Memo to Councilman Jose Huizar,

Instead of having your staff role playing "lo jacks" whenever former Deputy Chief of Staff Henry Casas enter CD-14, why don't you maintain your constituent files ??

In this month's The Voice Newspaper, column inches are devoted to the multi-year saga of El Sereno residents who had been seeking help regarding some Caltrans property on Maycrest Avenue which has become a "shooting gallery" for local drug users.

And what help did they get from the El Sereno Office of Councilman Huizar ?? This is not good.

We now fast forward to 2009, three years later and the problem has not been resolved. Enrique Aguilera owner of Aguilera’s Hair Studio one of the businesses that is affected by this on going problem recently met with Councilman Huizar’s District Director, Arturo Gonzalez to get update on the project. Aguilera was shocked and could not believe the update he received at that meeting. Aguilera stated “I found out that the documentation we submitted including the signatures have been lost.” Aguilera said “According to Gonzalez the Councilman office
has lost the documentation during the move to the new El Sereno Constituent Center, the new home of Councilman’s Huizar office on Huntington Drive.

This is after all the work that was accomplish starting in 2006.

The stakeholders met with Councilman Huizar in 2006 to ask him for his assistance in resolving this problem and to take on the communities concerns. Huizar was well aware of this problem and used it as a wedge to gain votes for his re-election campaign and according to the stakeholders, during one of their meetings he promised them that he would take care of this problem if he were to get re-elected. A couple of the stakeholders allowed him to use their names on re-election campaign flyers and re-election website and list them as community
members who supported him. They stated, “We believed him and did vote for him.”

Seems to me that once Huizar won his first full term in 2007, all constituents concerns were put on the back burner of priorities.

Other News:

** The Los Angeles County Democratic Party recently bestowed the "Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Award" on worthy recipients in the respective Assembly Districts within the county.

Some of this year awardees will be familiar to Mayor Sam regulars.

44 AD Dolores Helen Hickambottom and Eliot Sekuler.

45 AD Carol Jacques and Bill Rumble.

46 AD Gloria Gasca and Ulisses Sanchez.

For the likes of Sekuler, Rumble and Jacques, This award is dedicated to their efforts in "sharing the wealth" of the Southwest Museum with the disenfranchised widower Jackie Autry.

** This question for the CD-2 "Cut and Pasters", is this comment in response to a LA Weekly story regarding the Special Election from former City Controller Candidate Nick Patsaouras, a indication of an imminent endorsement ??

From all the candidates Tamara is the only one with a concrete , SPECIFIC commitment; that is to fight for an IG/Ratepayer Advocate at the LADWP. Tired of platitudes such as, I am for efficient government, I have business experience , I will fight for NCs , I have been a Valley resident for most of my adult life etc etc;The scandalous, continually escalating utility rates are unsustainable, unless the waste,fraud and abuse are checked on a day to day basis. I hope the NCs take notice.

** Former activist blowhard from South-Central Los Angeles Najee Ali, is piping for early release from prison where he is serving four years. Maybe he can serve out the rest of his sentence by working for Congresswomen Maxine Waters ??

** Celeste Fremon reports that Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz wants to be the next LAPD top officer. look for the likes of Councilman Jose Huizar and Ed Reyes to support Diaz.

Morning Briefs and Outtakes for this Day after the "Fifth of July" Celebration in CD-14

" The "Mayor" speaks on the cost of Michael Jackson Memorial"

*Acting Mayor/ Councilwoman Jan Perry got her face time this morning on CBS's "Early Show" as noted at the Time's "L.A. Now Blog" .

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry said she was concerned about the cost involved in Tuesday's huge Michael Jackson memorial and would "love it" if the Jackson family helped pay some of those bills.

But Perry, speaking on the CBS "Early Show," said city officials have not heard from the Jacksons. Perry, who represents the downtown area, said she did not have a cost estimate for police and other city services that will be needed Tuesday.

*Ron Kaye's OurLA.org writer and CD-14 activist Monica Harmon has some choice comments about allocating city resources, ie. cash, to cover the cost of "maintaining public order" for tomorrow's Jackson Memorial.

*Downtown News Editor and "Scribe of Wit" Jon Regardie had some salient observations and commentary from last week's swearing-in festivities at City Hall.

A note to Mayor Garcetti/Hertzberg/Caruso/Perry/Chick/LaBonge/Wesson/Nuñez/Alarcon (hah! That last one made me laugh as I wrote it) or whoever else envisions him or herself as having a chance to take the oath of office on July 1, 2013: You may want to rethink the idea of allowing other newly elected officials to approach the speaker’s podium on the day you ascend to power. It certainly seems like a magnanimous gesture, but you may get more than you bargained for. (Hey Jon, you forgot Huizar in your list of names, signed Jose Huizar.)

Villaraigosa was very good at the morning event. His 31-minute address was thoughtful and laid out a clear agenda, with notable goals and even a vague allusion to his first-term shortcomings. He was better than he has been in a long time.

But Trutanich was even better. Maybe it was partly because, as a political outsider, he’s still got that new car smell. Maybe it was because, as the son of a San Pedro cannery worker who made it into office as much on his own campaign as on the fact that people hated his opponent, few really know what to expect.

During introductions at the event, Nuch earned the biggest round of applause (master of ceremonies Derek Fisher — yes, the Laker, and no, I have no idea why he was the MC — got the second best response). Nuch got better from there. (And the next day Villar and Parker jets off to Africa to role play Jerry Brown and Linda Ronstadt.)

*That CD-14 bastion of low rents, no oversite and dubious dealings known as El Pueblo is the latest to face an audit from the City Controller's Office. That was met with this retort from El Pueblo Commission Member/ Southwest Society Member/ Woman of the Year, Carol Jacques

Although she had yet to read the report, El Pueblo Commissioner Carol Jacques was critical of the audit, noting that interim City Controller Rushmore Cervantes was a former general manager at El Pueblo.

“I felt there was a conflict of interest there,” she said. “I think you have a guy that was here last time four years ago. It’s like him auditing himself about things he should have completed.” (Wonder how Ms. Jacques would feel about an audit detailing the cost of favors, appointments, and public giveaways to members of the Southwest Society ??)

.....and as we enter the first full week of the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year, is Jose Huizar Deputy Chief of Staff Henry Casas still on the city payroll and why ??

"NOBAMA" in Metro, East by Northeast Los Angeles??

One was viewing the latest chatter from the "progressive cybernistas" at
NortheastLA@yahoogroups.com, pondering what became of the "Obama for President" office, on the corner of Colorado and Figueroa in Northeast Los Angeles.

For Edward, Paula, and Carlos, instead of waiting for the likes of the Northeast Democrats (remember that maybe, Bill and Hillary, err, Carol Jacques are still invested in a Hillary resurrection in Denver??) or the 45th Central Committee to take action, lets bring some pro-active, progressive locations to the collective table on where to place an Obama for President Office in the metro, east by northeast area.

American Apparel in Downtown Los Angeles:
What a great location to both legalize/register new voters, then have Dov Charney preach the virtues of Obama's Immigration Platform (in his American Apparel buthuggers of course).

Antigua Coffee House of Cypress Park:
Great idea to bring new progressive, collectivist coffee drinkers and thinkers into Antigua's new location. One could create the "Collective Vision of Barack Coffee Chat Series", or the "Barack, A Citizen of the World" put to song in Reegae or Folk style.

Academia Semillas del Pueblo Charter School:
Barack would love all in his collective community to learn Spanish. Lets add Mandarin and Nahuatl to Barack's vision of communicating in a collectivist world. Plus, it would be a benefit to learn the "ins and outs" of counting perspective voters in "groups of twenty".

Southwest Museum:
Hmm What?? Can you not find a better place for Barack to showcase his unique ability in bring people together? If Barack can get those fueding progessives to "cut the bread" and thus settle the Southwest Museum Controversy, then he is truly the "Messiah".

Dino's Burgers in Lincoln Heights:
Great clearing house to hand out "Obama 2008" lit. by the now homeless (more on that in a later post), "Action Slate" of the Lincoln Heights Neighborhood Council. One can see Erika Gallo being the on-site director.

.......and lastly, any Worksource Center:
Why? One can view jobs avaliable now and prep yourself in the procedure of filing for "unemployment benefits", once an protential Obama Administration goes "Jimmy Carter" to the National Economy.

45th District Democratic Central Committee Results

One will ask why the fuss over such an obscure elective body?

A few months back we broached the question whether the "Bill Clinton of the Northeast", as in Northeast LA, William "Bill" Rumble, would benefit from his support for the "Southwest Society of Traitors", better known as the Southwest Society of the Southwest Museum.

As the President of the "Northeast Democratic Club" and the husband of long time "People's Enclave of Mt. Washington" activist and "Woman of the Year" Carol Jacques, one could think that his election to the Central Committee would be a formality, especially if one is a sitting member.

Refer to these results, remind you that the first seven get elected.

On election night, Arellano emerged from days of media seclusion,
showing up at a campaign party in Lincoln Heights that was attended by UTLA
stalwarts, as well as lawyer and peace activist Art Goldberg — brother of
Jackie, the state assemblywoman — and renters’-rights advocate Elena Popp, who
is running to replace Goldberg in the state Legislature. While a DJ played
reggae versions of Cher’s “Believe” and R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly,”
Arellano spoke in halting terms about his past, saying he is sorry about
misleading voters about his academic record at USC and admitting that he put
Duffy in a “tough situation.”

Still, Arellano said he thought he could overcome a gap of nearly 30
percentage points, by talking about the less flattering aspects of his life.“I’m
perfectly willing to sit down with the public and say, ‘Hey, I made dumb
decisions, but look what I’m doing now with my life,’ ” Arellano said. “Look how
I’ve changed my life around. It’s important for our youth to know that yes, you
make mistakes, but you can always do better.”

Southwest Society Member, Carol Jacques named "Woman of the Year"

In our on-going efforts to highlight the exclusive world of politics in the "PEOPLE'S ENCLAVE OF MT. WASHINGTON" within CD14. We bring your attention to the "Mrs. Bill Clinton, err Rumble" of Northeast L.A., and Southwest Society member, Carol Jacques.

"Assistant Majority Leader Kevin de Leon is proud to announce his choice for the California State legislature "Woman of the Year", Mount Washington Association past-president Carol Jacques. (Amazing that a wife of the local Democratic boss would be consider).


The California State Assembly hosts the Woman of the Year ceremony annually to recognize outstanding women who have made significant contributions to communities across California. (By raising $$$ for my campaign).

Once an uprooted resident, "Una desterrada" of Chavez Ravine, Carol is now a powerful community voice for Los Angeles. Carol retired from Los Angeles County, in 2002, after 33 years of service. At retirement, she was the head of the Cival Service Advocacy Unit of the Probation Department. During her Career with the county, Carol was a founding member and co-chair of the Los Angeles County Health Alliance, a Founding member and the first elected woman president of Los Angeles County Chicano Employee's Association. (Uprooting things like museums in the Genes).

Carol was a former president and is the current Vice President of the City of Los Angeles El Pueblo Historic Monument Board of Commissioners. The 44-acre Historic site is the home to the world-famous Olvera Street, several museums and over 10,000 historic artifacts that attract over two miliion visitors a year. Carol is also a member of the Advisory Board of the East LA Community Corporation, a group that advocates for affordable housing.(Demotion and promotion of a dubious non-profit (Boyle Hotel) comes to mind.)

Her community involvement also includes being the Curator of the "Wish You Were Here" art show at the Bamboo Lane Gallery, in China Town as well the "Los Angel 2000" Latino Art Show presented at the Olvera Street Art Gallery for the Democratic Party National Convention of 2000. She has been a Board Member for the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, President of the Mount Washington Association and past chair and member of the board of directors of the Art in the Park program in Los Angeles. Carol resided in the Los Angeles community of Mount Washington with her husband Bill Rumble. (That is the "PEOPLE"S ENCLAVE OF MOUNT WASHINGTON" and Bill is the President of the Northeast Democrats. Sure this simple fact didn't sway award any.)

Will Bill Rumble be the latest to benefit from his membership in the Southwest Society??

Bill Rumble and his wife Carol Jacques can be describe as the "BILL and MRS. BILL CLINTON" of Northeast Los Angeles.

Jacques was once the Chairperson of the El Pueblo Commission which oversees Olvera Street. But some have speculated that her "MRS. BILL CLINTON" like persona cause her demotion to Vice-Chairperson.

Rumble is the President of the Northeast Democrats. Now he seeks to expand his political base by taking out papers for the 46th Assembly District Central Committee Chairperson position.

Some are speculation that this run for the position currently held by Robert Nakahiro is Rumble's reward for his stance on the Southwest Museum. In his time on the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, it was Rumble aided by the likes of Eliot Sekular and his wife who sought to remove the neighborhood council from the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition.

Now as a charter member of the Southwest Society, some are observing who helps with financing Rumble's campaign for the Central Group Chairperson position.

Hmmmm, wonder who that would be.
