Garcetti Wins Major Honor
The California Junior Chamber Foundation announced Monday evening that Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti is among those chosen in the 2008 crop of Outstanding Young Californians.The California Jaycees Foundation and California Junior Chamber annually select and honor Outstanding Young Californians. Each honoree is awarded the crystal OYC trophy. According to the organization the awards ceremony "dramatizes each winner's career in narrative form and provides a stage for the honorees to challenge and inspire California's youth." The awards ceremony will be held Saturday evening, April 5th, 2008 at the Universal Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.
The program is considered to be a preliminary for the United States Jaycees Ten Outstanding Young Americans (TOYA). Among past TOYA winners are Bill Clinton, Elvis Presley, Tony Robbins and George Stephanopoulos .
