Lunchtime Music

Today a very special edition of Bedtime Music (a little late) featuring my dad - Jim Higby - with his latest tune, Roll Them Bones. It's a true story (you have to watch the video to learn what the story is about) and we present it here today in honor of my dad's birthday.

Happy Birthday Dad!

12:05 -- Self-appointed music critic.

For chrissakes, 12:05, let Michael honor his father on his birthday without any snide remarks from those such as you!

Michael, please forward my best wishes and congratulations to your father.

You guys can slam me all you want but don't mess with my dad.

You either like the song or you don't.

We know who you are anyway so don't make yourself look stupid.

It's good to see a happy guy enjoying his music. Whose Dad is that? Damn it's Michael's. What happened to Mike? I mean this guy's got looks, stage presence, and obviously is comfortable in his skin! Thanks for the tune.

1:52 you miserable puss I don't think anyone was invited to critique (as if any of us are qualified to do so) we were invited to watch or not watch.

I've actually seen Higby do some emceeing of events and he has an equally strong stage presence. Don't know if he can sing though.

2;00 needs to chill. It seems to my non-critical mind that 1:52's comment was well meaning and conjovial. G'head pull that stick outta there.

mayor sam are you threatening to expose identities?

one expects that you would honor confidentiality for any reason, let alone one where it's a lighthearted reference to Herman Munster for chrissake.

So why didn't you post this on Father's Day just a couple day ago, so at least the observance would have made some of the cretins here a little more respectful.

From Sam-boozled to bum-fuzzled.

Uh 3:42 I think Mayor Sam said TODAY was his dad's birthday.

Thank you 2:27. That's exactly what I was trying to do. Have some fun.

What's Higby's response? "Take that back or else?" Very uncool, Higby.

Someone didn't get hugged enough as a child.

You're an idiot 502. Do you think if you slam my dad I'm not going to defend him? And that's uncool?

June 17, 2008 6:34 PM

Anonymous Anonymous said:

yes, mayorsam, you're the idiot, though, my friend.

defend your dad all you want. but don't start threatening to expose peoples' identity if it's an anonymous post.

or, if those are the new rules of mayorsam, come out and say so. i, and perhaps others, will find other blogs.

this is a classic of your childishness. the rules apply to everyone but you. right? if so, say so.

Mayor Sam chose two of my similarly light-hearted comments on the "Caption This" string.

But here, on this string, a reference to the Munsters is verboten.

I don't get it. Someone gives it a 2 and Higby can't handle it?

Doesn't he think his dad can handle it? Why did he post this, then? There was nothing rude inthis post.

Do we all have to say favorable things because he's related to Michael Higby?

Very nice Jim! Being from Nashville myself,a former employee of June Carter Cash, and sent out here to L.A. with Dolly Parton's blessing,
I hereby pronounce this a bona fide
country tune with a heart of gold!

Loved it! Too cool! How many people have a dad that is also a song writer and performs his own songs as a hobby?! And it's a true story. Thanks.
