Open Thread for Wednesday: Zev and Holy Tattoos
County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky will be on hand to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of two Providence-Holy Cross Hospital community service programs, the Tattoo Removal Program and the Senior Outreach Program.
In other news, related to Providence Holy Cross, the battle against the hospital's desire to expand its facilities, one which has met with opposition from community activists and some unions, continues. Tuesday morning Judge McKnew of the Los Angeles Superior Court granted the activists' motion for relief from dismissal, declaring that the petitioners' counsel's error in miscalculating a deadline by one day was an "excusable mistake" and "unless inexcusable neglect is clear, the policy favoring trial on the merits prevails." The Court reinstated the case which had been dismissed on May 6 and set it for trial on the merits on September 26, 2008. That means the battle is still on.

Since this is an open thread, I have a question. Every time I watch a city council meeting I am amazed at the way Tom LaBonge pronounces "Los Angeles". Am I missing something here? Is his pronunciation some ancient, politically correct way of saying Los Angeles? Is it supposed to be cool? I actually heard some constituent who was kissing up to him pronounce it the same way. What's the scoop?
Yeah, I've noticed that about LaBonge and think he said it WAS correct from somewhere. He's dim as an expired bulb, so he seems to make up for it with city trivia and cheerleading.
But at least he's benign, not like the stupidest one, Ed Reyes the dummy who's dangerous everything he does, especially his racist attacks on the westside and hills and valleys, and open intent to trash property rights to get his slums put in the rest of the city.
His buddies Fuentes/ AB212 with backing of Padilla, Nunez, Cedillo and Alarcon and Cardenas, tried with that bill, but were caught red- handed last minute with their money in the til, involving their friend the would-be developer of Verdugo Hills Golf Course.
Speaking of the Entitlement People, today Janice Hahn stacked the deck of public comment with those favoring her November property tax on homeowners for HER gang program. NO ONE from homeowners groups, just the usual bunch of gimmes.
This in a city with the lowest middle class or rate of homeownership of ANY in the top 20 cities, property values down at least 27% and trash taxes just increased to $500/ year among other taxes. What losers, pandering to the gimme-gimme crowd.
Zev's Y Barbara was there asking the Council to support the gang programs under the Mayor's office: what did she mean? Was that a call AGAINST Hahn the Hack seeing money from homeowners for a new program, milking homeowners? (Which would cost a LOT more than she's saying, she's such a liar when it comes to real cost, these people fudge/ lie about stats shamelessly.)
I HOPE Barbara and Zev come out against Hahn's Property Tax and make clear what it really is, and who it hurts. Not to mention, her idiocy when it comes to gang programs, documented by Fox News.
A property tax for gangs (and I do mean FOR GANGS), a sales tax increase for the MTA for transportation funding (soon to be on the November ballot), and a 1% statewide sales tax increase to bail the state out (if we don't buy into Arnold's lottery plan), all coming to your pocketbooks in the very near future. All on top of Prop S, the trash fee hike and $4.50 a gallon gas. Don't these fools realize there is a breaking point? I guess they are hellbent on finding out exactly where the point is!
-How sweet! Mr. Zev wants to scrape all the Our Ladies of Guadalupe, bloody Jesus' (Jesii), and crying clowns off the gangbangers so they can qualify for Hebrew cemetary burial. Actually, all these stupid thugs should forced to retain their blue-inked criminal I.D.s. In fact, let's brand ALL illegal aliens like cattle! (P.S. La Bonge's pronounciation of L.A., i.e.,"Los Angalus," drives me up a wall. Did he always do this? Gotta check my old city council archives...)
