Liberals, Galtazan and Home Depot
If you're interested in the fate of liberalism, then the Valley Grassroots for Democracy Book Club has something right up your alley: a discussion with the guy who literally wrote the book on the subject; school board member Tamar Galatzan's chief of staff Tom Waldman, author of Not Much Left: The Fate of Liberalism in America.
If you attend the event - this Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the State Office Building you might want to ask Tom what liberals think of a school board member who has yet to speak out on the environmental impact of opening a Home Depot 500 feet from a public school and how his employer is allowing a private corporation to use a public school to shill for their business interest.
You may also want to ask Tom if Ms. Galatzan is consistent in her liberalism in keeping quiet on an issue that her husband - the VICA's Brendan Huffman - is shilling for.

Mayor Sam Galatzan is one of those phony liberals who drinks wine and likes to talk being liberal but is a sell out.

Isn't Galatzan the heir-apparent for CD2 when Greuel moves on? Well, let's have the Sunland-Tujunga community (working so feverishly for close to FOUR YEARS to get Home Depot to "follow the rules" of our specific plan, foothill corridor plan, and needs and wants of the community) start working on Galatzan to let her know our expectations. You want to be our rep then you better listen and act. I want to see some action, Ms. Galatzan!!!!! -- and that includes from your staff. Your husband and his work are irrelevant here.

I'm waiting for Jim Alger to blast Higby for blasting TAmar.

How about you guys ask him if Tamar will be able to raise the necessary funds to run an effective campaign for CD2...without the key people that gave the Board seat to her on a platter...
I say no.

Alger has no dog in this hunt. The CD2 community has an opportunity here to test a future candidate. Alger is in CD12. Or was this just your chance to slam Alger?! Lame shot, dude.

10:38, Crap -- "Galatzan" is THAT Galatzan!
This chick is completely gutless when her husband's issues are involved. Major conflicts of interest here...
She would be just about the worst CD 2 candidate we could have -- the one that everyone only *thinks* is liberal.
SH*T

The rumor is Alger wants to run for CD2.

Anyone better than Alarcon.
Rumor is, he's intent on nabbing it for another Latino, so he, Cardenas, Reyes and camp-follower Huizar can start to build a Council Majority and get passed some of their objectives, mainly, higher density in every community, through affordable housing schemes. Which would "take some of the energy" as Special Ed Reyes says, out of the barrios and into Sherman Oaks and West L A, but also, line their pockets. They had a setback when AB212/Fuentes was exposed in many sources, but they're forging on.
He lives just outside the boundaries of CD2 and could move, so Cindy Montanez could run for his seat -- as we know, she's been given 2 Government jobs by Nunez and the Eastside Machine, where she works 5 days/month for $280,000, not to challenge Alarcon or Fuentes last time. So she'd get her chance at political opportunism again, and they'd all get their extra Latino.
Look out, they're eying every district to further this goal.

Hasn't Montanez now moved to Studio City??? to be ready to run for CD2 when Greuel is elected Controller???

thats so 2006. get with it already.

What is the latest with Montanez contracts? Is she keeping both or does she as Marvin Gaye once sang "got to give it up"

Hey if you were living in a shit hole like Pacoima or San Fernando your whole life and all of sudden were making $250K a year wouldn't you move to Studio City?

Hey to the poster above. I was born and raised in Pasadena, for the last 10 years have lived in Tujunga and have friends over in Pacoima. Calling Pacoima a "shit hole" isn't a nice thing to say.

Since when did anybody think liberals were NOT sell-outs?
As for Galatzan and Waldman they should start returning their constituent phone messages! Conduct unbecoming...

Alarcon is already furtively living at his wife Flora's house on Sheldon St.in Shadow Hills which is in CD 2. (Probably tippy toeing back & forth from his council district home in Panorama City) He already wanted Wendy Greuel to re-draw the boundary so he could live there "legally" and she refused. Maybe he'll try for CD2, so he can legalize his residence or try to get a crony in CD2, so he can succeed in having the boundary re-drawn. CD 2 doesn't want him or his cronies.
