Morning Brief on Gloria Romero's beef with the Old Boys Political Machine for Tuesday

Former State Senate Majority Leader, Education Reformer  and the noted "Other Woman" Gloria Romero, rips the Old Boys in Sacramento over their hypocrisy in the Senator Roderick Wright conviction.
Former State Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero
Is incoming State Senate Majority Leader Kevin de Leon pondering his own past domicile issues?
Good morning from the "East Bank of Los Angeles" as the morning low clouds burn away to reveal a once Sacramento Latina Politico, who is keyboarding missives aimed at the hypocritical Old Boys Club in the State Capital of  "Greece on the Pacific" (formerly known as the Golden State).
But while Mayor Villar proved to be a Fail Education Mayor, Romero's passion for true Education Reform (and a nine year passionate affair with late LA County Labor Federation Leader Miguel Contreras), brought her into conflict with former labor allies (especially CTA) over supporting the growth of Charter Schools and Prop 32, which would of diluted the power of unions statewide.
Thus, it should come as no surprise to anyone politically astute, that the once insider take keyboard umbrage at the current state of hypocrisy within the State Senate (regarding dealing with convicted felon State Senator Roderick Wright), in her new Columnist role with the Orange County Register. But its her comments regarding in-coming State Senate Majority Leader Kevin de Leon that are raising eye brows ..............
For example, the recently announced successor to Steinberg as leader of the Senate, Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles, has had past political opponents accuse him of carpetbagging, that is, moving into a district to to qualify to run for a particular seat, as referenced in an LA Weekly story from 2006. (It's a common political practice and is legal.)
One de Leon opponent, longtime district resident Elena Popp, rightfully called it an “old boys network.” At the very least, it was a distasteful magical carpet(bag) ride.
After de Leon vacated his Assembly seat, he supported current Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez, D-Los Angeles, who also immediately faced residency challenges. A 2012 YouTube video captures him giving three answers about where he lived, finally, laughing “I move a lot.”
Romero's comment regarding de Leon are interest in lieu of rumors over the years of their "close relationship" and they must of stung the former San Diego resident considering this "clarification" submitted to the Register .............
Kevin de Leon was leasing an apartment in the 45th state Assembly District at the time he ran for the Assembly in 2006. De Leon’s residency was ambiguously characterized in a column by Gloria Romero in the Feb. 4 edition of the Register.
........ hmmm, when did Carol Jacques couch become an apartment (allegedly)?

"Brian Johnson Myopia" breaks out in the 46th Assembly District

** URGENT BLOGGER'S NOTE: In the interest of political mental health, we focus attention this morning on what can best be described as an outbreak of post-election "Brian Johnson Myopia" among his strident supporters. The demographics most likely prone to this affliction are democrats who support Charter Schools and are in denial of the funding sources behind PAC groups such as ED Voice and others. As a public service, we post the final election tally in bar graph and numerical form. Being someone who is not a democrat and went to a LAUSD public school, I can ascertain that Adrin Nazarian was the top choice among 46th AD voters. But judging from the two examples below, "Brian Johnson Myopia" can cause major side affects to one's "political perceptual abilities"---Scott Johnson.
"Public places can spread Brian Johnson Myopia".
The Final Vote Tally from the 46th Assembly District Race
From the Los Angeles County Register-Recorder Office
Must of been early graduates of Academia Semillas del Pueblo.
** We highlight the signs of "Brian Johnson Myopia" in Bold
Dear Friends,
And they said we couldn't be Democrats and support kids!
Last night in the race for the 46th Assembly seat, Brian Johnson landed a spot as a top contender in the general election. A tough advocate for kids, a loud voice for change, and best of all - a Democrat - Brian beat out both the California Teachers Association endorsed candidate and four other candidates. He will now run against his final Democratic opponent in November.
Brian's victory in yesterday's election verifies that a Democrat CAN stand up foreducation reform and STILL be a Democrat, contrary to the protests of the local Democratic Party boss! Oh yes we can! Brian cruised past the CTA endorsed candidate to move into the general election where Democratic education reformers will be strongly positioned to make our case for education reform to the voters.
Though the trail was hard fought, Brian's triumph breathes hope into education reform Democrats who have the courage of their convictions that education is the civil rights issue of our time - and are willing to fight for the change we need within our party. No longer will we simply allow special interests to dominate our party platform on education and hold reform hostage.
So today, let us celebrate Brian's victory as a victory for students and Democrats alike! And tomorrow, in the words of President Obama, "Forward!"
Sincerely,
Sen. Gloria Romero (Ret.)
CA State Director
Democrats for Education Reform
** Then we note this case of "Brian Johnson Myopia" within the ranks of the LA Weekly. Please note numerical election results and then find the effects of "Brian Johnson Myopia" within the latest musing from our friend Hillel Aron (Hillel, get well soon!)
ADRIN NAZARIANDEM 9,06227.48
BRIAN C JOHNSONDEM 6,69120.29
JAY L STERNREP 6,60820.04
ANDREW B LACHMANDEM 6,35919.28
LAURETTE HEALEYDEM 3,48110.55
ADRIANO LECAROSDEM 7812.37

** From the "Formerly Weekly of Record". Again we highlight in Bold tell tale signs of Brian Johnson Myopia.
Update: Brian Johnson undid the efforts of the CTA on June 5, winning the most votes and giving the teachers union a formidable pro-charter opponent in November.

As it seems that "Brian Johnson Myopia" is most chronic among democratic supporters of Charter Schools, we thought of reaching out to noted Academia Semillas del Pueblo Principal Marcos Aguilar and ask if his students could answer the following multiple choice question, using the data from the bar graph and numerical chart of the 46th AD Election Results.

** Who had the highest, most or largest amount of votes in Tuesday's 46 Assembly District Election?
A. The Republican who hates teacher unions.
B. Adrin Nazarian because CTA bought the election.
C. Brian Johnson because ED Voice will donate money to Academia.
D. Will comprehend once I escape Academia for a better public school.
E. The candidate with the highest number (excluding IE money). ** Qualifies for "Gifted Status" at Academia.

** Thus, if you live within the 46th AD and after viewing the bar graph and numerical chart, your political heart is still trying to override the reality thought process of brain, then seek immediate treatment for "Brian Johnson Myopia" with multiple doses of political reality. (ie. Johnson loss!!)

Friday Free for All

California's landmark Parent Trigger Law, which allows students' parents to take control of failing schools, is currently before the State Board of Education which is crafting policies and regulations around the laws.  School teachers and administrators, of course no fan of the law, are seeking to direct how those rules are imposed.  Parent activists who worked to get the law passed, including Lydia Grant of Sunland-Tujunga, have filed an ethics complaint against board member Patricia Rucker, who is also a paid lobbyist for the California Teachers Association.  The parents are saying that Rucker's participation represents a conflict of interest and she should recuse herself from proceedings on the Parent Trigger Law.  Joining the parents is retired State Senator Gloria Romero, who authored the law, in calling on Rucker to step away.

Gloria Romero: Another Camera Happy Politican Dishing Up Fluff

Senator Romero Congratulates the Lakers on their Championship Win

LOS ANGELES, CA— Senator Gloria Romero (D – East Los Angeles) released the following statement on the Los Angeles Lakers’ victory over the Boston Celtics last night in the NBA championships:

“Congratulations to the Lakers for winning their 16th NBA title! East Los Angeles was in the house last night, cheering on our all-star team, and the Lakers did not disappoint with an incredible showing of not only athletic prowess, but a lot of ganas to win a tough match. From the eastside to the westside, there's a lot to love about LA this week and we Angelenos are incredibly proud of our NBA champions. Go Lakers!”

How about a shout out to the hundreds of Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies who had to be deployed to East LA to hold back the hooliganry and thuggery we saw last night.  When is an elected official going to speak out on just how inappropriate this behavior is - whether its scores of perpetrator or hundreds or thousands.

Memo to GloRo - sports fans generally don't care what elected officials (particularly State Senators) think of sports teams and quite frankly resent their showing up and horning in.

Metro, East, by Northeast Missives at Mid-Day

Quick missives for your lunch time reviewing.

Hundreds of local, state, and federal law enforcement officials descended on the Drew Street enclave of the Avenues Gang. With 10 SWAT Teams in tow, search warrants and arrests were made in this crackdown on this infamous clique of the Avenues Gang. A community meeting is schedule for this evening at Glassell Park Community Center.
Judge sides with City and ACLU regarding Special Order 40 lawsuit. Celeste at Witness L.A. has her take. (Caution!! Beware of Jackie Goldberg in picture.)

In Sacramento, legislation by State Senator Gloria Romero that would open personal files of Police Officers to the public went down to defeat in the Assembly's Public Safety Committee when three democrats (with common sense) Jose Solorio, Hector De La Torre and Anthony Portantino voted to abstain.

Tim Sands, president of the Police Protective League, which represents 9,300 LAPD rank-and-file officers, said he was pleased that "this bad piece of legislation was stopped." He reiterated the union's stance that the department's discipline system allows sufficient civilian oversight. The league launched a radio campaign that was highly critical of the proposed law, and Sands, in a recent interview, accused Romero of throwing a "legislative temper tantrum."

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who supported Romero's efforts was "outrage" with the results.

More Villaraigosa, announced his support of a half-cent sale tax hike to pay for transit and traffic projects. He joins his friend David Fleming and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce who forgot about market based solutions to fund these types of projects.

Hundreds turned out last night at Lincoln Park in CD 1 to discuss Hillside Development. Most were on the side of opposing rampant development favored by the likes of Councilman Ed "Density" Reyes and the "COUNCILMAN LAST SEEN AS JOSE HUIZAR". No wonder why neither were seen despite the turnout.
........and this from the LA Weekly aka "WEEKLY OF RECORD".
By Christine Pelisek
The Mayor's Office is denying to the Weekly reports on other local websites that he has a long-concealed tattoo, reading “Born To Raise Hell.” Antonio got slammed on Tuesday by the Mayor Sam blog over a controversy boiling over in the Los Angeles Fire Department, first reported right here, in which firefighters are being ordered to wear long sleeves or even bandages to cover their tattoos.
After the Daily News wrote about the controversy on Tuesday, Mayor Sam went to town slamming the LAFD’s “no show” tattoo policy, then wrote:
"And it's amazing to consider, when we have a mayor who reportedly never is seen without his shirt off nor wearing short sleeves because he sports gang tattoos from his youth."
Gang tattoos? If only! The allegation stems from a website called Bruin Alumni Association, which insists the
mayor got his tattoo while a radical student at UCLA.
But nah, says Antonio's office. The mayor doesn’t sport a tattoo now. However, his office wasn't sure whether he had one before. Who knows what the real deal is here, so please weigh in if you know.
Mirthala can settle this...........
