Its Special Election Day ........, Again in the 34th Congressional District

Its "D (for Decision)-Day 2017" in the 34th Congressional District as Voters partake in their Constitutional Right (protected by those who landed on the beaches of Normandy 73 years ago today) to select the replacement for, now California Attorney General Xavier Becerra.
Will an ENERGIZE Korean-American Electorate empower a Special Election Surprise for Robert Lee Ahn ......, at Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez's Expense?
** Blogger's Notes: Its "D (for Decision)-Day 2017" in the 34th Congressional District as the likes of the "Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez for Congress Moving Burro (with Carpetbag)", along with potential 51st Assembly District Special Election Candidates, await the presumptive Victory of the Eagle Rock (via Riverside) Politico, barring the UNEXPECTED ..........., which according to data via the LA Times, cannot be dismiss outright.
The LA Times reports that early Mail-in Ballot returns are showing a BOOST in Korean-American Voter Turnout that may result in a substantial narrowing of the presumptive Assemblyman Jimmy Gomez Victory Margin.
First, As of Monday afternoon, 21,000 mail ballots had been received, an increase of about 20% compared with the day before the April primary. Korean American voters, who make up just 6% of voters in this majority Latino district, are outpacing Latinos in early returns.
Second, About 5,660, or 30% of Korean American registered voters, have already voted, according to a surname and birthplace analysis by Political Data Inc. The day before the primary election, about 4,000 Korean Americans had already voted.
Third, Korean Americans made up about 27% of early mail returns as of Monday evening, and Asians as a whole, who have received targeted ads from Ahn, made up about 38% of the ballots.
Most telling ........, This doesn't include more than 1,400 voters who participated in early voting over the weekend. The vast majority of those weekend votes came from Pio Pico Library in Koreatown, where many Korean Americans also turned out in force to vote.
In discerning the information posted above, it would not be inconceivable that Candidate Ahn may have the lead this evening when the initial tally of the early vote is posted, but the big question will be whether Assemblyman Gomez will rise above his normal "Dull Persona", in motivating his Base to counter an ENERGIZE Korean-American Electorate----Scott Johnson.
The Jimmy Gomez for Congress Moving Burro awaiting Today's Election Results.
Eagle Rock Progressive Luis Lopez CAN"T WAIT for a presumptive Gomez Victory Tonight.
Will former CD-1 City Councilman Ed Reyes become the "Congressman Jimmy Gomez Anointed Assembly Successor"?

Noontime Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Thursday

Former CD 14 Chief of Staff and current CD 9 City Council Candidate Ana Cubas.
A $100 dollar contribution makes you a friend of Ana Cubas.
We recommend that Cubas sign DVD copies of her Youtube Classsic Video where she explains (or attempts to) the various discretionary funds in CD 14, and give them away for a higher contribution.
Great noon hour to all on this day before another TGIF, especially after a horrid election week for some of our local politicos. While some with the names of Nuch, Zorro Marxist, Brian of the $6th AD, Little Mikey and Tom of Montebello shudder at the thought of dark political days ahead. Others are planning their initial foray into the political world such as former CD 14 Chief of Staff Ana Cubas who aspires to become the only Female Princeton Graduate on the City Council. One would think that her former boss City Councilman Jose Huizar would be opening doors for his fellow Princeton Grad, but Cubas candidacy has cause some consternation between supposed allies Councilman Huizar and City Council Presdent Herb "Mini Amin" Wesson who is backing Assemblyman Mike Davis for the seat being vacated by 2013 Mayoral Candidate Jan Perry. Thus, after the collusion of Council President "Mini Amin" Wesson and Councilman Huizar on "City Redistricting 2012", the CD 10 City Council Strongman may wonder if the Princeton Grad is trying a backdoor attempt to weaken his control on the horseshoe.
** Battered former District Attorney Candidate and still City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has made it clear that he will run for re-election to his current position. But with his past DA Campaign Consultant John Shallman already spending challenger Assemblyman Mike Feuer's campaign resources, there maybe hope for Nuch in maintaining his City Hall East office space in 2013.
** Memo to MEAT, Brian and other assorted "campaign consultants" for CD 2/7 City Councilman turned 39th Assembly Candidate Richard AlarCON. Your battering at the polls by Raul Bocanegra may of been predicated by loss of focus on the "Comadre Network" by the Northeast San Fernando Valley Zorro Marxist. "MEAT", remember these ladies blog via word of mouth, not keyboard.
** 51st Assembly District Race third place finisher Arturo Chavez tells the Echo Park Patck that he'll most likely back Luis Lopez in the General Election. One person had this to say about the Chavez Campaign via the LA Weekly while lauding City of Bell BASTA's Christina Garcia defeat of Montebello's Tom Calderon in the 58th AD.
This is such a refreshing story - and a Latina math professor to boot, what are the odds of that?  It is ironic that she comes from the same hometown as political hack and felon Mario Beltran.  Mario just got his ass handed to him running Cedillo's chief of staff's campaign to replace him, Arturo Chavez.  Too bad, because Arturo was a good guy that got caught up in the back rooms of political "kingmakers."  Beltran also was an ardent Calderon supporter too although it seems that Tom could have benefitted more from a jock strap than from Beltran.  All these political staffers thinking they can run campaigns and carrying themselves as the gurus of Latino politics should cringe in shame.

.......... but the irony here is that in defeat, Arturo Chavez is standing up against the machine/kingmaker's quest to impose Jimmy "PACman" Gomez upon our community, by supporting Luis Lopez. For that, he is to be commended..

Your thoughts ..............

51st Assembly District Candidate Arturo Chavez "Seeking a Parade of Contributions".

Assemblyman Gil Cedillo's District Director and Candidate for the 51st assembly District Arturo Chavez riding in the Lincoln Heights Holidays Parade.
Blogger's Notes: Many within the activist community of what is the newly drawn 51st Assembly District, had wonder what had become of Assemblyman Gil Cedillo's longtime staffer Arturo Chavez's campaign to succeed his boss in Sacramento in 2013, two words Kinde Durfee. As LA Weekly's Gene Maddaus greatly exposes in the current edition of the "Weekly of Record", Chavez and many other democrats were victims of Durkee's financial shell games. Now Chavez and others have been force to step up their fundraising efforts as illistrated by Chavez get together tomorrow evenining on Mt. Washington---Scott Johnson.
