Apple II: Update on Antonio, Jr. (Villaraigosa, Not Sabato)

We had a post earlier today where we reported on two blogs breaking the story that Antonio Villaraigosa, Jr. allegedly posted comments on the social networking site Facebook as to various freshman activities as he prepares to enter Princeton this fall. This involved under age binge drinking, an encounter with police officers and possibly producing fake identification.

Since then photos of the event in question have surfaced - with Villaraigosa, Jr. - clearly in attendance. It also appears that alcoholic beverages were on hand and one shot shows the Mayor's son holding what probably is a beer or a malt beverage. If the postings are indeed penned by the younger Antonio, the group was reported to be consuming some of my favorite adult beverages.

Intitially some readers had the impression this party was claimed to be held at Princeton which led them to believe it was not true as Villaraigosa has yet to travel there to begin his studies. However it's my impression that he is saying the party was held in Southern California and that they had a bonfire. The only beach I am aware of in Los Angeles that has bonfire pits is Dockweiler Beach - within the city limits of Los Angeles (and we'll get to that in a moment) - the photos do look like Dockweiler, just immediately south of the runways at LAX.

In his alleged posting, Junior talks about an encounter with police who were "cool" meaning that the officers did not cite anyone for underage or public drinking. Are we to infer that LAPD officers whose boss reports to Junior's dad, looked the other way for the younger Villaraigosa?

There is also reference to someone who makes good "fakes," presumedly fradulent identification in order to enter bars or buy alcohol when you're under 21. This does not directly implicate the Mayor's son, but its troubling that he would brag about it.

Now why does this matter? The Mayor has asked us to vote for him (and I did) based on him being a "family man." This issue - as well as the affair he admitted to - speaks to his character and causes me as a constituent to have pause about his ability to make proper judgments, decisions with respect to whatever his values are. We have to hold our leaders accountable to the highest standards or society will not hold. It doesn't have to be religious right hard core crap but a basic sense of right and wrong, good vs. evil, etc. (and I am digressing too).

Junior isn't doing anything I didn't do when I was a freshman. I don't begrudge him having fun and enjoying being an adult. However when you are the mayor's son and you may be getting special favors from the police, then we have an issue.

So feel free to bash away on me dum dums. But remember - it was not me - but Antonio, Sr. and Antonio, Jr. who reportedly made the decisions they have made. We are just reporting them. I would much rather talk about eminent domain, transportation, shady corrupt government and all that.

Of course the sad thing is if I was doing that 400% of you that are here these days wouldn't be here.

The beach in question is in Orange County, California. SoCal Tigers agreed to meet half way between LA and San Diego so they chose OC.

Antonio has been to Princeton in April for some pre-events. That is when he was partying with some Princeton students. He said he did more than just "pregame" partying, i.e. more than just drinking.

The fire was legal because it was in a pit. The only reason police would approach them is if they had open containers of alcohol which is illegal on the beach. That must have happened. Then maybe one of them flashed a fake ID to say he was over 21 and could have the alcohol. Maybe then he put it back into the cooler and the cops were okay with that.

Going back to the days when Antonio Sr. would leave him at those little league fields in South Pasadena and forcing other friends to clalim him. Coffee break time in the Mayor's office, 2:47?

This one's a snowball heading downhill.

AV set the parameters when he allowed his handlers to try and recreate him as Mr. Squeaky Clean, father of the year, model for your kids, ready to run LAUSD. (See Gregory Rodrigues' latest LAT column)

One more real, certifiable bimbo outreak this summer, and AV will be lame-ducked at the beginning of the 2nd half of his first and only term, and his former fawning supporters around the City Council horseshoe and high profile departments will begin jockeying to see who rides in to replace him when the scramble begins in a year.

If Hahn can be dropped for letting an outside consultant overbill a city with a budget of megamillions for a few hundred thousand (all returned and then some, per Delgadillo), then bumbling and fumbling through a mayoral term like a testosterone-enraged frat boy at 54, while single-handedly reinforcing negative Latino stereotypes is a gift wrapped 2008 Xmas present for the next batch of wannabes.

Okay, so you wanna go back to talking about the daddy? Here's a rhetorical, maybe psychological question for you.

Why is AV, "Senior" never listed as "Sr" on any documentation, profiles, ballots, etc. . . anywhere? Junior is always listed as "Jr."

Average Joe Daddy-Man out there, who fathers a kid and proudly names him "Junior" almost immediately starts called himself "Sr." Everywhere.

It's a source of PRIDE! A sign of MATURITY and accepting RESPONSIBILITY for another. Hey, I got a "Jr." at home. I've reproduced. I'm training the next "me" in the world. I'm MORE of a MAN now, I'm a FATHER.

But not AV, the midget mayor. Can't find him identifying himself as a the "dad" of a kid bearing the same name. Not anywhere (Google it), for 18 years!

Why? (Ask AV that one Duke H. at the Times).

You really gotta ask? Same reason the wedding ring didn't "fit" well some months back.

CUTS OFF THE CIRCULATION.

No roaming lothario looking to score with the hotties wants them thinking of him as some other woman's husband, or even WORSE, some kid's "DAD" - a man with a teenage son at home, in some cases not much younger than them.

That's like some stripper giving you a lapdance while she whispers in your ear about how pissed she is at the grades her kids are getting in grammar school.

MAJOR TURNOFF. "No thanks, I won't have another, and don't expect a tip."

NOPE, proud pareny, family man, daddy . . . AV is none of the above. Don't you dare try and ball and chain his personal life like that.

Wife, children, happy home = more props than the Universal back lot.

Someone should nickname Park-que Skelton the "propmaster".

Ethical Debate Continues Over Jacobson's Departure
CHICAGO -- A television reporter videotaped wearing a swimsuit at the home of a man whose estranged wife is missing says she was fired because she's a woman who aggressively pursued a source on her day off.

But some say former WMAQ-TV reporter Amy Jacobson lost touch with ethical reality when she went swimming with her kids at Craig Stebic's suburban Plainfield home.

Jacobson's actions and subsequent dismissal ignited a debate Wednesday around newsrooms, Internet blogs and water coolers: Was she held to a different standard because of her gender? Isn't it a reporter's job to cultivate sources? Was her bikini the issue or that she had her two young sons in tow?

Telemundo affiliate KVEA in Los Angeles placed reporter-anchor Mirthala Salinas on leave after the revelation that she'd been having an affair with married Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Salinas once covered the mayor as a political reporter for the station.

I can recall in my younger years at Oxford tipping more than a pint or two in an attempt to try to fit in and look cool, savvy (more vomitus) And like all young lads, I remember having to step outside and untie all the tie-ing on that I did in the pub. Some call it a right of passage.

But what I would be interested in finding out is WHO the individual was that procured the contraband and alcoholic beverages and gave them to this young lad. It's no secret that Pop used to give me a few quid to by some rubbers and pints now and again, and when I became of age Pop gave me quid for rubbers....he said that I could buy my own liquor at that point, savvy?

(Vomits and moans) I wonder if His Nibbs gave his son a few quid to purchase some potent potables or if he purchased the potables himself. Now THAT ought to be interesting, savvy?

Excerpt from

PrincetonUniversity

Rights, Rules, Responsibilities,

Note: Villar Jr.'s Violation of rule #4 (not number 3(c) since he wasn't on campus)

When are Princeton University students in violation of the alcohol policy?

Students are in violation of the University alcohol policy under any or all of the following circumstances:

1. When the serving of alcohol encourages excessive drinking (e.g., drinking games, initiation activities, hazing) as it can lead to the endangerment of the individual served. When this is the case, those serving the alcohol are in violation of policy. This is an especially serious violation.

2. When the consumption of alcohol contributes to behavior that (a) intimidates, threatens, or injures others; or (b) leads to the destruction of property; or (c) infringes on the peace and privacy of others, students are in violation of policy.

3. Students are in violation of policy (a) when carrying or possessing an open container*of alcohol in or across common spaces (lounges, gamerooms, courtyards, dining areas, hallways, etc.); (b) when in possession of a keg and/or tap (unless permission is granted by the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students); (c) when, under the age of 21, in possession of any container of alcohol in common spaces of the University; (d) when serving, providing, or making available alcohol to persons under the age of 21 in all locations; and (e) when procuring alcohol for persons under the age of 21 or by falsifying identification.

4. The preceding regulations apply to students both on and off the University campus, particularly in the local vicinity. Violations of local ordinances or State laws by students may also be grounds for University disciplinary action, regardless of where such violations occur, if they clearly violate University standards of conduct.

*Open container is defined as any container not sealed by the manufacturer.

WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE PICTURES. I WOULD LOVE TO SEND THEM OVER TO PRINCETON.

OH MY GOSH! UNDERAGE DRINKING! seroiusly...arent there more important matters at hand regarding villaraigosa? I mean, I for one, am glad that this celebrity child chose to enjoy his adoelscent "fun" in a safe way, and didn't choose to get behind the wheel or go on any dangerous escapades like so many other children (Al Gore III, for one)...what he did (if indeed he did), is nothing more than what everyone else participated in in college, and I for one find it ridiculous that anyone would single out this kid simply because of the family he was born into...I mean, really, anyone who takes the time to try and hurt this kid (mainly the post above this one trying to send photos to his school) is just a bitter shut-in with nothing better to do. I know from what my kids tell me that police are often very soft when they come upon underage drinkers (which is often) and what probably happened was that the officer was simply trying to keep these kids safe, and get them home, instead of causing a scene and arresting everyone...probably didn't even have anything to do with villar jr...the fact that he described the police officer as "cool" does not mean he got special treatment.

MS...why do you have to start spreading dirt on 18-y.o. kids whom no one elected to any office? he hasn't hurt anyone or done anything that would affect the lives or livelihood of the citizens of Los Angeles...this is absolutely ridiculous.

Mayor Sam:

You are growing dangerously close to being sold next to the tabloids at the supermarket. Don't make your usually-insightful blog into a mockery of mudslinging.

All from the same person. Next time spread your posts out or better yet, if you're so offended, move on! Nobody is forcing you to read this. Jr. reaped some benefits from his dad's position. I'm sure he got special treatment at Loyola High after his dad steered that 30 million dollar bond their way and that bedroom at the mayor's mansion is nice. So he is fair game - if you beneift from celebrity you are subject to its downside, no matter the age.

===========================

THANK YOU!

I am so sick of these media whores who are nothing until they utilize the media to propel themselves into the public spotlight THEN have the nerve to scream about not having any PRIVACY! The very media/tabloid/paparazzi machinery that they are all too happy to use to keep their faces and names active before the drooling masses and to manipulate them and drain them of their money do not then get to complain that they have no privacy! YOU bargained away your privacy along with your soul when you made your greedy, narcissistic bargain with that particular devil and you can just LIVE WITH IT!!

Neither the 18 year old son nor the father have any qualms about sucking up every special advantage and special deal they can from Villar's current position so they can just LIVE WITH EVERYTHING ELSE THAT COMES WITH THAT TERRITORY - AND IF THEY THINK THAT INCLUDES PRIVACY, RESPECT AND NO SCRUTINY, THEY BETTER THINK AGAIN !

10:03,

Let's forward your post to Kobe.

Look, we all spend our time complaining about the people who are supposed to be serving us.

We lament that the quality of those willing to venture into the arena is often lacking.

I submit, that this is a huge reason why better qualified, moral people stay away. It's one thing to forfeit your own privacy in the pursuit of public service, it's quite another to forfeit your entire family's.

Honestly, I find it incredibly difficult to accept that you really feel this is news.

If the Bush twins get caught drinking, that's a matter for the police and her parents. If Al Gore's son is busted for pills and driving too fast it's not news. The only news in that story was that a Prius will do 100mph!

These are private matters. If we want lucid, honorable, and productive government then we need men and women of fantastic quality.

I'm not surprised that we have so many Randy Duke Cunninghams, I'm surprised we don't have more.

Take it down.
