Another LAFD Scandal and City Hall Still Lacks Proactive Transparency

By Daniel Guss

@TheGussReport - Back in October, The Guss Report broke the story about a sexual harassment investigation at the LAFD in which its likely next chief, Armando Hogan, was accused by at least one high-profile civilian colleague of misconduct.

City Hall politicians and their media flacks stonewalled my questions, to the detriment of their ever-eroding credibility.

In January, both The Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles Magazine credited my accuracy and timeliness.

Now, it appears that since January 29th, the same City Hall power players have stayed mum on another scandal at the troubled agency - a cheating scandal on a Captain I electronic test.
And that's not all that insiders are telling me.

Mayoral Candidate Jan Perry's "Q & A" with Los Angeles Magazine

Blogger's note: (West) Los Angeles Magazine in an journalistic endeavor to broaden its West L.A. readership knowledge on the candidates to replace "Failure Mayor Antonio Villar" in 2013, rolls out its first "Q and A" with the candidates by spotlighting CD 9 City Councilwoman Jan Perry in its January 1, 2012 Online Edition. While most of us equate Councilwoman Perry with her steadfast support of AEG and Fast Food Bans, there are some tidbits about her life journeys and thoughts on the Los Angeles political landscape that readers may find of interest. We should note that answers here are shallow due to time restrictions on the part of the author Wall Street Journal Los Angeles Bureau Chief Gabriel Kahn. Excerpts below---Scott  Johnson.
Who’s the better mayor: Bradley or Villaraigosa?
They are both charismatic, but I’d vote for Bradley because his deep, deep commitment to the city was so clear. Bradley fully inhabited the office of the mayor. He had fluid relationships with the city council, but he also enjoyed an enormous amount of credibility with people throughout the city. So he could go out and, on his own word, rally support for initiatives.

Los Angeles Magazine presented the "sancha" and now a........

LA Observed breaks this exclusive on the cover story of next weeks Los Angeles Magazine.
This passage form Kevin Roderick's post, aroused curiosity, and merits comment.
"It's a common enough sentiment around town, even among Democrats, but a pretty startling turn given the early pro-Antonio leaning of the magazine's editor-in-chief, Kit Rachlis. When my profile of Villaraigosa ran in December 2006, the headline read Pop Star Mayor and the editors put him on the cover. Villaraigosa was only 18 months into the job then and still seemed to be maturing into the role".
It seems that Roderick is trying to have it both ways here. He pins the "Pro-Antonio leanings" on editor Kit Rachlis and seems to imply that his "bloggin, infamous puff piece" on Villar was done under the direction of Rachlis, but we know better.
Scribes like Rachis, Roderick, PR writers at the former "LA ANTONIA TIMES" and assorted Westside liberals, were all under the influence of the "image kool-aid" brewed by the likes of Parke Skelton and Ace Smith (with the distribution driven by Trujillo), and now are bearing their "political souls" in search of salvation for their roles in the debacle that is the "reign of Villar"
It is a safe bet that Los Angeles Magazine will see a spike in local sales next week, I plan on buying multiple copies, in the hope of inducing any remaining "Villarnistas", to see the follies of their ways in trusting one, Antonio Ramon Villar.
Your thoughts.......
**** Mirthala and Antonio together again!!
