Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Tuesday

Rick Orlov logs School Board President Monica Garcia's bungled attempt to fire Superintendent David Brewer.  The article also chronicles Garcia's personal achievement as a poor youth from LA's eastside who worked her way through UC Berkely and USC to eventually become President of the Board of Education.  Despite her own record of accomplishment (surely obtained through years of hard work on Garcia's part) she's a purveyor of the politics of victimization which ultimately says that mostly minority poor and working class people are too stupid to achieve without government help  - despite the irony of her own tremendous rise from adversity.

Just in time for his campaign for City Attorney Council Member Jack Weiss has fired up a package of "anti-gun" proposals through his public safety committee (yet he won't move on Jamiel's Law).  Among the proposals are one that would make it easier for landlords to evict residents who own guns.  Of course, anti-gun laws have zero impact on gang members who don't follow them and smuggle illegal guns in from overseas.

He said he's not asking for a bail-out or a hand-out but Mayor Villaraigosa once again left town to go to Washington, D.C. to beg for Federal money.  You might want to send a letter to Congressional leaders that before they give a blank check to our 11% Mayor they may wish to examine all the fraud, waste and abuse that has LA in the mess it's in.

The campaign for City Controller is kicking into full gear.  Wendy Greuel has put up her website and is inviting folks to her campaign barbecue.  Nick Patsouras has qualified for the ballot as has minor candidate Suzy Evans whose first act was to slam Patsouras.

More stupid gun control measures for Los Angeles. All they want to do is to make it such a hassle for anyone to sell ammo and buy ammo that people will say forget it I am not going to sell or buy ammo in the City of Los Angeles. This will only affect people who buy ammo legitimately, gang members will still be able to buy ammo in other cities or get girlfriends to buy it.

Weiss is so stupid saying the Gun Industry is a sick industry. Our founding fathers did not think guns were sick they are the basis of our liberty (read the second amendment even Obama agrees with this interpertation).

If you want to see what an unarmed population looks like look to Mexico. Only criminals have guns the honest people don't. If you can smuggle drugs into a country you can smuggle guns into that same country. To not believe that is naive. Even England is having a problem with illegal guns being smuggled from eastern europe into their country. They have more gun crime now after they banned all handguns than before they banned them.

If Suzy Evans is a minor candidate what does that make Zuma Dogg?

Wait is that the same Greusome that negoiated the back room deal of the solar energy bullshit that we had no voice in? Yep, the same Greusome who supports an absent Mayor. Brewer should sue for discrimination because they're replacing a black for Latino. Its so damn obvious and wait for the African Americans to come out strong. Monica Garcia is doing what Villaraigosa asked and that is to get his guy Cortines in. Huizar, Villaraigosa, Cortines and the school board all political hacks for the Mayor again are being corrupt fools getting who they want in.

This City is completely hosed if Jack Weiss is elected. Lazy and council no show. He wants the City Attorney job so he can kick back and really really do nothing.

What about wealthy, connected, powerful, educated children who fail? They had help and still failed. Doing well in school has more to do with personal determination and some basic intelligence than help from the government.

Higby, you equivocating one-note hate-blinded partisan...

O.J. Simpson has higher name recogniation in L.A. than ANY of current candidates.

So what??

Zuma Beeyotch is both a VERY minor candidate and a major idiot, not to mention an embarrassment to anyone who takes local elections seriously. He's been trawling around Northeast L.A. in recent months drawing lots of open-handed pats on the backs from the local gadflies and village idiots, who then also turn around and snicker at his "metropolis idiot" road show. They like having him around as the court jester, even though he's not funny, just hoping he can help them embarrass the local electeds a bit, here and there.

If he's looking for shoes to fill, then Bozo died recently. But then, Bozo never took himself as serious as that.

Dang man you've got to control your obsession with Zuma!

Take a look at recent media coverage. Zuma Dogg is the only other candidate mentioned along with Walter.

Go to events where people are shouting out "Hey Zuma Dogg!" I don't see them shouting "Hey Walter Moore! Hey Suzie Evans! Hey Bruce Darian!"

I'm not saying Zuma Dogg should be Mayor but within LA politics he has very high name ID with only a small, disgruntled band of Mayor Sam posters from CD12 and the third floor who whine on.

I would bet that Zuma is more honest than any one on the Council and definately more honest than the Mayor. The Feds got the Illinois politician for "selling Obama's seat" How many times has this happened in CD1, CD14, CD13? I am sure it was done in CD14.

Who manages the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power? Is it General Manager/CEO David Nahai, Mayor Villaraigosa, LA City Council, or Brian D’Arcy from the Water and Power Defense League, Local 18 (IBEW)? IBEW Local 18 contributed $100,000.00 in support of Yes on Proposition S, phone tax. Where are the checks and balances when IBEW Local 18 has contributed to Councilmembers Greuel, Alarcon, Rosendahl, Huizar, Hahn, Garcetti, Reyes, Cardenas, Perry, Controller Chick and a major contributor to Villaraigosa?

"Honest"?

Zuma??

You forget, this sniveling little snipe set up a "who should be mayor" opinion site a few months back, and let the MS blog promote it as some "grass roots" anomally unconnected to anything here. He never made any mention that it was his, even though he had already declared he was going to crawl into the mayor's race.

That's the "whole" part of the "tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth" that actual honest people abide by. The "full disclosure" aspect.

(At the same time, he was too stupid to actually hide it, so posters here did a "who is" on it and found out in minutes).

If any "real" candidate had done that, they'd be facing ethics charges.

So, that should confirm that.

ZD is an "attraction" candidate like roadkill makes people slow down and look.

Nothing more.

I'm betting he sets a record for election fraud fines. Not a "largest ever" type of record fine. A "fastest ever" ethics fine. He'll owe the city money before his name even gets printed on the first ballot.

"Honest"... Pfahhhh! Man isn't even honest with himself. If he was, he take a bath and get a job.

I note that Kathleen "Suzy" Evans was the first person on the Clerk's list to qualify for the ballot with her signatures, even several days ahead of Gruel.

That puts her one notch up on Ben Austen. Not enough to guarantee victory against Wendy or Nick.
