Morning Briefs on Appeasing the Boss D'Arcy Rizzo Political Machine for Wednesday

Appeasement in Our Time at 200 Spring Street as the Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee, with help from City Attorney Mike Feuer and City Controller Ron "Neville" Galperin sent a proposed settlement of the litigious Boss D"Arcy Rizzo's IBEW/ DWP Joint Safety and Job Training Non-Profits Audits, to the DWP Commission for approval.
From City Controller Ron "Neville" Galperin's Facebook Page: "The agreement protects ratepayer money by requiring the trusts to cooperate fully with my office’s audit before any money is released to them. I believe these actions will make the operations of the trusts transparent and guarantee that the trustees are accountable to DWP ratepayers".
But the discerning observers are musing about the lack of details as noted below .........
Paul Hatfield: The IBEW should not have a say in who represents the city on the trusts' boards. That is a conflict of interest. This settlement should be killed on that basis alone.
Jack Humphreville: Ron Galperin has done a very good job. But why can't we see the agreement? After all, we are the slobs paying the bill. Do you trust City Hall?

Jose G. Castillo Mba: Why doesn't the IRS revoke their nonprofit status??? This is tax payer monies we are talking about!! There should be a criminal investigation if fraud has been committed.
Comments aside, Galperin gives its his best Neville Chamberlin (sans a transparent document to wave at the discerning masses) as reported by Rick Orlov in the Daily News.
“(We) crafted an agreement that finally brings transparency to the two ... trusts jointly managed by the Department of Water and Power and its largest union,” he said, adding that he looks forward to being able to finally audit the trusts.
Yet, with the details lacking for the public to ascertain, ratepayers, like Winston Churchill in 1939, can't be faulted for questioning the true facts behind the City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herman "Mini Amin" Wesson's led efforts to appease, whoops settle with "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo" as exemplified below.
Leonard H Horowitz: Ratepayers will not trust DWP, mayor and unethical city council until the two DWP safety non-profits are audited from 2003. No new rate increases until Brian D'Arcy is removed from union, working Californian's & safety non-profits. In the old days they would have been tarred and feathered and then thrown out of town.
......, but in 2014, the City Clowncil Central Committee, along with Mayor Garcetti, City Attorney Mike Feuer and City Controller "Neville" Galperin, disclose no documentation on the latest act of appeasing a City Hall Bully.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Wednesday

Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee Strongman Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson is front and center in exerting control over hot button issues at 200 Spring Street.
Will Mayor Eric Garcetti have the fortitude to stand up against "Mini Amin" Wesson's appetite to control the political process at City Hall?

The former diminutive stand up comic, turned political strongman Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson's political stand up act is gearing up for a special Friday performance, live from the Horseshoe at City Hall.
With supporting help from the reigning stand up bully of Los Angeles Politics DWP/ IBEW Leader Brian "Boss D'Arcy", "Mini Amin" Wesson has decreed that all normal Friday business from behind the Horseshoe ( the giveaway of certificates to fellow clowncil members lackeys), will come to a halt, as he and "Boss D'Arcy" choreograph a dialog on the latest fiscal shakedown attempt by "Boss D'Arcy's" IBEW DWP Brothers and Sisters.
In the first major showdown between a reinstalled City Clowncil Strongman (but weaken) "Mini Amin" Wesson and a newly-elected Mayor Garcetti, all eyes will be watching for the first blinks of political weakness from either "Mini Amin" Wesson or Mayor Garcetti.
**  We file this under FYI, a former Los Angeles Mayor formerly known such as the "LAtino Tony Blair" and "Antonio Villaraigosa", is taking his Parke Skelton-crafted life experience on the road as he is set to become a "visiting vato, errrr, fellow" at "Ahhharvard University".
** The newly-installed Ahhhvard Fellow's old Roosevelt friend, now CD 1 City Councilman Gil "The Dream" Cedillo, has been the hot topic in the Eastern Group Publication's chain of local weekly newspapers. First, the insular Lincoln Heights elites such as Vera Padilla and Steve Kasten are crying the blues as Councilman Cedillo moves his Northeast LA office from the Lincoln Heights office property of Kasten, to Highland Park. Second, the normally Cedillo-friendly EGP Editorial Board, implores the new CD 1 City Councilman to clean up the trashed Figueroa Corridor he inherited from former Councilman Ed "Density" Reyes.
** One of the casualties of this blogger's time away from the blogging keyboard, was not sharing the great musings of Los Angeles reigning "Scribe of Wit" Downtown News Editor Jon Regardie. Its with great difficulty ( in keeping a straight face, while LMAO!) as we bring you this excerpt from his list of  "suggestions" for new Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Get a Monkey Butler: A mayor needs someone who will do what he asks and never leak information to the press. Political aides can only guarantee one of those. A monkey butler, however, can handle both. Garcetti should hire a monkey butler who can wear a cute outfit and do things like fetch coffee, grab pens and, should the need arise, leap from the rafters and bite the ear of Councilman Paul Koretz. The monkey butler should be named José Huizar Jr.
Not only would this accomplish important work goals, but a monkey butler would show that Los Angeles has a leader who thinks outside the box. This could also be a pilot program, at least until things go all Planet of the Apes or DWP union boss Brian D’Arcy decides to try to organize them.
Yes, José Huizar Jr. the monkey butler would have to wear a diaper. But he probably wouldn’t be the first one in City Hall to do so.

..... in lieu of the Princeton Graduate, CD 14 City Councilman's latest controversy, we ponder if the "CD 14 Monkey Butler" shares the same "Sexual Proclivities"as the late, great Comedian Richard Pryor's pet squirrel monkeys (** Caution! Linked video contains profane and explicated language)?

Bedtime Snack from your Uncle Sam

Happenings around the LA political world to chew on before you go to bed...just about every one of these stories constitutes billable work for Political Consultant/Private Citizen John Shallman.

Greg NOT Greig
City Attorney candidate Mike Feuer wants you to remember that opponent Greg Smith is not Greig Smith, former Councilman. So he has sent out a mailer. No matter. The only two names you'll need to know come the general election is Smith and Trutanich.

Clinging to her Mayoral campaign, Wendy Greuel, in a Bob Dole move, sends a piece to mailboxes accusing fellow candidates Eric Garcetti and Jan Perry of lying about her record. Next thing she'll be telling us she paid for the microphone.

Jan Perry puts out a mailer with Wendy Greuel's Republican voter registration. Wendy shoots back with a photo of the pixie at the 2012 Democratic National Convention. It was probably shot right after this great moment for LA Democrats:

A big day in endorsements for Wendy Greuel. First, she got the nod from Orange County Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, best known for her "colorful" Christmas cards and alleged affairs with military officers turned lobbyists. Later in the day, Wendy was backed by the far more boring  Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles; the endorsement now raising significant concerns with tenant and affordable housing advocates.

Hey, Loretta!
Meet Dante Atkins. DailyKos blogger and Democratic Party activist who may be Wendy Greuel's worst nightmare. Atkins is a prolific Tweeter with fairly frequent posts at Twitter hitting hard on Greuel's misdeeds and missteps. Of note, Atkins catches that Wendy's new "Truth Squad" web pages is still claiming the millions of dollars Greuel says her office save the City, yet debunked by the LA Times, and the slimeball move by the Greuel campaign to release the past arrest record of a reporter who made public records requests of the Controller's office.

Familiar with the Hollywood Community Plan? Wendy Greuel was against it before she was for it, most likely the result of a come-to-Jesus sit down with Boss D'Arcy. Former City Planner and hero to low-density activists, Dick Platkin, writes at Ron Kaye why the Plan, based on completely inaccurate data about the expected growth of Los Angeles, is a really bad idea. If adopted citywide, it could lead to massive densification and perhaps high rises in bucolic places like Sunland-Tujunga, Studio City, Valley Village and elsewhere. But Wendy now LOVES it!

We alluded to Wendy's "Truth Squad" (snicker)...LOTS more on that in the coming days.

And finally, if you want a laugh in this election season (and we all need one about now), check out the Twitter page of @eric_garcetti. Nope, not that Eric Garcetti, but a fictionalized version of the District 13 Councilman turned Mayoral candidate who Tweets that "The #ecofriendly future #vegan in me wants 2 say "No" to #tacos de carnitas but the #Latino side of me keeps saying "Si! Si!"" and that "#teamgarcetti has harvested enough rainwater to irrigate every lawn in Studio City today!" This Eric Garcetti not only wants to be your next Mayor but "Your next best friend. Your next everything."

Sweet dreams!

Vehicles as perks at the nation's largest Public Utility

Happy "El Presidente" Weekend amigos y amigas!!

117 and 250.

What do these numbers relate to??

The number of vehicles given as perks to DWP employees.

According to the story by scribe Beth Barrett in today's Daily News all six-figured salary supervisors and 250 selected employees are givens vehicles for their usage at the nation's largest Public Utility.
This comes as the DWP shills around the city for a rate increase coming on top of the passage of Prop S.
Give credit to the Daily News for their continueous probing of spending at the DWP despite the best efforts of IBEW's strongman "BOSS D'ARCY" lawsuits and H. David Nahai's spin.
This comment from DWP Commissioner Nick Patsaours,
Patsaouras said he will ask for a review of the utility's vehicle policy at
Tuesday's board meeting, and he called paying for employees' classes on
pregnancy and breast-feeding "absurd."
