Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Monday
As I stated on the John Phillips show Friday night Mayor Villaraigosa has little shot at securing the Democratic nomination for Governor - particularly given his wounding in the March and May City Elections - and most likely won't run. While Team Villaraigosa is busy denying reports the Mayor has opted out; they're currently on the ground assisting fellow Clinton compatriot Terry McAuliffe to win the Democratic nomination for Governor in Virginia. This follows on the heels of a report that former Democratic Presidential candidate Ralph Nader is claiming that McAuliffe attempted to buy Nader off if he agreed to not run in key battleground states in the 04 election, when McAuliffe was Chairman of the Democratic Party. Sounds like "T-Mac" would fit right in in Los Anngeles.
Zuma Dogg often tells me of things before they hit the mainstream press and usually I don't pay enough attention to it at the time. Whether it was Pensiongate, Weatherly Capital or Meruelo Maddox I read about these things weeks or months after Zuma has brought it to my attention. That's why maybe I better pay attention this time when Zuma Dogg says that City Controller-elect Wendy Greuel's connection to a fundraiser for New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo "will become a bigger issue in weeks to come."
The goofball effort to rebrand a portion of Van Nuys as Sherman Oaks has managed to find one friend in the person of Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce Bob Cohen though it seems just about everyone else in both communities - including both elected Neighborhood Councils - oppose the effort. It really seems like a battle that a Chamber of Commerce should stay out of; if I was a business owner I would think twice about Chamber membership when it spends time on something other than helping the local economy.
It looks like Paul Koretz has secured election as the new Councilman for the 5th District having just barely bested community leader David Vahedi. Still some questons remain about election irregularities, claims the County Clerk has denied. What everyone will be watching for is if Koretz cn clean up the mess his predecessor Jack Weiss has left for him and if he can avoid Weiss' mantle of being the "Most Hated Councilmember."

Well, looks like the Marijuana Dispensaries just won...Paul Koretz was their candidate.
Koretz will legalize (aka "regulate") almost all of the 500 dispensaries that opened-up during the City's ICO, rewarding them for violating the Moratorium. Maybe he'll protect R1...the City always likes to protect single family homeowners and screw everybody else.
The City could legally deny all of their "hardship exemptions" under State and Federal law and not allow any more dispensaries to open, because the City already had 200 of them before the Moratorium, which is plenty. Many other cities don't have any.
And, Los Angeles will continue to be the Wild West...thanks Paul (aka "The Posterboy for Special Interests").
Can't wait to recall your ass !

Mayor Sam:
Can you please not allow these posters that just keep rehashing the same tangential topics and cluttering up the Blog...I want to read substantive posts that are on-topic, not attacks on you, Zuma, your Blog, etc. Send these Anonymous losers somewhere else to post...or why don't you have a special daily post entitled "This is the string where losers with no knowledge and no creativity, seeking some attention, can be Blog Trolls and actually believe that anybody cares about their stupid-ass posts, so that they won't clutter up the significant posts and annoy readers of this Blog".
Bottom line, you are losing a lot of readers because of these annoying back-and-forth off-topic posts. People don't want to have to sift through this Troll garbage to find the substantive posts.

"Thanks for reading and growing with us."
GROWING? The past two weeks Zuma's LA Daily Blog ranked Top 5 on BNN, while Roderick is no where to be seen in the Top 5? LA Observed has been #10 the past two weeks.
What BNN means, who cares...BUT it is a sample of about 100 blogs that choose to participate, and Mayor Sam and Zuma Dogg ROUTINELY outrank him, and the past two weeks, ZD has DOUBLED his ranking.
Nice growing! Must be all your hard hitting Pulitizer Prize winning fluff.

# ZUMA DOGG'S PHONE BANK: 2000 people can make calls at once by accessing computer program online from home or office computer. RECALL & CD 2!
# YES, with Villaraigosa AND Huizar recall campaigns mounting and CD 2 Council seat up, someone gave ZD a 2000 line computer-based phone bank.
# Did you know IBEW not only "walks" for candidates and send out mailers, but has their own phone banks. ZD NOW HAS 2000 LINE PHONE BANK, TOO!
# When IBEW's M. Kropke has to get work for his union, has to get out his checkbook payable: LA CITY COUNCIL. Zine & Smith only 2 "no thanks."
# Looks like Ed Perez & others got removed as IBEW organizers cause they stood up and confronted Marvin Kropke's shady credit card spending.
# REYES' LA RIVER CONTRIBUTION BONANZA: Wow, next to Janice Hahn, who runs the ports, ALL the unions have to "support" Ed "Dummy" Reyes.
# "EAR TO THE STREET" says, "When it comes to IBEW money; Villaraigosa, CONTROLLER Wendy Greuel, J. Hahn, J. Huizar & Ed Reyes are MUST SEES!
# "PADILLA IS THE MASTER":Ear to Street says, When it comes to gaining from shady subprime bank deals, Senator Alex Padilla "was the master."
# I'm told I should take my camera to LAX, General Services, Parks, etc and record city workers sleeping on the job. Would need a lot of film.
# Behind CM Hahn (her family is VERY familar with IBEW money), Ed Reyes is a close second because of LA River water project in "His" district.
# I hear that of all the Councilmembers that require "greasing of the wheels" Janice gets "extra" cause the Ports are in "HER" district. IBEW!
# My "ear to runway" at LAX tells me if you want something done, gotta go to Greuel! ($$$) Ironically, she's Transportation Committee Chair.
# MAYOR OUT OF JUICE AT LAX: IBEW not happy Villar-Appointed LAX Director gave runway-lights project to another union. Mayor is flipping out!
# It's going to be an "OH SH*T" Monday for Villaraiogsa & many L.A. City Councilmembers. Zuma Dogg has NEW "ear to street" IBEW source. OUCH!
# I was contacted by a new anonymous source tonight on IBEW shadiness. I said, "Hello?" They said, "Is this the GREAT Zuma Dogg?" Good start!
# MASSIVE post with NEW legendary Council Public Comments by Zuma Dogg (an L.A.icon) as televised on Time Warner Cable.http://LADailyBlog.com.

How can this blog mention Van Nuys today without mentioning that one of its biggest employers of the past just went belly up this morning?
GM went brok about 4 hours ago. It's big news every where, and is particularly relevant, considering its history with Van Nuys and the city of los angeles.

If Higby KNEW anything about the local economy, he'd know that the local economy depends a lot on home values.
Home values depend on what the neighborhood is like, including the name. Sherman Oaks homes are plain and simply more sought after.
Don't even try to challenge me on this Mayor Sam. I'm an agent-turned-broker. You often talk about things you haven't a clue about. This is just the most evident and latest.

10:08 is correct on all points. Wise up Mayor Sam

This blog rarely allows the free flow of comments that disagree with the people who post subjects, weather it is Phil, Zuma or Mayor Sam Higbie, we should rename it Mayor Scam, the home of opinions that only Mike Higby approves.

For those this may concern.
No one is against the "free flow" of comments when they are germaine to the topics.
But when some go off on personal tangents that are simply "creations from some warped mind, then they will meet with deletion.
Thanks,
Spot

551 You make an excellent point about the trolls.
We've been failing to keep them out of here; we promise to do a better job going forward.

10:08 and 10:31 never said you were not correct OF course that's what this is all about. These folks bought a few years ago at Van Nuys prices and want to sell at Sherman Oaks rates. You don't get to do that. We don't have designer communities.
Their whole effort is silly because they can change the name and it's still a shithole. They need to work t improve their community and spend less time at Starbucks.
And spend less time listening to you Laurette.

I'm hoping Zach Behrens and Andy Hurvitz will chime in soon on the Van Nuys issue.

Says WHO, Higby?
You, who knows nothing about a whole lot of subjects, especially this one? You have no clue. It does not devalue S.O. props either, idiot. You are as smart as that Doctor Deming character, assuming that it's not you. But that would make a lot of sense.

Oh please Mayor Sam. You are the reason this blog has fallen apart with your stupid absenteeism. You haven't been on the site for any amount of time in more than a month. I enjoy the blog, so I know.
Don't blame it on "we." Blame it on urself.

12:02 is a troll of the wacko loon variety however we'll indulge her comments for a moment then she goes back into Sister City jail.
Nothing wrong with the people trying to increase their home values. Just don't expect my taxpayer dollars to pay for it nor those of the rest of the community that is opposed to this divisive, racist, selfish plan.
Now back to jail for you loon.
