Of Hamburgers and Homophobes

Today, blogger, serial candidate and sometime Hollywood Tour Guide Phil Jennerjahn threw Kevin James under the lavender bus.

That's radio talk show host turned mayoral candidate Kevin James who likely has identical positions to Jennerjahn on issues such as business tax reform and event waivers and individuals such as Mayor Villaraigosa and Council Members Jan Perry, Paul Koretz and Paul Krekorian.

What's Phil's beef? James is a self confessed homosexual.

I don't know what the gay or straight positions are on trash pickup, low income housing or Tom LaBonge's shady dealings with the Hollywood Sign but Phil must.

But because it is likely that Phil would not support Alex Padilla, Wendy Greuel, Jan Perry, Eric Garcetti for Mayor, he might want to consider getting behind James, of course no pun intended.

We're suggesting the two get together at a local In-N-Out, have a Double Double Summit and work out their differences.

Of course, Kevin really has better things to do. Phil will continue to amuse.

By the way Phil not sure why you were surprised.  Kevin has been out for years and very active in Gay political circles.

What The Hell?

Recently deceased bigot, homophobe and Good Ol' Boy, Senator Jesse Helms is still dead.

But his name lives on in Rachel Weiner's post at the HuffPo! Seems nutty Elizabeth Dole introduced an amendment to name an HIV/AIDS relief bill after the still deceased bigot, racist, segregationist, anti-gay buffooon Jesse Helms.

SA 5074. (pdf file) Mrs. DOLE submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by her to the bill S. 2731, to authorize appropriations for fiscal years 2009 through 2013to provide assistance to foreign countries to combat HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: On page 1, line 5, strike "and Henry J. Hyde" and insert ", Henry J. Hyde, and Jesse Helms".

The blogger at Joe. My. God. recaps some of Jesse's finer moments in the fight against HIV/AIDS:

Jesse Helms, the man who in 1987 described AIDS prevention literature as "so obscene, so revolting, I may throw up."

Jesse Helms, the man who in 1988 vigorously opposed the Kennedy-Hatch AIDS research bill, saying, "There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy."

Jesse Helms, the man who in 1995 said (in opposition to refunding the Ryan White Act) that the government should spend less on people with AIDS because they got sick due to their "deliberate, disgusting, revolting conduct."

Jesse Helms, the man who in 2002 announced that he'd changed his mind about AIDS funding for Africa, but not for American gays, because homosexuality "is the primary cause of the doubling and redoubling of AIDS cases in the United States."

Yes, let's honor those who have died from AIDS, those who have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, as well as the families who have had to bury loved ones and who now care for family members with the disease by naming a relief bill after a man who was filled with nothing but hate for everyone afflicted by the disease.

And let's not forget all the women and children in Africa trying to stave off this disease. I guess they asked for it, too... right, Jesse? But thanks for reversing your position on AIDS funding for the negrahs in Africa, I'm sure they 'preciate it.

Dear Elizabeth Dole... you are demented; please go away.

Dear Jesse Helms... do me a favor: please stay dead. Thanks.
