Morning Briefs on the Los Angeles Political Machine for Tuesday

Its never to early to start speculating on those who would like to succeed CD 14 City Councilman Jose Huizar in 2020 (or earlier).
Former East Los Angeles Community Corp (ELACC) President, now LA County Board of Supervisor Hilda Solis Chief of Staff Maria Cabildo ......, with an Indicted Politico.
The Power of Political Ambition.
Only in Council District 14, can we start speculating on who will replace the "Dear Charro, Princeton Graduate", even before he is sworn in for his last "Downtown Bought", extended last term.
One person who is already garnering attention is former ELACC President and noted anti-gentrification figure Maria Cabildo, who recently was named Chief of Staff to new LA County Board of Supervisor Hilda Solis.
Cabildo, who resides in Eagle Rock, was an ardent Councilman Huizar supporter during the last election proceedings and with the self-noting Princeton Graduate, now secure in a final term, the career change for Cabildo, is being seen as a political resume enhancer for a possible 2020 CD 14 Campaign.
** Its been awhile since Southwest Voter Education Voter Registration Project's Antonio Gonzalez merited bloggin interest. In the early days of this blog, the voting registration exploits of the husband of ex LA County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina's Chief of Staff Alma Martinez, were all the rage among the supporters of then Mayor James "Poopy" Hahn. Now in 2015, Gonzalez is reaching back into his voter outreach bag of tricks, by offering a $25,000 Prize to a lucky LAUSD District Five voter, in an attempt to foster higher Election Day turnout ........, for Charter Schools-supported candidate Ref Rodriguez.
** When was the last time we checked in on the cyber astro-turf outpost of the political fanatics known as "Gatto Truthers"? With the "Infant Assemblyman", turned "Slobo Mikey", busy mulling over his pending 2016 State Senate Campaign defeat, by planning a possible 2018 Lt. Governor quest, his devoted cyber trolls found time to opine on the recent CD 4 Elections, which we are so glad to share .........., The big surprise in CD 4 was the showing of Steve Veres who many local Dems including these humble bloggers were pulling for since he got the Democratic Party endorsement with an impressive showing and lots of grassroots support.  Veres underperformed and we are not sure why since he had strong support from Senate Speaker Kevin Deleon; maybe he did not have the right validators in other parts of the district but of course that is just conjecture

Background on CD 14 Officeholder Account Report
CD 14 Deputy Chief of Staff Francine Godoy (second from right) at a recent Ed Headington for Assembly Fundraiser.

For those inquisitive CD 14 political observers who were speculating why Deputy Chief of Staff Francine Godoy did not assume the top staff position upon the departure of now CD 9 City Council Candidate Ana Cubas, take some time to review the latest quarterly officeholder account report.
Judging from the report, Godoy has "other duties" beside those that earn her a six-figure salary at City Hall.
Noting from the latest report, Councilman Huizar continues his love for dining out with employees and those in position of power. Matter of fact, the Boyle Heights Princeton Graduate enjoyed eating out so much in the last quarter (the most of any councilman) that the details pertaining to who dined on the contributions of donors, was omitted from the majority of disclosures.
But considering that Godoy was reimbursed $1939.49 for "office related expenses", in addition to hundreds more for other meetings, then it becomes clear why Godoy had no time for assuming new duties.

Cedillo announces for CD 1

Assemblyman Gil Cedillo dreaming of an enriching future at City Hall.
Assemblyman Gilberto "One Bill" (and a Dream Act) Cedillo made official what many had predicted for months, with his announcement that he is a candidate to replace CD 1 City Councilman Ed Reyes.
The LA Times reported that Cedillo said he decided to run "because we need bold and experienced leadership to strengthen and protect the Los Angeles dream."
Hmmmm, excuse me Gill but there is no more dream to protect. Plus, you may have nightmares if County Board of Supervisor Gloria Molina jumps into the race as speculated here previously.

No Hotsheet Today

It's a great summer Friday and YOU should be out at the beach and not sitting on your computer posting rude comments about Phil Jennerjahn or JoeB. Get out! Get a life! Have a ball!

Huizar better be scared. This is no wacko!

Pre-Dawn Missives for Thursday

***Special Order 40 lives on to "protect" a growing
underclass of people in the City of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu, granting a motion from the city and the American Civil Liberties Union, said Harold Sturgeon failed to prove that "Special Order 40" was in conflict with federal and state laws that dictate the flow of information between local and federal agencies regarding people's immigration status. as excerpted from the Los Angeles Times. No shortage of comments on this issue for sure.
***BREAKING NEWS!! Supreme Court strikes down Washington D.C. Handgun Ban. Big Victory for Pro Gun Advocates.***
***What is it about Charter Schools who's name start with the word Academia?? We all know about the antics and teaching at Academia Semillas del Pueblo. But now Highland Park based Academia Avance is in the news for serious issues which caused pause in their Charter Renewal. And in both cases who was their most outspoken supporter on the LAUSD Board of Education?? "Big hint", Rosie O'Donnell, enough said.

***Memo to Councilman Dennis Zine, KFI 640 AM reporter Eric Leonard has audio of certain staffers based on the "third Floor" who are heard laughing at comments by "April Ass Clown Award Winner" Chief Bill Bratton that regarded your efforts to revise Special Order 40. (Link to KFI's John and Ken Show during 3:00 hour.)
***City Beat has earned the moniker of "City Weak"

***Call this a "Bloggin Pile On", DWP General Manager H. David Nahai in his brief reign as the "Shah of Water and Power" has quickly become the "Poster Boy" of what a Department Head should not be in the City of Los Angeles.

Arrogant, Self Center, Aloof and Politically Asute is not the way to endear yourself to the taypayers who pay your $300,000 + salary. So with thanks to "Westchester Parents" and Ron Kaye's Blog we join the party in exposing H. David Nahai as the "Shah of Water Waste" for Public Official in the City of Los Angeles.
****Read today's Daily News Editorial how they were used..and abused, by "Shah Nahai"****
But shouldn't Nahai be forgiven for generously opening his home and his water usage to the public - a commitment to model good conservationist behavior?
Certainly, if that were the whole story.
The story behind that story, in fact, shows more political calculation than chagrin. Nahai's offer to the Daily News was nothing more than a clever pre-emptive strike against another reporter he considered a bother. For weeks Nahai had resisted requests from independent journalist, blogger and all-around muckraker Alan Mittelstaedt to turn over his water bills.
It was a reasonable request. The man who was resurrecting the water police and
portraying himself as a conservationist ought to be willing to be an example.
Nahai was annoyed by the request and the persistence of this journalist, and knew he would have to give up his wasting ways sooner or later. So he used a tactic common to clever public figures: He took his story elsewhere. Hah. Take that nosy Nelson!

H. David Nahai (DWP General Manager) - 434,220(a staggering 310% times more than my household!!) That household being Ron Kaye's resident.
Rocky Delgadillo (City attorney) - 423,368 gallons
Mayor Villaraigosa - 386,716 gallons
Jack Weiss - 254,320 gallons
Bill Rosendahl - 230,384 gallons
Tony Cardenas - 219,912 gallons
Greig Smith - 219,164 gallons
Dennis Zine - 194,480 gallons
Wendy Gruel - 190,740 gallons
Jose Huizar - 142,120 gallons
Eric Garcetti - 88,264 gallons
Janice Hahn - 83,776 gallons
Bernard Parks - 35,156 gallons

Taxpayers need to give Alan Mittelstaedt thanks for taking on the "Shah of Water and Power" and exposing his hypocritical actions.
***LAPD, General Services, and Private Security will provide on-site security at the City of Los Angeles 109th Street Pool, located in the "No-Man's Land" between the Nickerson Gardens and Jordan Downs Housing Projects. This pool was the scene of a rampage last weekend where pool staff came under assualt.

***........and this from a source in CD 14. A official from CalTrans who oversees State owned properties in El Sereno, South Pasadena, and Pasadena, quickly departed a meeting when informed that an "certain person" was invited. Apparently threats has been made against this official by a person with interest in CalTrans properties.

Open Thread for Presidents' Day

I am sure some on the lunatic fringe of the radical right aren't surprised, but former President George H.W. Bush (aka Daddy Bush, Bush 41, etc.) has endorsed John McCain. The former President is absolutely right that the GOP - like it or not - must get behind McCain, that McCain's credentials are solid and even with his pro-illegal philosophy he's still a better choice than Barack or Shillary (who are also pro-illegal so what's the point?)

Lots of good stuff below with Zuma's report on more CD14 nonsense, alleged shady Laurette Healey campaign finance reports and more shenigans at LA's newest hotbed of alleged corruption and mismanagement, the DWP.

In other news, we're glad to hear that Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is doing well following hospitalization after falling in her home. She did not break her hip and should be sent home today.

Blog away dum dums.
