Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Halloween 2012

Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson wants half-cent sale tax hike on ballot.
Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee President Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson.

Appetite for (economic) trouble ..........
As the country nears an Election Day repudiation of President Barack "H" Obama's Big Government/Higher Taxes philosophy, there are still some within the fail state of "Greece on the Pacific", who cling to the  belief that raising taxes, is the only solution to sustain an unaccountable government beast.
Sadly, Wesson's proposal was all too predictable, considering the Labor/Left stronghold on City Hall. Instead of dealing bluntly with runaway labor costs that are eating away at General Fund expenditures, Mini Amin Wesson and most of his Clowncil Central Committee colleagues will support creating another revenue drain from the wallets of Angelinos, to sustain the unaccountable excesses at 200 N. Spring Street.
**  Our bloggin colleague and former campaign, errrrrr, CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar Social Media Consultant Ed Headington, continues his forlorn hope of becoming the anglo incarnation of his former boss Assemblyman Gil Cedillo. Headington faces an uphill challenge to beat Scott Wilk for the open seat in the 36th Assembly District.
** The Old Gray, Obama-Loving Hag on Spring Street, has the background on two Democratic Bad Boys in the San Gabriels Valley, who's escapades may lead to Republican pick ups in the Assembly..
** Karma can be a political B-I T-C-H, just ask the Big Billboard pandering duo of CD 1 City Councilman Ed "Billboard Density" Reyes and CD 2 City Councilman Paul "Pandering" Krekorian, who efforts to gain political favors from Big Billboard, has a pending day in court.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Hump Day

What happen to our former bloggin colleague Ed (Headington)?
Big things in politics await those who blog at Mayor Sam. In recent memory, the likes of Zuma Dogg, Phil Jennerjahn, Jim Alger, Walter Moore, Michael Higby and this blogger, have parlay their bloggin expertise into campaigns for public office. Now another former bloggin colleague, media consultant Ed Headington, is running for Assembly in the Republican 38th District.
Ed is a nice guy and very much respected in the political community for his media consulting. But lets be realistic about Ed chances in this red district that is currently served by Assemblyman Cameron Smyth. Voters in this district are not going to run to the polls to vote for someone who worked for Assemblyman Gil "One Bill" Cedillo and who would be the anglo incarnation of his former boss, if elected. Thus, Ed has to resort to tire (but still funny) political gimmicks, such as the "missing candidate on the milk cartoon". But Ed knows a thing or two about "disappearing".
In the CD 14 City Council Election of 2011, then CIty Councilman Jose Huizar Campaign Manager Michael Trujillo, send out this repugnant, insensitive, bile email to campaign staff and others. If you refer to the list of recipients above, notice the blank space, to the right of "Eric Hogenson", what name was deleted and why, is a political story to be continue ....
** OTHER NEWS:
** The LA Weekly's Gene Maddaus goes in search of evidence of an impending Developer Rick Caruso for Mayor Campaign. The results of his search are reported here and regurgitated by The City Maven.
** The likes of IBEW's Boss D'Arcy, S. David Freeman, Ari Swiller and the City of Los Angeles General Fund, are the lucky ones to benefit from the 11% of DWP rate hikes pass by the City Council yesterday.
** Memo to the likes of EAA, SEIU 721, AFSCME, IBEW, PPL and UFLAC, when are the brothers and sisters going to admit that Mayor Tony Villar, screwed your rank and file big time? In addition, you had 14 supposed allies vote to create a two-tier retirement system for new employees. One can see the late Miguel Contreras rolling over his massage table in disgust..
** Former City Controller Laura Chick can't let go of the fact that City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, beat her and successor The Valley Greuel in court, But then most objective political observers could blame eight years of Mayor Tony Villar, on her.

"Image Management Consultant" Ed ("121?") Headington running for Assembly

The former aide to Assemblyman Gil "One Bill" Cedillo turned Mayor Sam blogger/ Image Consultant/Talk Show Host Ed Headington, has announced his intentions to run for Assembly. Headington was last seen in CD 14, running fast away from Councilman Jose Huizar's former Campaign Manager Michael Trujillo's infamous email which he received as noted by the LA Weekly
Headington (stripe shirt talking to Councilman Huizar) at the time these pictures were taken, was a paid consultant to Councilman Huizar. His duties included (a) Manage the Huizar Forum Series
(b) Integrate New/Traditional/Social Media.
But as seen in the photo above, Headington spent a great deal of time documenting Huizar's public appearances. This lead to speculation that Headington was working on more than just "a and b" listed above, with "c" maybe standing for campaign. as the photo below, taken by Headington at Councilman Huizar's Campaign Kickoff illustrates. ** We should note that Headington never received a penny from the Huizar campaign as posted here previously..
But the likes of this crowd will come in handy when Headington has his first fundraiser, as the progressive candidate should reaps the financial fruits of his past campaign, whoops consulting work for the likes of Councilman Huizar and others.

The work of Councilman Huizar's "Image Consultant" Ed Headington?

In Tuesday's Morning briefs post, we quickly questioned why our former Mayor Sam blogger and noted media consultant Ed Headington, would want all traces of his name removed from the infamous Michael Trujillo email ( we should note that LA Weekly's Jill Stewart took note of Headington in her post on Trujillo's vile email). We noted Headington's "consulting contract" with Councilman Huizar that place him at events such as the El Sereno sign dedication, pictured above. But some have opine that Headington's work may have cross over into Councilman Huizar's Re-election Campaign, as Headington's photos from Huizar's Campaign Kickoff might suggest (we should note that there is no record of Headington being paid for campaign work).
After the jump, we disclose information that was provided to us during the recent CD 14 campaign that raises more questions whether Headington was "Edward 121", who was engage in "editing or sanitizing" Councilman Huizar's Wikipedia page. Thus, if  "Edward 121" is indeed Headington, then one must question why public money was being use for Huizar's campaign efforts.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Scene for Wednesday

Olvera Street
"The Great Olvera Street Compromise of 2011" is nearly complete via CD 14 Councilman Jose Huizar.
From the Los Angeles Times, "What we came up with was a compromise that takes into account the economy, the budget needs of the city and the merchants at Olvera Street" who have been the backbone of the popular destination for years, said Councilman Jose Huizar, whose district includes El Pueblo De Los Angeles Historical Monument, of which Olvera Street is part. El Pueblo is run by the city and has its own general manager and oversight commission.
As an afterthought, the "Great Olvera Street Compromise" would be a excellent topic for "JOSE's Blog" which has been inactive for over a month until yesterday. And guess the topic of Rick Coca, errr Councilman Huizar's latest blog posting??

More news after the bloggin leap.
