The Valley Connection at the RNC Convention

Dear RNC '08 -- I am sad you are over. Thanks for teh lulz.

from Wonkette:

America laughed again last night as a terrible “green screen” once again appeared behind John McCain, during his big speech at the RNC.

Well, the “green” was actually the lawn of a school in North Hollywood, California. And the school is called “Walter Reed Middle School.” And the random idiot assigned the task of picking John McCain’s video background during the biggest speech of his career was apparently told to put a picture of Walter Reed Army Medical Center on the screen, and ineptly googled this utterly random California school picture, instead. And nobody knows what Walter Reed Hospital looks like, anyways, so everybody just assumed it was another one of his mansions. The school is about to release “a statement” damning McCain for inappropriately using the picture of this innocent school. All of this, as Josh Marshall notes, is exactly what happened in the movie Spinal Tap.

[Update -- Here's the statement from Donna Tobin, the principal of Walter Reed Middle School...]

"It has been brought to the school's attention that a picture of the front of our school, Walter Reed Middle School, was used as a backdrop at the Republican National Convention. Permission to use the front of our school for the Republican National Convention was not given by our school nor is the use of our school's picture an endorsement of any political party or view."

Oh, NO he dih-int!

Oh, yes he did!

Dang ... homegirl looks beat! Poor Silda Spitzer. She's having a really bad day.

It's bad enough to have your most embarassing moment captured for the world to see, but guess what -- Silda gets to see it 24/7 on cable news; read it in newsprint and on the internet; and gets to hear the talking heads go on and on on talk radio! Her husband, Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been caught on a federal wiretap arranging to meet with a ho at a Washington ho-tel last month.

But on the bright side: she can forgive him, run for political office as a senator or something, and use that office as a stepping stone to the Presidency!

Hooray for Second Wave feminists! Those ladies know how to work it!

Now, I know ... I know ... boys will be boys; and as a girl I realize that. My only problem with Horn Dog Spitzer is that he put the best interest of his wang before the best interest of his family. This stuff ALWAYS gets found out. Seriously, who did he think he was fooling? As if no one would ever find out about Client 9 and Kristen ? [ed. --this is a .pdf of the Spitzer complaint] (what a dorky-ass john name; sounds like an Ed Wood movie: "Client 9 from Outer Space!") Puh-leeze!

Dumbass.

I oughta start a chain of Valley Doll Gentlemen's Clubs for politicians. No hassle, complete annonymity, no one to dime you out later! Seriously, can someone check into that for me? Someone needs to get these guys some hassle-free action so's we can spare the kiddies and the wives the really, really unecessary humilitation once the truth comes out -- and Boys ... the truth ... ALWAYS ... COMES ... OUT! TRUST!

New York will survive; the office of Governor will survive; the Spitzer's marriage --well that remains to be seen; but as for the world that he had built for himself and his family (three daughters and Dude ... that's some gnarly karma to work out later, not to mention the Daddy Issues those girls are going to have to work out ... hey, don't the girls with Daddy Issues become strippers, porn stars and hookers? It's a vicious cycle, isn't it boys?), the world which found his family proud of their father/husband and the accomplishements he achieved in this crazy career of politics ... well, that world -- he pretty much nuked from orbit.

And that's what makes him the asshole in all of this. Not that he couldn't keep his zipper up, but that he could take his family down so spectacularly with him.

Dumbass.
