Tamar Galatzan! Take Down Your Campaign Signs!

One side effect of development is sometimes is vacant buildings and lots that can sometimes sit empty while construction awaits. Too often those sites can become home to graffiti, dumping, the homeless, weeds, illegal signs and other types of everyday urban blight.

The problem has been noted by that ever vigilant Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association activist - Ellen Vukovich - who writes a regular column for the weekly Sherman Oaks Sun. Vukovich describes the following action plan for eradicating development related blight:
Haven’t you wondered what it takes to make certain all of the vacant buildings and lots scheduled for demolition or remodeling don’t become pockets of blight in our Community? Thanks to a few devoted SOHA Board Members, specifically Jules Feir, Chuck Betz and David Rankell, these gentlemen are responsible for making certain the City maintains vacant and/or abandoned structures, and empty lots, by doing any one or a combination of these acts – pulling down illegal signs, placards, arranging for debris and shopping carts to be removed, contacting various City departments and (the always responsive Council Field Deputies, Joan Pelico for Weiss; Pat Davenport for Greuel) and our diligent Neighborhood Prosecutor, City Attorney Tamar Galatzan, to ensure that laws are upheld.
OOOPS! Tamar Galatzan? You might remember that Tamar was elected to do the Mayor's bidding as an incoming member of the LA Unified School board. However until now she's been serving as one of Rocky Delgadillo's "Neighborhood Prosectuors" who, among other things, is supposed to be out there pulling down illegal signs not leaving them up 35 days after the election is over.

As we reported at the end of last month, Tamar's signs were littering up many parts of Sherman Oaks, even though other candidates were being responsible and taking down their signs promptly. Galatzan's signs are still trashing up the community, including several development sites in Sherman Oaks and the sides of freeways. To see more pictures of these signs, click here.

Its one thing for a politician to be a scofflaw. Its another thing when the very law you're breaking is one you've been charged with upholding. What a great example to set for the children.
