Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

Richard Bloom proclaims himself winner of 50th Assembly District Race.
Can you say Assemblyman-Elect Richard Bloom?

With no apologies to Assemblywoman Besty Butler Campaign Consultant Parke Skelton, former Santa Monica City Councilman Richard Bloom has declare himself the winner of the closely-watched 50th Assembly District contest.
Via the Sacramento Bee's Capital Alert, Bloom will take the oath of office on Monday as his lead increases with each tally of uncounted votes. Supposed astute political observers are crediting Bloom's pending success to the "Greece on the Pacific's" new Open Primary Formal. Yet observers should not underestimate Assemblywoman Butler's stance, or lack of, on the issue of expediting the termination process of teachers convicted of sex crimes, when assessing the root cause of her defeat.

But if the results stand, rest assure Assemblywoman Butler will fix her "blame stare" on a certain "Weekly of Record".
** "Private Citizen/Political Consultant" John Shallman's and numerous other Democrats former Campaign Treasurer Kinde Durkee, is going away to the Pen for eight years and must pay a $10.5 Million dollar fine. This for her sloppy record keeping/defrauding of democratic candidates and non-profit organization. Just a thought, but is defrauding taxpayers a daily past time of democrats?
** Candidate forums are kicking into high gear as we now focus on the March, 2013 Elections. The candidates seeking to replace CD 1 City Councilman Ed Reyes, recently were vetted by the Mount Washington Homeowners Alliance.
** What would Thursday be without another "Soulvine Missive" from Betty Pleasant? From the "Hostess of South LA Journalism".
AND FINALLY — Never mind the Twinkies, I hope the Hostess Co. employees can keep their jobs. My grandfather worked at the Hostess Bakery all my life and we always had plenty of Hostess baked goods in our homes. Heck, we had more Hostess sweets than meat. Which probably accounts for the fact that many of my family members are fat and diabetic

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

CD 4 City Councilman Tom LaBonge's "Chief of Field Operations" Dave Ahern moonlighting as landscaping worker at supposed Hollywood Sign tourist spot.  Wonder if the project was exempt from CEQA requirements?
Ahern and other Councilman Labonge staffers (including Sheila Irani in "work clothes") executing their "field duties" at supposed Hollywood Sign tourist stop. ** Both photos taken by Sarajane Schwartz, President of the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association, at the displeasure of Dave Ahern.

Take your choice here in labeling this story, NIMBY overreaction or unilateral and legally questionable action by CD 4 City Councilman Tom Lebonge. But make no doubt that this controversy regarding the proliferation of tourist flocking to the slopes of Mt. Lee to view the world famous Hollywood Sign and the impact on the neighborhoods down slope, is garnering major (and unwanted exposure for Councilman LaBonge's staff) attention. If NIMBY civil wars and questionable actions of a councilman are your cup of tea, then plan on being in the crowd at Tuesday's afternoon (4 p.m.) community conclave to discuss this FUBAR at 6501 Fountain Ave.

Afternoon Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

The "official pose" of the Mayor Antonio Ramon Villar Administration?
** Its time for Mayor Antonio Villar to charge up more carbon offsets in search of a legacy as he preps for another DC trip. This time he is going to sit in the audience with First Lady Michelle Obama as President Barack Obama gives his "Jobs Speech" on Thursday.
** LA Weekly's Dennis Romero took notice of our report on the LA 32 Neighborhood Council's eviction from its office space at the El Sereno Constituent Center and its looking clear that this is Councilman Huizar's payback to both Barrio Action and the LA 32 NC. More on that later..........
** Democratic Campaign Treasurer, or should we say "EX" Kinde Durfee, is spilling the beans on her use of client's money for her personal needs. But then that is what democrats do with your tax dollars on a daily basis.
** It was a full house and then some as hundreds of identity-politics believers turned out today at the LA County Board of Supervisors meeting where redistricting was on the agenda. Looks like this 10 year act in compromise will be decided by others.
