Another Loss for Villaraigosa

Hillary Clinton. Measure B. Jack Weiss. And now this.

Yet another loss handed to Mayor Villaraigosa following the loss of his candidate, former controversial Democractic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, to secure the Democratic nomination for Governor of Virginia.

Despite Villaraigosa sending his crack political ground shock team to Virginia, it wasn't enough to do the job.  McAuliffe was defeated 2 to 1 in primary voting by longtime state legislator Creigh Deeds (who must have gone to the Greig Smith school for spelling your name).

I would suspect going forward not too many candidates will be seeking the Villaraigosa magic touch.  Well maybe Lu will.

What a joke. The turnout was only 6% - the perfect scenario for a "crack" ground oepration. This is what happens when you entrust your driver to conduct your political operations.

The phrase "Just an empty suit" has never taken on a bigger meaning than with Tony the Liar.

Indeed it is true. Mayor Villarlalayoffs political machine is losing its juice. Reminds me of a wondeful saying:

"Some people are like slinkies: Cute, colorful and you can't help but love watching, when one tumbles down a flight of stairs."

“Another Loss for Villaraigosa”

The short term Councilmember, Antonio Villaraigosa, of the 14 District endorsed Senator John Kerry, as a Presidential Candidate in 2004 who was defeated. Hmmm!

Oh man...I just got this email from an old friend from pre-city hall days who I lost touch with, for the most part, since the activism. Here's an outsider (non Neighborhood Councilish, political activist resident from the Palidsades).

Regular Guy said, "By chance I turned the channel to that city hearing channel to see if I could see ZD in the audience, and sure enough, about 2 minutes later you were barking at the council about racketeering charges. They really opened up a can of worms when they cracked down on the Venice Beach non-"art" sales stuff. Years later they can't get rid of you!"

THAT'S PROBABLY THE MOST GRATIFYING EMAIL I HAVE EVER GOTTEN.

Street-hassle, April 12:

LA media fail to cover Villaraigosa's collapse

Still snoozin', as far as I can see.

MAV is desperately grasping at straws. If he runs for Gov, he'll get DESTROYED by Jerry Brown or Meg Whitman.

"Street Hassle" is absolutely correct. The recent LA election has severely hurt his viability. His relations with Lu Parker and her "waxed betty" won't help either. He probably won't run for Governor

Which leaves federal office as his only viable option. Obama HATES ANTONIO with a passion after all his stumping for HRC.

The ONLY reason Antonio was on that podium with those other people in Chicago to start the Obama transition was to have a Hispanic besides Richardson (his Commerce Dept nominee) on the platform.

Notice how many times Obama has snubbed MAV since taking office, while actively courting the Hispanic vote (Sotomayor, etc).

Antonio won't get appointed to the cabinet, either. Obama made HRC the Secretary of State to keep his eyes on her and maybe set her up to take Biden's place on the ticket in 2012.

Nor can the Mayor run for U.S. Senate. Boxer is gearing up for re-election in 2010, with Feinstein (maybe) running again in 2012.

Would Feinstein bless a Villaraigosa candidacy to succeed her?

Frisco people hate LA people, and vice-versa. Feinstein is closer to Gavin Newsom than Villaraigosa.

Looks like Antonio is out of options.

Keep waxing, Mr. Mayor!!

Oh come on. There is certainly nothing wrong with having a waxed Betty. Please tell me that Republicans aren't against that!
