Alarcon for CD2? We were just kidding!
Last year when it was announced that Second Council District Member Wendy Greuel was planning to run for City Controller in 2009 we began to speculate on should Greuel be successful and step down from her Council seat, who would run to replace her. In addition to the usual suspect - School Board Member Tamar Galatzan who began running for the seat before she was even elected to the Board - we playfully tossed around a few names including our own Joe Barrett, nerdy blogger Zach Behrens and then recently elected Seventh Council District Member Richard Alarcon. To the latter we of course intoned, "just kidding."
But maybe not. Zuma Dogg is reporting on a wild rumour around City Hall that Red Spot's favorite ZORRO MARXIST is indeed considering a move that would put in CD2 and a run for the spot after Greuel steps down. According to Zuma Dogg Alarcon's view is that he could be succesful in getting elected to the District seat which has a significant population though not a majority of Hispanic voters. Presumedly Alarcon's view is that he has enough crossover appeal that would not necessarily be the case for other Latinos considering running. Were Alarcon to be elected in CD2, his 7th District seat - with a far larger Latino population - would go to another Hispanic and hence increase the number of Latinos on the Council.
When will the ethnic, racist politics come to end? I would hope the day would come when a Jew would be elected CD14 Council Member beacuse they love their community and they are the most qualified person or perhaps a Latino would be elected in CD5 for the same reasons or an African American in District 12, etc., etc., etc.
When this nonsense ends, we'll have a better City. Let's hope Alarcon gives up his silly plan or at least gets his ass kicked at the polls.

Mayor Sam you got that right a Jew in CD14 would be the best thing for the residents. Let's face it the Latino politicans in CD14 have done nothing for their community and they campaigned saying "we're Latino." The city's
1st Latino Mayor has the biggest budget deficit in the history of the city and LA has become the joke of the nation because of its sanctuary to illegals. Goes to show that race MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING if you don't know what the hell you're doing and none of our electeds know what to do.

MS - Can you please RESEARCH an answer for the following question, instead of relying on anonymous poster:
If Alarcon runs for CD 2, does he get to run for three full terms? or do the terms he's ALREADY served count as part of his term limitations.
I think this is pretty darn important. I'd like to know if Alarcon could get three full terms if he simply moves to a different district.
Let's not forget how tricky Alarcon can be. He tried to redistrict HIS FIANCE'S LAND WITHOUT DISCLOSING IT, AND WAS CAUGHT WITH HIS HAND IN THE COOKIE JAR.
That's why I'm suspicious about his doing this. I'm not saying he's inherently bad, but I am suspicious.
The "logic" of leaving his seat open for a shoe-in 5th Hispanic (6th if you count Garcetti, which they do when it mutually suits them) is very like Alarcon and the Reconquista clique -- would allow Reyes to more easily move his masses into Sec. 8 Housing in the heart of Holmby Hills and Hollywood Hills.
Remember, Alarcon tried to annex a good chunk of CD2 when he got married recently -- so that he could swallow up his new wife's house and surrounding area, for more favorable zoning for a high- density unit they wanted to put in.
This scam was scuttled only when David Z got hold of the story. Several hundreds souls and dozens of homes almost ended up in TJ East.
Would Alarcon have cross-over appeal? Maybe, since he's been lobbying as "the biggest supporter of NC's on the CC." with imbecile Janice Hahn promoting him thus at meetings, and supporting anything infused with liberal-guilt. From what I've seen of some NC Boards on CD2, they're pretty clueless about what the Mexican Mafia is about; one silly Lisa S. keeps begging to add a third person to PLUM, anyone from the near Valley -- which would be Alarcon or Cardenas. Dummy.
Speaking of NC's, Rosendahl wanted to know today if NC's could gain the right to sue, to encourage more HOA's to convert. Another dummy.
"The Council is Awaiting a Quorum"
Mr. President Garcetti, I realize that everyone is human, I can see two councilmembers running late or possibly three, but SIX Councilmembers, Rosendahl, Cardenas, Perry, Reyes, Smith and Weiss, is too many. An additional councilmember excused to arrive at 11:00 a.m. The city business started at 10:17 a.m., as Councilmember Cardenas finally showed up.
Please take into consideration that constituents take time off from their busy schedule to be at chambers to address City Council and this should not be taken lightly.
Suggestions: remind all councilmembers these meeting are always on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays which start promptly at 10:00 a.m. Initiate an ordinance which mandates council president to grant excuses for two councilmembers each day while meetings are in session or mandate that additional individual council business be conducted on Mondays and Thursdays when there are no council meetings or after meetings are over. Today's meeting over at 11:40 a.m. This will avoid not having a quorum and an open window in the event a councilmember(s) become ill and can’t make it to work.
In addition, I would like to commend President Garcettii, Councilmember Greuel, Hahn and Huizar for being there on time.

I am a big supporter of Richard Alarcon and I agree that wealthy people should be taxed to help subsidize the lower economic communities because it is the wealthy who create these poverty conditions. So why shouldn't they pay to help fix the problem.
There is always going to be rich and poor. And the rich should help pay for the poor because it isn't the poor peoples fault that they are poor. Too many people are denied the right to work for a middle class wage. Society has created the problem so it is up to them to fix it.
So thank goodness for people like Richard Alarcon.
AlarCON in CD 2?

Back in the days of Big John Ferraro he would have the Sgt. at Arms roust them from their offices.
Even John Ferraro grew frustrated at the inability of Council members to show up on time.
Step one is to get the City Clerk to return to keeping track of who shows up at all. The only way to do that now is to research each of the City Council Journals.
Step two is to pressure each councilmember at public meetings to commit to changing the Council rules to keep track of who is late for work and who leaves early.
Third is to change the rules so that the late comers and those who leave early have to include in the public record, the reason why.
Many times it's for meetings with political supporters and for press ops.
In many cases, it's just laziness.

When John Ferraro was Council President he had four phones behind the lectern. Each was a dedicated line to somewhere.
One was to his wife.
One was to his broker.
One was to his mistress.
And the last one was to the Sergeant at Arms, Herman, to order him to gather up the tardy Councilmen.
Usually it was Nate Holden who was always late.
With half of them, they'd do us a favor if they didn't show up at Council meetings.
Reyes, Alarcon on any day. Rosendahl and Hahn most days. Ditto Jan Perry, Cardenas and Huizar. Sometimes the rest.

This is one of the silliest idea I've ever heard. Alarcon isn't running for CD2. And no matter where someone runs, they only get three full terms - it doesn't start over if they move somewhere else. Do your homework before posting stupid things like this. (Don't you suppose other electeds would have already moved and tried to run in another district if they had that chance?)
