Another Loss for Villaraigosa

Hillary Clinton. Measure B. Jack Weiss. And now this.

Yet another loss handed to Mayor Villaraigosa following the loss of his candidate, former controversial Democractic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, to secure the Democratic nomination for Governor of Virginia.

Despite Villaraigosa sending his crack political ground shock team to Virginia, it wasn't enough to do the job.  McAuliffe was defeated 2 to 1 in primary voting by longtime state legislator Creigh Deeds (who must have gone to the Greig Smith school for spelling your name).

I would suspect going forward not too many candidates will be seeking the Villaraigosa magic touch.  Well maybe Lu will.

Team Villaraigosa's Terry McAuliffe Operation may have a problem.

" Terry McAuliffe shows support for an Convicted Rapist ??"
With Mayor Sam's brief mention of "Team Villar's" plans on helping former DNC Head Terry McAuliffe in his race for the Virginia Governorship. A flash back moment took place that McAuliffe wishes may disappear.
During those heady days when the likes of McAuliffe, Villar and others were awaiting the swearing in of Hillary Clinton as "BOTUS", money and more money was needed to sustain the big appetite of the Hillary 08 Machine, after all, Trujillo demands top dollar as the official driver.
It was during one of those fundraisers that this photo was taking in Beverly Hills as McAuiffe was being honor by the Indian-American Community and their chief "Hillraiser" Kevin Kaul.
During the festivities that were also attended by Mayor Villar and his youngest daughter, the sister of Fashion designer Anand Jon, who was facing multiple charges of rape with underage girls and models, put on a presentation where models showcase "We Support Anand Jon" shirts.
In a rare moment of political discipline for Mayor Villar, he shied away from the cameras and showed unease, maybe he had Corina on his mind at that moment ??
But McAuiffe was willing to take this photograph with the young child wearing one of the Anand Jon shirts.
Since then Anand Jon has been found guilty of 16 out of 23 counts of sexual abuse, including the forcible rape of seven women and girls, ages 14- to 21-years-old. He was scheduled to be sentenced on January 13, 2009. Because the case involved special circumstances against multiple victims, the penalty is a mandatory life sentence. Therefore, Jon will not be eligible for parole until the year 2075 (67 years).[3][4] As of April 1, 2009, he has not been sentenced in this case.[5],as noted from Anand Jon's Wikipedia Page .
In a conservative, southern state like Virginia, this might not go over too well with the voters.
But then this would be a fine test of the spin abilities of Team Villaraigosa.
Your thoughts..........

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday

As I stated on the John Phillips show Friday night Mayor Villaraigosa has little shot at securing the Democratic nomination for Governor - particularly given his wounding in the March and May City Elections - and most likely won't run. While Team Villaraigosa is busy denying reports the Mayor has opted out; they're currently on the ground assisting fellow Clinton compatriot Terry McAuliffe to win the Democratic nomination for Governor in Virginia.  This follows on the heels of a report that former Democratic Presidential candidate Ralph Nader is claiming that McAuliffe attempted to buy Nader off if he agreed to not run in key battleground states in the 04 election, when McAuliffe was Chairman of the Democratic Party.  Sounds like "T-Mac" would fit right in in Los Anngeles.

Zuma Dogg often tells me of things before they hit the mainstream press and usually I don't pay enough attention to it at the time.  Whether it was Pensiongate, Weatherly Capital or Meruelo Maddox I read about these things weeks or months after Zuma has brought it to my attention.  That's why maybe I better pay attention this time when Zuma Dogg says that City Controller-elect Wendy Greuel's connection to a fundraiser for New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo "will become a bigger issue in weeks to come."

The goofball effort to rebrand a portion of Van Nuys as Sherman Oaks has managed to find one friend in the person of Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce Bob Cohen though it seems just about everyone else in both communities - including both elected Neighborhood Councils - oppose the effort. It really seems like a battle that a Chamber of Commerce should stay out of; if I was a business owner I would think twice about Chamber membership when it spends time on something other than helping the local economy.

It looks like Paul Koretz has secured election as the new Councilman for the 5th District having just barely bested community leader David Vahedi.  Still some questons remain about election irregularities, claims the County Clerk has denied.  What everyone will be watching for is if Koretz cn clean up the mess his predecessor Jack Weiss has left for him and if he can avoid Weiss' mantle of being the "Most Hated Councilmember."
