Mayor Antonio Stretching the Truth Again
Mayor Villaraigosa has not been telling the truth again. He was boasting about the City's Department of Animal Services when it turns out the County is kicking the City's butt:Yesterday, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced that the City of Los Angeles’ Department of Animal Services is the largest animal adoption agency in the United States.Oh well. It's a silly summer, the Council is on a much needed (for us) vacation and we need something to keep us going until Labor Day right?
This claim is inaccurate. The County of Los Angeles’ Department of Animal Care places more animals each year than the City of Los Angeles.
The City of Los Angeles placed 25,279 animals last year, compared to 28,309 animals placed by the County. In the 2005-06 fiscal year, the City placed 24,515 animals compared to 27,670 for the County. In the year prior to that, the City placed 24,190 animals and the County placed 28,203.
The County of Los Angeles’ Department of Animal Care and Control is the largest animal control agency in the country, serving all unincorporated Los Angeles County as well as 51 contract cities. “Our staff and volunteers work diligently to place abandoned animals into new, loving homes” stated County of Los Angeles Director Marcia Mayeda. “They should be recognized and congratulated for their efforts that lead the nation in the numbers of animals adopted”.

The County provided the figures to the City that caused the City to announce that it had released more animals for adoption and rescue. Then, miraculously, the day after the City's announcement, the County suddenly - and miraculously - found (or manufactured) another 6,000 animals it could claim it had released and put out its own ego- and envy-driven press announcement.
Should we assume that some of the same animal activist politics that stain efforts to save animals in L.A. every day are once again rearing their ugly heads. Sure looks like it.
Why don't the egomaniacs just give it a rest and find something to do that will really help a few more animals? Small wonder hardly anyone with a functioning brain takes any of these people seriously.

I still say that Antonio is a positive force in Los Angeles; he's laying a bit low for now, but he'll be back and be re-elected.
However, I know that Jerry Brown was far ahead of him already in the polls for Governor before the Mirthala thing hit the press.

Ed Boks lied to Jim Bickhart about the numbers. Then Boks lied to Blackman and the Mayor. Boks wrote that phoney press release. He knew the county adopts out more animals but he didn't think anyone would catch him. So Antonio writes up a little certificate of appreciation which he frames and hands to Boks in a press conference which he called. The City just gave a paper award to itself for something they didn't even do. They called the press conference because both Villaraigosa and Boks are in the dog house with their poor performance and inability to keep their pants zipped.
6:05 You are wrong. The county did not provide the numbers to the City. Members of the rescue community asked the County for the numbers. They were given only cats/dogs as sheltertrak.com clearly shows. Boks took the county's annual cats/dogs number from that website and compared that to his fiscal year cats/dogs AND others adopted. In the others category he even included wild animals which were not adopted but released to the wild. You can't adopt wild animals.
Boks again intentionally fudged and spun the numbers. He knew he adopted out fewer than county but he thought he could get away with the lie, just like Antonio lying about his marriage being fine. The truth always comes out in the end.
While I'm here, the euth rate has been down the last few months. The reduction in the euth rate is equal to the reduction in intakes. Boks is merely refusing to take the animals. Fewer in, fewer euth'd without having to do more work but less work.
LA County adopts our more animals. They also killed 2.5x as many animals. Why don't they brag about that? they are the largest killing shelter in the area.

Figured I'd come here and clean up some of the mis-truths on this blog.
All lies unfortunately.
Guess what folks, the county and city have a joint task force where they work together on some of the adoptions within the greater Los Angeles area.
So if you do the math, the county gets to double count their numbers when it is actually more of a city adoption rather than a county one.
Which is why the county will get to publicly release larger numbers, but the truth is the Mayor was correct. Los Angeles on its own is the largest adoption agency likely in the world for baby cats and cute doggies.
As to the posters here that think the Mayor's clout is somehow been weakened, I find it very telling that someone here thinks Hillary has asked hte Mayor to step back.
Kind of hard when Hillary's handlers are the Mayor's.

LA County services all unincorporated areas of the County. They service 9,800,000 people. They also service Beverly Hills and West Hollywood besides other incorporated cities. LA City only services the City of LA which is 4,000,000 people. The County does not count adoptions twice. The Director of LA County Animal Control Marcia Mayeda does not even get along with Ed Boks the Director of LA City Animal Services.
This is not the first time that the City has had problems with the County. Jerry Greenwalt a previous Director for the City said that LA City was the largest rescue organization in the US. That was also a lie as the County takes in more animals than the City. Taking in animals just to kill them isn't even "rescue." These people just love to lie. Antonio Villaraigosa and Ed Boks are the main liars.
Villar is a proven liar so you can't believe a word he says. He is a national embarrassment who should have resigned months ago. Los Angeles under his watch is an example of what cities should NOT be. Most of the country recoils in horror and dread at the mere mention of "Los Angeles" and its ethnocentric, illegal-alien loving mayor.

The Mexican Senate is doing America a favor by looking like such fools, having the nerve to demand that we let their illegals break our laws at will. And Arellano is also proving why it was essential to deport her, how she knowingly sought to undermine and overturn US immigration policy.
Her claiming that the US acted illegally in forcing her to pay taxes is apparently an attempt to justify her using someone else's SS number. "Well, I had to, since they made me pay taxes, and I couldn't get one legally." But did she pay taxes on her wages, or was she paid in cash? In any case, the services her son used for education and health care over the years cost more than anything she could have paid.
Good the Mexicans want to establish a scholarship fund for him, though -- they should do that to pay for ALL their illegals we are educating at all levels.
(The SS issue raises the fact that if that failed legalization plan had gone forth, all those 12 million illegals plus new ones coming in would have been eligible for SS payments on retirement, while the system is supposedly going bust now in a few years.)

Normally, I find insightful thoughts from the "KEYS" of Hernandez's computer, not today. "SENOR HERNANDEZ" may call our country's immigration "PERVERSE". But what is worst is someone who would subject their own child to "MENTAL ABUSE", thus leading to physical trauma. Sickening also is the pandering of "MAYOR POLLOVILLAR", but then that is par for the course. Word of caution, stay clear of the "BACKFIRE".
This thread is about the Mayor and Boks lying to the public at a press conference just to try to help their horrible images. It's about Boks being caught in the act of lying about the numbers. ....the mayors of Portland, Oregon and Houston, Texas, both sanctuary cities, have explaining to do. In Portland Tom Potter is soft on illegal aliens, affording them every protection he can. Potter continues to do this, despite the murder of 15-year-old Danny Countryman, who was allegedly strangled by Alejandro Gamboa, an illegal with a drunk driving conviction. Clackamas County authorities never reported Gamboa to ICE after his first conviction. Portland still refuses to alert ICE about criminal alien arrests in most cases. Houston where Mayor Bill White watched as Juan Salinas was charged with killing a family of three in a drunk driving crash. Salinas, an illegal from Mexico, had two prior charges — assault and public intoxication. But ICE knew nothing about him.
The soft system in Harris County released Salinas on $1,500 bail. He was free to kill the Williams family, including two-year-old Xavier. Now clear thinking Americans understand the failure of local authorities to inform the Feds about illegal criminal activity is insane. Every arrest is public information. Every one. So there's no reason on this earth why ICE should not be informed immediately when aliens are taken into custody. It's just common sense

Why isn't anyone commenting that LA lost out millions in transportation funds? I do recall Antonio saying he was making a trip to Sacramento to fight and lobby for funds for LA. Seems he's lost that magic touch everyone was praising him about two years ago. Can someone name one thing he's done for our city besides plant trees and have dogs adopted and not even the huge numbers he says.

But when he is NOT, and when he or his staff is actually doing something, we may have to worry even more!
Trees? The guy wants to plant one million more trees in our city. Sounds great. But do we already have a backlog of 5, 6, 7 or 8 years in trimming the existing trees in our neighborhoods? And do we really have the resources to add one million more new trees, and properly maintain them in addition to taking care of the existing trees that sorely need attention?
The fast growing and overgrown ficus trees all over our city need trimming EVERY YEAR, not once every 6 or 7 years. Some of them are already blocking traffic lights, signs and creating hazardous traffic conditions. Not only that, their branches and leaves are interfering with electrical lines, and overhanging roof tops of houses and buildings. Roots are cracking sidewalks and tripping pedestrians … more hazards, and more law suits against our city? And what is the guy going to do? Plant one million more trees? Sure, we love to have more trees. But you have to take care of the existing ones first!
Knowing the priority seems to be so difficult for this guy.
There are many city issues. The guy or his staff seems to be doing exactly the opposite of what is needed to help our city, on almost every single issue.

Aren't you aware that everything must grind to a halt and move out of the way for the illegals here? Didn't that just happen to Ted Hayes or someone recently who had a permit for some kind of meeting in a park and a bunch of illegals, without any permit (what an absurd concept, issuing permits to criminal illegals!), wanted to run one of their hissy fit demonstrations on the same day and time and the illegals drove out the permit holders? If I recall correctly, the police even supported the illegals....
Those Japanese just better plan on moving out of their way!

The City is NOT his concern. His concerns:
1) His own personal enrichment, empowerment and "career" movement.
2) Fielding the corruption of he and his homies
3) A wide assortment of women to "entertain" him
5) Keeping his Mexican masters satisfied
6) Solidifying the position of the illegals here so they remain a strong and viable tool for their purposes.

Maybe if the Mayor didn't lose the transportation money, didn't lose the Olympics, didn't lose his school takeover in the courts, and didn't lose his credibility on just about everything, we wouldn't have to comment on what a loser he is.
