Zuma Dogg doesn't have to go to San Pedro to know that OF COURSE that single agenda item translates into, "Hey, we gotta start passing ordinances to get our percent of the "LAUSD $20 Billion plus Construction piece of the pie."
That's cool...just keep putting more bonds up there until the "yes" vote/more money runs out...call it a day, and move on to the next "pot" to privatize.
Don't forget the parks, health care, infrastucture and all the other money out there to meddle with.

What ARE you babbling about? Are you actually defending the status quo of the LAUSD, which has been an inert, bloated mass for years, decades?
Brewer was totally unqualified for the job, Marlene Kanter explicitly chose him for his "enthusiasm" and "charisma" that could presumably make him confront the Mayor on equal terms. The guy has zilch education or non-military management skills, but is being paid an outrageous $400 thou a yr to do nothing.
AFter 8 months he unveiled a dramatic plan to...create a task force to "study the matter." RE: the Mayor's first cluster of schools: impossible before 9/09 cuz they had to "study" the matter further...Really, just an obvious ploy to prevent the Mayor from showing any success w/ education during this term. The real power grabbers/egotists: Brewer, Kanter and the head of the UTLA.
Oh, but LAISD does have major successes: $100 million on a payroll system that can't add or spit out checks; recently, equal amount on inventory system that doesn't work. Cuz the system DOES have supplies, justs can't find them, so teachers -- who don't get their checks, or get too much -- shell out their own money.
Meanwhile, most schools are literally way more dangerous every day than what that female firefighter had to endure and got $6 million for: beaten for being the wrong race, color, demographic or NOT belonging to a gang/group at all. Never mind being gay, too.
The only successful elem. schools are the ones where the parents are virtually all over the place as volunteers, help their kids daily.
But NO decent school after elem... even locals can't get into Pali schools any more, cuz of busing.
Thank goodness Garcia et al is kicking some butt to push timelines to show results in things like retention and grades/ success. Oh, no! It's giving the holdovers headaches, they're used to getting nothing done, but taking into the wee hours of the night to do it.
Just cuz the Court thru out Mayor's big doesn't make him wrong. (That judge was voted out, by the way, but Arnold reinstated her anyway;

Monica Garcia and Jose Huizar did absolutely nothing when they were with LAUSD. Huizar had the most over crowded school in the nation and sat by and didn't care. Now,Monica Garcia who we all know Antonio made sure would b prez is doing what Antonio wants without any parent input. Talk about dictatorship. Shouldn't Antonio be more concerned with his baggage to start actually doing some work in the city? Love John Ziegler KFI when he said AV quote, "the people will evaluate me on my committments." I almost crashed listening to that sound bite in my car.
LA Slimes reports, "Garcia drove not only the meeting but also the blitzkrieg of reform motions. In that endeavor she had assistance from the mayor's office — help that became obvious when mid-level district officials discovered that Villaraigosa's office was listed as the author on the computerized draft files of her motions.
The mayor's staff offered input and "help in terms of research and support and feedback," Garcia said.
A spokesman for Villaraigosa characterized the effort similarly. "These documents are a result of a collaborative effort led by school board President Garcia," Matt Szabo said. "At her request, the office provided the board president with drafts she used as a launching point."
