Mayor Sam's Hotsheet for Thursday
Yea I'm back. For now. I've been busy, traveling and dealing with harassment from certain individuals with relation to the blog. I've also had more fun blogging here than here. And when I had to log back in shedding this guy and becoming this guy again, it felt odd. But here I am. A BIG thank you to Joe Mailander and Zuma Dogg for holding down the fort. Let's get into a hotsheet, shall we?
Shane Goldmacher reports in the Sacramento Bee that there's a big dust up in Sacramento between Senator "Two Bill" Gil Cedillo and Assembly Speaker and former alleged Mirthala Salinas paramour Fabian Nunez. Gil - on a break from trying to give driver licenses to illegals - now wants to give a free college education to illegals. Cedillo's bill is in trouble in the Senate and apparently Gil is trying to blame everyone else including Fabian, to wit the Speaker had to bitch slap Gil in both Spanish and English. "I am deeply disappointed and severely troubled by your disingenuous characterization of the circumstances surrounding the failure of SB 160," the speaker wrote, in a letter sent Tuesday.
Dan Walters reports that Mayor Villaraigosa isn't the shoo in for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination that folks thought he was. State Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell is a dark horse who has $1 million of Reed Hastings' money behind him and former Governor now Attorney General Jerry Brown is a growing juggernaut. And there are least three to four more solid names on the Democratic bench. As well Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner could be the first well funded moderate Republican candidate for Governor since Pete Wilson. Stay tuned.
A crowd of idiots with nothing better to do showed up to the City Council demanding they pass a motion calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Apparently the only Councilman so far supporting this is Silly Billy Rosendahl but as of now his motion is dying for the lack of anyone taking such a ridiculous idea seriously. After taking hits for the dog food settlement and other antics, the last thing the Clowncil needs is talkradio and others going postal on them on such an utter waste of City time.
In light of the closing of King-Harbor Hospital, civil rights activist Joe Hicks wonders why African-American leaders are demanding an "incompetent" hospital remain open as opposed to calling for the same level of care for the Black community as others.
And finally over at the other blog, I take on retail-phobe nannypoo NIMBYs, no, not in Sunland-Tujunga, but this time in my own community. Yes indeed there are a lot of us who WANT development in our town cause we need it now! Anti-big box leaders from other communities you are not welcome here.

Welcome back Mayor!
While you were gone, you missed a real hissy match between ZD and Alger that probably drove away half your readers, and, oh yeah, Sunland-Tujunga kicked Home Depot's ass!

In boxing terms, MAV went from Heavyweight to Middleweight Division almost overnight because of a losing record on oh so many issues already discussed here on Mayor Sam.
Statewide, it's hard to believe that Antonio would have a shot at the title now since he'd have to "fight through" Garamendi, Westly, and Brown (and three more strong possibilities on the horizon) -- too much political talent in that bracket for him to make a dent.

you're really thanking Mailander AND zuma dogg on equal terms? Have you checked the content of their blogs? You gotta be kidding...I thought you were the voice of reason, a balance, clearly not.

We need to e-mail Bill O'Reilly cause he really went after Mayors from some cities who are supporting the illegals. He mentioned about 4 but forgot LA. We need to let him know what our dumb ass Mayor has been saying and he's supporting the felon Arellano and bad mother who left her little boy behind.
Speaking of talk radio does anyone know if John & Ken KFI spoke on the dumb gang tax embezzle Janice Hahn, Wesson, Parks, Geuesome and Garcetti want to put on ballot? Pass this around
Did City Hall Fund a Gun-Runner?Feds arrest Hector Marroquin, of the purported “No Guns” anti-gang program....FEDERAL ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND FIREARMS AGENTS knocked first, then entered the Downey home of purported anti-gang activist Hector Marroquin on Wednesday, arresting him for selling silencers and weapons — including three assault rifles and a machine gun — to an undercover ATF agent.
The gun sales, some of which Marroquin, the founder of the gang-intervention group No Guns, transacted at his bar in the city of Cudahy, were captured on videotape and audiotape, said police officers present at his arrest.

How can Michael Trijullo be the campaign person for HIllary Clinton after being sneaky and posting on this blog as someone else while running Villaraigosa's campaign back?
...Trujillo says he was one of several people to fill the blog's "Chief Parker" role and was involved only briefly. The story calls him an unpaid volunteer on the 2005 Villaraigosa campaign, and says a Reiner spokesman denied knowledge of the blog.

Mayor V. wants to bring in more illegal aliens to add to the gang problem, the school problems the county hospital overcrowding. Mayor we already have enough criminal gang members we don’t need anymore. This is what you find in East Los Angeles.

Good Afternoon Jack,
Try "LIGHTWEIGHT", or better yet "FLYWEIGHT". BTW, good insight.

lol, Spot, I actually HAD typed in Flyweight, then I deleted it for Lightweight, then I nixed that for Bantamweight, then I settled for Middleweight because after all, he still is the Mayor of L.A.
Of course, regardless of what division a fighter is in, we all know what the guy in the ring who comes in second place is called...
