Laura Chick may be running for City Council. If Wendy Greuel is elected City Controller next year and there's an opening for the 2nd District Councilwoman's unexpired term, Chick may carpetbag it from her current home in Silverlake to Valley Village. That would put a big crimp in the plans of likely candidates School Board Member Tamar Galatzan and former Assemblymember Cindy Montanez or even another carpetbagger, Seventh District Councilman Richard Alarcon.The LA Times apparently thinks its news that Mayor Villaraigosa will not say that he is nor that he isn't running for Governor. With all the staff cuts at the FORMER FISHWRAP OF RECORD or if you will THE OLD GRAY HAG ON SPRING STREET you think they wouldn't have time for non-journalism like this.
Despite gang crime increasing amongst millions of dollars wasted by the City of Los Angeles on so called "anti-gang programs" (some of which pay gang members for "services" and even led to putting guns in the hands of gang members) the politicians are moving forward with increasing taxes yet again to provide millions of dollars for who knows what. And what are some Clowncil Members' concerns about the measure: that it doesn't spend enough in their District. Gee, Dennis Zine don't you think it is fiscally irresponsible to raise taxes in a bad economy for programs that will likely waste scarce dollars?
County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky is earning brownie points for his Mayoral campaign. The Supervisor is using public transit twice a week to get from home to work. However Zev is doing it without the cameras, entourage and press releases of Mayor Villaraigosa.
They keep raising your rates but if you sign up to pay those growing water and power bills online, the Department of Water and Power will give treat you to a drink at Starbucks! Okay they're really giving you $5 but spend the money with your local barista and stimulate the economy!
Big debate here on the blog over the term "noone," which we assume is someone's way of saying "no one." In case you need an authority on it, Washington State University says "'No one' is always two separate words, unlike 'anyone' and 'someone'”

Jerry Brown will be elected Governor for the next two terms.
Good story in Daily News from Kerry saying Villaraigosa dramatizd the city budget and kept saying he would lay off 700 employees. It never happened. Typical lying little man.
He HAS to run for re-election...the mayoral election is in '09 and the governor election is '10. He can't say, "I'm not running for re-election as mayor so that I can run for governor." (I'm sure he WISHES he could do that...)
So, if he doesn't win mayor, he ain't gonna be governor -- and his own people know that.
So WOW!!!, isn't the mayor a stand up guy for saying he is running for mayor, not governor.

Prediction: If Chick ends up in a race against Alarcon or Montanez, it will be one of the filthiest - and most entertaining - in LA history. Galatzan will go home and bake cookies.
Guess this explains why Chick never audited Bridges. No sense pissing off council members who's support she will seek in her campaign. Everything she's done has been motivated by political ambition.

The money that Tony V. has been raising for his mayoral re-election campaign has to be spent for the mayoral election and can't be shifted to a campaign for Governor.
If Tony V. DOES get into the race for governor, there are two things it will do:
1. demonstrate that present promises not to leave an office mid-term are modifiable, as in the past;
2. keep him away from the Mayor's office, assuming he's re-elected, and not doing the city work first, as in the past.
The Mayor is probably trying to anticipate what will be the subjects of attack on his current service and then planning the responses to each. Hint: Start at "Day One" of the Mayor's Scrapbook, and flip pages, one by one, and you will see most of the shortcomings of the administration.

Villaraigosa head man Ace is doing tons of polling to find out what LA thinks of our Mayor and insiders are saying those numbers don't look good that's why he's going after all the mula now. Villaraigosa word has it is very worried about Newsome and he should be.

L.A., Miami Home Foreclosure Rates More Than Double
July 2 (Bloomberg) -- New foreclosures almost quadrupled in Los Angeles and doubled in Miami in the second quarter, with as much as $5 billion worth of loans going bad in L.A. alone, the online real estate data company PropertyShark.com reported.
The number of homes scheduled for auction in Los Angeles rose 14,505 compared with 3,797 in the same period a year earlier, PropertyShark said in a report distributed by e-mail. In Miami-Dade County, the number climbed to 2,677 from 1,282.
``The foreclosure chart for Los Angeles is unfortunately starting to look like a ski jump,'' Adina Dumitru, a member of PropertyShark's foreclosure products team, said in the statement.
I hope Tony V. keeps dodging the "will you run for gov" questions - artfully, or otherwise.
It's great, because anytime anyone who knows anything about recent L.A. history asks this question, he gives them some dildo-spin answer, and then they cut away to the reporter for the final word, which goes something like this.
"Of course, Mayor Villaraigosa also said in 2003 when he ran for city council that he wasn't doing it just to run for mayor two years later, but he would serve on council for at least one full term. He then 'changed his mind' and ran for mayor in 2005.
SO, there's no dodging the factual history of this man's "truthlessness". And it just KEEPS getting repeated, OVER and OVER again - and will for months.

The Northeast Democrats ought to be holding their noses from the stench of the Southwest Society hypocrites who will be in attendance at the "fun" picnic. About nine months ago Steve Sugerman (PR felon) called the LA Press to the Southwest Museum. Antonio V. stepped to the microphone and announced the formation of the Southwest Society to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Southwest Museum to convert it to Autry's unfunded plan: a cultural center. The Mayor had guards to keep the community out of the press conference.
Autry has just put the Southwest Society's name on a series of events at the museum in July but wait.... that's not raising money is it? It's just trying to create some false impression that the Southwest Society is actually doing something -- even though it's not raising money.
Kevin de Leon and Ed Reyes had the common sense to tell Antonio's people they would not lend their name to such an obvious lie as the Southwest Society. When will others who lent their name in good conscience resign from this Steve Sugerman PR fabrication?
The Mayor is a laughing stock in his own neighborhood. When will the rest of LA figure it out?

He thinks that ZD has done gone an fixed the entire 09 Mayoral election because ZD put up a poll asking for people to list who they would like to replace Tony Villar....oops I mean who they would like the next Mayor to be. Anyway, ZD hater (aka 11:30) had some fun daydreaming in his own tiny little mind that ZD collected a mountain of data, and then distorted, manipulated, and misrepresented the ill-gotten info. to taint the 09 election. Damn ZD is good!!! He did all of this right under our noses. And months ahead of the election.

Best thing that could happen at City Hall would be for Laura Chick to run for CD2 after Greuel becomes controller. Chick has great name i.d. both in the Valley as well as citywide. She would probably be able to handily defeat anyone would might be put up by the machine to run against her....
Laura Chick is a carpet-bagging, career politician who doesn't want to get off the public teat. Google Richie Ross. This woman has more skeletons in her closet than a haunted house.
Someone is accusing Ed Reyes of having "common sense?" Run, to the other side -- there must be much to recommend it, if he's against it.
Must be the same person who's coming to perro's defense, unless it's the perro himself posting Anon. The "election cheat" Mayor09refers to the perro getting Higby to post the site and poll WITHOUT revealing it was him -- a whole thread was devoted to tracking down the site owner, to the perro's PO Box on PCH. Higby apologized for having been lied to and hence unintentionally defrauding the public. Now, that he's got no choice but to fess up and include it on his website, Noone is responding to it.
Higby has been very dicey lately, occasionally reminding people that "we know who you are" when he particularly doesn't like a post.
He did it the other day, alluded to what percentage of views come from City Hall, and how many from resident addresses.
That is just another way that Higby is a bully. A real, schoolyard bully becuz "noone" wants to play with him.
Anyone who posts anything that isn't in line with the bloggers here, and remotely doesn't bash the "Midget Mayor" and his cronies, is instantly accused of being "a third room spinner." So why would any real spinners spin here?
Now that Zuma's back and getting some media attention, although as a nutjob and nuisance like when he tried to mug behind the Ch. 11 Fox News anchor, zuma's crazier than ever and his ego knows no bounds. So of course people stay away from this blog even more and from him - except Dennis Zine. Notice zuma never posts anything bad about Zine? To learn who his tipsters are, just see who he's NOT bashing. Let's see: he openly dislikes Eric, Greuel, Weiss, Parks, and Rosendahl. He apologized for calling Hahn a ditz, the worst he ever did her, so maybe... Smith is too decent to dish dirt about his colleagues to any blogger, Perry doesn't like him. The best thing that can happen at City Hall is that Laura Chick run for Mayor.

And 7:20 PM, it is faulty logic on your part to try and figure out which CMs tell me what. You may think someone despises me...but it's the occasional comments on "passes by" in chambers or the hallways that provide the "heat" and push me in the right direction.
OR SOMETIMES, someone from someone's office may have someone tell me something, or direct me to an item to check out.

Well, zd, seems clear that the ones who "hold their noses" to use you to "attack their opponents" are the ones who have no character and are totally two-faced, would sell their best friends to get their way. We already know Zine and Janice Hahn badmouth their opponents in public, and they're on your team of advisors. You used to like Rosendahl until the stuff at Venice Beach, when you saw that him seeming so "nice" and returning your calls doesn't mean he always caves to doing the easiest thing to be liked. Some who reject you, like Jan Perry, aren't any brighter or more knowledgeable than LaBonge, just sense not to trust you.
We can count on you for one thing -- to ferret out those with no character, class or trust value, and who themselves are probably pretty blunt, crude and oblivious to wasting time when they talk on and on for their personal ego. Janice is the top one there, but we can guess the others. Me, I'd rather someone be consistent and unafraid to not always be popular.
