can he chase down solutions to CD 13 issues? From the LA Times ....

John Choi has raised the most money in the race, but he's not ready for the job. He has served as a commissioner on the Board of Public Works, but he still has a lot to learn about the district's needs and how City Hall works. At one community forum, the candidates were called on to discuss the long-running battle over Barlow Respiratory Hospital, a century-old facility tucked into the hills of Elysian Park nearDodger Stadium. The hospital wants to sell part of its 25-acre site to a developer, which plans to build an 800-unit condominium complex. O'Farrell says he opposes the project. Choi professed to be unfamiliar with the details, demonstrating either ignorance of one of the hot-button issues in his district or an unwillingness to level with his would-be constituents.

For Choi Campaign Consultant Mike Shimpock, cutting into the meat of Choi's lack of CD 13 knowledge, is  a delicate undertaking. A task voters in CD 13 should run away from.

** Blogger’s note: In the last couple of weeks, this normally sedentary, sardonic political observer, endeavored to get out and about, to burn off some bloggin calories in seeking out some one-on-one time, with two of the more-compelling candidates for public office, in March of 2013.

David Roberts, a former planning staffer to City Councilperson Bernard Parks and Jan Perry., currently employed by USC, was a central figure in the now litigious, City of Los Angeles Redistricting Scandal of 2012. Now is a candidate to replace his former CD 9 boss, with her blessing and support.

Emile Mack, Asst. LA City Fire Chief for the South Region, came to the USA, via an orphanage in war-ravaged Korea and adoption to a South LA African-American Family.

Both men’s character and leadership qualities, have been put to the test in recent times.

Roberts was an unwilling 2012 Redistricting Commission member of an backroom-choreographed political power play, that saw City Council President Herb Wesson and Mayor Antonio Villar, cut away the Downtown LA economic engine of CD 9 and place it within CD 14.

Mack stated the stark truth about Mayor Villar’s reorganization of LAFD and its impact on public safety, with his comments validated via the 911 response time documentation scandal.

Whether its Price, Davis, Cubas or a fringe candidate such as Gochez, its clear that the above-mentioned candidates respect for CD 9, is not predicated on lawful sign placement. RE: Key Findings – Voter Survey in LA Council District 13

A telephone survey of 301 likely March, 2013 voters just completed by Goodwin Simon Strategic Research finds Deputy Mayor Matt Szabo already in the lead for the open seat in L.A.’s 13th Council District.

An initial vote question, giving voters only the names and official ballot titles of five of the leading candidates, yields the following:

So Szabo starts ahead based on his name and his title of Deputy Mayor. But the survey suggests that this initial edge is only the first of Szabo’s several advantages in this race.

Second, we see that Mayor Villaraigosa, who has endorsed Szabo in this race, is very popular – with a 69% favorable rating overall and 79% favorable among voters undecided in the council race.

Third, we find Szabo has a wide lead over Choi and O’Farrell after we read voters positive paragraphs about the candidates. We told them about Choi’s excellent record delivering quality services to millions of residents and his labor background. We told them about O’Farrell’s close ties to this district as senior advisor to Councilman Garcetti. And we told them about Szabo’s experience working with and for Mayors Riordan and Villaragosa and the City Attorney. The result: a 12 point lead over O’Farrell and a 15 point lead over Choi, as shown on the next page.

We don’t pretend that such “informed” vote questions are totally neutral, but we do try to give the best themes from each candidate, drawn from their own campaign materials, to see where voters go initially -- before turning on the positives for our candidate as we move farther into the poll. That Szabo takes such a substantial lead in a question like this suggests not only that his background is very appealing to voters, but that they were just not that interested in what Choi and O’Farrell are telling voters about themselves so far.

Fourth, the range of positives that Szabo brings to the campaign is broad and so impressive that our main challenge in the polling analysis is to narrow it down to a handful of the most effective and persuasive items. In a district in which the right track numbers are the highest we have seen so far in the city (compared to the other districts where we are polling), and in which 80% of the voters think the Council is doing at least a fair job, we can feel confident that voters are looking for experience and accomplishments. Szabo fits their bill perfectly.

Szabo is very likely to finish first in March, and that this will leave him secure for the May runoff.

Methodology

The telephone survey, using both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking interviewers and both land line and wireless numbers, was conducted with 301 likely March voters between January 13 and January 15, 2013. It yielded a margin of error of about plus or minus 5.8% at a 95% confidence level.

The Villar Greuel gets whacked at Sherman Oaks Mayoral Forum while receiving the Endorsement of LAPD's PPL Union.

What did the PPL Endorsement along with IBEW's Boss D'Arcy, do for the political aspirations of the Villar Greuel's friend Chris Essel?

Coming soon to a LA mayoral campaign candidate forum near you, “The Villar Greuel Pinata”.

Judging from last night’s Sherman Oaks Mayoral Forum, the trio of Jan Perry, Eric Garcetti and Kevin James (excluding Villar Greuel’s running mate Emanuel Pleitez), will in the weeks ahead, used their verbal pinata sticks to whack at the multiple political fallacies of the former republican, turned opportunistcrat, now the anointed successor to the Mayor Villar Political Machine.

But as most political observers will agree, it will take multiple whacks at the Villar Greuel Pinata before it falls apart, the endorsement of LAPD’s rank and file PPL Union will help protect the interest of the Villar Greuel in the short term, but recent political history shows that PPL’s endorsement of the Villar Greuel’s friend Chris Essel, along with IBEW, amounted to a major then Assemblyman Paul Krekorian victory.

Another dire indicator for the Villar Greuel Campaign, is an ABC 7 Poll that shows Kevin James as the only upwards trending mayoral candidate, gaining ground on the second place Villar Greuel. We can expect the Villar Greuel to become more pronounce in her strident attacks on James in an attempt to ward off his growing momentum in the days ahead, but that will run counter to more reports on “Calendergate“, as noted with today‘s Daily News story.

** The Los Angeles Dragnet Blog continues its follow-along coverage of our Mayor Sam Exclusive into questionable donations by official and associates of Bet Tzedek, to the City Attorney Campaign of its former Executive Director Assemblyman Mike Feuer. The Feuer Campaign finally commented on the record to the Metropolitan Press-Enterprise, while attacking the Greg Smith Campaign for having the temerity to broach the subject at Monday‘s night City Attorney Candidate Forum at Temple Israel in Hollywood.

“The donations identified in the blog are lawful.  Although not addressed in the blog, one contribution was made in error and returned.  Anyone who tries to score cheap political points at the expense of the poor, the elderly, Holocaust survivors and disabled people who are Bet Tzedek’s clients should be ashamed.”

** The same ABC 7 poll reference above in our mayoral coverage, also showed current City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, holding a lead over Feuer, Smith and fourth candidate Noel Weiss-Hahn.

In the election for city attorney of Los Angeles, the poll finds incumbent Carmen Trutanich edging Assemblyman Mike Feuer, 27 percent to 21 percent.Greg Smith trails in third with 14 percent and Noel Weiss takes 10 percent.

** As longtime Mayor Villar staffer and now CD 13 City Council Candidate Matt Szabo, garners the endorsement (of political death?) of his boss, voters in CD 13 would be wise to read the comments of Robert Guevara at the bottom on the linked report.

"MEAT" works "The City Maven" on the behalf of CD 13 Candidate John Choi

In a Mayor Sam Exclusive, we disclose an email that highlights City Hall Insider/ Driver/ Bloggin Operative Michael "MEAT" Trujillo working "The City Maven" for positive coverage regarding the CD 13 City Council Campaign of "connected" John Choi.

 We know how much former Mayor Sam blogger Michael "MEAT/ Chief Parker" Trujillo loves being the subject of blog posts via yours truly. 

 How much "MEAT ingredients" go into Alice "The City Maven" Walton's "Morning Decaffeinated Coffee"?

The Labor Left Political Machine anointed candidate in CD 13 John Choi.

We are sure that former Mayor Villar and LA County Labor Federation staffer, now CD 13 City Council Candidate John Choi, would take no offense if we called him a "labor insider".

After all, in an interview with the "Weekly of Record", Chop stated that Labor would be on the "inside" if he was elected to replace current CD 13 Councilman and Mayoral Candidate Eric Garcetti.

With his insider ties and the endorsement of the powerful LA County Labor Federation, Choi has front runner status in a crowded field of candidates. 

But if Choi is to become the Korean Villar/Ludlow, Progressive/Labor darling of the City Clowncil Central Committee, then he must deal with the "MEAT" issue.

We  understand that Choi and MEAT would know each other well during their enabling days, serving the machine. Most recently, MEAT and Choi served their political masters well on the now litigious 2012 Redistricting Commission. But with Choi engaging a large, talented CD 13 field of candidates, the narcissus proclivities of "MEAT" may do his campaign damage as this "leaked email" illustrates.

Its critical that many people (the right people) read this - since there are many political hurdles we have to navigate and getting this piece of critical information out - might slow some people down from even entering the race.

Its nice to know that a supposed objective reporter, is allegedly an willing enabler of "MEAT's and his political bosses agenda. Plus, the fact that the story was intended to impact other candidates from entering the race, qualifies the missive as an example of bias agenda journalism. But then it was the "enabling Maven" who help spearhead the "MEAT political rehabilitation tour", after his infamous email and termination from the CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar reelection campaign.

But knowing MEAT's documented history of turning sure victories, into stunning defeats (think Measure B), then it should be no surprise that hardly anyone has dropped out, despite the strong arm tactics of the Choi Campaign.
