Is Walter Moore Running Mates with Jack Weiss and Yes on B?

Not necessarily. But if you're a Republican voter who doesn't know any better and received the "slate mailer" above you might get that impression.

Slate mailers are generally a nasty part of politics. While the mailers seek to give the impression that a political party or organization are supporting a set of certain and candidates and/or ballot measures.

Though some slate mailers are sent out by official party organizations, most are organized for profit by political consultants. Each candidate and organization supporting or opposing a measure pays for placement on the slate.

In some cases where the consultant has not been able to sell a spot for a certain race in the election on his slate mailer, he may list other candidates or causes he is supporting for free.

Though the mailers contain small disclaimers indicating that most of the placements are paid and that a placement by one candidate or cause does not imply endorsement of other candidates and causes on the slate mailers, it still can be confusing for voters.

In this case according to the Los Angeles Ethics Commission website both Walter Moore affiliated Controller candidate Suzy Evans and City Attorney candidate Jack Weiss paid to be on the mailer. City records do not confirm if Moore nor the Yes on B campaign paid to be on the mailer or not.

Caveat emptor.

Emails Show Moore Controller Candidate Evans in Bizarre Situation

During a discussion with Mayoral Candidate Craig X Rubin about threats he alleges fellow candidate David "Zuma Dogg" Saltsburg made against him, Rubin claimed that Saltsburg also allegedly made threats against little known and Walter Moore affiliated candidate for City Controller, Kathleen "Suzy" Evans.

An investigation by the Sister City has discovered that there was reportedly some disagreement between Evans and Saltsburg following Evans allegedly sending the following email to approximately 200 local Republicans:

No offense here, but have you heard this guy speak? and have you seen him? Yuk!!! He needs a bath and a mother or wife to take care of him.

If you are voting for the loudest candidate he would win.  I have seen him numerous times because I am on the campaign trail and he's at the various forums.  I would never vote for him. And I think Kevin James has him on his show for comedy relief. 

Walter Moore is our best hope and choice for mayor.  Zumma Dog would be a disaster.

Upon becoming aware of Evans email, Saltsburg claims he called Evans expressing disappointment with her email and left her the following message "You're running for City Controller and you can't control yourself - you look like a schlep." 

The Sister City came into possession of another email from Evans, this time to Rubin himself that apparently conflicts with Rubin's claim that Saltsburg threatened Evans.

I was told you got a death threat from ZD.  ZD left an extremely nasty message on my answering machine yesterday. He didn't threaten me, but... I'm not sure  if I should report this to the same detective that took care of your case.  Call me if you have time....I'm incredible busy. I will be at the forum in Hollywood tomorrow.

Saltsburg said he was astonished by Evans' email telling the Sister City "Could you imagine Wendy Greuel putting out a campaign piece saying another candidate is 'smelly and homeless'?"

Saltsburg continued, "This is the Walter Moore agenda, Moore's candidate Suzy Evans has teamed up with Craig Rubin to defame Zuma Dogg."

Evans did not respond to our request for a statement or a copy of Saltsburg alleged offensive message.

Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Rick Orlov logs School Board President Monica Garcia's bungled attempt to fire Superintendent David Brewer.  The article also chronicles Garcia's personal achievement as a poor youth from LA's eastside who worked her way through UC Berkely and USC to eventually become President of the Board of Education.  Despite her own record of accomplishment (surely obtained through years of hard work on Garcia's part) she's a purveyor of the politics of victimization which ultimately says that mostly minority poor and working class people are too stupid to achieve without government help  - despite the irony of her own tremendous rise from adversity.

Just in time for his campaign for City Attorney Council Member Jack Weiss has fired up a package of "anti-gun" proposals through his public safety committee (yet he won't move on Jamiel's Law).  Among the proposals are one that would make it easier for landlords to evict residents who own guns.  Of course, anti-gun laws have zero impact on gang members who don't follow them and smuggle illegal guns in from overseas.

He said he's not asking for a bail-out or a hand-out but Mayor Villaraigosa once again left town to go to Washington, D.C. to beg for Federal money.  You might want to send a letter to Congressional leaders that before they give a blank check to our 11% Mayor they may wish to examine all the fraud, waste and abuse that has LA in the mess it's in.

The campaign for City Controller is kicking into full gear.  Wendy Greuel has put up her website and is inviting folks to her campaign barbecue.  Nick Patsouras has qualified for the ballot as has minor candidate Suzy Evans whose first act was to slam Patsouras.
