Mayor Villaraigosa calls accused murderer Esteban Nunez, son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, "A good boy." In the meantime, a blog has posted now deleted photos from what is alleged to be Esteban's MySpace page that do not appear too flattering.

Can't Eli Broad just go away? He wants to donate $30 million to the beleagured Museum of Contemporary Art, all part of what some say is his master plan to convert Downtown LA into one big memorial to himself.  There's nothing wrong with Broad making the donation to MOCA but would it be better served helping the homeless or others struggling in this recession, particularly those who bought one of the homes he's built and couldn't afford it.

Buried deep within a blog post about one of the most annoying members of Congress, Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the speculation that Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti will seek the US House seat of Xavier Becerra who has been tapped to be President-Elect Obama's Trade Rep.  Garcetti says he is "considering it." While some would like to see Garcetti move up and perhaps other would just like to see him leave town I dread who might replace him.  Please no Jackie Goldberg rerun.

Laura Chick's latest audit blasts the management of the City's animal facilities bond program. The City Controller says that "estimates for building costs were not reality based and were exceedingly low." Chick says that design changes, cost escalation and budgetary constraints all contributed to each of the projects being delayed an average of about two years.

The City of Los Angeles has given up on it's idea to run an airport in Palmdale but it still owns 17,000 acres of land in the Antelope Valley location.  Quick! Let's sell the land and use the money to cover the budget deficit before Tom LeBong turns it into a theme park.

It's time to celebrate the holidays! Zuma Dogg teams up with Mayor Sam for this year's holiday party, Friday, at 7:00 p.m., December 12th, at Casa Princesa in Highland Park.  Come by for karaoke, live performances by local artists, Zuma Dogg's Holiday Gift Store, Casa Princesa's Toys for Tots drive, visits by local politicial candidates and a delicious $10 holiday buffet.  Everyone is welcome.

Matt Dowd to Perform at Sister City Fourth Anniversary

You may not like his public comment, but Matt Dowd is by far one of the most talented guitar players in Los Angeles.  Check him out playing ZZ Top's La Grange on Venice Beach here.



Matt will be performing this Friday night at our big Fourth Anniversary party hosted by Zuma Dogg at Casa Princesa in Highland Park. Michael celebrated his birthday at U-Wink in the Highland-Hollywood (or is it Hollywood-Highland?) Center surrounded by friends and family! The food was delicious, pictures of Michael from birth to present were projected on several large screens, along with pictures of MS Bloggers, and a great time was had by all! We also solved the mystery as to where Sarah Palin has been hiding (cute couple, don't you think?)!

Cowabunga! We Sold Out!

If you haven't RSVP'd for our next Mayor Sam celebration in Sunland-Tujunga this coming Sunday, its too late! We've maxed out the guest list and can't take any more RSVPs. Imagine that!

If you RSVP'd yes and find you can't make it, please let us know as soon as possible so we can give your spot to someone else. If you didn't get a chance to RSVP and want to be on the waiting list let us know that too so we can advise you of any cancellations.

We may be able to podcast the event live on the net via the new Mayor Sam Mobile Cam unit, assuming we can't an internet signal at the location. Stay tuned.

Kudos to Joe Barrett and the No 2 Home Depot people in Sunland-Tujunga for planning a great event and doing an amazing job promoting it.

Another Mayor Sam Party: The Cowabunga in Sunland-Tujunga

For months, the old, dead Republican mayor, Michael "Mayor Sam" Higby has tortured the citizenry of Sunland-Tujunga for their opposition to the opening of a Home Depot store in their community. Ever willing to be the lone voice of capitalism and free enterprise, the Mayor has steadfast held to private property rights as the ST residents seek to get the City to block the store's construction and opening.

For all these months, the Mayor has unleashed a written barrage, and the loyal troops in Sunland-Tujunga have said "Mayor Sam! You've got to come and see how these mega-corporation is trying to shoehorn a behemoth of a super hardware store into our tiny, rural community. Then tell us you're in favor of Home Depot!"

So the hammer has been thrown down and Mayor Sam has accepted. Following a personal, private tour by hometown hero and head Home Depot hater Joe Barrett, the No2Home Depot people, Michael, neighbors and bloggy friends alike will gather for libations and fine Mexican repast at Joselitos, the very same cantina where the alleged and legendary "Do-It Center" scheme was hatched.

At that time the old, dead Republican Mayor himself declare - yay or nay on Home Depot. And a good time will be had by all.
