2014 Predictions Recap

Every year I throw up a fresh batch of LA political predictions and every year almost none of them come to pass. Of course, most of them are silly. Let's see how we fared with 2014's prognostications.

Mayor Eric Garcetti's Chief of Staff, Ana Guerrero, will continue to earn electability chops in Jose Huizar's Council District, much to the chagrin of the incumbent and his supporters. Following her appearance in the Boyle Heights Christmas Parade - which included distributions from an 18 wheeler filled with toys and goodies - Guerrero will stage a special production of Ana Lloyd Weber's "Evita" where she will give a stunning performance of "Don't Cry for Me CD Catorce," at the bandstand at Olvera Street, followed up by Target gift cards raining from the sky.

Guerrero opted out of the CD14 race, only to be followed by East LA political heavyweight, Gloria Molina, fresh off the LA County Supes as the "Great Boo Boo Hope" to unseat scalwag incumbent, Jose "Charro" Huizar. However, reports say Guerrero did do some twerking at the Jay-Z "Made in America" concert at Grand Park.

Much to the chagrin of Blogger Scott Johnson and the community around the Arroyo Seco, the former site of the Southwest Museum will be rededicated as "Villaraigosa University," with a special degree program in broadcast journalism taught by the ex-Mayor.

Fortunately, this did not happen. However, just a week ago, a survey was released that shows that 91% of the local community want the facility to return to being a museum. That could very well give a boost to those who have battled the Autry Museum for years over the fate of the site.

Following a special election in the summer of 2014, LA Fire Commissioner and former teacher Jimmie Woods-Gray will pull out a surprise win in the race to replace the late Marguerite LaMotte. Woods-Gray's victory, will deal a severe blow to LA's charter school movement.

Woods-Gray opted not to run, however the eventual winner was George McKenna, who is seen as a teachers' union leaning candidate, and no fan of charter schools.

Blogger/Writer Joseph Mailander will sign a deal for the movie version of his non-fiction book "Days Change at Night: LA's Decade of Decline." Esai Morales will be signed to play Mayor Villaraigosa and the film will feature a cameo by Randy Quaid as blogger Scott "Red Spot" Johnson.

Ok, this was for fun but Mailander did add new publications he is penning for ranging from Forbes to an upstart newser in Sunland-Tujunga, The Foothill Record.  And he did follow up Days Change at Night: LA's Decade of Decline" with "LA at Intermission: A City Mingling Towards Identity." Mailander continues to keep an entrenched, grifting LA power structure looking over their shoulder with profound Facebook posts, blog entries, periodical articles with a new book always on the horizon. And those who yell the loudest appear to be the griftiest odd-jobbers of all.

The storied Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council, which spent it's salad days with wins such as blocking a controversial Home Depot store, but in recent years has found itself the subject of questions on finances and it's policies on the homeless issue, will find it's incumbent members facing an electoral challenge in the spring from a coalition assembled by controversial local newspaper publisher David "Doc" DeMulle. The uprising will fail when all realize that Joseph Mailander was right when he said that the community is "18 people arguing with 17 people over 14 microphones and 60,000 that don't care." (Turns out the finals of Dancing With the Stars featuring Chaz Bono and Kim Kardashian is on TV the same night as the elections.)

Ok short of whatever was on reality TV this DID happen, DeMulle did mount a slate that was not successful, however that didn't stop things from falling apart. Despite it's electoral victory, Sunland-Tujunga's establishment went ahead and wounded itself when a handful of brawls and restraining orders broke up the old gang. The STNC panel itself became less and less relevant, though a handful of individual members proved their mettle going rogue on various issues and an organic, targeted group of activists are now fighting ovedevelopment, homeless dumping and other issues. The anger generated locally at the city's power structure distilled into a significant number of votes for Patty Lopez, who won a surprise victory over incumbent Raul Bocanegra.

Former City Controller and failed Mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel will jump into the race to succeed termed out LA County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky. Once again Greuel will use "Political Consultant/Private Citizen" John Shallman to helm her campaign and once again will lose, this time to former State Senator Sheila James Kuehl, "The Child Star Formerly Referred to as Zelda."

We got this half and half right. La Wendy jumped instead into the race to succeed retiring Congressman Henry Waxman, but did indeed lose badly in the primary. In the County Supe race, Zelda did indeed emerge victorious.

California Republican candidates for the State Assembly will pick up some unexpected wins in various races around the state, it won't be enough to assume control of the lower chamber, but it will take away the Democrats current veto-proof majority, leading to several deals between Republican legislators and Governor Jerry Brown, who will be by the way, re-elected handily.

Complete score here. While the raw numbers are not something one would generally celebrate, Republicans can take comfort in having picked up enough seats in the State Senate and State Assembly to deny Democrats their super majority and make things a little harder for them in raising taxes and increasing spending.

Former radio talk show host and Mayoral candidate and current President of the Board of Public Works, Kevin James, will announce he is leaving the Republican party and register as "Decline to State." James will then announce his candidacy for the Council District 4 seat being vacated by Tom LaBonge.

As far as we know, James has not changed his voter registration, the former conservative darling and once hero to Neighborhood Council types is now backing much of the tax and spend policies he once railed against on-air. James did not opt to enter any City Council races, but he gets to do neat things like install astroturf at soccer fields. The symbolism of such is not lost on this old, dead Republican Mayor.

County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas will announce that he has brokered a deal for an existing NFL football team to move to the LA Coliseum with the 2017-18 season, but the deal will fall apart at the last minute. An expansion team for Los Angeles will eventually be located in a yet to be built stadium outside the city limits.

No such football luck for Mark Ridley-Thomas, indeed the NFL recently announced LA will go at least one more year without football. However, Ridley-Thomas did manage broker for himself a county funded mancave.

And finally, on the steps of the State Capitol, just after Thanksgiving, Governor Jerry Brown will announce his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President in 2016.

No announcement yet from Governor Brown, but many are urging Jerry or some other progressive Democrat to run and challenge Hillary Clinton. Stay tuned, anything can happen and it always gets weird somewhere.

A Christmas Eve Facade of a Politico Tonto Family Man brought to you (again) by Parke Skelton

On this eve before Christmas, the Political Consultant known simple as "Parke" (or Parque E.), again crafts the Façade of a noted Tonto, posing as a Family Man, in seeking to sway CD 14 Voters.
Is Parke getting too predictable in seeking to consult a Façade that recasts noted Politico Tontos, into loyal Family Men?
** Blogger's Note: Its nice to note on this day before Christmas, there is someone who cares that the blessed spirit of the holidays, is shared with everyone ........., especially register voters. Pardon the momentary feel of Political Deja Vu, but most longtime political observers in CD 14 will agree, that former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar's Political Consultant Parke Skelton, is again using the Holiday Season, to choreograph a political façade of a documented, philandering Tonto, as a rehabilitated Family Man. Its been easy to discern that since former LA County Supervisor Gloria Molina announced that she would challenge the Third Term-seeking, self-noting Princeton Graduate, the husband and wife duo (both barristers by trade) suddenly became more out-going again as a couple. Those with a Pollyanna-like mindset, would find it easy to surmise that with former Deputy Chief of Staff (and alleged "Other Woman") Francine Godoy, settled away with a new job in the Bureau of Sanitation, that contrition, along with renew vows of fidelity, were paramount in priority for the embattled Clowncilman, but then again, its reelection time. Unlike the former Corina Villaraigosa, Richelle Rios Huizar is more engage in furthering her swaying husband's political ambitions, allegedly, going as far as seeking help from the "Tonto Huevon's" Political Papi, former Failure Mayor Antonio Villar, in orchestrating the transfer of Godoy into her current position. Thus like in 2003, CD 14 voter will again be faced with a Skelton-crafted Campaign Façade of promoting a documented, Philandering Tonto, as someone (with including enabling wife) that can be entrusted with a Third Term ......., but will CD 14 voters fall for the false façade again, only to revisit the same type of behavior after the elections?----Scott Johnson in CD 14.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

As the CD 6 Rematch between Nury Martinez and Cindy Montanez shifts into gear, the Montanez Campaign is touting its high number of signatures that qualified her for the March 2015 Elections.
Cindy Montanez is all smiles regarding her signature total.
This is going to be a battle.
As we enter the Christmas/New Years lull before the 2015 Election Campaigns kick into gear, the Cindy Montanez Campaign is touting its qualifying ballot signature totals as noted on its Facebook Page ........., We officially qualified to be on the March 3, 2015 LA City Council ballot! Thank you and Gracias to the over 1,600 residents who signed our petition to qualify. The spirit of my family and my neighbors in the San Fernando Valley is so uplifting...I would be honored to be your Councilwoman.
Memo to the Martinez-Guzman Campaign, you cannot blow smoke in attempting to play down these numbers, for they are a warning signal of dire political fortunes ahead.
** According to this week's edition of Daily News Rick Orlov's "Tipoff Column", "The Bocanegra Davidians" have initiated a "whispering campaign" against new 39 Assembly District Officeholder Patty Lopez. This as the former Assemblyman plans his next political move by opening a 2016 Bocanegra for Assembly Fundraising Account.
** What do you call a Third Term-seeking Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee Member who last week, garnered the Endorsement of both the Los Angeles County Labor Federation and the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce? Lets try an Enabling Tonto Huevon. We should note that the last person to achieve the dual Endorsement of Business and Labor was a certain "Boss D'Arcy Rizzo Call Greuel".
** The following is CD 1 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Gil "Broken Deal Cedillo's" defiant comments directed at a certain "1% Group of Bullys".

Memo to "Broken Deal Cedillo", there are a lot OF "One Percent Plus" segments of your district that soon may add up to a protesting majority.

Images from Gloria Molina CD 14 Campaign Office Holiday Season Open House in Eagle Rock

Great turnout Sunday afternoon for the Gloria Molina Campaign Office Holiday Season Open House in Eagle Rock.
Welcome to Gloria Molina's Eagle Rock Campaign Office.
** Blogger's note: What were the initial impressions from Sunday's afternoon Gloria Molina for CD 14 Holiday Season Campaign Office Open House? The Gloria Molina Political Brand transcends generations of supporters, both old and young. While today's Open House saw many of Molina longtime supporters in attendance, what stood out was the high number of youthful supporters, who worked the room with donation envelopes. The Molina Campaign is keen on reaping the advantages in matching funds by aggressively seeking the small donations from district voters and judging from the efforts of her team, they did quite well in collecting needed campaign contributions. Molina took time to address the assembled crowd and introduce her campaign team. Lead Consultant is longtime Altadena-based Fred Register, Campaign Treasurer/Manager is Jon Fuhrman, Field Director will be Sue Burnside and spearheading the day to day operations is Danielle Zapata. (**BTW, Mayor Sam has learned that Method's Campaign's Brian Van Riper will be running Councilman Huizar's Field Operations, with former CD 14 Staffer Jesse Leon, managing the Campaign, via Consulting from "Parque")---Scott Johnson.

Services this Evening for Longtime Lincoln Heights Business Owner (and Beloved Mother) Norma Olivo

Beloved Longtime Lincoln Heights Community Business Owner (Sloan's Cleaners on Broadway at Sichel) Norma Olivo Passes Away
Norma Olivo standing outside of Sloan's Cleaners on Sichel Street in Lincoln Heights.
** Blogger's Note: Its with profound sorrow that I join many in the Lincoln Heights Community in mourning the unexpected passing of longtime Sloan's Cleaners Owner Norma Olivo. Olivo passed away Sunday at home in the company of family members. Sloan's Cleaners on the corner of Broadway and Sichel has been a Lincoln Heights Business Institution for decades as many entered its doors with wrinkled wear and smiled on the way out with cleaned, press clothing, while happily engaging in pleasant platitudes with Norma. The care that Olivo took in making her business a community success, was also extended to the surrounding community as she and her older daughter Erika Gallo, took the lead in gathering petitions to successfully place a Stop Light at the Broadway and Sichel Intersection after serveral pedestrians were hit in attempting to cross the busy Broadway thoroughfare. Services for Norma Olivo are schedule for ............,
Rosary
Friday, 12/19 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass...
Saturday, 12/20 10:30 a.m.
both at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church
2210 Sichel Street
Los Angeles, CA 90031
Our thoughts are with daughters, former LincolnHeights Neighborhood Council Vice-President Erika Gallo, Leslie Skellington and the Olivo Family, during this time of profound loss---Scott Johnson.

Candles placed by an unidentified party, in tribute to the longtime owner of Sloan's Cleaners.
Tribute to the Loving Mother of Leslie Skellington and Erika Gallo.

The Insane Development of Big Tujunga Canyon

Big Tujunga Today
The continuing insanity of over-densifying Los Angeles has now come to the rural northern hamlet of Sunland-Tujunga.

Plans are afoot to build a major development of nearly 250 luxury homes smack dab in the middle of Big Tujunga Canyon, near what has been used as space for baseball fields and archery ranges. And the rest of it, just good old fashioned open space.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the Big Tujunga Wash is a major tributary of the Los Angeles River which links the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacific Ocean offering residents of the Los Angeles area a link to a natural environment. The Place's wooden riparian area serves as an important wildlife corridor, as well as a habitat for sensitive animal species.

But the powers that be want a Santa Clarita style mini city. All in a location at the base of Foothills with only a two lane road in and out.

Can you say "Stop the Insanity?" More to come.

For More Information: Check Out Save Big Tujunga Canyon's Facebook Page.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Monday

As CD 1 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Gil "Broken Deal Cedillo" continues to ignore constituents, a just release Fiscal Report from the Office of the City Clerk documents "Broken Deal Cedillo" granting infamous Immigration Rights Activist, now Convicted Felon Larry "Nativo" Lopez's Organization another $5,000 in Public Funds.
CD 1 City Clowncilman "Broken Deal Cedillo" ignores Cypress Park Stakeholders .......,
........., while granting Convicted Felon Larry "Nativo" Lopez's "Citizen in Action Community Development Organization" another $5,000 and denying funding for the likes of the cancelled Lincoln Park Fireworks Show.
$15,000 dollars and counting.
As activists from MacArthur Park to Cypress Pass continue to vent their respective displeasure at the lack of follow through from second year CD 1 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Gil "Broken Deal Cedillo" ......., a Convicted Felon continues to benefit from the Fiscal Largess of his "Immigrant Rights Brother".
The just completed 2014 General City Purposes Fund Allocation Report for CD 1, discloses that infamous Illegal Alien Supporter and Convict Felon for Voter Fraud, Larry "Nativo" Lopez's Orange County-based "Citizen in Action Community Development Organization", was granted the top amount of $5,000, that was also given to the Hollenbeck Youth Center in CD-14.
Mayor Sam had previously reported that the former "One Bill Gil", now disparaged as "Broken Deal Cedillo" by many, gave the mentally-challenged, Convict Felon Nativo, $10,000 from his Officeholder Account in the Second Quarter of 2014.
Surely, the latest disclosure of "Broken Deal Cedillo" granting Public Funds to a Convicted Felon such as Nativo, is bound to raise the ire of those who's request for funding (for example, the cancelled Lincoln Park Fireworks Show), was denied in favor of a Orange County Organization with tax and ethical issues.
** Who did the NFL reach out to when searching for help in revamping its Disciplinary Policies? Hint, a former Chief of Police and soon to be termed-out CD 8 City Councilman, with vast experience on the issue.
CD 8 City Councilman Bernard Parks.
“They were interested in my experience at the LAPD and how we handled discipline,” Parks said. “In many ways, there are a lot of similarities between an NFL player and a police officer.
“Both have to deal with a lot of emotion on the job, but the question is, How do they cope with that when they are off the field or when they go home?
“How do you cope with those emotions once the game is over or you are done with your shift? There are a lot of parallels.”

** As yesterday's absolute deadline for potential City Council and School Board Candidate's  qualifying signatures, is now history, two notable activists are in limbo regarding their respective efforts to qualify for the March 2015 Ballot. In CD 2, David Hernandez still has not been certified. Meanwhile in CD 14, the big surprise is longtime Progressive Activist Carlos Montes, who's total of submitted signatures, was deemed insufficient for inclusion.
  A Fundraiser for naught?

Its Time to Light Up the 2014 Huizar Christmas Tree (** and disclose the 2013-2014 Fiscal Year Gifts to CD 14 Organizations)!

With the 2015 CD-14 March Elections four months away, its time to disclose the "2013-2014 Fiscal Year Joys of Giving Report (or vote buying?)" by Clowncilman Jose Huizar to various Community-based Organizations (CBOs), in the Mexico PRI-styled quest to drive up his vote base.
The quest for reelection always brings out the best in Clowncilman Huizar's (and connected friends) sponsored Holiday Events.
This year's El Sereno Huizzynista Christmas Tree is brought to you by noted Clowncilman Huizar supporter Joe Cano.
**Blogger's Report: Great Saturday morning to everyone as we near the start of another CD 14 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose "The Tonto Huevon" Huizar "Reelection Holiday Season Special Event" this afternoon in El Sereno. With the self-noting Princeton Graduate seeking a third and final term as the Purveyor of Favors for the Downtown LA Special Interests, whoops, meant representative of Clowncil District 14, the Incumbent's noted cycle of pre-election attentiveness (mixed with the dispensing of spoils to voter-rich CBOs), is again, all too apparent to the discerning political observer. In 2015, with a formidable reelection challenge coming from termed-out LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina, the embattled "Tonto Huevon" is falling back on the documented Mexico PRI-tactics of using the material resources of the office to buy key voter blocks, in the diverse areas within his district, as evident in the 2014 General Purposes Fund Report obtain from the City Clerk's Office (** The entire eight page report is posted below). From Eagle Rock, where numerous community group (with high propensity voters) received fiscal allocations, to targeted groups in El Sereno (the Bicentennial Committee and Stallions Pop Warner Program) and  Boyle Heights (the "Connected Non-Profit Enclave" within CD 14), the "Spirit of Giving (in return for votes), has been shifted into high gear (with ethical concerns a mere afterthought) ** BTW, what does challenger Gloria Molina think of buying off organizations, or paying for campaign hired guns? From the Downtown News ........, Molina will get plenty of opportunity to make her case in the next four months. She expects to attend numerous neighborhood coffee sessions. She hopes to have precinct walkers, but says she wants them to be unpaid volunteers, not hired guns. After all, it should not be about what your "buy point" is, but whether the Incumbent is worthy of another term, based upon factual achievements of distinction---Scott Johnson.
Page 1 of 2014 CD 14 General City Purposes Fund Report. ** Note the $20,000 allocation to now Huizar Staffer Genny "Godoy" Guerrero's El Sereno Bicentennial Committee (most likely to cover 2014 parade cost and "other expenses"?). Plus, the Boyle Heights Wolfpack get their annual allocation of Huizar "support me affection".

LAPD Hollenbeck's Crime Stats trumps CD 14 Political Support regaiding Big Saver Market ABC LIcense Requested Upgrade

We bring you another "Do as I Say, Don't Do as I Get Contributions for Enabling Moment" from CD 14 City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose "The Tonto Huevon" Huizar as his support for a ABC Liquor Upgrade for the El Sereno's Big Saver Market, runs into a Stonewall of startling LAPD Crime Stats.
No previous pronouncement from "The Tonto Huevon", can withstand the need of enabling favors, in return for campaign support.

We hope sincerely that the following statement was not merely a shallow "Coca Puff" via Clowncilman Huizar Longtime Communications Director Rick Coca, from the July 31, 2014 Edition of the Eastern Group Publications (EGP) ........., “Our objective is to limit and decrease the number of (alcohol) licenses” in Hollenbeck.

Fuentes Shepherds $15 Million Bond to Affordable Housing Developer

Samoa Street: Site of Coming 48 Unit Apartment Complex

You won't read about it in the papers very likely, but $15 million of taxpayer money is being directed towards a controversial housing development in Sunland-Tujunga, rammed through the City Council while most of the citizenry is gearing up for the holidays.

Councilman Felipe Fuentes backed affordable housing bond funds going to a 48 unit four bedroom apartment complex on a narrow hillside road in Sunland-Tujunga, despite the protests of local residents and the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council.

Developers, in a letter to the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council and the Sunland Tujunga Alliance stated that without the public funds, their project would not pencil out.

In addition to the impact the property would have on strained local infrastructure, safety issues with regard to parking and the ability of fire personnel to reach the property, residents objected to how a required bond hearing was not held, in lieu of the City Council discussing the matter. Many have noted that the Council is likely in violation of the law here.

The next step will be a state panel issuing the final approval for the bonds; however many residents feel that will simply be a rubber stamp of the Council's rubber stamp.

Let us hope that this is a wake-up call to the community that the game has changed, that developers and the City Council see Sunland-Tujunga as a prime area to concentrate affordable housing and that one can not fairly expect the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council and it's Land Use Committee to shoulder the burden of this fight. Individuals will need to get involved, dollars may need to be raised to hire attorneys and cover other expenses of the fight and perhaps, a suitable replacement for Mr. Fuentes for the 2017 election needs to be identified, groomed and supported now.

Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

As Federal Arson Investigators team up with their LAFD Counterparts to find the cause of Sunday night's massive blaze at Downtown Developer (and past Councilman Huizar Campaign Donor) Geoffrey Palmer's DaVinci Apartment Complex, we highlight the contrasting responses from CD 14 City Clowncilman Jose Huizar, to the DeVinci Fire and the recent Firebombings targeting African-American Families in Ramona Gardens.
The massive DaVinci Fire  from north of Downtown LA.
LAFD Firefights at the scene of one of the Ramona Gardens Firebombings targeting African-American Families.
Will call this the tales of CD 14 City Clowncilman Jose Huizar's responses to two, high-profile fires within his Council District.
First, on the day after the massive, suspicious fire at noted Developer Geoffrey Palmer's controversial DaVinci Apartment Development, the Downtown LA Representative to the Los Angeles City Clowncil Central Committee meets with the media, insinuating possible homeless population connection to the blaze and imploring those with information , to contact authorities.
But most discerning political observers will remember Clowncilman Huizar's controversial role in getting approval for an exclusive DaVinci Tenants Bridge that would connect the fortress-like, insular portions of the complex above street level ........., and away from the homeless population that Clowncilman Huizar insinuated, could of played a role in the fire.

From Clowncilman Huizar's Facebook Page.
Second, on the day after the Firebombings in Ramona Gardens that targeted African-American Families, what was the response from the self-noting Princeton Graduate?
Crickets!!
.........., did Clowncilman Huizar have a statement a week later?
Crickets!!
For the record, it was on June 18, 2014 that Clowncilman Huizar could be attributed in broaching that the Firebombings in Ramona Gardens were "despicable" as he stood before the cameras announcing a $100,000 total Reward for information on the crimes ........., and why the month delay in commenting on a possible Hate Crime? As we noted on May 18, 2014, the Princeton Graduate was tending to other "business".
** If anyone was pondering why CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar has been quiet regarding the Ramona Gardens Fire-bombings, it may have to do with the fact that the Princeton Graduate is more concern about helping Downtown LA Developers build bridges over homeless encampments.
.........., with contribution to Reelection Fund pending.

Which Way will Clowncilman Huizar Sway regarding requested Upgrading of ABC License for El Sereno's Big Saver Market?

As Clowncilman Huizar touts his Clean Communities Initiative as a reason for reelection, discerning constituents await his "Next Moment of Leadership" regarding the requested ABC Alcohol License Upgrade for the Big Saver Market in El Sereno.
Is it too early to congratulate the Princeton Graduate for standing by his 2011 comment that he only supports Hard Liquor Licenses for "Sit Down Restaurants". Thus opposing the requested ABC License Upgrade for the El Sereno Big Saver Market?
** Blogger's Note: In 72 hours, CD 14 constituents/voters will get an opportunity to ascertain whether City Clowncil Central Committee Member Jose "Tonto Huevon" Huizar's "Clean Communities Initiative", includes the rejection of a requested ABC License Upgrade for the El Sereno Big Saver Market on Huntington, Drive. During his 2011 Reelection Campaign, the Princeton Tonto Huevon Graduate stated that he was generally in opposition to new Hard Liquor Licenses, unless the were full a "Sit Down Restaurant". But one could also extrapolate from past campaign contribution documentation, that exceptions took place. In the case of the El Sereno Big Saver Market, the owner has made a significant capital investment in remodeling the property, which includes its request for the ABC License Upgrade. But according to ABC documents, the El Sereno Big Saver has been cited multiple times recently for selling either beer or wine to minors. Further, the market is near a church/rehab center and school. Yet, there are those who support the upgrade due to the market's owner long time support of community events, such as the El Sereno Bicentennial Parade and of course, a certain Princeton Graduate---Scott Johnson.

Current LAPD Captain Martin Baeza and staff, are to be commended for lowering the amount of liquor licenses within the Hollenbeck Patrol Area in recent times. Yet, community members are awaiting his formal recommendation regarding the requested ABC License Upgrade for the Big Saver Market.
We should note that Captain Baeza's Hollenbeck CPAB Co-chair and Clowncilman Huizar Loyaltist Mago Amador, has in the past, worked with "Connected Non-Profit Legecy LA", who supported ABC License Requests for the likes of 7-Eleven, as evident on the attached video.
